Less than a year after The Prank Panel debuted on ABC, star Johnny Knoxville is getting a shock that some jokes are just not so funny.
Not funny, and potentially quite expensive, to be clear.
The Jackass vet (real name Philip John Clap), ABC Signature Studios, ITV America, Jimmy Kimmel’s Kimmelot shingle and others involved with the unscripted comedy series Prank Panel have been zapped with a $3 million negligence and battery lawsuit (read it here) from self-described “segment producer and creative consultant” Daniel Curry.
Seeking a jury trial, Dumb Ideas co-author Curry’s May 16 filing from Martorell Law in LA Superior Court lays out the taser attack the ex-segment producer says he was subjected to back in September 2022 on the Prank Panel set at Saticoy Studios in Van Nuys, CA. In a post on social media, Wilson called out the Borat actor as the “a**hole” she wrote about in her book.

BAFTA threw up plenty of surprises and snobs in their nominations lineups this year with Best Actress one of the most intriguing and head-scratching categories of the year. “Killers of the Flower Moon” star Lily Gladstone was snubbed while Annette Bening (“Nyad”) also didn’t make the cut. Both of those performers were nominated at the Oscars, however.
Instead, the BAFTA nominees for Best Actress are Fantasia Barrino (“The Color Purple”), Sandra Hüller (“Anatomy of a Fall”), Carey Mulligan (“Maestro”), Margot Robbie (“Barbie”), Emma Stone (“Poor Things”), and Vivian Oparah (“Rye Lane”). Stone is the obvious frontrunner and the thespian at the top of our BAFTA odds chart for this category but one name in that list sticks out as a potential challenger: Oparah.
The British actress had a breakout year in 2023 with her role in Searchlight Pictures/Disney’s charming”Rye Lane,” which follows Oparah (Yas) and David Jonsson...

Angelica Ross is accusing Ryan Murphy of ghosting her over an “American Horror Story” season idea.
Ross, who appeared in Seasons 9 and 10 of the anthology series as well as Murphy’s “Pose,” tweeted emails allegedly sent by Murphy that suggested the executive producer was interested in an all-Black season of “AHS.”

Murphy lists Keke Palmer and Gabourey Sidibe as potential co-stars and asks Ross to suggest another name to round out the foursome. Ross suggested Debbi Morgan and Angela Bassett, along with Halle Berry, Kerry Washington, and more actresses to co-star.

In ABC‘s new unscripted series, The Prank Panel, Johnny Knoxville, Eric André, and Gabourey Sidibe are the ones guiding the pranks. But what happens when they’re on the other side of it? In TV Insider’s exclusive featurette ahead of the show’s July 9 premiere, the three “pranxperts,” as they’re called, are asked what makes a good prankster. “A good prankster has to have a distinct point of view,” André offers, while Sidibe notes that “commitment” is “very, very, very important.” For Knoxville, “a good reaction” is key, even if you “think of the most creative mark.” Adds André, “they have to somehow not make the prank feel mean. … That’s the needle to thread: you want to prank with love.” Unsurprisingly, there were pranks on the set among the pranxperts. Lisa Rinna is best known for playing the characters of Billie Reed on Days of Our Lives and Taylor McBride on Melrose Place… or at least she was, until she was featured on eight seasons of the reality series The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. That may be what most viewers recognize her from these days. But Rinna recently left that Real Housewives show, and now Deadline reports that she has signed on to appear in an episode of the Hulu horror anthology series American Horror Stories.
The episode Rinna will be in is titled Tapeworm, and most of the filming of that episode was already completed before Deadline confirmed her involvement. That’s the only information that’s available at this time.

Ryan Murphy’s spinoff “American Horror Stories” is coming back for Season 3, and Deadline reports this week that Lisa Rinna (“Real Housewives”) will appear in the new season.

The site also notes, “Rinna has concluded most of the filming and is back in LA.”
The spinoff anthology features hour-long contained episodes, and it’s exclusively available through FX on Hulu. The new series mostly tells original stories unconnected to the main “AHS” series, though Season 1 was book-ended by a “Murder House” continuation. The show delves into horror myths, legends and lore, with many episodes featuring “AHS” stars.
“American Horror Stories” is created by Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk. The series premiered on July 15, 2021, and thus far 15 total episodes have aired across two seasons.

It’s appropriate that Netflix dropped the sixth season of “Black Mirror” on June 15, the same day that Emmy voting began. The series isn’t eligible for this year’s awards, of course, but it has been a dominant force at the Emmys for years, even sparking a rule change that affects a number of other anthology programs this year.
And because of that rule change, it’s going to be a lot harder for any of those other programs — which include “Documentary Now!” and “Guillermo del Toro’s Cabinet of Curiosities” — to be nominated for Emmys this year.
First, a little background. “Black Mirror,” created by Charlie Brooker and first airing in 2011, was inspired by the classic 1950s and ’60s series “The Twlight Zone,” in which Rod Serling used each episode to tell a different story — usually creepy or scary, usually with a twist, always with a moral. Back then,...

This year’s first-round Primetime Emmy nominations ballot includes a total of 51 Best Limited Series hopefuls. This is down from 2022’s unusually high total of 61, yet still much higher than 2021’s 37, 2020’s 41, and 2019’s 35.
All 20,000 plus voting members of the TV academy have until June 26 to cast their 2023 Emmy Awards nominations ballots for programs. Unlike the Oscars, voters for the Emmys do not rank their choices and nominees are determined by a simple tally. After six years of not having to limit their choices in any categories, members’ selections can now not be greater than the number of eventual nominations for a given award, which, in this case, will be five.
Unlike comedy and drama series, which simply appear on the ballot by name, the limited series submissions include plot descriptions and cast lists. Which of the shows listed below do you think will land in the final lineup on...

Disney Branded Television and Disney Europe, Middle East and Africa (Emea) looks set to reveal a slew of new titles at France’s Annecy Animation Festival.
Apart from “Disney Junior’s Ariel,” a new series inspired by “The Little Mermaid,” pre-school adventure series “Magicampers” has also been greenlit.
Set at a day camp for magical creatures – its protagonists, Darly and Loomis, are half-pig and half-Pegasus, and half-donkey and half-unicorn – and created by Obie Scott Wade, it’s set to premiere globally on Disney+ and Disney Junior next year.
“We instantly fell in love with this ensemble of unique hybrid characters, who each combine something magical and something ordinary within themselves,” said Orion Ross, vice president of animation for The Walt Disney Company Emea.

Comedian Eric Andre is returning to Adult Swim for a sixth season of his absurdist talk show “The Eric Andre Show,” and he says his reasoning is partially financial. In an interview with the Associated Press, published Saturday, Andre said he would’ve called it quits earlier had his 2021 film “Bad Trip” been at all lucrative for him.
“I was going to end [‘The Eric Andre Show’] after five seasons and then I didn’t make any money on ‘Bad Trip,’” Andre said.
The film, which André co-wrote, produced and starred in, was never released in theaters due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The hidden camera comedy went through distribution issues before eventually being released on Netflix in 2021. In a recent interview with Howard Stern, André said the film took nearly a decade to make, but he only made around $17,000 from it.
Despite its delayed release, the film was at one point the No.

Beware! If you mess with the wrong person in an attempt to get them in a “gotcha!” moment, they might enlist Johnny Knoxville, Eric Andre and Gabourey Sidibe to get you right back! That is the trio’s mission in their new ABC show, “The Prank Panel.” And no one is safe – not even the cast themselves.
The concept of the show is simple: people come before the panel and pitch a prank they’d like them to pull on someone close to them who first pulled a prank on them. In other words, big time retribution. The panel then chooses one and does all the very elaborate dirty work.
After Jimmy Kimmel, the show’s producer, pulled the group together, Andre set his sight on pranking Sidibe. But he was messing with the wrong person.
“You tried to get me with the bugs that, but the bugs had no effect on you.

It must be a daunting task to try to prank pop music’s reigning troll, but Eric Andre sure gave it his best shot. Lil Nas X had quite the visit at The Eric Andre Show, as you can see from a sneak-peek clip of the upcoming Season 6 premiere episode (via Rolling Stone).
Complete with a saucy new hairdo and decór reminiscent of an ’80s porno set, Andre welcomed Lil Nas X with a roar of audience applause and a jingle from the in-house band. The pair hardly had a moment to chat before a strange, screaming presence began bulging out of Andre’s desk like it was the haunted TV screen in Videodrome.
The host eventually got things back on track — that is, until some unidentified substance began misting from his microphone and made him very, very sleepy. A prankster himself, Lil Nas X surely knew what he was getting himself into,...

A few years back, Cannes was rocked by “flat-gate” — the uproar over the requirement that all women wear heels at Palais premieres. While many criticized the rule as outdated, others simply opted to ignore it due to the aches and pains of rushing up and down the Croisette in a pair of sky-high stilettos.
A not-so-new tool is becoming the new go-to for designers and stylists: Flexpower Soothe Lotion.
While everyone from Olympians to pro teams in the NBA and NFL have been relying on the anti-inflammatory blend of arnica, echinacea and eucalyptus for years, Flexpower Soothe gained traction during the recent New York Fashion Week when designers Sergio Hudson and Kevan Hall instructed their teams to apply it to models’ legs and feet ahead of the runway.

Realm, the largest scripted podcast network, today announced the upcoming release of America 2.0, a scripted audio drama starring Patrick J Adams (“Suits”) as an idealistic first term congressman, launching May 2.
Entangled in his first ever controversy, Seth McGuire (Adams) finds himself ill-equipped to navigate D.C.’s treachery. His only hope comes from a big idea to give every American citizen one million dollars.
Inspired by the optimistic storytelling in Mr. Smith Goes to Washington and The West Wing, co-creators J S Mayank and David Carlyle wanted to put out a message of hope. “Politics is supposed to be aspirational, and yet it’s become anything but. Our cast and crew wanted to bring back high-minded, civil discourse—all while making politics entertaining again,” said Mayank.
In addition to Adams, the podcast features an extensive cast of Hollywood stars, including Emmy Award-winning and Oscar nominated actor Laurence Fishburne, Shanola Hampton...

It is part of American lore on race and progress: In the 1940s, Kenneth and Mamie Clark set out to study the psychological effects of segregation on Black children. The psychologists conducted a series of experiments famously called the “doll test,” in which they asked hundreds of children, between the ages of 3 and 7, about dolls of different colors. The most well-known and damning revelations from the test — which played a major role in the Supreme Court ruling on Brown v. Board of Education — came from the responses to the question of preference. After identifying the Black dolls as bad and the white ones as good, most of the Black children said they preferred the white dolls to the Black ones.
