One Special Night (1999)
James Garner in his best role since "My Fellow Americans"
James Garner and Julie Andrews reunite for this very special TV-Movie. They play two people stranded in a snow storm who through the night learn about each other and grow a meaningful friendship. James Garner is excellent, while Julie Andrews delivers a knockout performance. A great CBS movie, watch it if you get the chance.
Tuesdays with Morrie (1999)
The Best TV-Movie Of 1999
Jack Lemmon plays one of the most convincing and the most wonderful character of his career, while Hank Azaria portrays his best yet. The secret to this movie is the casting and writing and how well they work together. "Tuesdays with Morrie" was aired the first Sunday of December in 1999 on ABC, where they couldn't have gotten a better start. Jack Lemmon should do more TV, while Hank Azaria should show more of himself than his voice (referring to the many voices he's done on "The Simpson's." It's a great movie and get my vote as one of the (or the) best TV Movie of 1999.
For Love of the Game (1999)
The Best Picture Of 1999
I just came home watching this movie and I was littlerally in tears. I could not speak and for a minute could not hear. I watched this movie think that it was going to be good but it was the best. I have never a crowd of people give a standing ovation in the middle of the movie or so many people have real tears running down there cheeks. This movie was about a man and a dream, one that he would give anything for, just if it would come true. The performances by all the actors, not just Costner's, was astounding. This movie will not win as many awards, if any, but it sure deserved it. It touched a way a movie never has and I will buy it the first chance I get when it comes out. I encourage to see this and write about, if to anyone, myself. Go experience this emotional trail, if nothing more than to see Costner and more importantly watch it for his performance and For Love of the Game.
Trading Mom (1994)
Not As Disapointing as it looks
It might seem a dull movie, and well kind of is. Anna Chulumsky is great however in the movie as well as the two actors that play her brother. Its not in every Blockbuster in town, but if you get a chance to rent a movie, look for this one (just make sure youre doing something while watching it, it won't seem as boring.)
Scattering Dad (1998)
Andy Griffith is the best
Though not in the whole film, Andy Griffith again plays his role best in this CBS tv-movie. The plot is easy-Griffith's character dies and his last wish is that his wife and kids scatter his ashes is the place he named (Mountains Somewhere). Though it will never be seen on TV and never be released on video, if you do get the chance to watch this--TAKE IT.
Step by Step (1991)
WHY DID IT END????
Even though Mrs. Gama has somewhat of the idea, This show is what parents are looking for where the only problem is a pimple or somewhat eats the cake while every one is away, and this show did that and I liked it myself speaking as someone of the younger generation. Christine Lakin was a knockout and I will watch anything with her. More than that though, this show is a perfect family show and should have never ended. This is an example of the rare bad judgment CBS displays. Bring the show back PLEASE!!!!
Coach (1989)
Under-Rated Classic
Of all of the shows (Comedies) I have seen, Coach is the the most under-rated and one of the best I have seen. You have one hell of a comedic (and dramatic) actor Craig T. Nelson and when you put together him with a cast that includes Jerry Van Dyke you have success. It's a shame I got into this show after its initial run, but thank God for repeats or I would have missed the greatness this show has to offer. A+ ALL THE WAY
Cosby (1996)
Bill Cosby Does it Again
I enjoy this show most of all all because of the great humor and the actors. Bill Cosby, Phyllicia Rashad, Jurnee Smollett and T'Keyah 'Crystal' Keymáh are just so wonderfully used. Doug E. Doug add such humor to the show and play a great straight-man to Bill Cosby. CBS has a jewel in Cosby and I am glad to see Bill still working in what he is most good at. (But still does not compare to the greatness of the Cosby Show, which they should have never ended) .
Matlock (1986)
GREAT SHOW!!!!
This show is one of the best shows that ever aired on national television. Andy Griffith is superb and Clearence Gilyard also did a wonderful job. With great casting, guest stars (such as Milton Berle) this show is somewhat of a treasure. It was on for almost a decade and I wish it was on now. I hope another movie will air so I get to see my favorite actor, Andy Griffith in my favorite charecter, Ben Matlock. (Watch it on TBS and WGN both airing at noon, it will be worth it).
Nash Bridges (1996)
A+ TV
This show pairs together Don Johnson and Cheech Marin in one of the best shows CBS has to offer. The CBS show, which co-stars James Gammon and Yasmine Bleeth, is an example of a drama series with comedy to make it more watchful than (On the same time slot on NBC) Homocide. As Johnson's character drives in his '71 cuda, with partner Joe worrying about his daugher Cassidy, Father Nick, and, newest member to the cast, the beautiful Yasimine Bleeth as Catlin Cross, It proves that there is still good tv on and Johnson, also, is doing quite ok.
12 Angry Men (1997)
Powerful! Best Movie from HBO!
The performances by the 12 men were extraordinary! The relationship and tension between the men were Powerful! The movie was just plain one of the best drama's of the 1990's. Jack Lemmon, Ossie Davis, Tony Danza and George C Scott gave performance that all should when an award. With an exceptional cast and off-the-chair performances, this movie is a must see and a must have in any video collection
To Serve and Protect (1999)
Great Mini-Series
The dramatic Craig T. Nelson makes another wonderful dramatic lead character. This Mini-Series is one of the best I have ever seen. Nelson proves he can do comedy with "Coach" and Drama with "To Serve and Protect". Outstanding support characters and wonderful writing makes it a not-to-miss mini-series.
My Fellow Americans (1996)
Possibly The Best Movie Ever Made!
This movie starring Jack Lemmon, James Garner and Lauren Bacall is funny and entertaining. Lemmon's gift of comedy is best displayed in this movie, with Garner playing in possibly his best comedic role of his career. This is an outstanding movie all the way!
