Peacemakers (2003)
Great Show!
Don't know why this series was canceled as the characters are all very believable and I am extremely enjoying the show. I wasn't lucky enough to be able to get it off of HBO, but it is definitely a show I look forward to seeing each week. I hope that they will show all of its seasons. I don't know how many it had, but I guarantee you I will be watching it! The actors and actresses did a great job, and I, too, would like to thank CMT for giving us this opportunity to see such a great show. Even the outlaws are interesting. I personally think Tom Berenger, as the Marshall, is following in John Wayne's footsteps. I was a great John Wayne fan, and Berenger is the first man I have seen who makes me think of the Duke.
Deux frères (2004)
Do not see this film!
The hype on this movie led me to believe that it was going to be a much gentler film than what it turned out to be. I eagerly anticipated renting it, but now I wish I hadn't. The scenery was beautiful, but there was just too much senseless killing in it. This film should have a rating so that children will not be exposed to the awfulness of it. The best part of the whole film was the ending. The rest of the film left me wanting to be a hunter myself and hunt down every lousy human that was in it and put a bullet between their eyes to put them out of our misery! I definitely recommend that you do not take your family to see this film or watch it at home! I agree with PETA: Films like this should not be made and definitely not exposed to our younger people! Hunting is wrong in any form! The mere thought of cubs being close to hunters, especially the murderer of one's father, is absolutely absurd. They are animals, not idiots! As for as this household, we'll be steering clear from Universal for now on.
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
Excellent film!
Growing up, I stayed away from How the Grinch Stole Christmas. It was not one of my favorites. I found it rather boring and silly. Therefore, when Jim Carrey did the Grinch, especially after seeing how it was advertised, I stayed away from it. It was inevitable that I should come back and watch it at a much later date since I am a Jim Carrey fan. I found it to be done excellently. Jim did a great job at portraying the Grinch, and for the first time, I found myself liking the story. He made it believable, and he actually makes you feel sorry for the Grinch. After all, he was mistreated; it is a wonder that he was not worse off than he was. Being on his own for so long, it is also surprising that he was not a total, stark-raving, mad lunatic and that he did not do much worse to the town. My other favorite characters, who did not receive enough credit, were Max, the dog, and Cindy Lou Who who also made the day. They both made the movie. I highly recommend this movie, not especially to kids because kids could not quite comprehend a lot of the things in it, but most especially to teens and adults. Even if you say "Bah Humbug!" to Christmas, you will still like this little jewel! Jim pulled it through and saved an otherwise bad story and made it a great story yet again!
Snow White (2001)
Interesting movie
Although at times it was a little confusing as they tended to blend several fairy tale tellings into one movie, it is well worth your time to watch. It is a movie for the whole family. The characters I like best were, of course, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves. I don't know where they came up with the ideal of naming the Dwarves by the days of the week, but the Dwarves were neat and clever, and I liked the way that they travelled. I did not like the Wicked Queen, but then you're not supposed to and the ideal of adding a D'Jinn as sort of an overseer of the drama that unfolded was a neat twist. All in all, they did an excellent retelling of the timeless tale. Kristen Kreuk did an excellent job as Snow White.
To Sir, with Love II (1996)
Excellent sequel!!!!
I saw To Sir, With Love 1 when I was young, and it stayed with me. I always wanted a teacher like Mark Thackery, but I was never lucky enough to encounter one. I had no ideal that they had made the second one until one day, I was lucky enough to catch it on Starz! Three people at my house sat mesmerized by Sidney Poitier as Mark Thackery's second chance after being retired from English schools to help kids that needed help and had been discarded from life. I found it to be very believable, and so did my friends. We would all recommend this movie. If you get a chance to see it, watch it. It's definitely worth your time.
Born to Be Wild (1995)
Excellent family film!!!!!!!
This film is great for the entire family. You will smile, laugh, and even cry together. Excellent bonding between man and animal! Courtroom scenes are dramatic but also funny. Even animals know the difference between right and wrong, as Katie brings her opinions to be known.
A Far Off Place (1993)
Excellent!!!!!!
This is an excellent movie about love, friendship, adventure, and so many other things I can't name them all. I highly recommend this movie to any one that liked The Blue Lagoon. This one has a much better ending, however.
Kate & Leopold (2001)
Best Love Story Yet
If you love romantic stories about time travel and love gentlemen of the old time, you will love this movie. Hugh Jackman does a wonderful job as Leopold. It is a story I could watch many times and fall in love with Leopold many times. I feel that most women will be extremely attracted to Mr. Jackman in this movie. I highly recommend it to every romantic. I also highly recommend it to any men who want to know how to treat a lady and win that lady's heart. A must-see for all ages!
