David Lynch’s New Project Is An Album And Music Video With ‘Twin Peaks: The Return’ Star Chrystabell
Enigmatic filmmaker David Lynch has reteamed with his longtime collaborator Chrystabell for a new album titled Cellophane Memories.
The album will be released on August 2 via Sacred Bones. Lynch has also directed a video for the album’s lead single Sublime Eternal Love, which you can watch above.
Lynch said today that the origins of the project came from a vision he experienced during a nighttime walk through a forest. Chrystabell said the album contains “many doors that are left open to wonder, wander and get turned around in.”
“It’s like mood music,” she said, “not that it creates mood, but more that it reflects your own.”
Cellophane Memories will mark Lynch’s first public project since Twin Peaks: The Return, which wrapped in 2017 on Showtime. The filmmaker teased a new project on Memorial Day, posting a video to X where he said: “Ladies and gentlemen, something is coming along…...

Jenna Ortega gained worldwide recognition for her role as Wednesday Addams in the hit Netflix series. Wednesday, executively produced and partially directed by goth legend Tim Burton, acted as a significant career boost for the 21-year-old actress.
For her work in numerous horror projects, Jenna Ortega has been crowned as a prominent “screen queen” in the industry. Despite giving loads of effort to perfectly play Wednesday, Ortega claimed that she would have never gotten the role if two major elements had not appealed to Tim Burton.

While she’s been part of the global movie and TV show landscape for years now, it’s only after Netflix’s Wednesday that Jenna Ortega rose to such a prominent position. The overwhelming success of The Addams Family spin-off launched its lead actress into global stardom, and now Ortega can pick from countless offers, not tied by nearly as many role limitations as before.
Unfortunately, this also means she’s dropping out of her previous projects.
Ortega Leaves Her Latest Hit Netflix Show
In case you’ve grown all tense and nervous, you can relax: the Wednesday star isn’t dropping her breakthrough series. She’s now even producing it after all! But following Ortega’s exit from the Scream franchise, she now also quit Jurassic World: Chaos Theory, Netflix’s animated series that conquered hearts and minds earlier this year.

It’s been five years since Tim Burton’s last movie hit cinemas – his live-action take on Disney’s Dumbo. In the intervening years, the director had moved away from feature films, instead entering the streaming game with his massive Netflix hit series Wednesday, imagining the Addams Family’s daughter solving spooky mysteries at a supernatural high school. But now, Burton is officially back on the big screen with Beetlejuice Beetlejuice – a long-awaited sequel to his 1988 classic comedy, reuniting the director with Michael Keaton’s garrulous ghoul and Winona Ryder’s outsider Lydia Deetz. While sequels can be eyed with skepticism from audiences, make no mistake: this is deeply personal territory for cinema’s greatest goth auteur.
“I actually had sort of lost interest in the movie industry,” Burton tells Empire in the world-exclusive Beetlejuice Beetlejuice issue. “I felt like I’d had enough with studios,” he admits, “I’d...

A killer spider terrorises a New York apartment building in a tonally messy horror with some great creature effects. Our review of Sting:
Odd name for a killer spider movie, Sting. For that we can thank Tolkien-loving 12 year-old Charlotte (Alyla Browne) who chooses it as the nickname for the arachnid she finds scuttling around her dimly-lit New York apartment building. Sweeping the critter into a jar and intent on keeping it as a pet, Charlotte is blissfully unaware that Sting is capable of escaping from its glass prison and, as it dines on other living things roaming around the building, will soon grow to a frightening size.
Written and directed by Australian filmmaker Kiah Roache-Turner, Sting is an eclectic mash-up of styles and influences. Its snowbound apartment setting, every floor filled with eccentrics, immediately recalls Jean-Pierre Jeunet and Marc Caro’s Delicatessen. Roache-Turner seems to relish in the little...

David Lynch hasn’t directed a feature film since Inland Empire in 2006, but he has directed many shorts since then, as well as all 18 episodes of Twin Peaks: The Return. Last month, we heard that he’s hoping to make an animated film called Snootworld, which was rejected by the Netflix streaming service… but while we wait to find out whether or not Snootworld is going to find a home, Lynch has taken to social media to tease that something is coming from him in June. On June 5th, to be exact.
In a video posted to X, Lynch said, “Ladies and gentlemen, something is coming along for you to see and hear. And it will be coming along on June 5.“

Lynch didn’t provide any hints as to what this something may be. A short film? A music video?...

Lynch did not indicate what he was talking about, but earlier this year, he told Deadline that he hoped to find backers for an animated project.
Lynch began working on the script for Snootworld two decades ago with former Tim Burton collaborator Caroline Thompson, who wrote projects including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Edward Scissorhands, and the 1991 film The Addams Family.

The first Charles Addams' strip that might be considered a part of the Addams Family canon was published in the pages of the New Yorker on August 6, 1938. In it, a vacuum cleaner salesman stands just inside a large, creepy, obviously haunted mansion, addressing the denizens, a cadaverous vampire woman and a brutish bearded man. The salesman, unperturbed by his grim surroundings offers his sales pitch, declares that no well-appointed home should be without such an appliance.

Finally, after what is starting to feel like forever, ‘Wednesday’ season 2 has officially started filming. But two of our beloved characters won’t be back, and no I don’t mean those who we watched die in the first season. Here’s all we know.
The Addams Family – Will Enroll In Nevermore Academy Ahead of Season 2
‘Wednesday’ season 2 may be a long time coming, but it’s coming big and bigger than anyone could ever expect.
Apart from Thandiwe Newton and Steve Buscemi becoming series regulars (Thandiwe will play Dr. Fairburn and Buscemi will play Barry Dort), the series has managed to add a host of interesting guest stars, and some of them, one way or another, have connections to different variations of ‘Addams Family’ over the years.

Back in 2022, the eight-episode feature following the mysterious adventures of Wednesday Addams in Nevermore Academy became Netflix’s most-watched original series ever, beating even the most hyped seasons of Stranger Things and Bridgerton.
Filming of the follow-up has just started in Ireland, and we can finally have a closer look at the second season’s cast changes. Luckily, Wednesday’s main star, the new scream queen Jenna Ortega, will reprise her already iconic role, despite her dropping out of another Netflix’s project, the animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory.
Wednesday Regulars: Who Returns in Season 2?
Firstly, we’ll have some characters elevated to the status of the show’s regulars. These include Catherine Zeta-Jones as Wednesday’s mother, Morticia, Luis Guzmán as Gomez Addams, the father of the family, Isaac Ordonez as their son Pugsley, and also Luyanda Unati Lewis-Nyawo as Ritchie Santiago, the deputy of the local police department.

After the runaway success of Netflix and Tim Burton’s Addams Family stand-alone series Wednesday starring Jenna Ortega, the streamer renewed it for second season in January 2023. That decision came less than three months after the eight-episode Season 1 premiered, eventually becoming the most-watched original series ever on the streamer ever with more than 252 million views to date, far surpassing Stranger Things‘ Season 4, Dahmer and Season 1 of Bridgerton on the all-time list.
Season 1 ending up scoring 12 Emmy nominations, including for Ortega in Lead Actress in a Comedy Series, becoming just the third Latina to ever be nominated in a leading actress category. The series won four Emmys, though Ortega lost out to Abbott Elementary‘s Quinta Brunson on Emmy night.

Cue "Goo Goo Muck" by The Cramps -- because it's time for "Wednesday" fans to get their groove back on. The second season of Netflix's immensely popular "Addams Family" spinoff series is now officially in production in Ireland after being postponed due to last year's extremely necessary dual actors and writers' strikes. Jenna Ortega will once again lead the way as the titular character, who is still her usual unsmiling and morbid self here. Well, except that, in a twist that left a lot of longtime "Addams Family" enthusiasts confused, season 1 transformed Wednesday into a cross between a Veronica Mars-style teen sleuth and a superhero, complete with heretofore unknown psychic powers.
While our own review wasn't keen on season 1, "Wednesday" broke out in a major way with the youths, not least of all thanks to characters like Wednesday's bubbly werewolf roommate -- and, should all the "Wenclair" shippers get their way,...

After Wednesday comes Thursday unless you are a runaway streaming sensation, in which case “Wednesday” Season 2 has just kicked off.
The show, based on the legendary Chas. Addams characters and run for Netflix by Al Gough and Mike Millar-run show (with a creative assist from producer and director Tim Burton), is now shooting in Ireland and there have been some changes in the cast.
New to the Jenna Ortega-led ensemble are the Emmy and Golden Globe-winning Steve Buscemi (now given second billing on the show), Olivier-winning British actress Billie Piper, Evie Templeton, Owen Painter, and Australian Noah Taylor. It’s unknown who the new characters are other than their names; Buscemi’s “Barry Dort” does not appear in previous “Addams Family” lore, so it’s anyone’s guess.

Netflix’s breakout hit Wednesday has started production on its second season and has added a dozen actors to its cast.
Filming has begun in Ireland — a change from the first season, which was primarily shot in Romania — on comedy fantasy, which stars Jenna Ortega as the sleuthing Wednesday Addams as she attends Nevermore Academy.
The production has added as series regulars Steve Buscemi (The Big Lebowski), Billie Piper (Scoop), Evie Templeton (Return to Silent Hill), Owen Painter (Tiny Beautiful Things) and Noah Taylor (Law & Order: Organized Crime).
The series has also lined up a series of familiar names for guest star roles: Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future), Joanna Lumley (Fool Me Once), Thandiwe Newton (Westworld), Frances O’Connor (The Missing), Haley Joel Osment (The Kominsky Method), Heather Matarazzo (The Princess Diaries) and Joonas Suotamo. Lloyd also played Uncle Fester in the 1991 Addams Family film.

Netflix on Tuesday morning unveiled the series regular and guest cast for the upcoming second season of its hit Addams Family spinoff series Wednesday, headlined by Jenna Ortega.
As the announcement suggests — and Deadline has confirmed with sources — three Season 1 series regulars whose characters were alive and well in the finale — Percy Hynes White, Jamie McShane and Naomi J Ogawa — will not be returning in that capacity next season.
Of the three, only McShane is slated to reprise his Sheriff Donovan Galpin role as a guest star, likely to wrap the story of his character who was left devastated in the Season 1 finale by the discovery that his son Tyler (Hunter Doohan) was the Hyde after the sheriff shot and temporarily incapacitated the monster.

Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) has been put through the wringer. She’s been stalked by a bloodthirsty monster. Her Rave’N gown was ruined by red paint. (The normies couldn’t even spring for real blood?) And she’s had to brave the scariest threat of all: other teens. But things are looking up for Nevermore Academy’s most popular goth. WednesdaySeason 2 has officially entered production — and several new cast members are coming along for the ghoulish ride. Expect to see Emmy-winner Steve Buscemi alongside a former Addams Family movie star and many more as Wednesday returns to Nevermore Academy.
“Our goal this season was to discover some fresh faces as well as invite some acting legends we’ve always admired to join Jenna and the gang at Nevermore,” Wednesday co-showrunners Miles Millar and Al Gough exclusively tell Tudum. “When we survey the talent we’ve assembled we could not be more thrilled.

I think of director Barry Sonnenfeld's "The Addams Family" and "Addams Family Values" the same way I think of director Tim Burton's "Batman" and "Batman Returns." In each case, the first movie operates as more of a test run for what the filmmakers can do with the property they're adapting, whereas the sequels allow them to really let their darkly off-kilter creative sensibilities run wild.
To be sure, 1993's "Addams Family Values" is the zanier of Sonnenfeld's takes on the "Addams Family" franchise, which originated with Charles Addams' original comic panels for The New Yorker dating back to the '30s. While its predecessor has a fairly basic plot, "Values" pits the eponymous clan against a dastardly black widow -- played to camp perfection by Joan Cusack -- who's out to marry and then murder wealthy Uncle Fester (Christopher Lloyd). It's also the film that fully embraces the...

Jenna Ortega is heading into production on season 2 of the Addams Family-inspired Netflix series Wednesday and has a prominent role in the long-awaited sequel Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, but she’s no longer a part of two other franchises. After starring in Scream (2022) and Scream VI, she reportedly asked for a substantial pay raise to return for Scream 7, despite knowing that request wouldn’t go over well with the producers at Spyglass Media – and sure enough, Spyglass opted not to bring her back for Scream 7. Now the full trailer for the upcoming Netflix animated series Jurassic World: Chaos Theory – which serves as a follow-up to the animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous – reveals that Ortega’s Camp Cretaceous character Brooklynn has been killed off! You can watch the trailer in the embed above.

My favorite comic strips are the ones where the characters' physicality has no basis in reality. Think of Calvin's untenable head-to-body-size ratio in "Calvin and Hobbes" or how every living creature in "The Far Side" is built like a pillow with sticks for arms and legs. The funny pages, like animation, have no real limits when it comes to the physics of their worlds, so why should their inhabitants be any different?
Charles Addams, in particular, wholly embraced this idea and ran with it while drawing his off-kilter, satirical "Addams Family" comic panels for The New Yorker from the 1930s up until his death in the '80s. The titular clan of ghoulish aristocrats embodied everything that stereotypical white American families did not in the 20th century, which manifested itself in their appearances. The Addamses had preternaturally oblong or round faces and builds. Most notably, the stocky, pale-white Uncle Fester...

In 2022, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media revived the Scream franchise with a new entry (the fifth) that was a box office hit, earning almost $139 million at the global box office. Fourteen months later, Scream VI came along – and became an even bigger hit, pulling in almost $169 million at the global box office, a number that was up there with the series’ heyday, when the first Scream and Scream 2 made just over $170 million. (Scream 3 also made over $160 million – only Scream 4 failed to crack $100 million.) So, of course, the companies are moving full steam ahead with Scream 7. While the movie seemed, initially, to be on the fast-track to success, the track it’s on has turned out to be a shockingly bumpy ride.

Even though hardcore Addams Family fans had very low expectations before the show's release, Netflix's Wednesday turned out to be a quality show, being a hilarious horror comedy with enough satire, drama and, needless to say, the supernatural.

Wednesday is completely different from its predecessors, because instead of the traditional story about an eccentric old-money family living in an antebellum mansion and hiding a lot of paranormal secrets, we got a school drama starring goth Jenna Ortega.
But none of this changes the fact that Wednesday turned out to be a great black comedy with enough satire, drama and, of course, the supernatural. After all, the co-executive producer is none other than Tim Burton.
As a result, the show has received rave reviews, high ratings and wins in four Primetime Emmy Award categories. So it's no surprise that Netflix decided to renew it for a second season, which we learned about in January 2023.
A year later, the series is approaching the active production phase, and with that, more and more details are emerging. For example, we recently received word that the new addition to Season 2 will be the legendary Steve Buscemi.

It's not easy to get people to agree about stuff, but I think we can all agree that Steve Buscemi is one of the greats. Buscemi has been kicking around for years, appearing in big movies, small movies, TV shows, and more. He's a wonderful character actor who always heightens whatever material he happens to be attached to. Even if his part is small, you come away remembering what he did. Hell, he shows up as a waiter dressed like Buddy Holly in "Pulp Fiction" for about less than one minute and still steals that moment. He's that good. Whenever Steve Buscemi appears on screen, we all do the Leo point and proclaim, "Hey, 'it's Steve Buscemi!"
And now, he's joining the cast of "Wednesday" season 2. The "Addams Family"-adjacent show stars Jenna Ortega as everyone's favorite miserable young woman, Wednesday Addams. The series, which had episodes helmed by none other than Tim Burton,...

Charles Addams' very first Addams Family comic strip -- or at least a proto-version of the Family -- appeared in the pages of the New Yorker in 1938. In the strip, a vampire-like woman stands next to a large, bearded, brutish man at the foot of a staircase in a haunted mansion. Bats fly overhead and spider webs adorn the light fixtures. A creepy third member of the family peers down through a railing high above. Standing at the door is an eager, white-suited vacuum cleaner salesman attempting to hawk his wares. "Vibrationless, noiseless, and a great time and back saver. No well-appointed home should be without it," the salesman says. He is unperturbed to be in a haunted house, and presses on with his sales pitch, even though the manse has clearly never been swept.
Charles Addams would revisit these creepy characters regularly, eventually settling on a core cast of characters.

Barry Sonnenfeld's 1991 film "The Addams Family," based on the New Yorker comic strips by Chas Addams and extrapolated from the 1964 sitcom of the same name, was a pop culture clarion call for aspiring young goths the world over. The Addams Family were a gaggle of murderous weirds who lived in a haunted mansion, kept a severed human hand as a pet, and regularly engaged in cute family games wherein they exhumed long-dead relatives. They loved blood, sex, and magic. It's possible they were immortal; the young Wednesday (Christina Ricci) regularly murdered her brother Pugsley (Jimmy Workman). Morticia (Anjelica Huston) and Gomez (Raul Julia) were sexually active to an enviable degree, perhaps standing as one of the healthiest, most sex-positive couples in movies at the time. They were full of zest and joie de vivre. Only they were obsessed with death, so perhaps the term should be joie de mourir.

In one of Charles Addams' original Addams Family comic strips for the New Yorker, we see Gomez, the family patriarch, perched by a large window in his sepulchral home, looking out the window. His children and wife are standing near him. Outside the window, an apocalyptic storm is raging. A tree has been stripped of its leaves and a home across the street appears to be blowing over. "Just the kind of day that makes you feel good to be alive!" Gomez comments.
Barry Sonnenfeld's 1991 film version of "The Addams Family" captures that outsider spirit. This iteration of the Addams Family values the gloom that most people eschew, presenting Gomez (Raul Julia) and Morticia (Anjelica Houston) as horny, enthused monsters who you kind of fall in love with.
The plot of the movie is somewhat plain: a scheming a-hole finds someone who looks exactly like the long-lost Fester Addams...

So, it turns out Jenna Ortega’s close call with quitting acting because of her soccer passion wasn’t common knowledge among her Scream 6 buddies. In a previous How Well They Know Each Other game, co-stars Jasmin Savoy Brown, Melissa Barrera, and Mason Gooding couldn’t quite guess why she almost left acting.

Before Winona Ryder was known for "Stranger Things," she was known for being "strange and unusual." At least, that's how her character in 1988's "Beetlejuice" put it. The actor would become a goth icon following her role in Tim Burton's 1988 effort, "Beetlejuice," with appearances in "Heathers" (1989), and "Edward Scissorhands" (1990) further cementing her alt-girl status. But there's no doubt "Beetlejuice" was where it all began.
The actor starred as Lydia Deetz, the teenage daughter of Charles and Delia, who move into a new house in Winter River, Connecticut, only to find it haunted by the ghost with the most himself, Beetlejuice (Michael Keaton). In the movie, Keaton's rambunctious supernatural miscreant was hired to spook the Deetz family by the former owners of the house, Barbara and Adam Maitland (Geena Davis and Alex Baldwin), who suddenly found themselves in the afterlife following a car accident. Lydia, meanwhile, becomes somewhat of...
