Le divorce (2003)
Xenophobic, Pro-Yankee and Stereotyped piece of crap
If there is a movie about stereotyped "gringos" out of "America" this is it.
It is loaded with xenophobia and Glenn Close does a great job again portraying an obnoxious "Yankee-loving" "American" woman stranded in a foreign country longing to return.
Actors are good but the plot is poor.
THIS IS NOT A COMEDY but a tragedy, not funny and not recommended as an export film in times when the world is turning into a "gringos not welcomed" place.
It is not possible for us to relate to any of the characters portrayed in this movie.
Please stay away from this piece of crap.
The Matrix Revolutions (2003)
Big disappointment
Couldn't be better than the usual Nintendo fighting and punching video game. Hoped for something more unexpected, more dialog, too much action scenes for my taste. The visuals are good, but a good movie is not based solely on good visuals.
Abre los ojos (1997)
Your life might be just a simulation.
Sci-fi film disguised as a psycho-style plays with your mind on events after a car accident of a handsome and wealthy character. Much of "Fight Club" meets "The Matrix" with an ending that leaves it pretty much open for your mind's pleasure. Alejandro Amenábar gets away with a very interesting story-telling, but I enjoyed his earlier work in "Tesis" much more, but still "Abre los Ojos" is a delightful movie. A must see.
Lucía y el sexo (2001)
This is a beautiful poetic film about love, sex and forgiveness
The earlier film by Julio Médem (Lovers of the Arctic Circle) is a prelude to the kind of cinematography that this Spanish film director/writer presents here. I have read most of the other comments, but they don't do justice to it, mainly because of the lack of understanding the original tongue of this film. The screenplay is excellent, full of metaphors and a rich use of very carefully chosen words. People who consider this film just an excuse for depicting sex scenes as the highlight of the movie are pretty much clueless. It is more than that, it is the complex storytelling that tangles the characters in this movie and the way that is told. Compelling and breath-taking. A must see.
