It's impossible to overstate the popularity of "It Chapter One" and "It Chapter Two," or how Bill Skarsgård's turn as the horrifying Pennywise the Clown has become the definitive portrayal for multiple generations. Based on the terrifying novel by Stephen King, "It" and Skarsgård's ability to move his eyes independently is most certainly responsible for increased levels of coulrophobia around the globe. The otherworldly creature known as It comes in many forms, but Pennywise the Clown is undoubtedly his most famous. Since arriving in the town of Derry, Maine, It has been devouring the citizens for hundreds of years, resting for 27 years between feeding cycles.

Deadline reports that Bill Skarsgård is set to reprise his role of Pennywise the clown for the upcoming It prequel series Welcome to Derry (which may end up only being a working title).
In addition to starring in the It prequel series, Bill Skarsgård will also executive produce. When asked last year, the actor said he wasn’t involved in the series, so I think fans are relieved that he will be lending his bloodthirsty giggle to the proceedings after all. Skarsgård’s take on Pennywise was instantly iconic in my eyes, so it was hard to imagine the series either skipping the character altogether or recasting. I’m excited to see him come back.
Andy Muschietti, who directed the two It movies, developed the series alongside producers Barbara Muschietti, Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, David Coatsworth, Shelley Meals, Roy Lee, and Dan Lin. The story comes from Andy Muschietti,...

He will be reprising the title role as It/Pennywise from the hit 2017 New Line movie It and its sequel, It Chapter Two.
On the Warner Bros. Television-produced series, Skarsgård is reuniting with other key auspices from the It film franchise, the two movies’ director Andy Muschietti, producer Barbara Muschietti and Chapter Two co-producer Jason Fuchs, who developed together the TV adaptation of the Stephen King horror classic, as well as the films’ other producers, Roy Lee and Dan Lin. The revival of Warrior at Max turned out to be short-lived: The Warner Bros. Discovery streamer has canceled the show after its first season as a Max original and third overall.
That said, the series — based on writings by Bruce Lee and set in 19th century San Francisco — will potentially get in front of more viewers beginning in February 2024 as all three seasons will stream on Netflix. Warrior will continue to be available on Max as well, similar to other non-exclusive streaming licensing deals Wbd has made with Netflix for HBO shows like Six Feet Under, Band of Brothers and Ballers.
Warrior began life as a Cinemax original series, premiering in 2019 to strong reviews. It was renewed for a second season that aired in fall 2020 — but by that time, Cinemax had wound down its originals business. The streamer then known as HBO Max revived it for a third season in...

Max’s “Warrior,” a breakthrough series boasting one of the few Asian ensembles on television, has been canceled after three seasons. The series’ repeats will live on, however, via a off-net deal with Netflix, which has acquired the series’ run in a non-exclusive deal and could now potentially expose it to a new audience. (The show will also continue to be available on Max.)
“Warrior” returned for its third season in June after a two-year hiatus. The show originally ran on linear cabler Cinemax (starting in 2019), and was revived after a fan base campaign. Andrew Koji, Olivia Cheng, Jason Tobin, Dianne Doan, Kieran Bew, Dean Jagger, Tom Weston-Jones, Hoon Lee, Perry Yung, Langley Kirkwood, Miranda Raison, Chen Tang, Chelsea Muirhead, Mark Dacascos and Joe Taslim star.
Shannon Lee is among the executive producers on “Warrior,” which was based on a concept by her father, Bruce Lee. Per the logline, “‘Warrior...

Warrior won’t be returning for a fourth season on Max.
However, the existing three seasons of the martial arts crime drama are set to find additional audiences as Netflix has picked up the series’ library in a co-exclusive deal with Max in Warner Bros. Discovery streamer’s markets.
Warrior is expected to debut on Netflix in February 2024. If it does well, Netflix could presumably order a new season of the drama based on an original concept and treatment by Bruce Lee, sources tell Deadline exclusively.
This latest move sets Warrior in its third home in as many years. The series premiered in 2019 on Cinemax where it ran for two seasons before it was announced in early 2020 that the network was moving out of the Originals business. Wbd sibling Max picked up the show for a third season in Spring of 2021 which premiered this summer with the season concluding on...

The Max series Welcome to Derry, which will serve as a prequel to Warner Bros’ two-part adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel It (pick up a copy Here), went into production in Port Hope, Ontario earlier this year, aiming for a Halloween 2024 premiere. But, of course, the show’s progress has been slowed by the lengthy writers strike, which recently ended, and the ongoing actors strike. So the premiere is being pushed back a bit. Casey Bloys, Chairman and CEO, HBO and Max Content, has said that we probably won’t see Welcome to Derry until 2025.
Deadline reports that Bloys said, “We had had [Welcome To Derry] scheduled for Halloween ’24 but it will likely be pushing into ’25.“

Filming kicked off this month on the HBO Max series “Welcome to Derry,” an official prequel to the two Stephen King-based It movies from Andy Muschietti. Taking to Instagram over the weekend, Muschietti shared a first-look behind the scenes photo from the set.
The photo, which you’ll find below, shows us the office door of Derry’s Chief of Police Clint Bowers, a new member of the Bowers family we’ll be meeting in “Welcome to Derry.”
Henry Bowers was of course the leader of the Bowers Gang that tormented the Losers’ Club in Stephen King’s classic horror story, and we’ve also met Butch Bowers (Henry’s father) and Connor Bowers (Henry’s cousin) in Muschietti’s movie adaptations. Butch Bowers was a cop, so it makes sense that another family member was the Chief of Police some years prior.
But who exactly is Clint Bowers?...

We assume that Pennywise the Dancing Clown is going to show up on the HBO Max series Welcome to Derry, which will serve as a prequel to Warner Bros’ two-part adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel It (pick up a copy Here), at some point. We’re just not sure who would be playing Pennywise, as just a week ago Bill Skarsgard, who played the evil clown in those two movies, said he isn’t involved with the show. As we wait to hear the Pennywise details, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed the names of four actors who will be seen in the show: they are Taylour Paige (Zola), Jovan Adepo (Watchmen), Chris Chalk (Perry Mason), and James Remar (Dexter).
Details on the roles Paige, Adepo, Chalk, and Remar will be playing are being kept under wraps. So for all we know, Pennywise could be lurking in their midst.

Last month, it was announced that HBO Max has officially given a greenlight to the Welcome to Derry series, which will serve as a prequel to Warner Bros’ two-part adaptation of the classic Stephen King novel It (pick up a copy Here). This series was first announced in March of last year, then in June it was confirmed that the writers room had opened its doors. In November, Brad Caleb Kane (Tokyo Vice) and Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman), who was a co-producer on It: Chapter Two, were hired to serve as the showrunners. Now that it’s moving toward production, fans have been wondering: is Bill Skarsgard on board to reprise the role of Pennywise? And the answer is… no. Not yet, anyway. Skarsgard is not currently involved with Welcome to Derry.

Coming soon from HBO Max, the series “Welcome to Derry” will serve as a prequel to the two Stephen King movies from Andy Muschietti, but will Bill Skarsgård be returning?
Bill Skarsgård of course played the iconic killer clown in Muschietti’s two movies, but he reveals in a new chat with Jake’s Takes that at this moment he’s *not* involved in the series.
“We’ll see what they come up with and what they do with it. I’m not currently involved in it,” Skarsgård explains to the show. “If someone else gets to [play Pennywise], my advice is to make it your own. Have fun with it. What I thought was so pleasurable about that character was how incredibly abstract he was. The book is really a gift that way.”
You can watch the full interview with Skarsgård in the video below.

Word arrived last year that Warner Bros. was looking to keep theIT terror train rolling by developing a prequel TV series called Welcome To Derry, which had the movies' director Andy Muschietti involved. Things have moved on apace, and allied cable channel HBO has made the series order official.
The series will – as the "prequel" bit suggests — follow events before 2017's It, which along with its sequel, It: Chapter 2 adapted Stephen King's novel, featuring terrifying creature Pennywise who haunts the kids of Derry, Maine.
Muschietti will kick off the series directing multiple episodes while sister Barbara will produce. Jason Fuchs has written the initial script (based on an idea he developed with the Muschiettis) and is on to act as co-showrunner alongside Brad Caleb Kane.

We're returning to the town of Derry for more creepy clown shenanigans. HBO Max has officially ordered "Welcome to Derry" the series, with the show set in the same universe as Andy Muschietti's "It" movies, serving as a direct spin-off. It was previously revealed that the show was in development but now, the brass at Warner Bros. Discovery have officially pulled the trigger and given the series the green light.
The series hails from Warner Bros. Television, with Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti developing the series alongside Jason Fuchs. What's more, Muschietti will direct multiple episodes of the series, including the first one. Given how well he handled Stephen King's material in adapting it for the big screen, his being on board is absolutely a good sign. Few plot details have been revealed as of yet, but a press release confirms that it will indeed be a prequel to the films.

Set in the world of Stephen King’s “It” universe, “Welcome to Derry” hails from Warner Bros. Television. The drama series is based on King’s “It” novel and expands the vision established by Muschietti in the feature films “It” and “It Chapter Two.”
“As teenagers, we took turns reading chapters of Stephen King’s ‘It’ until the thick paperback fell to pieces,” Andy and Barbara Muschietti said in a statement. “‘It’ is an epic story that contains multitudes, far beyond what we could explore in our ‘It’ movies. We...

The streamer has given a straight-to-series order for a drama based on Stephen King’s beloved horror novel It.
Filmmakers Andy Muschietti and Barbara Muschietti (who made the successful big-screen adaptations It and It Chapter Two) and Jason Fuchs (It Chapter Two) are on board the project from Warner Bros. Apex predators do not leave fruitful feeding grounds. The creature known as "It" preyed on the people of Derry, Maine and the nearby Native American population for generations. Why would It go anywhere else? Those humans are a steady source of nourishment — at least until the Losers Club, a group of bullied and marginalized kids, fights back to end It's cycle of terror. In Andy Muschietti's "It" duology, they take a stand against evil, but they probably weren't the only ones. It's likely that previous generations boosted the Losers Club's chances to succeed long before its members knew what they were up against.
As far as we can tell, HBO Max's "It" prequel series "Welcome to Derry," will show us what happened in the '60s, two generations before It's reign of terror ended. Most likely, we'll see how others fought to end It's cycle of terror, and...

Last week, we learned that Brad Caleb Kane (Tokyo Vice) and Jason Fuchs (Wonder Woman), who was a co-producer on It: Chapter Two, have been hired to serve as the showrunners on the HBO Max streaming series called Welcome to Derry, which will serve as a prequel to the adaptations of Stephen King’s It that were directed by Andy Muschietti. Now Variety has asked HBO Max’s head of originals Sarah Aubrey for an update on the status of the show – and her answer included the words “demented”, “scares”, and “terrify”.
Here’s what Aubrey had to say: “We have been working with Jason Fuchs, Brad Caleb Kane, Andy Muschietti and (his producing partner / sister) Barbara Muschietti very closely…They’re so deep into this mythology and they have such a firm handle on the storytelling around these characters and also the demented scares that they’re putting into things.
