- The Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) is a national organization of professional performers working in the English-language recorded media in Canada.
- ACTRA represents the interests of 21,000 members across Canada. (as of 2003)
- The John Drainie Award is nowadays given at the Banff Television Festival.
- The trophy has been designed by renowned Canadian medallist Dora de Pédery-Hunt.
