It’s family first in The Baxters, Prime Video’s faith-driven drama based on the bestselling books from Karen Kingsbury. The first 10 episodes follow the determined Kari (Ali Cobrin), who tries to save her marriage after learning that her professor husband Tim (Black Lightning’s Brandon Hirsch) has been cheating on her with a student. In Kari’s corner are her loving parents—Elizabeth and John (Roma Downey and Ted McGinley)—and four siblings. Of course, Kari’s compassionate mom is her first call after her life falls apart. Downey was down for the drama, but the Baxters’ relatability drew in the Touched by an Angel vet. “Here is a series about a quintessential American churchgoing family dealing with real challenges and figuring out a way to come out stronger on the other side,” Downey, also an executive producer, says. “I know audiences will see themselves in this story.” Below,...

"Do you think we'll ever get out of here?" "Hopefully not..." Asa Pictures has unveiled an official trailer for a strange indie romantic comedy titled One Last Night, which is the feature directorial debut of filmmaker Anthony Sabet. The film premiered at the Santa Barbara Film Festival last year, though it's only now finally getting a small theatrical + VOD release at the end of this summer. The film is about two people, Alex and Zoe, out on a first date together at the movie theater. But after it's over and they try to leave, they discover they're locked in. Starring Rachele Schank and Luke Brandon Field as the couple. The official synopsis makes it sound like there's something nefarious, but this trailer makes it look super cute and adorable and a little cheesy, as expected. Also starring Brian Baumgartner, Ali Cobrin, & Kelly Stables. Have a look. Here's the first official...

Ever since its publication in 1966, Tom Pendelton’s novel “The Iron Orchard” has been embraced as a cult favorite by many movers and shakers in the Texas oil industry — and, of course, by many more who thrill to accounts of success and excess in that storied realm — largely because of its brutally authentic yet unmistakably sympathetic portrait of a West Texas wildcatter who traverses a dramatic arc of rags to riches to really bad behavior.
Not surprisingly, there have been a few previous attempts to adapt the book into a Hollywood-huge movie. (Paul Newman and George Peppard were among the names floated for those unmade epics.) But, appropriately enough for a tale about a maverick oil man in the Lone Star State, it has taken an independent production outfit and Texas-tied filmmakers to finally bring the project to the screen. After a tour of regional festivals, the project opened first in its home state Feb.

Director: Trevor Matthews. Writer: Nick Gordon. Cast: Ali Cobrin, Adam Dimarco, Slaine, Alyson Bath and Elysia Rotaru. Girl House is an effective slasher film. From one of the filmmakers of Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer (2007) and The Shrine (2010), Trevor Matthews, Girl House brings a lot of bloody murder to the small screen. Full of dark humour, this indie horror feature also updates the slasher feature, with its use of technology; Girl House is often shot unconventionally. Also, the film's central antagonist uses some of this technology to his own advantage as he violently tries to heal his perceived sexual humiliation. Girl House is an excellent slasher feature, with a fresh look at this genre. The story begins with Loverboy. Played by Slaine, Loverboy experiences sexual humiliation at an early age. Two girls insult his man parts. But, Loverboy gets his revenge on a remote bridge. Fast forward several years, Loverboy has adapted to adult life,...

In the vein of slumber party massacre films boasting scantily-clad coeds and voyeuristic pleasures, Girlhouse exploits the sleazy subgenre by throwing pornography into the mix – because it wasn’t easy enough to get girls topless in horror films already. There’s more to Trevor Matthews’ raunchy thriller than horny webcam girls and strip-lawn-golf, though, as writer Nick Gordon blends the already perverse nature of VH1 reality shows with dangerous internet predators we choose to believe don’t exist. Some websites already give subscribers more access than necessary to sexy performers, but Gordon goes a step further by introducing an emotional undertone that deceivingly creates a bond between male customers and their favorite muse. Obsessed, aroused men falling in love with online strippers – what could go wrong?! (A lot.)

If youre a follower of Knautz and Matthews you could find yourself slightly underwhelmed especially when a few similar ideas have been brought to the screen in just the last few years (look into Sx Tape Open Windows and Lucky Bastard for examples of films that could easily earn comparisons). Having said that GirlHouse does have its moments. And furthermore it isnt exactly like any of the other aforementioned films its just a little closer in content than may be preferred. And hell at the very end of the day we do get some lovely shots of scantily clad if not fully nude beauties like Ali Cobrin Alyson Bath and Nicole Arianna Fox. Hard to bitch about that.

Ahh, the year in skin.
It's not the golden "Deep Throat" years of the '70s anymore, it's the age of the Internet and no one really goes to the movies to see nudity, but women proved they were hungry for some beefcake with the wild success of "Magic Mike." Meanwhile, A-list actresses bared it all for some compelling reasons that were absolutely integral to the script… hehe.

Chicago – The sex comedies of Judd Apatow have rendered “American Pie” passé, but that certainly isn’t going to stop the franchise from pumping out paychecks. When compared to “The 40-Year-Old Virgin” and “Superbad” (not to mention Lena Dunham’s “Girls” series), the “Pie” farces are shallow and sophomoric. No wonder they’re most popular among junior high schoolers.
Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg’s “American Reunion” revisits the sex-crazed friends in their ’30s, and like “Scream 4,” the film has no reason to exist, except to increase sales of its predecessors. The adolescent antics that used to make these characters endearing are now off-putting. Like Joe Pesci in “GoodFellas,” Seann William Scott’s irrepressible character of Stiffler bullies the guys into doing moronic things for fear of losing their masculinity. Scott has proven to be funny elsewhere (see “Role Models” and “Goon”), but a little of Stiffler’s act goes a very,...

Thirteen years ago, the small film American Pie revolutionized teen sex comedies. It didn’t necessarily do anything different, but for the first time, the teen sex involved the internet. Now, more than a dozen years later, the cast crawls from their (mostly) languishing careers to attend their 13th high school reunion. And they made a movie of it, not-so-cleverly called American Reunion. Anyone who has been to their own high school reunion knows that these things shouldn’t be attempted without at least a little bit of alcohol. That’s the best way to enjoy this film, but not too much, unless you want to miss Ali Cobrin’s best moments in the film. And now, to cover our butts… This game is only for people over the age of 21. Please drink responsibly, and don’t let Stifler anywhere near your cooler of beer. Suggested drink: Hard apple cider, with...

Great film comedies have memorable characters and incidents, usually showing a knack for brilliant casting, and covering turf previously untouched. In 1999, American Pie did all of the above and was a wonderfully funny bit of fluff. It gave us some fine performances, including a resurgent Eugene Levy, the bit with the apple pie, made band camp sound cool, and of course Shannon Elizabeth’s swell nakedness.
The sequels that followed, both theatrical and direct-to-video tried to cash in on the craze but merely retread familiar turf and got less and less funny. Poor Levy would back the truck to the bank to unload all the cash he got to make appearances to at least somehow connect the series together.
However, here we are nine years after American Wedding with American Reunion and it suddenly feels familiar and fresh at the same time. This time around, writer/directors Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg,...

They're back and at it again. If you haven't had your fill of over-boozed, over-sexed, scatological fraternological make-you-squirm-in-your-seat humor, the American Pie crew will take care of you. The franchise that began with American Pie, continued with American Pie 2, American Wedding, American Pie Presents: The Naked Mile now returns for a 13th-year American Reunion.
Actually, American Reunion is a worthy comedy, from the writer-director team of Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg who wrote all three Harold and Kumar movies. Not that a film like this could be said to have a moral, but you could say there seems to be an underlying message that "The family who plays together stays together." As series protagonist Jim Levenstein (Jason Biggs) and wife Michelle (Alyson Hannigan), though happily married, find their sex life waning, they decide to spice things up in one of the most unlikeliest places imaginable: on a trip to their high-school reunion.

If you're feeling a little skeptical about American Reunion, the fourth go around for the original cast of the American Pie franchise, don't worry, it appears they were just as disinterested. Jim (Jason Biggs), Kevin (Thomas Ian Nicholas), Oz (Chris Klein), Finch (Eddie Kaye Thomas) and Stifler (Seann William Scott) are back and all grown up, but while they may have matured as people, their characters haven't. You can almost hear each actor saying, "I'm too old for this s--t," with every line spoken. The lack of excitement oozes out of the screen as the late '90s comedy tries it's hardest to fit into a world dominated by Judd Apatow productions, which is to say humping a warm apple pie is no longer considered "funny" but showing your penis smashed against your thigh courtesy of a glass top lid apparently is. Yes, that happens. No, it's not funny.

“American Reunion” begins with the franchise’s typical sexual misunderstanding played for casual sitcom laughs. Married couple Jim (Jason Biggs) and Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) are preparing for bedtime when she excuses herself to take a late night bath. Without saying a word, Jim watches her leave before visiting bookmarked porn sites on his laptop computer, pleasing himself with a sock filled with what can only be considered an excessive amount of lubrication. Through a few prepackaged pratfalls too implausible to properly explain, Jim and Michelle’s pre-pubescent son learns that Mommy and Daddy had been pleasuring themselves in separate rooms, and lack the self-awareness to properly shield themselves when caught. The camera stays fixed on the silent milieu of an embarrassed Michelle shrinking underneath the bubbles in her bathtub, and Jim clenching the bleeding tip of his crotch, the two of them separated by a shower handle excitedly dancing across the tiles.

I never had to go through an entire semester or term of sex ed. In fact all I had to learn about sex came from me sneaking into a theater to watch American Pie. You know movie hopping. And I remember the poster for American Pie as much as the movie itself. So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that the American Reunion poster looks vaguely similar to the first movie poster for American Pie.
While the first American Pie poster had a lot of skin and boob, this one doesn’t Look at the American Reunion title blocking Tara Reid’s chest, now look at the America Pie poster, see the difference? The American Reunion poster also shows the history that has happened between this movie and the first one.

[1] Since so much of the appeal of American Reunion lies in whatever lingering affection you have for 1999's American Pie, it's only natural that the marketing folks would try at every turn to remind you of how much you loved the first movie. That tactic is especially evident in the film's just-released poster, which recreates the one from the original. Sure, Jim (Jason Biggs) has clothes on, Michelle (Alyson Hannigan) is holding a baby bottle instead of a flute, Oz (Chris Klein) has way less hair, and the gang is apparently eating pies now instead of fucking them -- but the overall picture looks very familiar. Check it out after the jump. Here's the American Reunion poster: [2] And for comparison, the American Pie one: [3][both posters via Movies.com [4]] I'm really hoping that the substitution of a baby bottle for the flute doesn't imply that Michelle will be doing to the former in this installment...

[1] Tough as it is to believe, it's been over a decade since we first met the American Pie cast in 1999. If that made you pause and think "Wow, that makes me feel old," you're just where Universal Pictures wants you to be. The marketing team behind American Reunion has been pushing the nostalgia angle (not surprisingly), and I, for one, have found it totally effective. Their latest effort is a montage of the core cast goofing off inside a photobooth -- a simple idea that might nevertheless have you going "awww" as each familiar face flashes by. Hit the jump to see the slideshow, plus a promo image of the Class of 1999. And here's a small still of the old gang: [2] [via Vulture [3]] Seeing everyone together again, it's striking how some of the actors look exactly the same while others have changed considerably. Universal Pictures have released an early teaser poster for the eagerly-awaited (at least by me) sequel, American Reunion, aka American Pie 4, which comes from the writer/director duo of Jon Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg and sees original series stars Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Chris Klein, Eugene Levy, Tara Reid, Shannon Elizabeth, Mena Suvari, and Natasha Lyonne all return, alongside franchise newcomers Chuck Hittinger, Jay Harrington, Ali Cobrin, Dania Ramirez, and Katrina Bowden.
In the comedy American Reunion, all the American Pie characters we met a little more than a decade ago are returning to East Great Falls for their high-school reunion. In one long-overdue weekend, they will discover what has changed, who hasn’t and that time and distance can’t break the bonds of friendship. It was summer 1999 when four small-town Michigan boys began a quest to lose their virginity. In the years that have passed,...

The alumni of East Great Falls are heading home for their 10 year high school reunion in the next (and possibly final) installment of the American Pie film franchise from Universal Pictures. The original trilogy -- that ended in 2003 with American Wedding -- is a franchise which spawned the resurgence of teen sex comedies. Although many original cast members were absent from even the third film, Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Alyson Hannigan, Thomas Ian Nicholas, Chris Klein, Eugene Levy, Tara Reid, Shannon Elizabeth, Mena Suvari, Natasha Lyonne, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Jennifer Coolidge are all tapped to return for American Reunion. [1] We're already aware of many of the plot points that'll be covered in American Reunion, the forthcoming eighth(!) installment of the American Pie franchise. Basically, the new film will see the whole gang from the first film come together once more for their high school reunion. Some things will have changed; other things not so much. (I'm going to guess that the gross, raunchy humor will be part of the "not so much" category.) Now a new synopsis has been revealed, and it reveals just one more tidbit: Apparently, one of the characters is still pining for a certain lusty lady whom he bedded in the original American Pie. (Um, spoilers for a twelve-year-old movie.) Read the studio-approved official plot details after the jump. [1] Inglourious Basterds and Beginners actress Melanie Laurent is set to star opposite Jesse Eisenberg in Louis Leterrier's magician heist movie Now You See Me. The story revolves around FBI agents hunting down a group of world-famous bank-robbing magicians (sorry, illusionists [2]) who shower their audiences with the stolen cash. Jake Gyllenhaal, who was previously offered [3] a role, has since passed. No news has been announced regarding either Philip Seymour Hoffman or Olivia Wilde, who were also circling parts in the film. The involvement of Laurent and Eisenberg seems like a good sign, though -- both actors have good track records, and are probably big and respected enough to help draw in other high-quality talent. Natasha Lyonne is the sh*t. With Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott, Chris Klein, Alyson Hannigan, Thomas Ian Nichols, Eugene Levy and the rest of the American Pie regulars set to return, the cast of American Reunion, the fourth installment in the American Pie franchise, is expanding.
Deadline reports that Jay Harrington (Better Off Ted) and Ali Cobrin (The Hole) have joined the cast. Harrington will play the doctor boyfriend of Mena Suvari's character and Cobrin will play a high school senior looking to give away her virginity to the perfect guy. While we're sure that Stifler (Scott) will try his best to prove his worth, so might Chuck Hittinger.
Variety reports Hittinger (Pretty Little Liars) has been cast as Marco, a high school jock and bully who doesn't treat his girlfriend well. Could Hittinger's girlfriend be Cobrin? It's likely, but unconfirmed.
Katrina Bowden (30 Rock, the upcoming Piranha 3Dd) has also joined the cast, Variety reports separately.

First thought upon hearing the plot for the just-announced comedy Save the Date: "another goddamn wedding movie?" First thought after seeing the cast: "I can't believe I'm going to be excited to see another goddamn wedding movie!" The script focuses on two sisters and their approaches to life and marriage: "one who's happy with the status quo and doesn't see any reason to marry her musician boyfriend while the other's obsessed with planning her upcoming wedding." (Melancholia much?) But the cast is already impressive: Alison Brie (Community, Mad Men) and Lizzy Caplan (Mean Girls, Party Down) play the sisters and Marin Starr (Adventureland, Party Down), Geoffrey Arend (Super Troopers) and Mark Weber (Scott Pilgrim) are the supporting cast we've got so far. And I don't need any more than that -- ticket sold. The script is by graphic novelist Jeffrey Brown, and Mike Mohan will direct the film in July in La.
