- Wife Majel Barrett claims many unproduced television and movie ideas by Roddenberry exist in note form. The programmes Andromeda (2000) and Earth: Final Conflict (1997) came from some of these notes.
- Comic-book series: After his death, story notes were adapted into the comic book series "Gene Roddenberry's Lost Universe."
- (1966) Wrote never-used lyrics for the original Star Trek (1966) television theme.
- (1970s) Spoken-Word Album: "Inside Star Trek" featuring convention appearances and interviews by Roddenberry of actors and actual characters from the series Star Trek (1966). Reissued on CD with additional material in the 1990s.
- Unpublished "Star Trek" novel, "The God Thing", based upon a treatment for an unproduced 1970s television revival of Star Trek (1966). Attempts have been made over the last two decades to finish this novel and publish it, most recently in 2003, but as of September 2003 no publication date has been determined. At one point, Walter Koenig was working on the project.

- (1959) Unsold pilot: Wrote / produced a pilot for a police drama set in the Greenwich Village section of New York City called "Night Stick".
- (1962) Unsold pilot: Created / wrote the pilot for a legal drama for CBS called "Defiance County".
- (1962) Unsold pilot: Wrote the teleplay for an adventure series for CBS set in the South Pacific in World War II called "APO 923". It starred Ralph Taeger, James Stacey and Pat Harrington Jr..
- (1966) Unsold pilot: Produced a pilot for a proposed western series called "The Long Hunt of April Savage", which starred Robert Lansing as a vigilante seeking the killers who murdered his family.

- (1958-60) Radio: Staff writer for the western series "Have Gun, Will Travel".
