After hustling for nearly two decades to build a career as an actor and stand-up comedian, Adam Ray has recently hit on an entirely new level of exposure. The person he has to thank for it, you might be surprised to hear, is none other than Dr. Phil.
For many a performer, Ray tells Deadline, the goal is to hone one’s craft until hitting on something “that’s yours” and yours alone. This is what he’s accomplished with Dr. Phil Live!, a digital series garnering huge attention online of later, in which he plays a heightened version of the popular daytime talk show host, with the help of detailed prosthetics.

“Abba Zabba, you my only friend!” Imagine they made a Half Baked 2. That sounds like a slam dunk, right? After all, the original didn’t set the box office on fire, but it’s presumably made a mint on home video. Well, it looks like Universal finally pulled the trigger on a Half Baked 2, but of the original cast, the only person to return is Rachel True, who played the love interest, Mary Jane. Yes folks, it happened, and the sequel, Half Baked: Totally High, is going straight to Blu-ray, with an April 16th release date.
All this begs the question, why, twenty-five years later, make a Half Baked sequel without either Dave Chappelle, an infinitely bigger star now than he was in 1998, and Jim Breuer? Chappelle, I kind of get – the man is busy and would probably cost millions and millions to get, but Jim Breuer? Could...

The subgenre of "Christmas movies" has been a curious one of late. While new movies set during the holiday season or others explicitly concerning it are released every year (especially holiday horror), it feels like we haven't gotten a new classic, gotta-watch-this-every-year holiday movie in a while. That's because, in all honesty, most classics aren't made, they're grown; it takes a few years for most films to prove their durability, and some that are overlooked upon their initial release get rediscovered and slowly morph into seasonal staples.
Filmmaker Michael Dougherty is intimately familiar with this process, as it's happened to him at least twice with two movies about two different holidays. His anthology of Halloween hijinks, 2007's "Trick 'r Treat," barely got a theatrical release before word of mouth allowed it to gain a cult reputation strong enough that a sequel has been rumored for years, and may actually happen.

Every year, Christmas rolls around, and the general viewing public gets to have some holiday romances, some family holiday films, and a few comedies here and there, with some forgetting that horror still exists and is rife for the holiday season. From creepy Santas to Grim Grinches, there’s plenty to be had in the more violent side of the film industry. Over the years, creepy Christmas has been a definite thing with plenty of movies dedicated to it in the horror genre. Who can forget the original Black Christmas, the recent Violent Night, Silent Night, Christmas Evil, and so many more. A few years ago, Trick R Treat made a splash in...

For this month’s installment of “TV Terrors” we revisit the short-lived anthology horror satire “Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters,” which aired on TruTV back in 2018.
Although these days it’s known mainly as the channel on cable that plays “Impractical Jokers” all day, every day, back in 2018, Tru TV sought out to try some different programming. After successfully pulling away from their line up of reality shows, the network aimed to deliver a hefty line up of original comedy series, many of which ended up being damn good.
Among the line up introduced, there was “Bobcat Goldthwait’s Misfits & Monsters.” Comedian, actor, and director Goldthwait is no stranger to the horror genre (I loved his found footage film Willow Creek), and was the mastermind behind this delightfully unusual horror anthology series. Every week, “Misfits & Monsters” told a variety of half hour stories, all of which were a healthy mix of dark comedy,...

5 Best Christmas Horror Movies(Photo Credit –IMDb)
When one thinks of Christmas, horror, and gore are generally not the first things that come to mind. Christmas is all about having fun. It’s full of life and color, and identifying it as scary would be out of place. And while Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas” does make a perfect example of a ‘scary Christmas,’ it does not qualify as a traditional, spine-chilling horror movie. But contrary to popular narrative — certain media out there does it, and does it well. Think of the latest “Fargo” episode that runs a Halloween theme and blends it with “Nightmare Before Christmas.”
So, the appeal behind it is understandable. This is why we have curated a list of the best Christmas horror movies you can enjoy for a change of pace from all the happy and sparkly traditions.

‘Tis the season to watch holiday-themed horror, so we here at Arrow in the Head have decided to compile a list of the Best Christmas Horror Movies! All of the films below are, at the very least, set around Christmastime, and some of them take the connection to the holidays further than that. Here are the top 12 horror movies that we recommend checking out over the next week:
I Come In Peace (1990)
It’s easy to forget that I Come in Peace (a.k.a. Dark Angel) is set around the Christmas holiday, because Christmas is mostly just represented by some set decorations – and you’re distracted from those decorations by all the awesome stuff going on around them. Dolph Lundgren stars as Jack Caine, a Houston detective who doesn’t play by the rules. He’s stuck working with stuffy, suit-wearing FBI agent Larry Smith (Brian Benben), and these...

The Final Destination series is in the midst of a near 13 year break. But thankfully that should be ending next year with the sixth entry in the series. But there was another time when the franchise seemed as good as dead. After The Final Destination came out, it seemed like that was the end of any cheating of death. But thankfully Eric Heisserer came along with an script that would blow audiences away. So we’re getting into all the gymnastics mishaps, terrible bridge construction, and massages with a not so happy ending, as we look at Wtf Happened To Final Destination 5 (watch it Here).

Fans have been waiting 14 years for director Michael Dougherty to get around to making a sequel to his Halloween-themed horror anthology Trick ‘r Treat, but Dougherty has stayed busy as the years have gone by, making the Christmas-themed horror film Krampus, directing Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and contributing to the scripts for X-Men: Apocalypse, Godzilla vs. Kong, and the upcoming Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Recently, there have been indications that a Trick ‘r Treat 2 might finally be moving forward. Dougherty has even said the screenplay has been written. But while he pushes that sequel toward production, he has revealed to Collider that he has an idea for Krampus 2 as well.
Dougherty told them, “We have an idea for a sequel on that one, too. It doesn’t necessarily center around a family as much as it might be about a group of strangers who are trapped somewhere.

The new film Dotty & Soul sees a tech CEO Ethan Cox (Adam Saunders) face social media backlash after wearing a problematic Halloween costume. In an effort to ameliorate the situation, he hires snack cart vendor Dotty (Leslie Uggams) to act as the company’s figurehead while he still controls the company behind the scenes. However, when Dotty decides to no longer play along as Cox’s puppet, everything changes.
In an exclusive interview with uInterview founder Erik Meers, star David Koechner discussed his character and experience working with legendary actress and singer Uggams.
“I think you’d have to agree that [my character] Brannigan turns out to be the villain. If we think thematically, he represents greed… He’ll pretend he’s out for you if it helps him,” he said.
When describing his approach to roles he takes as a comedic actor, Koechner said, “I always think you’re the defense attorney of your character.

The movie Anchorman came out in 2004, starring Will Ferrell, Steve Carell, and Paul Rudd. Originally going to be about a news crew stranded after a plane crash, the film critiques 1970s journalism. The plot has plenty of comedy, and many lines involve improvisation.
Since improvised lines can be unexpected, it is easy for other actors to break character. As a result, Rudd can remember many hilarious moments he had while filming. He once recalled one scene where he and his co-stars struggled to get through it.

Anchorman is one of the most beloved movies of the 2000s. With its stacked cast and quotable hilarious scenes, it’s easy to forget that it wasn’t exactly a sure thing when it was released. The slow burn of the Will Ferrell-led comedy mostly played out in the then-thriving DVD market.
Without that second life, we may have forgotten the now-iconic scenes, often with actors who became even more famous later on. Paul Rudd, now starring in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, is certainly in that category. And he recently revealed that he had so much fun on the Anchorman set that one of the funniest scenes in the movie almost didn’t get filmed as intended.

The Adam McKay-directed 1970s newsman comedy got off to a poor start, the Independent reports. Critics seemed tired of Ferrell’s broad schtick as anchor Ron Burgundy.

In the far-reaching pantheon of comedy stars, few possess the same sometimes-subtle, sometimes-explosive style as Steve Carell. First glimpsed by audiences as a cast member on 1996's short-lived comedy vehicle "The Dana Carvey Show," the Massachusetts-born actor grabbed the attention of comedy fans during a six-year stint as a correspondent on "The Daily Show with John Stewart." This desk time helped him transition nicely into another news-related role: the career-hungry anchor Evan in Jim Carrey's "Bruce Almighty" in 2003 before Carell showed us how goofy he could be in 2004's cult-classic "Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy."
However, one role beats all others when combining the many talents Carell has stuffed under his belt (that's what she said). Of course, it's Michael Scott, Dunder Mifflin's cringe-king boss and America's answer to Ricky Gervais's David Brent. Throughout nine seasons of "The Office," Scott helped Carell showcase tonnes of humor and...

[Warning: The below contains Major spoilers for The Goldbergs Season 10 Episode 14 “Two-Timing Goldbergs.”] A familiar face made a special return in the latest episode of The Goldbergs as Aj Michalka‘s Lainey Lewis paid her friend Erica (Hayley Orrantia) a visit. Returning home from L.A., she meets baby Muriel for the first time, but when Erica notices her brother Barry (Troy Gentile) stopping by Lainey’s house on secret excursions, she’s suspicious. But not everything is as it appears because Lainey and Barry aren’t having secret rendezvous as Erica expects; instead, her brother is seeking sports solace at the Lewis household with Lainey’s dad, Bill (David Koechner). Despite the surprising twist, Lainey’s presence was ever-welcome as she got to catch up with Eric and the rest of the Goldbergs gang. “Every time I get the call or the email that they want to bring me back, I’m always excited,” Michalka gushes to TV Insider.

Since its release, "Krampus" has become a Christmas favorite of mine. "Rare Exports" and "A Christmas Horror Story" are often listed among the best adaptations of the Germanic legend, but I believe director Michael Doughtery's 2015 holiday horror flick has done the best job at bringing the titular mischief-maker to the screen. The story about a household being overtaken by Krampus and his adorable holiday minions introduces the centuries-old legend in a concise, hilarious, and thrilling way that only the filmmaker behind the influential "Trick 'r Treat" could have pulled off.
"Krampus" features a pretty spectacular ensemble with Emjay Anthony, Toni Collette, Conchata Ferrell, David Koechner, Adam Scott, Krista Stadler, and Alison Tolman. On top of all of that, the film nestles in quite nicely alongside "Gremlins" as a wonderful piece of holiday gateway horror. That's pretty much what the legend is, anyways.

Before director Michael Dougherty's version of "Krampus" finally made it to theaters in 2015, the idea of crafting a story around the old Austrian folktale had been circulating for years. George Romero was mulling over the possibility of at least producing a movie based on the Krampus legend at one point. In fact, this was the second time that Doughtery took on a project that Romero walked away from. The beloved horror anthology "Trick 'r Treat" was Dougherty's first film after Romero — as well as horror legends John Carpenter, Tobe Hooper, and Stan Winston — exited that project as well, which we learned on Mick Garris' "Post Mortem" podcast. This eventually led to the PG-13 version of "Krampus" which audiences eventually got to see. There is a much naughtier R-rated "Krampus" cut out there, as well.

Steve Carell has taken on plenty of memorable roles in his life, from the depressed scholar Frank in "Little Miss Sunshine" to the sexually frustrated Andy in "The 40-year old Virgin" to sweet supervillain Gru in "Despicable Me." Yet no matter how many great performances he puts in, he'll always be known first and foremost to many people as Michael Scott from "The Office." The tactless, cringe-inducing, hilarious boss of Dunder Mifflin Paper Company is the sun around which all the show's workplace chaos revolves.
"The Office" wouldn't have succeeded without Carell's faux-sly glances to camera, perfectly uncomfortable line deliveries, and contagious outbursts of laughter. Yet as with so many great roles, it almost went to someone else. In fact, lots of familiar names were considered for the role.

"I can think of a million ways to make this more fun." Creator+ has revealed an official trailer for an indie romantic comedy titled Diamond in the Rough, a perfectly cheesy name for a cheesy film. It's available for streaming now on their new Creator+ content service (first time we've even heard of it). Recent college grad Ariana Alvarez, played by Samantha Boscarino, is given a chance to turn her life around when she joins a stuffy country club complete with a hopelessly hot caddy. Drawing on her spunk, irreverence, and copious amounts of street-honed charm, Ariana battles prejudice, antiquated rules, and worst of all—mean girls—in order to shine through as a diamond in the rough. The rest of the film's cast includes Griffin M. Johnson, Caitlin Carver, Rizwan Manji, and David Koechner. This pretty much looks like Mean Girls set at a country club, nothing much else...

Despite a strong Thanksgiving weekend at the box office, last weekend suffered from a lack of new content and had the weakest box office performance since the doldrums of September. The post-Thanksgiving slump will soon come to an end, though, and the year should end on a high note with titles such as Spider-Man: No Way Home, The Matrix Resurrections, Sing 2, Nightmare Alley, and The King's Man. Next weekend will likely break pandemic-era box office records, but this weekend is looking more modest with only one major new release, Steven Spielberg’s adaptation of the Broadway and film classic West Side Story.

For as much as I love horror and the Halloween season, I am something of a softie at heart, so the Christmas season is the time of year when I really thrive. I love Christmas songs and holiday treats, and I will pretty much watch any and every movie that has some kind of a Yuletide angle to it. That being said, it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Michael Dougherty’s Krampus was a film that immediately captured my heart back when it was released in 2015, and it became one of my required viewings every December once it hit home media, ultimately becoming part of our traditional viewings to celebrate the holiday season. And I think that’s something most genre fans have done as well over the years, so I’m not sure that I have to do much to sell you on the film with this...

If recent memory serves, it’s tough to put a play onscreen without it feeling like a play onscreen. Hit films from last year like “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” and “One Night in Miami” featured stellar performances, but struggled to break out of their singular location narratives. “Tick Tick Boom” chose to embrace the artifice and shoot obvious theater sets, and basically no one can compete with the way Steven Spielberg’s camera dances in the new “West Side Story.” While the dramatic conflict is ripe in “National Champions,” a timely sports drama based on the play by Adam Mervis, the movie fails to rise above its weighty premise. Still, with complex characters and fantastic performances, “National Champions” offers a vital take on a developing issue.
