These days, Netflix’s global chart is reigned supreme by the 2007 neo-noir thriller titled Disturbia. This Shia Labeouf’s flick, which follows a teenage boy who starts spying on his neighbors and suspecting that one of them is a serial killer, gradually puts more and more suspense, until the main mystery is solved and the audience is relieved.
Surprisingly, Disturbia’s synopsis is really reminiscent of the plot of another thriller must-watch, and some Redditors believe it’s even better. It also explores the topic of serial killers, but from quite a different angle.
The movie’s story revolves around Julia, a young actress, who relocates to Bucharest with her husband but finds the city unwelcoming. There she learns of a murderer, dubbed the Spider by local media and notorious for decapitating his female victims.

The previous teasers for The Blackcoat's Daughter director Osgood Perkins' next feature, Longlegs, have been very effective in building an aura of unsettling dread around the mysterious horror flick, but this latest trailer really takes things to another level.
Though the movie is still playing things relatively close to the chest when it comes to revealing specific plot details, this footage does give us a little more to go on, as rookie FBI agent Lee Harker (It Follows star Maika Monroe) becomes obsessed with tracking down a sadistic serial killer (Nicolas Cage) who targets families - and might just have supernatural abilities.
Harker has a personal connection to the killer (did she survive an earlier attack?), which leads her down an even darker path and into the world of the Occult.

Too often, film trailers tend to give the whole game away. But clearly Osgood Perkins — son of Psycho star Anthony Perkins and director of underrated chiller Gretel & Hansel — didn't get the memo. His latest, Nicolas Cage and Maika Monroe-starring occult serial killer chiller Longlegs, has enjoyed an unnerving slew of cryptic teasers and promo posters — and the latest is no different. Check out the new trailer for the film below;
"Is it scary being a lady FBI agent?" an inquisitive kid asks Maika Monroe's (It Follows) Lee Harker. "Yeah," Lee replies. And honestly, on present evidence, that's fair. With its The Silence Of The Lambs-esque combo of crime-thriller procedural and out-and-out horror flourishes, this first full trailer for Perkins' latest has us all kinds of creeped out. From Nicolas Cage's whisper-voiced, straggly-haired weirdo killer, to the satanic symbology and fly-infested crime scenes glimpsed, to the jaundiced Zodiac-esque palette of the whole thing,...

Maika Monroe and Nicolas Cage star in summer horror movie Longlegs, and a full trailer for the film has landed. Here…
We reported last week that the full trailer for Osgood Perkins’ Longlegs had emerged in US cinemas and made its way onto social media. Well, US distibutor Neon has now released the full trailer online and it seems to differ from the one that leaked on social media.
Take a look at the full trailer below:
Well, that was rather creepy. Osgood Perkins has been creating a steady reputation as the master of dread with his previous films, but Longlegs looks like it takes that creep-factor to a whole new level.
Nicolas Cage is said to be playing the titular serial killer that Maika Monroe’s FBI agent is hunting and we certainly hear him in the trailer, but we haven’t actually got a look of him yet.

Nicolas Cage is one of the most respected and talented actors in Hollywood. His works have become ingrained in the very fabric of cinema, establishing him as a true legend. A lot of his success can be credited to his diversity as an actor, being able to star in any genre under the sun. From action to romance, science fiction to drama, no classification is too caging for him.
Nicolas Cage and Pedro Pascal in The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent
Despite this, there is still one beloved genre the actor has been absent from; horror. While he has been in some memorable films, they always tie in with other genres like comedy or thrillers. Serious supernatural films are rarely seen from Cage. That was, until now.

"Is it scary being a lady FBI agent?" "Yep..." Neon has debuted the full-length official trailer for Longlegs, arriving in theaters nationwide starting this July. We've featured the other cryptic teasers before as well as the incredible first official trailer for this film a few months ago. This is the final "payoff" trailer that has the most footage yet. Harker soon discovers a personal connection to the killer and must stop him before he strikes again. Longlegs is the creation of director Oz Perkins. The horror film stars Maika Monroe as Lee Harker, Nicolas Cage, Alicia Witt, Blair Underwood, and Dakota Daulby. This looks So creepy and extra frightening & disturbing - and the buzz from early reviews is that this seriously is one of the best horror films...

If there's one thing that actor Maika Monroe is going to do, it's put on a brilliant performance in a critically-acclaimed horror movie that's destined to be underseen and underappreciated by most of the general moviegoing public at large. The scream queen's first real breakthrough role came in 2014's "The Guest" and she wasted no time following that up with "It Follows" (which is receiving a sequel with the original cast reprising their roles), 2022's criminally underrated "Watcher," and the Paramount+ original "Significant Other."
This time, however, the star is backed up by none other than Nicolas Cage and actor-turned-director Oz Perkins on "Longlegs" in the hopes that audiences will be right on time to appreciate whatever scares and compelling imagery await. This latest horror feature comes with a fair amount of hype behind it, with previous trailers setting the stage for an occult thriller with one heck of an unsettling sense of atmosphere.

Nicolas Cage just might be the most terrifying serial killer onscreen…if he really is the murderer.
Cage stars in and produces “Longlegs,” the latest horror film from writer/director Oz Perkins who previously helmed “The Blackcoat’s Daughter” (2015), “I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House” (2016), and “Greta and Hansel” (2020).
Perkins, the son of “Psycho” star Anthony Perkins, is officially credited as Osgood Perkins for “Longlegs.” The film is produced by Cage’s Saturn Pictures, Range, Traffic, Oddfellows, and C2 Motion Picture Group. Actress
The feature centers on a series of occult murders that are connected to an FBI detective’s (Maika Monroe) past. A cold case is reawakened; Cage, Blair Underwood, and Alicia Witt co-star in the film.

Nicolas Cage never went away, but he’s had a recent career resurgence. “Pig” and “The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent” were both critical successes for the star. Last year’s more commercial “Renfield” put Cage’s talent front and center as he took on the iconic, villainous role of Dracula. And the surreal, nuanced turn in “Dream Scenario” even put him back in the Oscar conversation last year, even if he ultimately missed a nomination.

Distributor Neon seems to have had the marketing department working overtime to promote the July 12th theatrical release date of Longlegs, the latest horror project from The Blackcoat’s Daughter (a.k.a. February), I Am the Pretty Thing That Lives in the House, and Gretel & Hansel director Osgood Perkins. We’ve seen a whole lot of cryptic teasers and posters for this movie, mostly accompanied by strange quotes… but today a trailer has made its way online that takes a more traditional approach to promoting the film, giving us an idea of how the story plays and spending some time setting up the lead character, played by Maika Monroe of It Follows and The Guest. You can check it out in the embed above.

In an era of marketing where most studios just drop a full-length trailer on YouTube and in theaters, hoping viewers will be impressed enough to buy tickets even though they’ve often already unveiled the best parts, the distributors that go a different path have our attention. Such is the case for Oz Perkins’ forthcoming mystery horror feature Longlegs, for which Neon has dropped a handful of teasers and posters leading up to now a full trailer, which thankfully still keeps the mysterious.
Ahead of a July 12 release, they’ve now unveiled a 2.5-minute teaser, showing Maika Monroe on the hunt for Nicolas Cage. Neon has bought North American rights to “The Unknown” (“L’Inconnue”), the hotly anticipated next movie from “Anatomy of a Fall”’s Oscar-winning co-writer Arthur Harari.
As revealed by Variety earlier this week, the movie will star Léa Seydoux (“Dune 2”) and is being represented in international markets. Harari is rolling off of “Anatomy of a Fall” which he co-wrote with director Justine Triet, abd won an Oscar, two Golden Globes, a BAFTA and the Palme d’Or at last year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The deal was negotiated by Neon’s president of acquisitions and production Jeff Deutchman with producer Nicolas Anthomé on behalf of the filmmakers, and marks Neon’s second collaboration with Harari following last year’s “Anatomy of a Fall” which Neon acquired out of Cannes in 2023 before it won the Palme d’Or for that year. This deal further cements Neon’s commitment to bringing top-of-the-line international cinema to U.

Neon has picked up North American rights to The Unknown, the next feature from Anatomy of a Fall writer Arthur Harari.
Léa Seydoux is set to star in the film, which Neon has said it will release in U.S. and Canadian theaters in 2026. Harari also serves as director on the pic, which will be produced by bathysphere, with Pathé co-producing and selling the film internationally in Cannes.
The Unknown is the third feature both written and directed by Harari. His previous feature as writer-director was 2021’s critically acclaimed Onoda: 10,000 Nights in the Jungle which opened Un Certain Regard at Cannes that year and went on to win the Best Original Screenplay César. He wrote the screenplay for Sibyl (2019), directed by Justine Triet, which was in the Official Competition at Cannes that year.

Neon is plunging into the great unknown with Léa Seydoux and filmmaker Arthur Harari. The indie outfit has landed North American rights to The Unknown, and appropriate for its title, its logline is currently unknown.

Neon is here to crawl into your Tuesday and make it creepy. A new Longlegs trailer is perplexing horror fans today with a cryptic and extended look at Osgood Perkins’s bizarre-looking serial killer film. The theatrical cut of the “Dirty” and “Sweet” teasers explore two main characters of the film: FBI Agent Harker (Maika Monroe) and the serial killer, Longlegs, played by Nicolas Cage.
In the Longlegs trailer, Perkins fills the screen with disturbing imagery and perplexing prose, teasing events from a bizarre trip into the heart of darkness.
Longlegs follows FBI agent Lee Harker, “a gifted new recruit assigned to the unsolved case of an elusive serial killer. As the case takes complex turns, unearthing evidence of the occult, Harker discovers a personal connection to the merciless killer and must race against time to stop him before he claims the lives of another innocent family.”

Exclusive: Academy Award winner Anthony Hopkins (Freud’s Last Session) has signed on to star in Bruno Penguin and the Staten Island Princess, the latest film from director Nick Cassavetes. Billed as the first-ever major Hollywood production to shoot in Antarctica, the film also has Shia Labeouf (Padre Pio) in talks to star and will enter production in November.
Scripted by Daniel Barnz and Ned Zeman, Bruno Penguin is based on a Vanity Fair article from the latter which tells the true story of adventurous Swiss photographer Bruno Zehnder, a superb artist who spent the last 20 years of his life in Antarctica photographing Emperor penguins. He was obsessed by them – their kindness, the way they lived, their deep levels of affection for one another. Bruno spent his life trying to learn how to communicate with them and over time, the colonies grew to know him and return his fondness.

After serving as the U.S. distributor for Julia Ducournau’s Palme d’Or-winning 2021 body horror Titane, Neon is getting back into business with the filmmaker as the North American distributor for her next genre-bending feature, Alpha.
Golshifteh Farahani (Paterson) and Tahar Rahim (The Mauritanian) are set to star, with production on the film to kick off next fall. Details as to the plot of the film are under wraps.
Producers are Jean des Forêts and Amelie Jacquis of Petit Film and Eric & Nicolas Altmayer of Mandarin & Compagnie, with Frakas Productions co-producing. Charades and FilmNation Entertainment are handling sales in the rest of the world during the Cannes Film Festival.

Nicolas Cage is going back into the Spider-Verse. Amazon, during its first-ever upfront presentation, announced that Cage will star in “Noir,” the live-action series based on the Spider-Man Noir comic series from Marvel.
Way back in early 2023, IndieWire reported that Amazon was in development on a live-action series inspired by the Spider-Man Noir character, who Cage famously portrayed in the animated “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” as a grizzled, tortured, black-and-white noir gumshoe who also happened to be a superhero bitten by a radioactive spider. But no cast had been confirmed for the live-action show, and Amazon surprised advertisers by revealing that Cage would step back into the role, making it the first time he’s done a TV series since he filmed a pilot at the start of his career.

If you’ve been to your local movie theater in the last several weeks you might’ve seen a trailer for Longlegs that was longer than the ones we’ve been getting online, with the latest trailer for Neon’s new horror movie being split into two parts here on the internet. But that full theatrical trailer, which had been exclusively playing in theaters, is now available online.
Longlegs heads to theaters on July 12, 2024. Watch the full trailer below.
The upcoming serial killer horror movie marks the return of director Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter, Gretel & Hansel). Nicolas Cage stars alongside Maika Monroe, with Monroe playing an FBI agent and Cage playing a serial killer.

Considering how much build-up Longlegs has had – with the stream of teasers, posters and symbols – the horror film had a lot to live up to, at least how it was being marketed. Fortunately for the involved parties, Longlegs looks to be one of the horror flicks to see so far this year, with most praising it for being an unnerving work that features stellar performances and channels The Silence of the Lambs.
Check out some of the early reviews of Longlegs below:
I was so lucky to see #Longlegs, and no exaggeration: it could be the best horror film of ‘24. Oz Perkins can really get under my skin; this is his masterpiece. Monroe gives a fabulously unique lead performance, and Cage? Nightmarish. Maybe the scariest 1st 10 mins, ever. pic.twitter.com/ImMEDDxGXi

Horror fans have been keeping a very close eye on director Osgood Perkins' next project, and the first social media reactions for the mysterious Longlegs are in.
These reactions are highly positive, and it sounds like the movie is a genuinely disturbing, terrifying experience.
Though Longlegs definitely seems to be keeping its biggest secrets firmly under wraps for the time being (and the teasers are all the better for it), we do know that the plot revolves around a rookie FBI agent (It Follows star Maika Monroe) attempting to track down a sadistic serial killer (Nicolas Cage) who targets families.
Cage's character has largely been kept out of the marketing, aside from one unsettling shot.
Check out the social media posts below, and keep an eye out for a new trailer.

Hannah Marks started acting when she was 6 years old, after seeing her mother’s acting reel. And she’s pretty much worked nonstop, from roles in the films “Accepted” and “The Runaways” to the cast of “Dirk Gently’s Holistic Detective Agency.” In fact, just last year she took her first vacation — though she confesses to recording several self-tapes during it.
In recent years, she has also made a (forgive me) mark behind the camera as a filmmaker, beginning with writing and directing “After Everything,” The indie film starred Jeremy Allen White as a young man diagnosed with bone cancer who embarks on a new relationship, premiering at the SXSW Film Festival in 2018.
That same year, she landed the coveted directing job of the film adaptation of John Green’s beloved novel “Turtles All the Way Down.” The story focuses on a teenage girl named Aza (Isabela Merced) struggling with...

Here’s what we know about Longlegs so far. It’s coming in July of 2024, it’s directed by Osgood Perkins (The Blackcoat’s Daughter), and it features Maika Monroe (It Follows) as an FBI agent who discovers a personal connection between her and a serial killer who has ties to the occult. We know that the serial killer is going to be played by none other than Nicolas Cage and that the marketing has been nothing short of cryptic excellence up to this point.
At the very least, we can assume Neon’s upcoming film is going to be a dark, horror-fueled hunt for a serial killer. With that in mind, let’s take a look at five disturbing serial killers-versus-law-enforcement stories to get us even more jacked up for Longlegs.

Dane Dehaan and Maika Monroe lead the cast of Hulu's 2024 horror hit, The Stranger.
The new film follows a rideshare driver whose life is endangered after a mysterious passenger gets in her car.
The premise may sound familiar, and that is because it is. The Stranger was first released as an original TV series on the now-defunct streaming service Quibi before being re-edited into a feature-length film for Hulu.

Remember Quibi? The short-lived streaming service-turned-punchline, which vastly overestimated how many people felt compelled to watch bite-sized shows and movies on their phones, seems to have done one thing right before being folded into the Roku Channel: allowing creators to retain ownership of their work after a two-year exclusivity window. Not content to let her 13-part thriller series “The Stranger” disappear along with the platform on which it debuted, “The Killing” creator Veena Sud recut the project into a feature film alongside editor Philip Fowler. Gone are the 8-minute episodes named after the hour in which they take place (beginning with 7 p.m. and ending at 7 a.m.), replaced by a 98-minute Hulu feature that shows no sign of having been overhauled.
Six days after moving to Los Angeles with her dog Pebbles, rideshare driver Clare (Maika Monroe) picks up Carl E. (Dane DeHaan) from a mansion that doesn’t belong to him.

I still have fond memories of gathering around the TV with my family on Sunday nights to watch Veena Sud's captivating TV series The Killing (based on Forbrydelsen by Søren Sveistrup), so I'm especially thrilled that Veena's 2020 Quibi series The Stranger (starring Maika Monroe as a rideshare driver who encounters a killer client played by Dane DeHaan) has been recut and re-released as a feature film that's now streaming on Hulu!

Coming on the heels of Baz Luhrman’s decision to re-edit “Australia” into a mini-series for Hulu, taking an already long film and stretching it well beyond its breaking point in “Faraway Downs,” Veena Sud has chosen to do the opposite for the streaming service. Taking her forgotten Quibi show “The Stranger” — a short-form web series about a rideshare driver (Maika Monroe) who picks up a deranged stalker (Dane DeHaan), leading to the worst night of life — and reformatting it as a lean 90-minute film, Sud recontextualizes Quibi’s ten-minute episodes into a highly episodic, and occasionally bumpy, thriller.

Writer/director Veena Sud‘s Hulu movie “The Stranger” is a one-night thriller that allows for only a couple of scenes before rideshare driver Clare (Maika Monroe) realizes she’s made a horrible mistake picking up passenger Carl (Dane DeHaan). From that point, the movie is a nonstop adrenaline rush and so perfectly paced that the most surprising thing about it is that it didn’t begin as a feature film at all — this new Hulu movie is a re-edit of a series Sud initially made for Quibi.
Before its swift demise, Quibi was a platform designed for people to watch shows in 10-minute episodes on their phones, with content presented in dual simultaneous aspect ratios so that one could watch the episodes either vertically or horizontally. The unique format provided filmmakers like Sud, Mark Pellington, and Catherine Hardwicke opportunities to experiment with new ways of storytelling; it also gave...

"You wanna know how this ends?" Hulu has revealed an official trailer for an intense horror thriller titled The Stranger, arriving for streaming this month. Not to be confused with the British series The Stranger, or the Australian crime film The Stranger. Some of you may recognize this, it was initially conceived as an hour-by-hour series for the app Quibi. After that app went under, it's been re-edited and reset for release as a feature film streaming on Hulu, but without much fanfare. Maika Monroe stars as a recent transplant to the Los Angeles Valley scraping by as a rideshare driver. One night, she picks up Carl at a Hollywood Hills Mansion. He appears pleasant at first, but that facade is shattered when he reveals himself to be a violent, misogynistic murderer. There have been a few other rideshare horror recently including Spree and Ride. Co-starring Dane DeHaan and Avan Jogia.

Veena Sud is no stranger to the tangled streaming rights game when it comes to distribution.
After her Quibi series folded, the filmmaker is now bringing her breakout horror hit “The Stranger” to Hulu with a new director’s cut. “Longlegs” actress and horror staple Maika Monroe plays a rideshare driver who goes through a twelve-hour fight for survival when she picks up Carl (Dane DeHaan), a passenger who becomes her worst nightmare. Avan Jogia co-stars in the former series which is now a feature film.
“The Stranger” began as a Quibi series, which meant that Sud co-owned the copyright to the work, as part of the Quibi business model. Sud is now able to “self-distribute” the footage, recut as a feature.

Getting into a rideshare is a gamble. To begin with, you are getting into a car with a complete stranger and then spending an extended amount of time with this stranger in an enclosed space that isn’t easy to exit. It’s a situation ripe for the horror movie treatment. Over the past several years, as Uber, Lyft, and other rideshare companies have taken off, we have seen several movies utilize the scenario, namely “Spree” (2021) and “Ride” (2018).
