Heroes creator Tim Kring is rebooting the sci-fi drama series into a new show titled Heroes: Eclipse
Save the cheerleader. Save the world. Heroes creator Tim Kring made the mission sound so easy in 2006, but as we all know, things are more complex when people with supernatural abilities start running amok. Thankfully, we’re getting another chance at winning the day because Tim Kring is rebooting Heroes for a second encore with Heroes: Eclipse.
According to Deadline‘s exclusive report, “Heroes: Eclipsed is set years after the events of the original series as new evos are being awakened and discovering powers that will change their lives. Featuring familiar villains and new enemies who once again will be attempting to suppress this next step in human evolution, it will be up to this new group of heroes to save the world.”

A new “Heroes” reboot series is in development from creator Tim Kring, Variety has confirmed.
The reboot, titled “Heroes: Eclipsed,” is set years after the events of the original superhero series, as new evolved humans are discovering their powers. Kring is executive producing “Heroes: Eclipsed” with his manager, Mosaic’s Jordan Cerf. Casting has yet to be announced.
“Heroes” ran for four seasons on NBC from 2006 to 2010, and starred Hayden Panettiere, Jack Coleman, Milo Ventimiglia, Masi Oka, Zachary Quinto, Sendhil Ramamurthy, Ali Larter, Adrian Pasdar and Greg Grunberg. Kring then worked on the 2015 limited series “Heroes Reborn,” with Coleman reprising his role as Noah Bennet. Zachary Levi, Robbie Kay, Kiki Sukezane, Ryan Guzman, Rya Kihlstedt and Judith Shekoni also starred in “Heroes Reborn.”
Back in 2015, while promoting “Reborn,” Kring teased the possibility of developing more storylines in the “Heroes” universe following the 13-episode event series.

Hunting for the Hag begins with Tara sitting across the table from a rather sceptical lawyer who keeps telling her the footage on her laptop won’t help her out of the mess she’s in. She reminds him that he was the one who contacted her, and if he doesn’t actually watch the footage, or she’s leaving.
The footage also begins with Tara, noticeably lacking the facial scar she had in the opening scenes, introducing herself as we find out that she, along with her friends Beth and Candy are setting out to get footage of the entity known as The Hawthorne Hag (Nathan Brandon Gaik; Dead Bodies Everywhere).
You might be thinking that it sounds like, director Paul A. Brooks and co-writer...

[Editor’s Note: The following review contains light spoilers for “The Wheel of Time” Season 2.]
If you’ll spare a weary critic a moment of vulnerability, I must admit: I do not understand “The Wheel of Time.” Not enough, anyway, though not for lack of trying. I’ve now seen the first season of Amazon Prime Video’s fantasy adaptation twice. I’ve read the Wiki pages as well as reviews from my fellow critics. I’ve screened the available Season 2 episodes, while poking around in recaps and social media reactions. The books remain unopened, but I’ve gone over their synopses and summaries, so I feel I’ve done my due diligence. I have given “The Wheel of Time” a spin, a fair shake, and a hard look.
Nevertheless, I don’t get whatever is going on here. In Season 2, Mom and Dad are fighting, but I can’t quite pinpoint how Lan (Daniel Henney) “failed” Moiraine (Rosamund Pike...

Streaming services Paramount+ and Tving have greenlighted two new jointly-developed Korean TV series. They are the product of an ongoing relationship between parent companies Paramount Global and Korea’s Cj Enm.
They are action thriller “A Bloody Lucky Day” and period drama “Queen Woo.”
Korean TV content has been a growth vector for international and regional streaming platforms in Asia. Competition for new originals is fierce and expensive, but Korean drama and increasingly, unscripted shows, continues to attract critical and commercial kudos.
Paramount+ said that new Korean drama series “Yonder” has been the most-watched international show in the U.S. in its first week of availability (since Aprile 11). Its upcoming Korean series “Bargain” earned the best screenplay award at Canneseries on Wednesday and will upload in summer this year.
“A Bloody Lucky Day” follows an ordinary taxi driver who becomes entangled with a customer that turns out to be a serial killer.

Every year, there are always a few critically acclaimed gems that don't get quite enough traction to make an impression among the tentpole summer blockbusters, whether it be through a lackluster marketing campaign or the big dogs pushing it out. One of this summer's most pleasant surprises is "Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris," a thoroughly delightful adaptation of Paul Gallico's 1958 novel about a London maid who travels to the city of lights to fulfill her dream of owning a Dior couture dress of her own.
I've never read the book upon which the film is based on, but director Anthony Fabian ("Good Hope") imbues the kind-hearted fairy tale with an exuberant amount of charm. It has the beating heart of a storybook, bolstered by a charismatic central performance from Lesley Manville.

Talk about reviving a franchise from the grave! Twenty-six years (26!) after Arnold Schwarzenegger’s 1996 action film Eraser comes a franchise reboot featuring none of the original cast and with two veterans of franchise reboots and Dtv sequels at the helm, director John Pogue and writer Michael D. Yet whilst both filmmakers have experience in reboots and sequels they also have some other fantastic movies under their belts – Pogue wrote all Three of The Skulls movies (the second being a personal favourite) and Weiss penned some classic Dtv movies that went on to be staples of the early days of budget DVDs – Octopus and it’s sequel, Crocodile and US Seals 2… Yes, Eraser: Reborn has quite the pedigree.

Exclusive: The Wheel of Time boss Rafe Judkins has revealed how the Amazon drama series will handle the recasting of core character Mat Cauthon from Barney Harris to Dónal Finn in Season 2. Deadline confirmed in September that Harris was departing after the first season of the series, which scored a Season 2 renewal ahead of its November 19 premiere.
Judkins, in the midst of shooting the new season, declined comment on the reason for the swap.

Reno 911!, Die Hart and Mapleworth Murders, which all began as original series on the ill-starred Quibi and now stream as Roku Originals, collected a total of eight Emmy nominations.
The tally was higher than seasoned Emmy regulars like Showtime and Paramount+ (née CBS All Access), which had six apiece. Fox, with seven, also had fewer, though the pool is different for short-form fare.
Die Hart, which Roku has renewed for a second season, stars Kevin Hart as a comedian looking to break through as an action movie star. It scored acting noms for Hart, John Travolta and Nathalie Emmanuel.
Reno 911!, the long-running Comedy Central spoof that was rebooted by Quibi, was recognized in two categories. It is up for Short Form Comedy, Drama Or Variety Series as well as Kerri Kenney-Silver’s performance as Deputy Trudy Wiegel.

Antonio Pérez‘ Seville-based Maestranza Films, producer of Benito Zambrano’s “Solas” and “The Sleeping Voice”), and Kiko Martinez Madrid-based Nadie Es Perfecto, the company behind Álex de la Iglesia’s “The Bar,” have teamed to co-produce a remake of Bigas Luna’s cult horror modern classic “Anguish” (1987).

Exclusive: Orwo Studios and Black Hanger Studios (Jeepers Creepers: Reborn) have acquired remake rights to controversial 1984 slasher film Silent Night, Deadly Night, which Orwo is beginning sales on at the virtual EFM.
The original film’s producers Scott Schneid and Dennis Whitehead of Wonderwheel Entertainment are also aboard with a planned delivery date in 2022.
Silent Night, Deadly Night tells the story of a child who is traumatized after seeing his parents killed by a man dressed as Santa Claus. Years later, he dons a Santa suit himself and gets bloody revenge. The movie spawned multiple sequels over the years and a loose remake in 2012.
It was the original that caused a stir, however.
The cult film was among the more controversial films of the ’80s due to its graphic violence and advertising campaign, particularly its posters and TV spots, that made significant emphasis on the killer being dressed as Santa.

Rosamund Pike is currently enjoying a global audience with the Netflix hit “I Care a Lot,” in which she stars as a shady legal guardian who drains the bank accounts of her elderly wards. Recent press has afforded her the opportunity to look back at her career as an Oscar nominee for “Gone Girl,” and more, including a role in the 2011 action comedy “Johnny English Reborn.” Speaking virtually on “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” Pike took the chance to address an issue she’s hinted at before, which is her body being altered and photoshopped for the poster of that movie.

That was certainly something I could relate to. As I hit my late 30’s, jobs started to dry up and the phone didn’t ring as often. I was married around that time and my husband convinced me to move to San Francisco as he was being transferred with his work. I honestly thought I was leaving Hollywood and the film business behind. We have an eclectic assortment of titles on tap for this week’s home media releases, including some Hammer Horror, a post-apocalyptic television series, several brilliant modern genre classics, and a handful of indie horror to boot. Classic horror fans are definitely going to want to pick up Scream Factory’s Collector’s Edition Blu-ray for Kiss of the Vampire, and if you’ve been holding out for the definitive release of A.T. White’s Starfish, your prayers have been answered with a new Deluxe Edition Blu that also includes a CD. 12 Monkeys: The Complete Series is headed to both formats on Tuesday, and if you’ve somehow missed out on seeing The Taking of Deborah Logan, you can remedy that by buying either the Blu-ray or DVD (and then thank me later).
Other releases for July 14th include Jurassic Shark, Game of Death, The Black Cat (2020), Killing Brooke,...

Thanks to her work with the late Stuart Gordon, and to cult items like Chopping Mall, Barbara Crampton is a horror legend. Since her comeback with You’re Next, she’s done some interesting work and shown great acting chops, particularly in the underseen Sun Choke, but Reborn is evidence that she alone can’t elevate truly terrible material.
In a prologue, in the middle of a lightning storm, a creepy morgue attendant (Chaz Bono) discovers a baby, presumed stillborn, is alive and takes her home. That baby grows up to be Tess (Kayleigh Gilbert). Tess has telekinetic powers and on her 16th brithday sets out to find her mother. Crampton plays Lena O’Neill, an actress who Tess believes to be her mother. Her career has been on the skids, however, she’s preparing for an audition for a very famous director.

Directed by Julian Richards, Reborn is a Frankenstein-inspired horror with some promising ideas that are never quite fully realised by the script. Barbara Crampton plays faded actress Lena O’Neill, whose problems, her psychiatrist suggests, stem from the fact that she never achieved closure after her baby girl was stillborn, 16 years ago. However, unbeknownst to Lena, her daughter was revived in the morgue due to a freak electical accident and taken home by creepy morgue attendant Ken (Chaz Bono), who named her Tess and raised her with his mother.
On her sixteenth birthday, Tess (Kayleigh Gilbert) demands to know who her real mother is. When Ken tries to molest her, Tess discovers she has the power to control electricity and kills him,...

Apple TV+ increases its horror offerings by a full 20% in the pleasantly creepy, M. Night Shyamalan-produced Servant.

This Servant review contains no spoilers.
It’s going to be a little while before an Apple TV+ show premieres and the metacommentary focuses on anything other than what it means for the fledgling streaming service’s existence and long term strategy.
That’ll happen when a new streaming service pops up from the ground with no library of content to back it up. Apple TV+ is simply the product of whatever Apple and its headphone jack dongle money can afford to churn out at the moment. When Servant premieres on November 28, it will be Apple TV+’s fifth show, meaning Servant is literally 20% of Apple TV+ at the moment. It’s 99 cents worth of your $4.99 Apple subscription.

Graham King’s long-gestating feature based on the 2009 British miniseries Unforgiven is moving forward at Netflix. Oscar-winner Sandra Bullock has signed on to produce and star in the film adaptation, which will be directed by Nora Fingscheidt, whose directorial debut, Systemsprenger, was selected to represent Germany at the 2020 Academy Awards.
The script was adapted by Oscar-winning screenwriter Christopher McQuarrie, who has long been attached to this project, which at one point was being eyed as a potential star vehicle for Angelina Jolie.
Currently untitled, the film follows Ruth Slater (Bullock) who, released from prison after serving a sentence for a violent crime, re-enters a society that refuses to forgive her past. Facing severe judgment from the place she once called home, her only hope for redemption is finding the estranged younger sister she was forced to leave behind.

Saviors of Uldum sees The League of Explorers return to Hearthstone.
Blizzard has revealed that the next Hearthstone expansion will be called Saviors of Uldum.
As noted around the time of the reveal of the last Hearthstone expansion (Rise of Shadows), Saviors of Uldum will serve as the second part of a three-part story told via the Hearthstone expansions set to release in 2019. Specifically, this expansion will focus on the League of E.V.I.L. as they head to the deserts of Uldum in order to find a way to use ancient plagues. Standing in their way are The League of Explorers, who we previously saw in the Hearthstone expansion of the same name.
This expansion will introduce 135 new cards to the game, as well as two new mechanics. The first, called Reborn, allows a minion to return to life with one health after they are destroyed for the first time.

We are creeping up on the 14th annual Texas Frightmare Weekend, and it's time to reveal the amazing lineup of horror and exploitation features they've curated for conventions goers. Beyond the insane number of top shelf guests and vendors, Tfw has always had a really fun feature film lineup from which I've gathered several of my favorite horror films of the last decade. This year's lineup looks really solid with films like the world premiere of The Dead Center, the fun sounding VelociPastor, Reborn starring Barbara Crampton, The Bray Road Beast featuring narrator Lyle Blackburn from the band Ghoultown, and a trio of upcoming films from Arrow Video making their big screen debuts in new restorations, The Child, The Prey, and Trapped Alive, and many more....

Judging from the first two installments of Yaron Shani’s “Love” trilogy, it’s safe to say the Israeli director has a fatalistic approach when it comes to matters of the heart. In “Stripped,” he juxtaposed a woman suffering the aftereffects of rape and a teenage boy discovering the social signifiers of masculinity. Now, with “Chained,” he focuses on an abrasive cop with a pathological need to subordinate everyone to his ideas of right and wrong, including his wife and step-daughter. As in the earlier film, Shani workshopped the story for months with non-professional actors who, press notes state, are playing versions of themselves. The result is a powerful, often uncomfortable scrutiny of machismo given free rein through a policeman’s uniform, and a bleak picture of the meaning of love.
With “Stripped,” “Chained” and the upcoming feature “Reborn,” the titles alone are a giveaway to Shani’s conception of “Love.
