In February 2023, Netflix will remove a bunch of movie and TV series from its library,
Netflix UK and Netflix US takes down numerous titles each month without fanfare, meaning that many things on your watchlist could suddenly disappear.
These removals are due to licencing deals coming to an end. Often, the titles make their way back to Netflix in the following year, but sometimes they leave to go to other platforms.
This month sees a selection of Netflix Originals being taken down, also.
To minimise surprise, we have put together a comprehensive list of everything being removed in both Netflix UK and US.

There’s one part of his life that Peña keeps private, however — his dedication to Scientology. The actor has only talked about religion on a handful of occasions. But in 2016, he opened up in a revealing interview highlighting the many ways he believes Scientology positively influences his life.

It’s been a big year for Prime Video. From The Boys season 3 to The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power to even the terrible games presented on Thursday Night Football, there were many hits to satisfy Jeff Bezos’ bottom line. How is the Amazon streamer planning on closing out 2022? Why, with another potential hit, of course!
Amazon Prime Video’s list of new releases for December 2022 is highlighted by the return of an old favorite. Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan season 3 premieres all eight episodes on Dec. 21. This time around John Krasinki’s CIA analyst will be dealing with a potentially nuclear conflict with Russia. The only other original TV series of note this month is Three Pines on Dec. 2. The mystery series stars Alfred Molina as Chief Inspector Armand Gamache.
Over on the movie side of things, Prime Video is bringing forward a major holiday tile on Dec.

As usual, Dolly Parton was ahead of the curve. It’s taken us almost 60 years to catch up with her when she sang, “Just because I’m blonde don’t think I’m dumb” on her single “Dumb Blonde.” Films and TV have long poked and tweaked the dumb blonde archetype for laughs, from “Three’s Company” to “Legally Blonde,” but we’re moving into fresh territory with portrayals of sex positive women who refuse to allow their looks to put them in a box.
On “Minx,” porn model Bambi may initially seem like all she knows how to do is take off her clothes, but in Jessica Lowe’s show-stealing performance, she’s the most self-actualized woman at the feminist magazine at the center of the HBO Max standout. “‘Legally Blonde’ wouldn’t have been such a phenomenon if it wasn’t played by Reese Witherspoon. She went to Stanford,...

There’s no surprise given year when known quantities turn out career-best work in any given year — of course, Penélope Cruz is going to soar as a conflicted mother in the latest Pedro Almodóvar film, Benedict Cumberbatch will kill it as a repressed cattle rancher in a Jane Campion film, and Kate Winslet will nail the rough edges of a Pennsylvania police detective in freefall.
But that also means plenty of fresh faces and new talents get the chance to emerge out of the year’s best films and TV series. A watercooler sensation like “The White Lotus,” featuring a sprawling and diverse cast, meant many audiences were tuning into at least a few key new performers making their breakout bows. Meanwhile, in a year where film festivals were up and running again, a handful of foreign titles gained major crossover traction — meaning that new actors from overseas and beyond...

NBCUniversal’s international flight plan for Peacock starts this week: Starting Nov. 16, Sky TV and Now customers in the U.K. and Ireland will get access to the streaming service for no additional fee.
Comcast had announced plans this summer to launch Peacock as a free add-on for Sky’s satellite TV customers in Europe, representing a base of close to 20 million households. According to NBCU, after the “soft launch” in the U.K. and Ireland, Peacock will continue to roll out across Sky platforms in territories including Germany, Italy, Austria and Switzerland in the next few months.
Sky TV customers and subscribers to the Now Entertainment package in the U.K. and Ireland will get “early access” to the new ad-supported Peacock destination, with original and library TV shows and movies from across NBCU although the content availability will differ from what’s available on Peacock in the U.

Had “The Misfits” been made 22 years earlier — say, in the sweet spot between James Bond globe-trotter “The World Is Not Enough” and the release of Guy Ritchie’s “Snatch” — chances are, audiences would’ve had a pretty good time watching “Die Hard 2” director Renny Harlin’s idea of a cutting-edge heist movie. “The Misfits” stars Pierce Brosnan as one of half a dozen not-so-petty criminals who team up to knock off a for-profit prison in Abu Dhabi, where the guy who built it (Tim Roth) has been stockpiling blood money for terrorists in the form of well-secured gold bars.
But this is 2021, and Harlin — who peaked with “Cliffhanger,” bombed with “Cutthroat Island” and has been treading water ever since — is still making movies for ’90s sensibilities. Even the idea of a team of rule-breakers who pool their talents (all of which seem perfectly suited for breaking the law) to...

Among the reasons Pranati Rai Prakash loved shooting for the music video of Kamal Khan's Punjabi track "Gabru" is that it required her to be on a mini road trip.
"I travelled from Gurgaon to Chandigarh for the shoot. It was a road trip. I love road trips. We halted at dhabas for delicious daal makhnis and aloo parathas. Everyone was new to me but felt like friends, so shooting for it was fun," she recalls.
The actress says the video was very different from the work she has done before.
"I think each project I do has a different essence to it. Gabru has a lovely fun vibe to it and I loved the 'salwar kurte mein running in the Punjab ke khet' sequence," says Pranati, who made her debut in the film "Family Of Thakurganj" in 2019 and will be seen in "Penthouse" opposite Arjun Rampal, as well...

Pour one out for the 90-day theatrical window.
The decades-old staple of the film world slipped the surly bonds of Earth during Covid, perhaps the most consequential example of how the pandemic has upended the cinema business. The roughly three-month timeframe the industry calls the theatrical window, the longstanding agreement between Hollywood studios and theater owners about the length of time to play movies exclusively in cinemas, has officially been laid to rest.
After months of teetering precariously on the precipice, the final blow came on Thursday following Disney’s announcement that Marvel’s “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” and the Ryan Reynolds’ action comedy “Free Guy” would screen in theaters for 45 days before landing on home entertainment.
Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek ascribed the studio’s post-pandemic approach of rolling out movies in theaters and on Disney Plus to “the relatively fluid nature of the recovery.

The Time’s Up Foundation has issued a statement in response to news that disgraced Hollywood director and producer Brett Ratner has announced a new feature film project. Marking his first directing job since 2014’s “Hercules,” a newly announced Milli Vanilli movie would be Ratner’s first project since sexual harassment and assault claims in October 2017 from various women including Olivia Munn and Natasha Henstridge.
Tina Tchen, president and CEO of the Time’s Up Foundation, released the following statement: “Time’s Up was born out of the national reckoning on workplace sexual harassment. Our movement is a product of countless courageous acts by many survivors, including those who spoke out about what they endured at the hands of Brett Ratner.”
The project announced earlier this week is in partnership between Millennium Media and Ratner’s RacPac Entertainment.

Brett Ratner has essentially been blackballed from Hollywood after a number of serious allegations were made against him by several actresses, forcing Warner Bros. to sever all ties with the filmmaker and his Ratpac-Dune Entertainment company. The outfit were in the midst of a hugely lucrative 75-picture deal with the studio, but 2018’s Dwayne Johnson video game blockbuster Rampage was their last project of any kind.
Ratner may have been a reliable pair of hands when it came to crafting big budget movies with a decent track record at the box office, but he was far from spectacular. The success of the Rush Hour franchise stemmed from the chemistry between Chris Tucker and Jackie Chan rather than anything the director brought to the table, and only three of his ten features managed to secure a Fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The first was Rush Hour, the second was Silence of the Lambs prequel Red Dragon,...

Even though the parameters of the Christmas movie are pretty well established at this point, the merits of more unconventional titles like Die Hard, Batman Returns and Gremlins still find themselves being debated on an annual basis. Most people seem to be in agreement that the Christmas film needs to involve the festive season as either a backdrop or major plot point while incorporating themes of family and togetherness, but what exactly is a Thanksgiving movie?
Is it a pic where the holiday is integral to the narrative like Ike Barinholtz’ directorial debut The Oath? Does it have to specifically involve turkeys in some way like the animated Free Birds? Or the annual Macy’s parade as seen in Ben Stiller’s forgotten Tower Heist? Perhaps one single scene set around the Thanksgiving table is enough to fit the criteria, as appears to be the case with Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man.

HBO Max’s Raised by Wolves with its freshman finale steered multiple storylines into a dramatic turn, while also planting several seeds for the sci-fi series’ second season (which was greenlit in mid-September).
First and foremost, there was the matter of expectant Mother. After Father landed the pod in a familiar forest, she aimed to kick back and recharge, while Sue monitored her amniotic fluid for signs of gestation/imminent birth. Along the way, Mother and Father got into it a bit, as she sensed he was “jealous” of the child she was carrying — or at least curious as to...

Before Alan Alda was cast to play the Ponzi-scheming bad guy in the 2011 caper comedy “Tower Heist,” the film was set to a have a more recognizable real-life villain. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter for a recent profile, Chris Rock recalled that Eddie Murphy’s original pitch was for a movie about a gang that robs a villainous Donald Trump.
Rock said he was in producer Brian Grazer’s office when Murphy pitched the movie — a kind of Black “Ocean’s Eleven,” starring Rock, Dave Chapelle, and Chris Tucker as a gang that robs Trump Tower. Trump would be the bad guy, “Like Alan Rickman in ‘Die Hard,'” Rock told THR.
The movie morphed during development into what we know today, “Tower Heist,” the more middle-of-the-road movie with a great cast of, as Rock puts it, “a bunch of white people.”
Directed by Brett Ratner, the film follows employees of a luxury apartment building who,...

Gabourey Sidibe and Anna Kendrick were both first time Oscar nominees at the Academy Awards in 2010. Sidibe was in the running for Best Actress thanks to her acclaimed breakout role in Lee Daniels’ “Precious: Based on the Novel ‘Push’ by Sapphire,” while Kendrick was in contention for Best Supporting Actress along with co-star Vera Farmiga for Jason Reitman’s “Up in the Air.” Both of these movies were up for Best Picture and Best Director, losing to “The Hurt Locker” and Kathryn Bigelow. Neither Sidibe nor Kendrick won Oscars, but Sidibe says Hollywood embraced one of them more than the other.
In a new interview with Collider to mark the opening of her horror movie “Antebellum,” Sidibe opened up about her life and career in the 10 years following her Oscar nomination. While Sidibe is grateful to be a working actress a decade after “Precious,” she’s aware Hollywood didn’t...

In another major blow to movie theaters, Disney announced “Mulan” will forgo its planned theatrical release. Instead, the live-action remake is premiering on Disney Plus on Sept. 4 for a premium rental price.
The company believes that the release of the action epic will help drive subscribers while serving as a valuable test case to determine how much of their hard-earned cash customers are willing to part with in order to watch a movie that was originally intended to debut exclusively in cinemas.
Unlike the rest of the content available on Disney Plus, “Mulan” won’t be available directly to subscribers. Consumers in the U.S. and other territories will have to pay $29.99 to rent the movie on top of the streaming service’s monthly subscription fee of $6.99. In markets where Disney Plus isn’t available, “Mulan” will play in cinemas.
For now, Disney’s CEO Bob Chapek says “Mulan’s...

Dennis Joseph “Denny” O’Neil, the writer and editor who redefined the Batman, the Joker, Green Arrow, the Shadow, and the Question for the modern era; created or co-created R’as al Ghul, OPtimus Prime, Azrael, Leslie Tompkins, Madame Web, Richard Dragon, and Lady Shiva; and was a beloved contributor to ComicMix, has passed away at the age of 81.
He started his career in comics almost by accident, when Roy Thomas suggested that O’Neil take the Marvel writer’s test, which involved adding dialogue to a wordless four-page excerpt of a Fantastic Four comic. O’Neil’s entry resulted in Lee offering O’Neil a job. O’Neil had never considered writing for comics, and later said he’d done the test “kind of as a joke. I had a couple of hours on a Tuesday afternoon, so instead of doing crossword puzzles, I did the writer’s test.
