Will Smith and Martin Lawrence revealed in a recent interview that they almost got into a serious mishap on the set of Bad Boys 2 after performing a stunt that was wrongly executed. The action movie franchise had a lot of car chase scenes, and those sequences are quite dangerous.

What is the "Bad Boys" franchise, exactly? It's a question worth contemplating, given the unusual history of the series. For one thing, the franchise is nearly 30 years old, and yet the latest entry, "Bad Boys: Ride or Die," is only the fourth film in the series. For another, each film to date has had a radically different identity: the original 1995 "Bad Boys" saw Will Smith, Martin Lawrence, and director Michael Bay taking their first steps into feature films together, while 2003's "Bad Boys II" is essentially an insane victory lap, with the trio celebrating their stardom while making what amounts to avant garde art in the guise of a summer action movie.
2020's "Bad Boys for Life" saw Bay hand over the directing reins to the young and hungry directing duo of Adil & Bilall (Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah), whose work in their native Belgium (especially 2015's "Black") impressed series producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

As ancient prophecy foretold, the “Fast & Furious”-ification of the “Bad Boys” franchise is made complete with its fourth installment, which builds on the sordid plot twists of 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life”: an undercover affair! A secret cartel love child who murders Joe Pantoliano! DJ Khaled! This trigger-happy soap opera spins a breakneck and broadly entertaining summer blockbuster about the holy trinity of American traditions: family, corruption, and shooting people. This one even ends with a barbecue.
Vin Diesel’s Wagnerian car saga ran out of gas a long time ago, but the story engine that powered it from the streets to the stratosphere has proven a solid fit for this sunbaked nostalgia act, a ’90s-era property straining to stay relevant in a sick, sad world where Deadpool is a bigger draw than Michael Bay, and Will Smith is less famous for his hits than his slaps.

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence are back policing the streets of Miami in Adil & Bilall’s new sequel. Here’s our Bad Boys: Ride Or Die review.
Playing Mike Lowrey in 1995’s Bad Boys was one of Will Smith’s career-defining roles. He went from the goofball in The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air to a certified action star, and by the time Bad Boys II rolled around in 2003, Smith was one of the biggest names on the planet and Bad Boys became one of the biggest action franchises in modern cinema.
The franchise got a little boost in 2020 with Bad Boys For Life, and returning directors Adil & Bilall try to once again recreate the magic with Bad Boys: Ride Or Die. It’s the fourth instalment in the franchise, and if you weren’t a fan of the first three, Ride Or Die probably won’t convert you.

In 2020’s Bad Boys for Life, Marcus Burnett (Martin Lawrence) says the quiet part out loud about how he and Mike Lowery (Will Smith) had “more days behind them than in front,” and wondered if playing cops and robbers was how they wanted to spend their remaining time. Granted, that film still ended wildly, with Mike fighting his own son and his ex, an actual witch, in a building on fire, but that’s neither here nor there. Adil & Bilall’s Bad Boys: Ride or Die, as it turns out, takes the question a bit more seriously, especially after Mike finds himself finally getting hitched to a beautiful woman (Melanie Liburd) and, in the wake of the death of Joe Pantoliano’s Captain Howard, has Anakin Skywalker-esque nightmares about losing her.

Whatcha gonna do when “Bad Boys” comes for the box office? If you’re a theater owner, the answer is hopefully sell some tickets.
Sony’s “Bad Boys: Ride or Die,” the fourth installment in the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence-led buddy cop series, is targeting $30 million to $50 million from 3,850 theaters in its first weekend of release. As that cavernous range suggests, estimates vary greatly depending on whom you ask. Sony has offered the soft $30 million figure, while rivals and independent tracking services believe the $45 million to $50 million range is more likely.
Adding to opening-weekend ambiguity: The sequel to 1995’s “Bad Boys,” 2003’s “Bad Boys II” and 2020’s “Bad Boys for Life” is Smith’s first major film to grace the big screen since he assaulted Chris Rock onstage at the 2022 Oscars. Have audiences soured on Smith or will they forgive and forget in favor of another “Bad Boys” reunion?...

Audiences had to wait eight years between the first Bad Boys and Bad Boys II, and another 17 years for the threequel, Bad Boys for Life, which thanks to filmmakers Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah became the highest grossing installment in the Will Smith and Martin Lawrence action cop series at $426.5M. As such, it was a cinch by historical standards for Adil and Bilall to put Bad Boys: Ride or Die into motion. Their m.o. on part 4: Make it fast, make it feel like a ride, and at 1 hour and 55 minutes, it’s the shortest Bad Boys ever. "2020 at the box office will be known as the 'year of the asterisk,' with virtually every known measure and metric for box office performance being completely rethought and recalibrated." These were the words of Comscore senior media analyst Paul Dergarabedian speaking to CNN in October 2020. At that time, the industry was contending with a months-long, global shutdown, with movie theaters on life support as the pandemic raged on. Yes, every title released in 2020 will always come with an asterisk but even with that, one movie had to come out on top during Hollywood's lost year. That movie was "Bad Boys for Life."

Will Smith and Martin Lawrence showed up to the Bad Boys: Ride or Die premiere in Hollywood on Thursday ready to put on a show.
Arriving on top of a double-decker bus, Smith quickly took on the role of hype man, yelling into a microphone, “When I say, ‘bad,’ you say ‘boys'” to the crowd gathered on Hollywood Boulevard. He and Lawrence, reuniting for their fourth Bad Boys film, soaked up the fan love for the franchise and told The Hollywood Reporter that after nearly 30 years of playing these characters, they’re not quite ready to hang it up.
Although many long-running franchises have been rebooted with younger casts or passed the baton on to the next generation, Smith insisted, “We might have one more in us before we hand it off but we’ve got a lot of young seeds in there.” Added Lawrence, “The back ain’t went out quite yet,...

When Bad Boys for Life came out in January 2020, it ended a 17-year wait for the third film in the franchise, which launched in 1995 with Bad Boys and continued in 2003 with Bad Boys II. It’s only taken a relatively brief four-plus years to get the latest entry in the series, Bad Boys: Ride or Die, to the screen—but it’s been a tumultuous stretch, to say the least.
“The hope is definitely that everything will be a little bit smoother from now on,” co-director Adil El Arbi, returning to the franchise with directing partner Bilall Fallah after taking over for Michael Bay on the third film, tells Den of Geek ahead of the movie’s arrival. “Because also in those last four years, five years, we have learned so much.

Bad Boys: Ride or Die, the fourth film in Sony’s action franchise starring Will Smith and Martin Lawrence, had its first public screenings Wednesday night, and the first reactions have already hit social media.
At a fan screening at AMC The Grove 14 in Los Angeles, Smith and Lawrence made a surprise appearance. There were also screenings in Atlanta, Chicago, Houston, Miami, New York, Philadelphia and Washington, D.C.
The plot to Bad Boys 4 is driven by corruption within the Miami Pd, with Captain Conrad Howard (Joe Pantoliano) accused of working with the drug cartels for years. Detectives Mike Lowrey (Smith) and Marcus Burnett (Lawrence) put together a team to clear Howard’s name but become outlaws in the process.
The cast also includes Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Eric Dane and Welsh actor Ioan Gruffudd. Franchise regulars Joe Pantoliano as Captain Conrad Howard and John Salley as Fletcher also return.

When Will Smith and Martin Lawrence first made Bad Boys, they were – if not boys – then at least young men. And three decades later, they’re still getting caught up in carnage together; this summer sees the release of fourth film Bad Boys: Ride Or Die, following up 2020 smash Bad Boys For Life. While that third entry reckoned with the considerable gap since 2003’s Bad Boys II – and all of the personal complexities that came with that significant span of time – it seems that Ride Or Die isn’t going to play it safe, but plough further into the lives of Mike and Marcus.

Francis Lawrence's 2007 post-apocalyptic drama "I Am Legend" is based loosely on the celebrated 1954 novel by Richard Matheson. The original novel is set in the near future of 1976 when a destructive war has ravaged the Earth, and a horrible virus has infected the survivors. The virus transforms its victims into pale-skinned, nocturnal ghouls with an appetite for human blood, more or less making them vampires. The novel follows Robert Neville, seemingly the last human alive, as he tries to survive in a ravaged Los Angeles and study the virus during the daylight hours. The title comes from the novel's famous twist ending.
"I Am Legend" was adapted to film in 1964 as "The Last Man on Earth," and in 1971 as "The Omega Man," before Lawrence's 2007 version. Lawrence's version transposes the action to New York and makes Neville (Will Smith) into a surviving virologist attempting to come up with a cure for the vampire virus.

Michael Bay is the physical embodiment of style over substance, as he has always prioritized making his frames look cooler than making compelling narratives. Will Smith is back to throwing hands — for good, this time — in Sony’s first trailer for its new “Bad Boys” movie. Along with the trailer, we got a title: “Bad Boys: Ride or Die.” Hell yes.
Smith and his sidekick Martin Lawrence are back up to their old antics in the June 7 film. Four years removed from “Bad Boys 3,” in what we’ve all just colloquially called “Bad Boys 4” to this point, Smith’s Mike Lowrey is still a badass. It’s also a return for directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah, the filmmakers behind Batgirl, which Warner Bros. Discovery shelved in 2022 as a tax writeoff.
The duo, known as Adil & Bilall, scored a hit scored a hit with Bad Boys for Life, which was released just before the coronavirus pandemic shuttered theaters and became the top-grossing film of 2020. Vanessa Hudgens, Alexander Ludwig, Paola Núñez, Eric Dane, Ioan Gruffudd, Jacob Scipio, Melanie Liburd, Tasha Smith, Rhea Seehorn and Joe Pantoliano also star.

Think about the experience of sitting and watching a movie. What is it about that big, wonderful image that connects with you? If you’re a diehard cineaste the answer might be the film’s cinematography or its use of music, special effects, sound design or something else. But for most audiences, chances are that the primary point of connection is the characters—and probably the actors embodying them.
It’s these performances that we identify with, root against and even lust after. But as much as their agents and managers might care for you to believe otherwise, actors don’t pop up in these roles by accident. Enter the Casting Director.
One of the most important (and unsung) positions on any film crew, the Casting Director is the person responsible for assembling the actors tasked with translating the script’s character description and dialogue into flesh-and-blood.

The last sequel, Bad Boys for Life, arrived nearly twenty years after the release of Bad Boys II. The film was a big success, and the studio quickly got the ball rolling on a sequel. Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah returned to direct Bad Boys 4, with production kicking off last April, but they were forced to pause due to the SAG-AFTRA strike.

Stephen King's 1977 short story "Children of the Corn" has been adapted to film an embarrassing number of times. The first adaptation was a 1983 short called "Disciples of the Crow," and it was off to the races. The first feature in the franchise, directed by Fritz Kiersch, hit in 1984 and starred Linda Hamilton and Peter Horton as an innocent city couple who make the mistake of driving through Gatlin, Nebraska, a town that's been taken over by its under-16 population. The kids, following the directions of an off-screen demonic entity they call He Who Walks Behind the Rows, have murdered all the adults and set up their own blood cult. The protagonists run afoul of the kiddie cult and barely escape with their lives intact.
"Children of the Corn" was followed by eight sequels, released from 1993 through 2018. Few of them are good, although the monster design for "Children of the Corn III: Urban Harvest...

"Bad Boys" is something of an unlikely franchise. The first film is a comedy of errors; a buddy cop pic in which two very different partners have to pretend to be each other. Then there's the sequel, the bombastic, over-the-top, gleefully vile "Bad Boys II," in which director Michael Bay goes full Bayhem. And then we have the surprisingly good "Bad Boys For Life," a third film in which the characters have grown up a bit (it's also the only film in the series that Bay didn't direct). A fourth film, currently untitled, is in the works. But until that movie gets here, we have three films to deal with, and we went ahead and ranked them below!

Rapper Travis Scott stars in the first trailer for his and director Harmony Korine’s indie film “Aggro Dr1ft,” which was shot entirely in infrared.
The short trailer is bathed in the starkly contrasted colors of the infrared lens, and it follows an assassin on his journey. “Breaking away from the traditional parameters of cinema, ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ explores the onslaught of digital ephemera and interrogates modern life through the vernacular of video games. Shot entirely through an infrared lens, the film follows a Miami Beach hitman as he embarks on the relentless pursuit of his next target,” reads the logline.
“As it is, ‘Aggro Dr1ft’ is visually thrilling but somewhat tedious to sit through — better as wallpaper than the main attraction,” wrote Variety chief film critic Peter Debruge in his review. “Still, as with James Cameron’s ‘Avatar,’ there’s wisdom in the generic quality of his script. Zorro and Expats are the big shows coming to Prime Video in January. The former is what Amazon are calling a “bold reinterpretation” of the classic hero El Zorro for 2024. Starring Miguel Bernardeau as Diego de la Vega and Renata Notni as Lolita Marquez, it’s definitely an intriguing-sounding action-adventure series, with a ten-episode first season based on the iconic character originally created by Johnston McCulley all the way back in 1919.
Meanwhile, upcoming drama series Expats is based on the bestselling 2016 novel The Expatriates by Janice Y. K. Lee, and follows “the vibrant lives of a close-knit expatriate community” in Hong Kong. Nicole Kidman has been known for picking the right kind of shows to lead in the past, so let’s hope this is another banger for the actress, who is also on board as an executive producer here.

The episode of Revisited covering Wrong Turn 2: Dead End was Written by Emilie Black, Edited by Juan Jimenez, Narrated by Niki Minter, Produced by Tyler Nichols and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
A long, long time ago, in a state deep in the woods, a bunch of people were eaten by cannibal hillbillies in a film called Wrong Turn. Soon, the locals to where the film was taking place got very angry about the depiction of their fellow mountain and wood residents, which they thought gave them a bad name. Horror fans responded by seeing the film anyways, making it a minor hit. The first film had a budget of $12.6 million and made $28.7 million at the box office. While this may lead to a sequel at times, it was not a given. Fast forward to 4 years later and we are gifted with the first of a long series of sequels.

Michael Bay was a decade into his film directing career when Steven Spielberg and "Transformers" beckoned. He'd established himself as a maestro of mayhem — or, as we call it now, "Bayhem." He made the $19 million budgeted "Bad Boys" look like a $75 million action extravaganza, and the $75 million budgeted "The Rock" look like one of the most expensive action movies ever made. Had Bay arrived on the scene in the 1980s, he would've been making high-style, ultra-violent shoot-em-ups with Sylvester Stallone and Arnold Schwarzenegger.
Unfortunately, at the turn of the millennium, four-quadrant tentpole blockbusters were all the rage, which meant Bay had to stifle his R-rated urges and deliver PG-13 spectacle for maximum worldwide grosses. He delivered with "Armageddon," and, to a lesser degree, the distressingly bloodless "Pearl Harbor," which gave him carte blanche to make one of the most morally reprehensible (yet spectacularly entertaining) studio action movies of all time...

It was just a few weeks ago we exclusively shared the news that Harmony Korine had completed his next project, an action-oriented feature shot entirely in infrared starring Travis Scott. Since then, another Harmony Korine-Travis Scott project had a surprise release while Venice Film Festival announced the action picture would premiere out of competition at the festival.
It’s titled Aggro Dr1ft, and the first image has been unveiled and can be seen above in all of its Predator-esque infrared glory. Also starring Jordi Molla, the film clocks in at 80 minutes, and outside of not being produced by A24, that’s about all we know regarding the project thus far.
Since his 2012 hit Spring Breakers, Korine has only directed one other feature––2019’s The Beach Bum––so we’re quite looking forward to seeing what he has in store with this mysterious new project. Check back for our review...

Harmony Korine, the director of cult classics like “Spring Breakers” and “Gummo”, has teamed up with rapper Travis Scott for a new film that was shot entirely in infrared. The film, titled “Aggro Dr1ft”, is produced by A24 and will premiere at the Venice Film Festival in September 2023.

Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom is crashing the summer movie season for the first time as Sony Pictures has set a July 12, 2024, release date for its third “Venom” movie. The film is untitled at this time. Hardy’s previous two comic book tentpoles, 2018’s “Venom” and 2021’s “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” both opened at the start of October. Sony’s “Venom 3” release date puts in square in the middle of Disney’s “Mufasa: The Lion King” and Universal’s “Twisters”.
Sony has also dated the fourth “Bad Boys” movie, which will once again reunite Will Smith and Martin Lawrence. The untitled sequel will open over Father’s Day weekend on June 14, 2024. That puts the action tentpole up against Disney and Pixar’s “Inside Out 2.”

Will Smith had his breakthrough film role starring in Michael Bay’s first Bad Boys film. He and Bay would reunite again for a sequel. But Smith confided that the movie’s use of language sometimes presented an issue on set.
Will Smith had trouble with the swear words in ‘Bad Boys’ Will Smith | Axelle/Bauer-Griffin/FilmMagic
Smith has expressed his discomfort over using swear words in his profession. The hip hop artist was firmly against putting profanity in his lyrics, partially due to his grandmother’s advice. But this vow hasn’t applied to some of the movies he’s done. Particularly in the Bad Boys franchise, which typically boasted R-rated films in large part due to the swearing in the movies.

In the penultimate episode of HBO and creator Jesse Armstrong’s Succession, the character of Ewan Roy (James Cromwell) stands before a cathedral filled with mourners and attendants, and he speaks some difficult, but true, things about his brother. “He was a man who has, here and there, drawn in the edges of the world… [but he] fed that dark flame in men. The hard, mean, hard-relenting flame that keeps their hearths warm while another grows cold.”
It’s a great line, and one I strangely thought about while watching Paramount’s new Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and again when witnessing the film’s box office performance over the past weekend. It’s a great line, and one I strangely thought about while watching Paramount’s new Transformers: Rise of the Beasts, and again when witnessing the film’s box office performance over the past weekend. As directed by Stephen Caple Jr., Rise of the Beasts plays like a textbook committee film for a studio, one whose plot structure was hatched out over a series of compromises in a boardroom. Yet it also is an unmistakable...

When strolling through the Criterion Collection, one can be sure to find the work of many filmmaking auteurs like Hitchcock, Godard, Kurosawa, Fellini, Bergman, Truffaut… and Bay! That’s right, tell your friendly neighborhood cinema snob that Michael Bay has two films in the Criterion Collection and watch their heads explode like…well like a Michael Bay movie.
and one thing is for sure: Michael Bay knows how to blow stuff up real good! Story can often times seem secondary as long as they get the perfect shot…. which often features some of that sweet sweet product placement or that sweet sweet red white and blue. And with his epic fast paced use of movement and scale, Bay has become a genre unto himself, affectionately dubbed Bayhem. But with the Transformer movies in his rearview and an under-performing effort in 2022, its time we figure out just What Happened to Michael Bay!

The "Bad Boys" have officially been spotted on the job. Will Smith and Martin Lawrence were seen filming "Bad Boys 4" in Orlando, Florida, per photos shared by Entertainment Tonight on June 8. They wore full body armor and carried faux assault rifles in the scene, which was reportedly set at the Gatorland amusement park.
Previously, Lawrence said that fans should have high expectations for the hotly anticipated movie. "It has the chance to be the best one of them all and everybody's doing their thing," Lawrence told Entertainment Tonight in April. "We got a lot of the team back from the last one. Big Willie's doing his thing as always and so focused and, yeah, it has the chance to be the biggest one."
That same month, Deadline reported that "Euphoria" star Eric Dane will appear as a villain in the movie franchise's next installment.

“Better Call Saul” breakout Rhea Seehorn will be joining Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in the untitled fourth “Bad Boys” film, TheWrap has confirmed. Details of her character – and anything else pertaining to the plot of the movie – are being heavily guarded but no doubt will occur somewhere in Miami.
Seehorn played lawyer Kim Wexler for 60 episodes on Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould’s “Better Call Saul,” a spinoff of the popular “Breaking Bad” that is the rare example of a spinoff being just as good (if not better) than the original.
Seehorn has also been in several movies, everything from the Tim Allen version of “The Shaggy Dog” back in 2006, to the Netflix horror movie “Things Heard & Seen” with Amanda Seyfried (from “American Splendor” filmmakers Shari Springer Berman and Robert Pulcini), but this fourth “Bad Boys” will definitely be her biggest movie yet.
