Mark and Jay Duplass have been busy. Though they’ve appeared in shows as varied as The Mindy Project and The Morning Show, they’re actually most prolific behind the camera, having founded Duplass Brothers Productions at the start of their careers back in 1996. Now they’re making multi-project deals with the likes of HBO and Netflix, and have so many TV shows in the pipeline as to require a showcase at this year’s SXSW, combining four pilot episodes into one screening at the Stateside theater.

Ike Barinholtz has made Jeopardy! history with his appearance in the Tournament of Champions.
The actor and comedian is the first winner of Celebrity Jeopardy! ever to be invited to participate in the tournament, and his fans are happy to see it.
The 47-year-old father of three qualified for the Tournament of Champions following his Celebrity Jeopardy! win last year, winning $1 million for charity.
Ike was admittedly thrilled about the opportunity and recently told Vulture that he “still can’t believe” it happened.
Ike revealed that growing up, he would watch Jeopardy! with his parents, who were huge fans of the trivia show, and he grew to love the show just as much.
So when Jeopardy!’s executive producer, Michael Davies, asked him to appear in the Tournament of Champions, he responded, “Yes, sir!”
Ike Barinholtz says a Stanley Kubrick film is to thank for his Jeopardy! victory
Ike opened up about his Final Jeopardy!

Jeopardy!‘s Tournament of Champions is bigger than ever this year.
To celebrate its 40th season, the American trivia institution invited a record-breaking 27 contestants to its hallowed annual tourney featuring the previous season’s best champions. (It also certainly didn’t hurt that the show needed to add some extra tournaments for ToC eligibility due to the Hollywood writers strike messing with its usual production schedule).
The expanded contestant count has given Jeopardy! the opportunity to invite back some intriguing contenders who didn’t hit the required benchmark of at least five wins in their initial run. It’s also meant that the show has gotten to try something it’s never done before: bring on a Celebrity Jeopardy! champion to contend with the “real” trivia masters.

Netflix’s Avatar: The Last Airbender has massive shoes to fill with its live-action adaptation of the beloved animated series, and the same is true for the actors tasked with bringing the show’s characters to life. Oscar nominee Kate Hudson (Almost Famous) is attached to star in and executive produce Mindy Kaling’s untitled comedy series set up at Netflix. Kaling is writing and executive producing the 10-episode season along with Ike Barinholtz (The Mindy Project) and David Stassen (History of the World).

What is ‘Poor Things’? Emma Stone has been applying to be a contestant on Jeopardy! for years and has yet to make the cut. Sure, Ken Jennings would likely welcome her on Celebrity Jeopardy! with open arms, and she could likely pillory the guy from Wings or the other guy who was on The Mindy Project with her intellect, but she told Variety on Wednesday that she wants to compete on the real deal.
“That’s my favorite show,” she said. “That’s my dream. You know, I apply every June.

A New Year means lots of removals from Netflix and January 1st is looking busy, with over 100 movies set to leave the service already. Below, we’ll be keeping track of all the Netflix departures for the first month of 2024.
First, a few housekeeping notes as to how Netflix removals work before we dive in. Due to licensing agreements, shows and movies added to Netflix aren’t added forever. Instead, they’re essentially rented for a fixed period. All the shows below have their current window on Netflix ending and will likely be bound for a rival streaming service.
We list titles slightly differently from other outlets, with our listings being the actual day of removal. If you want to watch any titles scheduled to expire on January 1st, for example, you’ll need to watch by the end of December 31st.

It's been 41 years since "Cheers" premiered, and 30 years since it's ended. Although other popular sitcoms like "The Bill Cosby Show" and "Newhart" gave it a run for its money, it's clear by now that "Cheers" has most effectively withstood the test of the time. When the average person thinks of '90s sitcoms, they think of "Friends" or "Seinfeld," but when you ask them to name a sitcom from the '80s, "Cheers" is almost always the first to come to mind.
It helps that so much of the "Cheers" cast has continued to have a major presence in pop culture long after the finale, even if they haven't all returned to the sheer height of popularity they had back in the '80s and early '90s. Striking writers and actors are pressing a few common issues as they seek better contracts from the media companies represented by the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers. One big one: Both unions want more transparency about how many people are watching streaming series and movies and, along with that, a bigger share of streaming revenue via residuals or success-based metrics. That’s a marked change from the earlier days of the streaming boom, when freedom from the bottom-line nature of Nielsen ratings was often seen as a selling point for streaming services over broadcast or cable television outlets.

Lakeith Stanfield has become a hot commodity in Hollywood over the last few years. The Oscar-nominated actor, 32, has had notable roles in everything from "Uncut Gems," "Get Out," and "Atlanta" to "Judas and the Black Messiah" and 2023's "The Haunted Mansion." So naturally, people have taken an interest in Stanfield's personal life, which includes being a father of three and a husband to his wife, model Kasmere Trice. The pair, who quietly wed in 2023, share one child together, whom they also welcomed this year.
Stanfield has two older daughters from previous relationships, though not much is known about them since the "Changeling" actor prefers to keep them away from the spotlight. However, he recently got candid about how fatherhood has changed him since expanding his family again. He told People in an interview published in July, "The connection with my kids is something unlike any I've ever had in my life.
