Paul Giamatti, Joely Richardson, Alessandro Nivola, Simon Russell Beale and Arty Froushan are joining the third “Downton Abbey” feature film. Giamatti, who recently scored an Oscar nomination playing an ornery teacher in “The Holdovers,” is reprising his role as Harold Levinson, the bother of Elizabeth McGovern’s Cora Grantham, a part he played in the TV show that spawned the film franchise.
No word yet on who Richardson, Nivola, Beale and Froushan will portray. Nor are there any details about the plot, but this being “Downton Abbey” you can expect silverware to be polished to a high gloss, tables set with military precision and a mad dash to find an adequate number of ladies maids to service all the guests for this or that soiree.

Conjoined twins Lori and George Schappell, subjects of several notable documentaries who pursued separate careers, interests and relationships during lives that defied medical expectations, died this month in Pennsylvania, according to funeral home officials. They were 62.
The twins, listed by Guinness World Records as the oldest living conjoined twins, died April 7 at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, according to obituaries posted by Leibensperger Funeral Homes of Hamburg. The cause of death was not detailed.
“When we were born, the doctors didn’t think we’d make 30, but we proved them wrong,” Lori said in an interview when they turned 50, The Philadelphia Inquirer reported. George came out as transgender in 2007.
The twins, born Sept. 18, 1961, in West Reading, Pennsylvania, had distinct brains but were joined at the skull. George, who had spina bifida and was 4 inches shorter, was wheeled around by Lori on an adaptive wheeled stool. Despite each having...

A breath of fresh air for traditional commercial television was Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone, especially in an era when streaming services and binge-worthy content ruled the television landscape.
If you enjoy vintage badass Westerns with lots of revolvers and hard-boiled cowboys, you have probably heard of, if not seen, Paramount’s neo-Western drama series. Fans of the genre will find much to enjoy in this gripping drama series that brings back the glamour of Hollywood’s golden era into the present day.
Kevin Costner as John Dutton in Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone
But before going on to give birth to one of the best TV shows ever, Sheridan, 54, was just an actor, most known for his role in the FX drama series Sons of Anarchy (2008–2010). However, he left Kurt Sutter’s series and later said the experience motivated him to work on Yellowstone.

The original Fox’s ‘X-Men’ film series cast is the cast that we will associate with some of the most popular Marvel characters in years to come. If you think about Storm it’s impossible not to conjure up images of Halle Berry, or associate Patric Stewart with Charles Xavier.
Famke Janssen, the actress behind the iconic Jean Grey portrayal is still the best live-action Jean Grey, despite Sophia Turner also portraying the character in the latter installments.
With ‘Deadpool 3’ release looming on the horizon and all the various rumors associated with former X-Men characters making a big comeback for Deadpool’s first foray into the MCU, it’s impossible not to wonder whether Famke will make an appearance as Jean Grey as well.
The actress herself commented on the rumors in her interview with Screengeek.

The original cast of Fox’s ‘X-Men’ films will forever be linked with some of Marvel’s most beloved characters. When you think of Storm, Halle Berry immediately comes to mind, and Patrick Stewart is synonymous with Charles Xavier. Famke Janssen, who played the iconic Jean Grey, remains the definitive live-action portrayal, even though Sophie Turner took on the role in later films.
As the release of ‘Deadpool 3’ approaches and rumors swirl about former X-Men characters returning for Deadpool’s MCU debut, fans can’t help but speculate if Famke will reprise her role as Jean Grey too.
The actress herself commented on the rumors in her interview with Screengeek.

Tulsa King season 2 has now started shooting, and Deadline reports that Craig Zisk (Weeds) has signed on to direct and executive produce the Paramount+ series.
It was reported last year that showrunner Terence Winter would be stepping down from the series following some creative differences with creator Taylor Sheridan. However, he decided to come back as a writer for the second season, which would keep his interactions with Sheridan at a minimum.
While Winter is still involved as an executive producer, he will primarily focus on writing for the show as well as working closely with Sylvester Stallone. “He loves these characters and loved working with Sly and was glad his post-strike schedule allowed him to return to write but not run the show,” a source said. Instead of bringing in another showrunner, the production decided to follow in the footsteps of the other shows produced by Sheridan’s 101 Studios...

The drama, targeted for a fall launch, hails from 20th Television in association with Ryan Murphy Television.

Ryan Murphy Productions has dropped a teaser on Instagram for a previously unannounced FX series titled “Grotesquerie.” The promo, which was uploaded to the shingle’s account on Friday, described it as a “new horror drama series” that will premiere this fall.
The teaser didn’t contain any footage, and only flashed the names of cast members Niecy Nash-Betts, Courtney B. Vance and Lesley Manville over a black screen as Nash-Betts’ voice delivered a monologue, seemingly over a phone call.
“I don’t know what’s started. I can’t put my finger on it. But it’s different now,” she said in the clip. “There’s been a shift. It’s like something’s opening up in the world. A kind of hole to the center of nothingness.

On the morning of January 23, 2024, actor Gary Graham, star of the "Alien Nation" TV series, the cult classic "Robot Jox," and multiple-time "Star Trek" supporting player, passed away at the age of 74. Graham had a prolific acting career, appearing in single episodes of many of the hottest TV shows of his day, including "Starsky & Hutch," "The Incredible Hulk," Knots Landing," "CHiPs," "T.J. Hooker," "Hunter," "M.A.N.T.I.S.," "Diagnosis Murder," "Ally McBeal," "Jag," and "Nip/Tuck." He had an easy demeanor, allowing him to play comedic affable characters just as well as intense, serious ones.
Trekkies likely know Graham best for playing Soval on "Star Trek: Enterprise." Soval was the snippy Vulcan ambassador who oversaw Earth's very, very slow transition from post-war ruin to a thriving society ready for space exploration. When the 2023 Emmy nominations were announced, Pedro Pascal made history as the first person to instantaneously go from having zero to three TV academy acting notices. His recognized body of work as a star of “The Last of Us,” narrator of “Patagonia” and guest host of “Saturday Night Live” serves as a full display of his talent, with his performance on the NBC sketch series being the strongest showcase of his versatility. Premiering last summer, “The Bear” has become the most-watched comedy series in FX history. Season 1 amassed a total of 13 Emmy nominations, making it the third most-nominated comedy this year behind “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” (14) and “Ted Lasso” (21). Included as part of their showcase is Jon Bernthal for Best Comedy Guest Actor for his performance as Michael “Mikey” Berzatto, his first Emmy bid after over 20 years working in the industry.
Like many actors, Bernthal’s first television appearance was in the “Law & Order” franchise on the spinoff “Law & Order: Criminal Intent” in 2002. After many appearances on a number of network dramas and sitcoms, he became known for his role as Shane Walsh in the first two seasons of “The Walking Dead,” and went on to work with such revered film directors as Martin Scorsese (“The Wolf of Wall Street”), Denis Villeneuve (“Sicario”) and Edgar Wright (“Baby Driver”). Crazy Legs Features has nabbed film rights to The Most Beautiful: My Life with Prince, the bestseller from Mayte Garcia, chronicling her romance with the iconic musical artist, for development as a scripted biopic. With the WGA strike in the rearview mirror, the company is now in search of a writer to pen the adaptation.
The first wife of the superstar born Prince Rogers Nelson, Mayte’s bestseller offers a perspective on Prince through their intensely personal relationship that shows a depth and nuance never revealed of the famously private and beloved artist. The book’s title is inspired by the hit song Prince wrote about their legendary love story that started backstage at a concert. What began as a friendship between two artists blossomed into a romance, thrived as a fairytale from their wedding day, and then struggled due to the devastating losses that ultimately ended their marriage in 2000. It’s been almost 12 years to the day since Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk unleashed “American Horror Story” on the genre-loving masses. Not many of us queerdo TV fans have stuck around long enough to enjoy the ongoing “American Horror Story: Delicate,” at least judging Season 12 by the series’ earlier viewership numbers.
But even with the show’s spectacularly uneven quality and Murphy’s unfailing ability to drop the ball mid-way through a decent story, the creepy-yet-campy anthology remains an undeniable staple of horror TV and FX offerings. It’s got a smaller fanbase these days, sure. But we’re still thriving — constantly theorizing about how the seasons are interconnected and assembling some of the funniest clip compilations on the internet.
On October 5, 2011, the co-creators and executive producers known for “Nip/Tuck,” “Glee,” and more wacky dramedy classics premiered the first episode of what was retroactively titled “American Horror Story: Murder House.

Exclusive (Updated with statements): Top entertainment lawyer Craig Emanuel is leaving the Century City-based firm Paul Hastings where he has been a partner and global chair of the Entertainment and Media division. After practicing as an attorney for more than 42 years, Emanuel is retiring from legal practice to focus on working as an advisor to his longtime client, Ryan Murphy, and his Ryan Murphy Productions.
Murphy has been a client of Emanuel’s for his entire Hollywood career; Emanuel signed the then-aspiring writer in 1996, before he had sold his first script, “Why Can’t I Be Audrey Hepburn?,” to Steven Spielberg, and before he launched a hugely successful TV career with his first series, the 1999 Popular.
Emanuel’s clients will remain at Paul Hastings and move forward with Erik Hyman, current co-chair of the firm’s Entertainment and Media division, who has worked with Emanuel for more than 25 years.

This story about Oliver Platt first appeared in the Down to the Wire: Comedy issue of TheWrap’s awards magazine. All actor interviews in that issue were conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike began.
This will be the first time at the Emmys for “The Bear” star Jeremy Allen White and for fellow nominees Ayo Edebiri, Ebon Moss-Bachrach and Jon Bernthal. But it’s old hat for Oliver Platt, who was nominated in the Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series category for his fan-favorite character Uncle Jimmy “Cicero” Kalinowski, the alternately menacing and menschy familial support for the Berzatto bunch. Platt was nominated for Emmys for “The West Wing,” “Huff” and “Nip/Tuck” but shockingly has never won despite being a staple in viewers’ primetime lives for decades.

Can it really be 20 years since “The O.C.” premiered on Fox? The young actors of the series, Benjamin McKenzie, Adam Brody, Mischa Barton and Rachel Bilson quickly became in-demand stars and the theme song “California” by Phantom Planet became a top ten hit in several countries while also reaching 35 on Billboard’s Alternative Airplay chart.
The bagel-centric series also introduced us to “Chrismukkah” and showcased bands from The Killers to Modest Mouse.
Several members of the cast went on to lead their own series and films and others have popped up on hit shows from “How I Met Your Mother” to “Grey’s Anatomy.” Here’s what they’ve been up to since “The O.C.” signed off in February 2007.

Benjamin McKenzie, who played O.C. newbie Ryan Atwood, went on to star as an LA cop on TNT’s “Southland” and as James Gordon on Fox’s Batman prequel series “Gotham.

In 2022, Nathan Lane became the sole record holder for most Best Comedy Guest Actor Emmy nominations (six) and then achieved his very first TV academy honor for his work on “Only Murders in the Building.” Having just earned another bid for the Hulu series, he could soon join six other two-time recipients of this award, including back-to-back champs Jay Thomas (“Murphy Brown”) and Mel Brooks (“Mad About You”). Although his chances are strong, he also faces the unique challenge of having to fend off a fellow former winner.
Seeking a bookend trophy of his own is “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” guest actor Luke Kirby, who was lauded for the same series in 2019. Lane is also involved in an immediate rematch with Sam Richardson (“Ted Lasso”) and faces fresh opposition from category newcomer Oliver Platt (“The Bear”) and Emmy first-timers Jon Bernthal (“The Bear”) and Pedro Pascal (“Saturday Night Live”).

Carly Reeves wasn’t pleased about being the first person eliminated on season 2 of ABC’s Claim to Fame. The niece of Oscar-winner Tom Hanks gave an awards-worthy performance of her own – complete with an ear-splitting scream and tears – after a fellow contestant correctly guessed the Saving Private Ryan star was her uncle in the show’s June 26 episode.
Reeves’ connection to Hanks landed her a spot on the competition series, which brings together a group of 12 celebrity relatives and challenges them to discover the identity of each other’s famous family members. But that’s not her only celebrity connection. Reeves may have also worked at Lisa Vanderpump’s Sur.

After a $300 million dollar deal, Ryan Murphy is heading back to where he started — sort of. The “Glee” and “American Horror Story” creator is reportedly planning to leave Netflix for a new deal with the Disney Corporation, bringing him back into the fold with many of his collaborators from his time at 20th Century Fox TV.
According to a report from Bloomberg on Tuesday, Murphy has not finalized his deal with Disney yet, but has spent the past year negotiating with the House of Mouse and reportedly managed to iron out the details before the Writer’s Strike began in May. Murphy’s Netflix deal, which was first signed in 2018, will expire this July.
If the deal goes through, it will reunite Murphy with Dana Walden, who served as the CEO and head of Fox Television when Murphy worked there from 2003, with the premiere of his show “Nip/Tuck,” to 2018. Under Walden’s leadership,...

Ryan Murphy looks to be heading back to Disney.
Murphy is set to leave Netflix at the end of his five-year overall deal, which was understood to be worth around $300M. Deadline has confirmed that he’s in talks with Disney, although no deal is yet signed.
The move will reunite him with Dana Walden, who is now Co-Chairman of Disney Entertainment.
The move is not a huge surprise as many around town have been openly discussing him returning to work with Walden – he was previously under an overall deal at 20th when Walden was there – before moving to the streamer in 2018.
After a slow start at Netflix, with shows such as Hollywood, Murphy has been responsible for some of its biggest recent hits including Monster: The Jeffrey Dahmer Story and The Watcher. Prior to Hollywood, he had made series such as Ratched and The Politician for the streamer, which...

Robert Downey Jr., who is synonymous with the MCU’s ‘Iron Man’, was not always going to play the billionaire philanthropist and was in talks to play a whole different character. “I remember you had all met with (Downey) already for like Doctor Doom or something on another project,” director Jon Favreau said in a conversation with Marvel boss Kevin Feige, reports Deadline.
“I think he had come through on maybe Fantastic Four, so everybody sort of knew who he was.”
Favreau and Feige sat down for a retrospective look at the film that started the MCU 15 years ago.

The Mandalorian has given Katee Sackhoff, who plays Bo-Katan Kryze on the Star Wars series, perhaps her most popular role. But Sackhoff very nearly didn’t pursue acting at all. In fact, she had a very different career plan until fate intervened. Here’s how Sackhoff decided to become an actor, finding herself on a collision course with Hollywood in the late ’90s.

Even though the Star Wars saga has been absent from the big screen for the past few years, The Mandalorian and subsequent other Disney+ series have kept the “galaxy far, far away” alive and thriving. Moreover, this expansion of the George Lucas-created world has given many more actors the opportunity to join in the fun.

The Mandalorian stars Pedro Pascal as Din Djarin, a bounty hunter who creates an unexpected bond with a baby alien named Grogu (formerly known as “Baby Yoda”). But the series has expanded a lot since that fairly straightforward premise, bringing in TV veterans like Katee Sackhoff. But how much is the actor who plays Bo-Katan Kryze actually worth? Let’s find out.
Katee Sackhoff had humble beginnings before her acting career

Prolific TV producer Ryan Murphy accepted the Carol Burnett Award at the Golden Globes on Tuesday night, paying tribute to many of the people he has worked with in front of and behind the screen.
Murphy ran through some of the highlights of his career — Michaela Jaé Rodriguez becoming the first trans actress to win a Golden Globe, seeing “Pose” star Billy Porter, who introduced him, wearing a black tuxedo gown on the Oscars red carpet, and working with actors such as Niecy Nash, Matt Bomer and Jeremy Pope, who were able to present their true selves on screen.
