Irvin Kershner-directed The Empire Strikes Back from the Star Wars franchise is one of the highly recognized movies but it has a lot of behind-the-screen moments that would reshape the very outline of the movie. Thanks to the mastermind behind the franchise, George Lucas fans got the best treatment from the 1980 movie.

The Star Wars franchise is one of the highest-grossing franchises of all time and has spawned multiple films, shows, animated series, and comic books. The Galaxies created by George Lucas changed pop culture as well as blockbuster filmmaking since the first film was released in 1977. The film earned $775 million against a budget of $11 million.
While Lucas directed the first film in the original trilogy, he wanted to take more of a creative producer role in subsequent films of the original trilogy. The Empire Strikes Back was helmed by Irvin Kershner while Return of the Jedi was directed by Richard Marquand. However, Lucas reportedly first had David Lynch in mind for the latter.

10. The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (1967)
With the backdrop of the Civil War, The Good, the Bad and the Ugly is already pretty epic by default — but it only gets better. Three bounty hunters have to forge an uneasy alliance to find stolen gold before their competitor does, but they don’t trust each other and anyone else. High stakes, high tension, and pure adrenaline.
You can watch The Good, the Bad and the Ugly on Apple TV and Prime Video.
9. The Godfather (1972)
The first movie in Francis Ford Coppola’s iconic trilogy, The Godfather is often dubbed the best gangster movie in history, and that might just be right. Post-wwii America is still largely ruled by the mafia, and the wise and cunning Godfather leads one of them through tumultuous times as he prepares a transfer of power in the family.

James Mangold has had an interesting filmography over the years venturing in various genres and not typecasting himself to a certain type of filmmaker. Films like Girl Interrupted, Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, Logan, and Ford v Ferrari proved that Mangold could competently handle various genres with great relatability and emotional heft.

In the Star Wars universe, the lightsaber is an iconic part of the series as the weapon is not merely a tool used in the battle between a Sith and a Jedi. The glowing blade with striking colors like green, blue, purple, and red, captures the attention of the audience and the distinctive sound adds to its popularity.

Star Wars – one of the many phenomena that forever changed the landscape of pop culture in modern history – has brought us stories of unbridled joy, hope, love, friendship, camaraderie, candor, optimism in the face of utter loss, and resolution in the face of utter despair. And yet, there remain aspects of the narrative that are as mysterious today as they were 47 years ago.
After the first chapter of the story premiered with Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope, George Lucas established a new dynasty belonging to new-age superheroes who defied the rules and boundaries of this universe to achieve heroic deeds that resound throughout the entire galaxy.

In October 2012, Disney dropped a bombshell, announcing their acquisition of Lucasfilm and the entire Star Wars universe. Along with that, they also revealed they’ve also snagged a treatment for Episodes VII-ix directly from the mastermind himself, George Lucas. Yet, amidst the chaos, it was the Star Wars fans who were confused the most.
George Lucas [Photo: Joey Gannon/Wikimedia Commons]As it wasn’t a secret that Lucas was content to bid farewell to Star Wars after Episode VI: Return of the Jedi. He had no intentions of making a seventh installment. Thus, this left room for many to speculate. And the questions raised: Did Lucas’ vision shape the new era of the saga, or did Disney chart a different course entirely?

I vividly recall when the trailer for "Star Wars Rebels" season 3 debuted at Star Wars Celebration in 2016. When the promo unveiled Grand Admiral Thrawn -- the awesome Big Bad of Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire" novel trilogy from the Expanded Universe (aka Star Wars Legends) -- as the season's main threat, it was a fist-pump moment for fans of the EU. So, naturally, when the "Rebels" panel opened up to fan questions, one brave soul told "Rebels" co-creator/showrunner Dave Filoni the thing that was on everybody's minds: Do Mara Jade next!
Okay, they framed it as more of a query, but that was the gist.
Mara Jade, as it were, was introduced in "Heir to the Empire" as an assassin in the Emperor's Hand, a secret agent group that served Emperor Palpatine in the EU. A version of the Hand now exists is the Disney canon, but...

Mark Hamill has been synonymous with two classic characters in pop culture history. While he remains the face of Luke Skywalker in the Star Wars franchise, he lent his vocal talents to Batman’s arch-nemesis Joker in the Dcau. Beginning with Batman: The Animated Series, Hamill has lent his voice to the character in multiple Dcau shows and movies.
One of Hamill’s most distinctive qualities as the Joker is his laugh. The laugh of the animated Joker has been forever associated with the character and many have tried to emulate the maniacal nuance of Hamill’s iteration. The actor mentioned that he used the laugh not just to create an eerie characteristic but also to communicate his feelings with just a cackle.

For every DC fan who has been introduced to Batman, his foes, and Gotham City via Batman: The Animated Series, Mark Hamill will always be the preferred Joker. There’s no denying that Mark Hamill delivered an indomitable performance in the Star Wars franchise, but he will always prevail on top, for being the greatest voice for the Joker. If you’re a fan of the Mission: Impossible franchise, you owe a debt of gratitude to none other than Steven Spielberg. In a galaxy far, far away, the Skywalker name has always been synonymous with heroes, legends, and the ultimate battle between light and dark. With Rey Skywalker (Daisy Ridley) taking on the iconic family name at the end of J. J. Abrams’ 2019 flick, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, the legacy of the Skywalker lineage lives on in a new and powerful way.
Rey’s decision to become a Skywalker was not just a passing moment or a mere token of gratitude; it was a deeply personal and meaningful choice that honored the Jedi who had shaped her into the powerful Force-wielder she had become.

When “Star Wars: Episode I — The Phantom Menace” debuted on May 19, 1999, few movies before (or since) were greeted with more fevered anticipation. Not only was the movie the first new “Star Wars” movie in a generation, but it was touted as the first of a prequel trilogy charting the tragedy of Anakin Skywalker, the Jedi Knight fated to turn to the dark side as Darth Vader.
Despite the breathless build up, by the end of that summer, the near-universal consensus was that “The Phantom Menace” was, at best, a colossal disappointment and, at worst, a calamitous embarrassment. Some blamed the decision by George Lucas — directing for the first time since 1977’s “A New Hope” — to start the story with a precocious 9-year-old Anakin (Jake Lloyd). Others railed against the slapstick antics and pidgin English of Jar Jar Binks (Ahmed Best), hyped as the first-ever CG main character in a live-action movie.

The Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes is finally here, and both fans and critics have had the opportunity to voice their opinions on the movie and will be able to do it in the upcoming weeks. But, with more fans being able to see the movie, some theories about the characters and their inspirations about them have begun to surface and one of the more popular ones as far as the movie is concerned is the one that the film’s main villain, the ape monarch Proximus Caesar is actually based on controversial businessman Elon Musk.
Many fans have observed similarities between the villain of the film and Musk, leading to many of them believing that Elon Musk was the inspiration behind the character and as it seems, based on what Kevin Durand, the actor who portrayed Proximus Caesar said, it seems that Musk was, indeed, one of the inspirations for the character.

Bruce Timm’s Batman: The Animated Series, which kickstarted the DC Animated Universe (Dcau) is regarded as the best adaptation of the Caped Crusader by many. Besides the plot, one of the primary reasons for its popularity was the iconic voice castings. The late Kevin Conroy and Mark Hamill as Batman and Joker have left an indelible mark on the viewers’ minds.
Kevin Conroy’s Batman and Mark Hamill’s Joker
While Conroy is often hailed as the best Batman ever, Mark Hamill’s performance is considered even more praiseworthy than the critically acclaimed live-action works. However, the Star Wars star was not the first choice to play a Dcau role. It was only for voice director Andrea Romano, that Hamill could give us the legendary Joker performance.

Mark Hamill and Harrison Ford were major players in the original Star Wars trilogy as Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. As part of the Resistance fighting to bring down the tyrannical Empire, the two played integral roles in bringing it down. While the first film set up the world and the overall rivalry between the two, the sequels go all out with their war against each other.

The iconic lightsaber fight from Empire Strikes Back, and the twist, remain the most iconic moments in the franchise. Luke’s lightsaber was put on auction in 2017, a year before the passing of the franchise’s producer Gary Kurtz. The price of the lightsaber was less than Ford’s combined salary for the original trilogy.

Just when we thought that Star Wars trilogies were over after the release of Episode VII – Revenge of the Sith in 2005, Lucasfilm once again brought the story of the galaxy far, far away to life with the sequel trilogy. The Star Wars sequel trilogy, which included Episode VII—The Force Awakens, Episode VIII—The Last Jedi, and Episode IX—The Rise of Skywalker, featured some of the best actors of their time.
It saw the return of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and the late Carrie Fisher as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa.

Disney+ has shared the first teaser trailer for its new "four-piece" animated special, Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy.
Jar Jar Binks remains a divisive character among fans and it's long been theorised (jokingly...we think) that the Gungan was secretly a villain who set out to destroy the Galaxy. That's led to the "Darth Jar Jar" meme which this project is leaning into by finally introducing that version of a character who first debuted way back in 1999's The Phantom Menace.
And yes, Ahmed Best will reprise the role!

Even for a die-hard Star Wars fan like Ewan McGregor, the weight of carrying the franchise and one of its leading IPs can get a bit too much for his temperament. The legendary Jedi Master has had his fair share of troubles and hardships to overcome until his protégé Anakin Skywalker transformed into Darth Vader. A soul-crushing experience such as that one equated to a betrayal of everything he valued and reflected an utter failure on his part to save his friend from the Dark Side of the Force.

George Lucas created the Star Wars franchise back in 1977, which primarily revolves around the conflict between the light and dark side of the Force. In the first film, Lucas introduced several fascinating sci-fi elements that have become ingrained in modern pop culture and remain relevant even today.
The Lightsaber has been an iconic element of George Lucas’ Star Wars franchise.
One of these elements is the iconic Jedi weapon known as the Lightsaber. However, Lucas initially had an entirely different name in mind for the weapon. Moreover, fans would certainly have been unhappy with the name and it is hard to think the Lightsaber would have achieved the same level of popularity with the original name. Here is what George Lucas originally wanted to call Lightsabers.

Jar Jar Binks is one of the more reviled characters in the entire Star Wars franchise, and while he’s largely harmless, some fans wonder if he’s not hiding something darker and more sinister. Some have even theorized that Jar Jar is secretly a Sith Lord, and the new teaser trailer for Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy definitely plays into that by giving us… Darth Jar Jar. Check out the teaser below!

"History will be rebuilt." Get ready for some strange revisionist history in the Star Wars universe! Disney+ has revealed a wacky teaser trailer for their upcoming Sw Special titled Lego Star Wars: Rebuild the Galaxy, showrun by the screenwriters behind last year's Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem. Set for launch in September. A nerf-herder discovers an artifact that twists the Star Wars galaxy, swapping the roles of heroes and villains. He embarks on an adventure to restore order and emerge as the savior who reassembles the fractured galaxy. "You're going to see some things that you never thought possible." This is like Marvel's What If, but for Star Wars – including Ewok bounty hunters, Geonosian Jedi, and, amazingly, Darth Jar Jar voiced by Ahmed Best, along with the Dark Falcon, and much more. The talented voice cast features Gaten Matarazzo, Tony Revolori, Bobby Moynihan, Marsai Martin, Michael Cusack, & Mark Hamill back as Luke Skywalker.

For years, Jar Jar Binks took a beating from "Star Wars" fans who were less than thrilled with the computer generated character's slapstick antics when he debuted in "The Phantom Menace" back in 1999. The bumbling Gungan was so hated that actor Ahmed Best fell into a deep depression. In more recent years, the actor has taken on a new "Star Wars" role as Jedi Kelleran Beq, who rescued "The Mandalorian" bounty Grogu from the Jedi Temple when Order 66 was enacted during the events of "Revenge of the Sith." But soon, Ahmed Best will bring together both Jar Jar Binks and the power of the Force by bringing us a dark side version of the character that finally pays off a ridiculous fan theory.

One planet in particular, first introduced in "The Mandalorian" during its second season, gets the spotlight in the third episode of this series, "Path of Hate." Corvus was the setting for the 13th chapter of "The Mandalorian", showing us a blackened forest and a city named Calodan under the direct control of a magistrate named Morgan Elsbeth. Since this episode was our first introduction to Elsbeth, we didn't know who she was or how she took control of the planet, only that she was still aligned with the Imperials and had some connection to Grand Admiral Thrawn.
"The Path of Hate" gives us all of that vital backstory and shows...

May the 4th is here! With it comes a huge sale, including savings on Star Wars Lego sets!
Amazon has launched a page dedicated to deals on Star Wars merchandise. While it does cover nearly every item imaginable, the best savings are on those expensive Lego kits. Some have had their price tags cut by up to 40%.
The Lego sets included in the May the 4th sale are:
Luke Skywalker’s X-Wing (75301) – $34.99
Phantom II (75357) – $127.99
18″ tall Chewbacca (75371) _ $139.99
Yes, there are only three in this massive sale. I was expecting more, too. However, Amazon discounted a bunch of other stuff, from toys to T-shirts to even pet outfits.

Amazon says that these Star Wars Day deals are exclusive. It’s true; these items don’t appear to be discounted elsewhere. But if you’re looking for Vintage Collection toys, Funko Pops, and Black Series figures, you’ll have to head to Entertainment Earth.

When Jar Jar Binks appeared in Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace in 1999, many hardcore fans of the original trilogy thought that Lucas had gone nuts and that Jar Jar was an insult to the franchise created solely to be kid-friendly, i.e., to attract (new) children to the franchise as well. So what? Jar Jar Binks was definitely the odd one out, but yours truly personally liked the character as an elementary schooler and it really helped liking Star Wars even more, especially since yours truly had seen the original trilogy on television before The Phantom Menace appeared.
Still, the character has remained controversial ever since, and the actor who portrayed him, Ahmed Best, has had a rough time defending his most famous role, which he reprised in many spin-off works. Recently, Best talked to The New York Times and gave us an interesting interpretation of Jar Jar’s importance,...
