In between drags of cigarette smoke, Patty and Selma Bouvier are likely freaking out over the idea of a new Matlock series coming to CBS. The Matlock reboot gets a new star today with Beau Bridges joining the cast. Bridges replaces Jayme Sheridan, who starred in the pilot, to act opposite Kathy Bates in the updated version. CBS’ Matlock debuts in 2024-25 after the strike delayed production.
CBS’ Matlock hails from Jennie Snyder Urman and stars Bates as Madeline “Matty” Matlock, a sharp-minded septuagenarian with a stellar track record for solving cases. After being away from the game for years, Matlock rejoins the workforce at a distinguished law firm, where she uses her years of experience and unique tactics to achieve justice. At her new place of employment, Matty teams up with Olympia (Skye P. Marshall), a senior attorney and key rainmaker who thirsts for fair play. Olympia’s ex-husband,...

"Brooklyn Nine-Nine" is, hands down, one of the funniest sitcoms in recent TV history. The Andy Samberg-led detective comedy lost a bit of its considerable charm with a final season that attempted (perhaps ultimately unsuccessfully) to grapple with timely discussions about policing, but for the vast majority of the show's eight-season run, it was an energetic and uproarious fan favorite. As Mike Schur's follow-up to "Parks and Recreation" (Schur co-created "Nine-Nine" with Dan Goor), "Brooklyn Nine-Nine" continued the writers' knack for creating quick-witted and endearing workplace sitcoms that are perfect binge-watch material.
Along with Samberg's goofy detective Jake Peralta, an all-star cast rounds out New York's 99th precinct. Stephanie Beatriz's menacing Rosa, Melissa Fumero's perfectionist Amy, Joe Lo Truglio's awkward but loyal Boyle, and Terry Crews' family man Terry are among the show's featured players, but no one on the cast list brought quite as...

Just a couple days before Andre Braugher’s untimely passing at the age of 61, I was thinking about the actor’s performance on “Brooklyn Nine-Nine.”
Mike Schur and Dan Goor’s eight-season comedy (which premiered on Fox and then moved to NBC) was full of dazzling performances and hysterical one-liners, but out of nowhere I found myself thinking about Braugher’s mic-drop from Season 1’s Thanksgiving episode: “My wife was killed by a man in a yellow sweater.” Aside from being exactly the kind of jarringly memorable line that one might recall at random with no context, it’s a critical moment that shows his character, the seemingly by-the-book and buttoned up Raymond Holt, is not opposed to some light shenanigans when the situation calls for it — and crash course in Braugher’s masterclass of impeccable timing.
Braugher’s filmography kicks off in the late-1980s, where he proved himself...

Everyone's favorite globe-trotting, brown jacket-wearing, and ethically dubious archaeologist is returning to the spotlight. That's right: 12 years after being fired by the Smithsonian, Rip Digman is coming out of retirement and eager to prove he's still got what it takes to be a world-class "Archie." To quote the man, the myth, the legend himself in the newly-unveiled "Digman!" trailer, "The only dating I'm interested in ... is carbon dating."
"Digman!," which is set to drop on Comedy Central a few months before that so-called world-renowned professor of archeology, Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Jr., heads out for his final adventure in "Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny," is an adult animated comedy series created by Andy Samberg and Neil Campbell. Get ready to meet your new favorite archaeologist hero, Rip Digman! Comedy Central has revealed the first-look trailer for the animated series "Digman!" which stars Andy Samberg in the lead role. What's more, this is the first animated series ever to be written and produced by Samberg, along with his co-creator and showrunner Neil Campbell ("Brooklyn Nine-Nine"). And rest assured, Samberg is just the tip of the iceberg as far as the cast goes.
The series is set in a world where archaeologists are massive celebrities and the coolest people on the planet. That premise, it turns out, was capable of getting some major talent to lend their voices. The A-list ensemble includes Clancy Brown ("Spongebob Squarepants"), Andy Daly ("Review"), Cole Escola ("Difficult People"), Harvey Guillen ("Harley Quinn"), Kirby Howell-Baptiste ("Queenpins"), Marc Evan Jackson ("The Good Place"), Rachel Kaly ("High Maintenance"), Kerri Kenney ("Reno 9-1-1"), Lauren Lapkus ("Jurassic World...

Could “The Baby-Sitters Club” be making a comeback? The series was canceled by Netflix after two seasons earlier this year in March, and talk has swirled since about the series being shopped for a revival — or at least a TV movie — elsewhere.
But now there’s a bit more momentum for the show: “The Baby-Sitters Club” won two awards at the Children & Family Emmys this weekend, for both outstanding writing for a live action preschool or children’s program and outstanding children’s or family viewing series.
“We’re talking about it in a very preliminary way, talking about if we can bring it somewhere else. Or if we could do maybe like a movie, like kind of a wrap up special,” executive producer Rachel Shukert told Variety. “The girls obviously are older now than they were when we started and they’ve really grown up. Last year’s reboot of Ann M. It would have been easy for creator Rachel Shukert to rest on that goodwill. Instead, Season 2 of the Netflix original series is just as heartfelt, fun, and charming as Season 1 while simultaneously growing along with its characters.
In Season 1, the series already laid the foundation by creating the club itself and the central conflicts that would necessitate the club’s impact on its characters. 1. “Colin in Black and White” (available October 29)
Why Should I Watch? Wow, where to begin? I guess you have to start with the man himself, Colin Kaepernick. The former NFL quarterback who shined a spotlight on police brutality and systemic oppression through protest serves as co-creator and onscreen narrator in his six-part coming-of-age story. Then there’s Ava DuVernay — the Oscar-nominated filmmaker behind “Selma” and “When They See Us” handles co-creator, executive producer, and pilot director duties (and she also directs all of Kaepernick’s present-day scenes). Jaden Michael will play Young Colin, and really, that sums up all you need to know. Since his on-field protests, Kaepernick hasn’t been offered a position in the NFL, despite two appearances in the NFC Championship game, one Super Bowl, and the sixth-best touchdown-to-interception ratio in league history. Sanchez is replacing Xochitl Gomez, who portrayed Dawn Schafer in Season 1, but who departed due to scheduling conflicts connected to her participation in Doctor Strange 2. Gomez will star opposite Benedict Cumberbatch in the role of teen superhero America Chavez.
Vivian Watson and Anais Lee will portray junior babysitters and best friends Mallory Pike and Jessi Ramsey.
Mallory and Jessi‘s characters were introduced in the Season 1 finale, but they will be fully welcomed into the Baby-Sitters Club in Season 2.

Netflix announced the second season of “The Baby-Sitters Club” will premiere on Oct. 11.
“The Baby-Sitters Club,” based on the best-selling book series of the same name by Ann M. Martin, follows a group of friends as they start a baby-sitting business in Stoneybrook, Conn. As they juggle their new responsibilities as local caregivers, they also face friendship challenges with each other, various pressures from their home lives and unique situations that include diabetes (for Stacey), an absentee father (for Kristy) and parents who are dating each other (for Mary Ann and Dawn).
“In Season 2, we really get to see a maturation of the club and of the girls,” said creator and showrunner Rachel Shukert in a statement. “There are two new members [and] they’re all a year older and have more experience running a business, deeper friendships and are growing into a deeper understanding of themselves as people.

When last we saw the gang from Brooklyn Nine-Nine, Andy Samberg’s Jake Peralta was passing his new baby son McClane — named, of course, for Bruce Willis’ character in Jake’s beloved Die Hard — off to wife Amy Santiago (Melissa Fumero) so he could watch a cell phone video of Captain Holt (Andre Braugher) and Terry Jeffords (Terry Crews) performing a hip-hop dance routine together. It was a gently silly moment on a show that had long made gentle silliness its stock in trade. It was not necessarily meant as a series finale,...

The trailer for Brooklyn Nine-Nine‘s eighth and final season is heavy on bromance — and returning guest stars.
NBC on Thursday offered the first significant footage from the NBC comedy’s longgg-delayed farewell run (premiering Thursday, Aug. 12, at 8/7c), which begins with a fur-coated Charles envisioning a future where he and Jake are no longer partners. In doing so, Boyle brings his best bud to tears.

There aren’t many recognizable faces in “Finding ‘Ohana,” Netflix’s adorably entertaining reimagining of “The Goonies” set in Hawaii. Though Chris Parnell and Marc Evan Jackson jazz up some very funny “Drunk History”-inspired scenes, the speaking roles include Branscombe Richmond, a veteran Hawaiian actor who played owner of the bar where Jason Segel sings his Dracula musical in “Forgetting Sarah Marshall.” There’s also Ke Huy Quan, harder to recognize since his 20-year retirement from acting, in a supporting role. Quan was a childhood hero for many Asian American kids, who first saw themselves onscreen in his performances in “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom” and of course, “The Goonies.”
One of those kids was Jude Weng, now a prolific director on beloved TV comedies “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend,” “The Good Place,” and “Fresh Off the Boat,” making her splashy feature debut with “Finding ‘Ohana.” (The film reached the...

Director Jude Weng’s “Finding ‘Ohana” starts on a good note and continues that feeling through most of its story, which focuses on a tween girl and her family searching for buried treasure while reconnecting with each other and their Hawaiian heritage. Paying homage to adventure movies like “The Goonies,” “Dora and the Lost City of Gold” and “Tomb Raider” without blatantly mimeographing them, this family-friendly, character-forward feature from Netflix charms as well as entertains. Yet by the time the first hour has ended, a slight fatigue encroaches on the effervescent fun and it begins to lose its way.
After winning a competition that involves a high-intensity race around the streets of New York City, 12-year-old Brooklynite Pilialoha “Pili” Kawena (Kea Peahu) expects to cash in her prize by spending a perfect summer vacation at a geocache camp in the Catskills. But those dreams are dashed when her semi-estranged Hawaiian...
