Free streaming platforms like LG Channels seemingly add new channels all the time. There are more than 1,500 free ad-supported TV (Fast) channels available in the United States alone, and the amount of time consumers spent watching these channels increased in April, despite it normally being a period where TV watching decreases across the industry.
One thing Fast platforms don’t normally offer, however, are a lot of is live sports. But users of the free streaming service LG Channels will see that change this month, as the service is adding several live events to the schedule on the NCAA Championships Channel (channel 100), including tennis, lacrosse, and track and field events from both the NCAA’s Division II and Division III.
The live sporting events coming to the NCAA Championships Channel starting May 17 include:
Date Time (Et) Event Wednesday, May 17 12 noon Diii Women’s Team Tennis Finals Sunday, May 21 2 p.m.

Jeff Dickerson, an NFL reporter for ESPN who covered the Chicago Bears for two decades, died Tuesday of complications from colon cancer, at the same hospice facility that his wife, Caitlin, died in two years ago, the network reported. He was 44.
“Jd was one of the most positive people you will ever meet,” ESPN deputy editor for digital NFL coverage Heather Burns said in a statement. “We all got together in October for an event, and there he was lifting our spirits and assuring us he was going to beat cancer. That’s just who he was. We are holding Jeff’s family, and especially his son, Parker, in our prayers.”
The network noted that in his coverage of the Bears, Dickerson “reported the facts but was not afraid to tell his listeners and readers what he thought about” the team, and “confronted team management when necessary, but never made a show of it.

Two decades ago, Heather Burns declared April 25th the perfect date. "Because it's not too hot, not too cold," her adorably perky character said in the 2000 movie Miss Congeniality. "All you need is a light jacket." And while temperatures fluctuate, fans' infatuation with the film stays the same. "I love it. It seems to each year get a little bigger even," Burns, 46, exclusively tells E! News about the viral reaction to the unofficial holiday. "And it's such a nice day for me because people come out of the woodwork sending me memes and things. And I go around town…people give me free coffee and, you know, it's just everyone's...

After years of making a name for himself in New York theater, Mark Ruffalo was on the cusp of breaking in to high-profile movie roles when television came calling.
In 1999, Tom Fontana and Barry Levinson had been handed a 13-episode order from Upn for a cop drama “The Beat.” Fontana and casting director Alexa Fogel had been impressed by Ruffalo’s work on stage and recruited him to co-star in the series as the hotheaded ladies-man New York City beat cop Zane Marinelli.
Fontana and Levinson’s track record with NBC’s indelible “Homicide: Life on the Street” and HBO’s arresting “Oz” lent credibility to “The Beat.” The show promised to be envelope-pushing, if only because nobody was watching Upn anyway. The pilot was directed by Levinson. Ruffalo had more than a few shirtless scenes in the early episodes.
“Tom had seen me in plays and was a fan.

It's been almost two decades since William Shatner and Heather Burns made April 25 the most "perfect date" of the year. That's right! Miss Congeniality first hit theaters in 2000, and Shatner and Burns won viewers over with their portrayals as pageant host Stan Fields and Miss Rhode Island Cheryl Fraiser. One of their most memorable scenes from the movie was when Fields asked Fraiser to describe her perfect date. "That's a tough one," the contestant replied. "I'd have to say April 25 because it's not too hot, not too cold. All you need is a light jacket." Fans haven't forgotten about the scene and neither has Shatner. The 87-year-old actor took to...

Long before Tom Cruise fended off extraterrestrial tripod fighting machines in 2005's War of the Worlds, there was Orson Welles' original radio drama, which was broadcast in 1938 and caused the world to falsely believe there was an impending alien invasion.

Welcome to Lullaby, NJ, population 506, the fictional town at the center of Jody Lambert’s delightful comedy Brave New Jersey “where strangers are friends and no one is a stranger.” Home of the Rotolactor, a robotic milking machine, the central New Jersey town is only a few hours from Grover’s Mills, the “epicenter” of the great October 1938 martian invasion chronicled in Orson Welles’ legendary War of the Worlds broadcast. Depicting this evening of misconstrued alien invasion, Lambert’s comedy is far more modest affair than the Tom Cruise film as Lullaby comes together for the biggest night in its history.

Grief is a terrible animal, red of claw and tooth, and once it gets hold of you, there is no way of knowing what it will do to you. Over the last year, I've watched a dear friend of mine struggle with back to back losses of two of the most important people in her life, and at times, I've genuinely worried that it would be too much for her to take. This is a strong, vibrant person, and grief landed on her in a way that very nearly crushed all of that joy and vitality right out of her. I've had my own bouts with profound sorrow over the last year as a result of the end of my marriage, and while I feel like I've reached the other side of all of that, I remain shaken by just how damaged I was by things. For the first time in my adult life,...

What happens when you tell a pastor that God talks to you? He's very impressed, apparently.
In The Huffington Post's exclusive clip above from the second episode of NBC's "Save Me" (two-episode premiere on Thurs., May 23 at 8 p.m. Et), Beth Harper (Anne Heche) opens up to the pastor at her church about a very ... interesting talent she's developed after having a near-death run-in with a sandwich.
"Pastor Jim? I have an espresso maker I'd like to donate to the church if you can use it somehow," she says, before adding, "God talks me."
"Lucky you!" he exclaims.
Here's how NBC describes the first two episodes of "Save Me":
"The Book Of Beth" (Pilot)
"Save Me" premieres with Emmy nominee Anne Heche starring as Beth Harper, an absentee wife and mother who suffers a dramatic near-death experience and is revived only to discover that she now receives messages from God.

"Super-serve your niche."
Those were the magic words that reeled Ed Burns back to his Irish-American roots with his latest indie film, "The Fitzgerald Family Christmas." Wearing all three hats as writer, director and actor, Burns presents a holiday story of a divided dysfunctional family. In other words, a story all his viewers can relate to in some way, shape or form.
The story follows Gerry (Burns), who's caught in the middle of his family's drama when his dad (Ed Lauder) begs him to convince his siblings and mom to invite him to Christmas dinner. Unfortunately for his dad, Gerry's mom vowed years ago to never let him step foot into her house. Some of his siblings aren't too stoked about sharing the joys of the holiday with the father that walked out on them either.

Like any good Irish-Catholic family, the Fitzgerald clan features a lot of siblings. The eldest of seven children, Gerry (Edward Burns) adopted the role of patriarch when their father (Ed Lauter) walked out on them over twenty years ago. Fortysomething, single and childless, Gerry still resides with their mother (Anita Gillette), while the other siblings each have their own individual dramas to contend with -- individual being the operative word, as none of the siblings show much desire to share their personal problems with each other, unless forced. At the onset of writer-director Edward Burns' The Fitzgerald Family Christmas, Gerry is attempting to convince his siblings to celebrate their mother's 70th birthday together. Gerry has an ulterior motive for the gathering; he wants the family to vote on whether their long-estranged father should be allowed to spend Christmas Day with them. Unfortunately, their mother's birthday is only a couple days before Christmas,...

Written and directed by, and starring the great Ed Burns, The Fitzgerald Family Christmas looks to be a solid drama worth heading out into the cold for this holiday season.
Arriving on VoD later this month, and released in Us theatres early next, the film sees Burns reuniting him with Connie Britton, who’s starred in a handful of Burns’ earlier films, and now EW have released a new poster for the film.
“With The Fitzgerald Family Christmas, Burns returns to the working-class, Irish-American roots of The Brothers McMullen. Reuniting with McMullen co-stars Connie Britton (Friday Night Lights), and Mike McGlone, along with Noah Emmerich (Little Children, Beautiful Girls) and Kerry Bishe (Newlyweds, Red State), Burns seamlessly weaves an ensemble story of adult siblings dealing with the desire of their estranged father (Ed Lauter, The Artist, The Longest Yard) to return home for Christmas for the first time since he...

Edward Burns' 11th film as a writer-director, "The Fitzgerald Family Christmas," is also a reunion for the Long Island native. For the first time in 16 years, Burns and actor Michael McGlone share the screen, playing combative brothers just as they did in Burns' first two efforts, "The Brothers McMullen" and "She's The One."
Available via on demand services starting on Nov. 21 -- and due in theaters on Dec. 7 -- "The Fitzgerald Family Christmas" focuses on an Irish-American family on Long Island, dealing with the return of its estranged patriarch during the holiday season. Burns and McGlone star opposite an array of character actors -- Kerry Bishe, Heather Burns, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Marsha Dietlein, Noah Emmerich, Brian James D'Arcy, Daniella Pineda, Ed Lauter -- as well as Connie Britton (the "Nashville" star has worked with Burns twice previously, in "The Brothers McMullen" and "Looking for Kitty"). Burns has called the film his "most personal work.

"The Fitzgerald Family Christmas" is a homecoming of sorts Edward Burns: The new film reunites the writer/director/star with Michael McGlone and Connie Britton, both of whom starred in "The Brothers McMullen," Burns' breakout 1995 indie.
Starring that aforementioned trio -- Burns also worked with McGlone on "She's the One" and the short film "Doggy Bags"; Britton appeared in "No Looking Back" and "Looking for Kitty" -- as well as a cadre of recognizable character actors (Kerry Bishe, Heather Burns, Caitlin Fitzgerald, Marsha Dietlein, Noah Emmerich, Brian James D'Arcy, Daniella Pineda, Ed Lauter), "The Fitzgerald Family Christmas" is a spiritual cousin to "The Brothers McMullen." The film takes place on Long Island and focuses on an Irish-American family -- in this case, the Fitzgeralds -- dealing with some internal strife around the holiday season. Burns has called the film his "most personal work."

If you’ve never seen Jonathan Ames’s recently cancelled HBO show Bored to Death, you might want to brush up on the premium cable mystery/comedy show, for costar Ted Danson recently suggested in an interview with French journalist Pierre Lenglas (according to Lenglas’s Twitter account) that a feature-length Bored to Death movie might be in the works. To be fair, nothing official has been announced and, according to Vulture, HBO qualified Danson’s statement my stating that the creators and talent of the show are only in the early stages of conversation. But with Jason Schwartzman and Zack Galifianakis rounding out the show’s cast, a Bored to Death movie might make quite a bit of sense. Bored to Death ran for three seasons from 2009-2011, and chronicled the misadventures of Jonathan Ames (Schwartzman), a struggling writer who becomes an amateur detective in order to get over being dumped by his girlfriend Suzanne (Olivia Thirlby...

NBC has released a bunch of trailers and clips for a new collection of TV series that they have been developing. We've got stuff from 1600 Penn, Infamous, Save Me, Next Caller, Do No Harm, The New Normal, Guys With Kids, and Go On. It will be interesting to what shows make it and what shows end up on the chopping block. Check out the trailers and clips and let us know which ones look good to you!
1600 Penn:
“1600 Penn” — The Gilchrists are just the average American family dealing with all the everyday issues – like a grown kid who’s forced to move back home, children who are smarter than their teachers and a stepmom (Jenna Elfman, “Dharma and Greg”) desperately trying to win over the kids. They’re loving, fun and a little crazy. In other words, just like everybody else. With one exception: they live in a very special house.

In advance of their official Upfronts presentation on Monday, NBC jumped the gun to be the first network to unveil their complete 2012-2013 schedule on Sunday.
The biggest story? "Community" is moving to Fridays, along with sophomore sitcom "Whitney," which will kick off that rather random new night of programming.
"Smash" is also being bumped -- all the way to midseason -- to make way for the premiere of "Revolution," a new thriller from J.J. Abrams and Eric Kripke, which will air after "The Voice" on Mondays. And yes, that means "The Voice" will be back in the fall, giving it two cycles a year, as predicted.
NBC will also try their hand at airing comedies on Tuesday nights, with Matthew Perry's "Go On" and Ryan Murphy's "Th New Normal" getting paired together.
