Travis Kelce was as surprised as everyone else by his casting in Ryan Murphy’s forthcoming FX series Grotesquerie. Speaking on the latest episode of his New Heights podcast, Kelce recounted working on the series, which also stars Niecy Nash-Betts.

Travis Kelce is everywhere these days. And we all know why.
Sure, the stud tight end just helped the Kansas City Chiefs win their second straight Super Bowl, but that's not the main reason you can't scroll through social media for more than 15 seconds without seeing his grinning face.
Kelce, as you must be aware, is dating Taylor Swift, the pop icon who might well be the most famous and influential woman on the planet.
Taylor is so famous -- and her love life such a hot topic of discussion -- that anyone with whom she enters a relationship suddenly finds themselves a subject of global obsession.
Hell, Taylor is so famous that Travis' entire family has become famous simply because of their indirect association with her.
(Yes, until recently, Travis' brother, Jason Kelce, was a center for the Philadelphia Eagles. But name another offensive lineman who's a household name,...

It was the casting decision heard ’round the world.
After Adam McKay brought on John C. Reilly to portray former Los Angeles Lakers owner Jerry Buss in HBO’s “Winning Time: The Rise of the Lakers Dynasty,” the news reportedly led to Will Ferrell splitting with McKay as producing partners for joint company Gary Sanchez Productions. McKay’s decision to cast Reilly was the final blow to their relationship.
In a The Hollywood Reporter cover story, McKay recalled when there was some discussion about Ferrell joining the cast as Buss, though they ultimately went with Michael Shannon instead. “It really bugged Michael that we were breaking the fourth wall,” McKay said. “He kept saying, ‘I don’t like this. It throws me. I’m having a hard time.'”

The thrilling conclusion airs Thursday on AMC+, and it's going to be fun!
"There’s a darkness here in Ultra City. Yeah, something heavy’s coming down. Mills has to figure it out and stop it. And now he’s all alone," reads the official logline for the finale.
AMC+ shared an exclusive look at the episode, and the clip shows Donella on a mission to pass the torch for a Mayoral candidate.
The problem is that she can't find anyone who will be allowed to do the job.
The clip is fun and shows off the signature humor we've come to expect from this addictive series.

When TV academy voters sit down to fill out their 2021 Emmy nominations ballots, they have to consider 68 shows for Best Comedy Series; this is down by 43 contenders from last year. The last time there were less than 100 entrants of this type was in 2016, when 96 series vied for bids. Since 2017, voters have not had to limit their choices to just 10 shows. The TV academy tells its members to “Vote for as many achievements in this category that you have seen and feel are worthy of a nomination.”
Absent from the list below is reigning Best Comedy Series winner “Schitt’s Creek,” which ended its six-season run last April. Only one of its seven rivals in that race — “The Kominsky Method” — aired episodes during the eligibility period of June 1, 2020 to May 31, 2021. The other six nominees from last year do not appear on this year’s ballot, with “The Good Place” having signed off in January 2020 after four seasons.

While running NBCUniversal’s boutique TV studio UCP, Dawn Olmstead thought of the company behind such shows as “Dirty John” and “The Umbrella Academy” as something of an indie shingle inside a larger conglomerate. But then she took the job as CEO and partner at Anonymous Content.
At UCP, Olmstead had worked with Anonymous on “Mr. Robot” and “Homecoming.” But once inside the production and management company, “I realized, ‘This is what it really feels like to be independent,’” Olmstead says. “And in the best of ways, I think, because the landscape is shifting so rapidly, to be at a company like Anonymous, when they see something, they can pivot really quickly. This particular company has always been about finding difficult stories to tell and those kind of visionary auteurs.”

Emma Stone is set to star in the upcoming Showtime series “The Curse,” a half-hour comedy created by Nathan Fielder and filmmaker Benny Safdie. The Wrap reports that Stone will play one half of a newly married couple opposite Fielder in a “genre-bending scripted comedy that explores how an alleged curse disturbs [their relationship] as they try to conceive a child while co-starring on their problematic new HGTV show.”
Benny Safdie will also star while his brother Josh Safdie will executive-produce via their Elara Pictures banner. Fielder executive-produces, as does Stone via her Fruit Tree banner. Both brothers will direct “The Curse” and co-write with Nathan Fielder. The series is produced by A24 in the studio’s continuing foray into the television business, with Showtime’s “Moonbase 8” having just finished its debut season, and a late-night series featuring Instagram comedy star Ziwe Fumudoh coming to Showtime also.

So, How Was Your 2020? is a series in which our favorite entertainers answer our questionnaire about the music, culture and memorable moments that shaped their year. We’ll be rolling these pieces out throughout December.
Despite the coronavirus pandemic, Tim Heidecker enjoyed a productive 2020 as the comedian prepped his first-ever standup special, starred in the comedy series Moonbase 8 — about three astronauts marooned at a NASA training base in Arizona — and released his “serious” solo album Fear of Death, where he pondered dying, eternal resting places and the afterlife.

The Moonbase 8 series comes from some well-known names in comedy but, how well will it be received? Will this Showtime series be a hit that runs for many years or, will it be cancelled and not even reach a second season? Do the ratings even matter since the entire season has already been released digitally? Stay tuned.
An astronaut comedy series, the Moonbase 8 TV show stars Fred Armisen, Tim Heidecker, and John C. Reilly. Set in the isolated desert of Winslow, Arizona at NASA’s Moon Base Simulator, this series follows eager (though subpar) astronauts. Doctor Michael "Skip" Henai (Armisen) is the son of an astronaut. Professor Scott "Rook" Sloan (Heidecker) is a Christian who wants to spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ in space. Their leader is Robert "Cap" Caputo (Reilly), a former helicopter pilot...

Photo: The Flight Attendant/HBO Max When waist-deep in a global pandemic in which each dwindling day of Autumn reminds us of the coming Winter and is mirrored in daily peak in cases of infection, there is no better source of serotonin than locking your doors, hiding under a pile of weighted blankets, and losing yourself in an addictive TV show for a few days. Fortunately, HBO Max has us covered with the release of its newest original series, The Flight Attendant. The only thing more binge-worthy than a mystery series, is a mystery series with an outlandish gimmick and lovable stars. The Flight Attendant checks off all these boxes and more as the comedic thriller involves unlikely protagonist, Kaley Cuoco, starting her night with a one-night stand waking up to a murder scene. Although there are several gripping mystery series, like HBO’s The Undoing, and many outrageous comedy shows,...

“Moonbase 8” didn’t exactly premiere to out-of-this-world numbers — 90,000 viewers and a 0.0 rating in the 18-to-49 demographic — but look for the space sitcom with Fred Armisen and John C. Reilly to get a second wind from the Golden Globes, which have been loyal to Showtime like no other awards show. The last seven years have seen the premium cable network bag five acting trophies, for Patricia Arquette (“Escape at Dannemora”), Russell Crowe (“The Loudest Voice”), Maura Tierney (“The Affair”), Jon Voight (“Ray Donovan”) and Ruth Wilson (“The Affair”). None of these performances won an Emmy; Crowe and Wilson were not even nominated.
Showtime last won a major Emmy in 2013 and accounted for just two of the 149 major nominations at this year’s ceremony, but it has not slowed down to that extent at the Globes. “The Loudest Voice” received a Best TV Movie/Limited Series nomination at the Globes last...

Photo: 'Moonbase 8'/Showtime As conversations about humans inhabiting planets and moons have grown and become more serious, three incredibly talented artists capitalized on the topical subject matter and brought their comedic and storytelling talents with it, making for a wonderfully interesting and entertaining pilot. In this creative Three Stooges-esque pilot, Fred Armisen, John C. Rielly, and Tim Heidecker play hilariously flawed astronauts preparing to pioneer a new step for human evolution; inhabiting the moon. There’s also a meta, self-aware character within the group that subverts from the stereotypical clique that the other three characters play, Superbowl Champion Travis Kelce, who plays the jock. What’s tremendous about Kelce’s character too is that his jock personality is the most prominent trait about him, contrary to his true self. By establishing a solid sense of place and setting, it’s clear who these characters are and what’s going on around them.

Featuring three comedy heavyweights with John C. Reilly, Fred Armisen, and Tim Heidecker, as well as an intriguing situational set-up, Showtime’s new “Moonbase 8” is an amusing, if slightly empty, workplace comedy.
“Moonbase 8’s” six episode first-season breezily follows the hijinks of Cap (Reilly), Skip (Armisen), and Rook (Heidecker) as they train in the not too distant future for a possible manned mission to the moon.

There are presumably few things more thrilling to a NASA astronaut than a trip to the moon… but the men of Moonbase 8 don’t get to experience that rush just yet.
Showtime’s new comedy series, which debuted Sunday night, takes place not on the lunar surface, but in Winslow, Ariz., where three astronauts are stationed at a simulation moon base in hopes of one day traveling to the actual moon. As they eagerly (and perhaps futilely) await a real assignment in outer space, Skip (Fred Armisen), Cap (John C. Reilly) and Rook (Tim Heidecker) spend their days learning how...

This week, after the stress of a strung out historical moment invaded our daily lives via endless poll tracking, ballot counting, and misinformation sorting, it’s kind of nice to set any worries, pessimism, and seriousness aside and watch “Moonbase 8,” a satisfying comedy about three astronauts-in-training who never leave the Earth. Cap (John C. Reilly), Skip (Fred Armisen), Rook (Tim Heidecker) are three equally doofy dudes, isolated in the desert, running a perpetual simulation of what it would be like to live on the moon.
The only difference is, well, nothing they do matters. They face zero consequences for their many, many mistakes. So if a scorpion crawls inside Cap’s helmet and he rips it off to avoid getting poisoned, he’s not going to suffocate or freeze to death or whatever fatal fate would befall him on the actual moon. He’s also not going to get a call from NASA,...

In terms of television trends, 2020 has ended up being something of an unexpected year full of new series about space travel, and Showtime’s “Moonbase 8” (premiering Nov. 8) is the latest entry into the canon of that very specific brand of 2020 series.
Produced by A24, “Moonbase 8” isn’t the first space-themed comedy of the year, as series like Armando Iannucci’s “Avenue 5” on HBO—meaning “Moonbase 8” isn’t even the first one with a number in the title—and Greg Daniels’ Space Force on Netflix—which went the workplace comedy route that “Moonbase 8” also has—have also taken off this year with varying levels of flight (and critical success). On the dramatic front, there’s also been Netflix’s “Away” (premiered in September and canceled a month later) and Disney+’s adaptation of “The Right Stuff.” However, by not focusing on the majestic nature of space...
