Firefly: Objects in Space (2002)
Jubal: That's somewhat unsettling.
In Objects in Space, Serenity encounters a ruthlessly professional bounty hunter, Jubal Early, who will stop at nothing to retrieve River. But River, feeling unwelcome on the ship, takes a novel approach to escaping from the Alliance.
A good final episode, not a great one. Have some problems with it; like if River is all those things they're discussing, then it's in their best interest not to even discuss it and keep things as is. You've got Jubal who could simply just hurt Simon until River gives him whatever he wants, since she's choosing to engage with him. Also don't like Mal having to get a line in before pushing Jubal Early into space, because there's a time and place.
AFL Sunday: Round 13 - Essendon vs Carlton (2024)
Ess vs Carl, at the MCG.
Redman out for Essendon, Goldstein and Setterfield in. Slippery conditions, the McKay's having never faced each other. A good setup by Langford, but the shot missed and McGovern kicks the opener for the Blues from a 50-metre penalty and then McKay the next from a free. Curnow goals from 50, Carlton up 16 at quarter-time. Umpires having way too much involvement... The Bombers getting nothing clean, while the Blues getting direct entries, but Stringer goals from the angle. The Blues winning the aerial battle too, extending the margin to 32 at the half. Essendon better in the 3rd, but don't capitalize, Carlton up 15 at 3-quarter time. De Koning running it straight out of the middle too frequently and Kelly poor. The Blues kick further away in the 4th, home by 26 points. The Bombers dominated the hit-outs, Carlton +6 in the clearances, Essendon with more of the footy via the handball, with 21 more tackles applied. The Bombers with 19 more inside 50's, for equal scoring shots, Carlton though significantly better conversion. De Koning best afield, with 24 disposals, 2 contested marks, 19 hit-outs, 11 clearances, 7 inside 50's and 471 metres gained. Elijah Hollands 19 disposals, 16 effective, an assist and 3 straight goals. Curnow 2 contested marks, 3 assists and 2 goals. Saad 20 disposals and 6 intercepts. For Essendon, Durham 21 disposals, 18 effective, 6 tackles, 489 metres gained and a goal.
3. (Car) T. De Koning. 2. (Car) E. Hollands, 1. (Car) C. Curnow.
AFL Sunday: Round 13 - Sydney vs Geelong (2024)
Syd vs Geel, at the SCG.
McCartin back in for Sydney. Miers kicks the opener for the Cats and Bowes quickly follows. Then Hawkins takes a good mark and slots it on the angle and Stengle dribbles a quality goal through on the boundary, Geelong on song. Stengle slots another, the Swans goalless at quarter-time, up 30. Amartey eventually gets Sydney on the board from 50, more than halfway through the 2nd. Warner goals from outside 50 and then Heeney with back to back goals. The Swans crazily cutting the deficit to just 5 at the half, in a high-level game. Stengle opens the 3rd with his third. Papley goals from 50 and Sydney hits the lead, before Papley again goals from 50, the Swans up 11 at 3-quarter time. Sydney continues on in the 4th, with Jordon converting from 50 and then Papley again. The Swans get it done again, with Warner kicking the sealer. Sydney won the hit-outs and were +13 in the clearances, with a lot more of the footy. The Swans with 7 more inside 50's, for 8 more scoring shots. Gulden best afield, with 37 disposals, 5 clearances, 7 inside 50's, 5 tackles, 733 metres gained, 3 assists and a goal. Papley 15 disposals, an assist and 4 goals. Heeney 26 disposals, 2 contested marks, 5 clearances, 5 tackles and 2 goals. Warner 26 disposals, 8 inside 50's, 653 metres gained, an assist and 2 goals. For Geelong, Stengle an assist and 3 goals.
3. (Syd) E. Gulden, 2. (Syd) T. Papley, 1. (Syd) I. Heeney.
Saturday Afternoon AFL: Round 13 - St Kilda vs Gold Coast (2024)
Stk vs Gcs, at Marvel Stadium.
Gold Coast still without Witts in the ruck. Higgins kicks the opener for the Saints. Butler takes a dive and gets a downfield shot on goal right in front. Ben King slots it from 50 to get the Suns on the board, St Kilda up 11 at quarter-time. Ben clearly the much better kick of the two King's, leading the Coleman Medal race, Max slots a nice goals though. Gold Coast goals just before the halftime siren, cutting the deficit to 14 in a low-scoring affair. The Saints maintain the margin throughout most of the 3rd, up 8 at 3-quarter time. Uwland a good contested mark going back, then a goal-saving smother. The Suns hit the lead with a Miller goal. It's another big downfield holding call though, gifting Max King a goal to put the Saints ahead late and they hold on. The second big downfield call of the day in the final stages to decide the outcome and every game with controversial decisions at the end. If you think about it, the Saints kicked just 7 goals and 2 of them came from absurd downfield shots right in front. Gold Coast handily won the hit-outs, the Saints +10 in the clearances, the Suns with more of the footy. St Kilda with 11 more inside 50's, for 5 more scoring shots, Gold Coast better conversion. Sinclair best afield, with 31 disposals, 9 intercepts and 703 metres gained. Wanganeen-Milera 28 disposals, 10 intercepts, 546 metres gained and an assist. Marshall 19 disposals, 2 contested marks, 24 hit-outs, 7 clearances and 5 intercepts. For the Suns, Uwland 23 disposals, all effective, 5 tackles and 8 intercepts. Flanders 42 disposals, 7 intercepts and 516 metres gained. Collins 18 disposals, 16 effective, 6 tackles and 8 intercepts.
3. (Stk) J. Sinclair, 2. (Gcs) B. Uwland, 1. (Gcs) S. Flanders.
Saturday Afternoon AFL: Round 13 - West Coast vs North Melbourne (2024)
Wce vs Nth, at Optus Stadium.
Waterman in for West Coast, with Reid and Kelly out. An opportunity for North Melbourne to get their first win. A hard watch early, think they should just call it a day and go home, with both teams goalless. Darling gets a ruck free right in front to kick the first goal just before quarter-time, the Eagles up 9. West Coast's next goal comes from a 50-metre penalty that no one knows why... The Kangaroos hit the lead late in the 2nd and up 8 at the half. Waterman not looking like Wayne Carey thus far. Stephenson so lax, throws away a run in goal. Larkey though with class, doesn't waste the opportunity and then gets another. Larkey adds one more from the boundary with a quality kick and then another, North up 27 at 3-quarter time. Simpkin goals from 50, the Eagles respond and Waterman lifts and even puts West Coast ahead. An incorrect holding the ball decision called against Yeo and Simpkin puts the Kangaroos back ahead and then Curtis kicks the sealer. North gets their first win of the season. West Coast handily won the hit-outs, North dominated the clearances +18, with much more of the footy and still applied 87 tackles. The Eagles with 15 more inside 50's, for 5 more scoring shots, the Kangaroos with much better conversion. Larkey best afield, with 15 disposals, all effective and 5 straight goals. Sheezel 30 disposals, 5 tackles, a goal and 4 assists. Wardlaw 21 disposals, 15 contested, 10 clearances and 7 tackles. Simpkin 28 disposals, 5 clearances, 7 inside 50's, 7 tackles, 491 metres gained and 2 goals. For West Coast, Yeo 23 disposals, 16 contested, 8 clearances, 13 tackles and a goal.
3. (Nth) N. Larkey, 2. (Wce) E. Yeo, 1. (Nth) H. Sheezel.
Saturday Afternoon AFL: Round 13 - Hawthorn vs GWS (2024)
Haw vs Gws, at UTAS Stadium.
Coniglio out for the out of form Giants, with Brown returning, verse the in form Hawks. Still it's surprising the Giants aren't clear favourites, given they're a proven road team. O'Halloran kicks the opener from congestion for the Giants. Moore's set-shots woeful after kicking a bag last week. Hogan goals on the quarter-time siren, to give the Giants a 4-point lead in a low-scoring term. Cadman with a couple of goals in the 2nd and the Giants kick away, with Daniels slotting it from 50, up 19 at the half. Young Dear marking well overhead and the Hawthorn respond, taking a 3-point lead into 3-quarter time. O'Halloran slots his third and fourth from ground-ball situations, much needed for the Giants. Weddle having some success in the ruck matchup with Reeves subbed out. All these Hawks players throw their head back every time they're about to be tackled and the umpire rewards them. Riccardi marks and puts the Giants ahead by 1 late. A ridiculous downfield free-kick's given though and a shot given to sharpshooter Breust who wasn't involved in the play and it's game over... the Hawks win. These downfield free-kicks for touching someone as they kick is garbage in the first place, but Sicily kicked it out on the full, which means the other team has the footy, how can you downfield to there. Surely it goes back to where he kicked it from at a minimum and with the rules for standing on the mark and such with a small-forward, these kicks are automatic, so the umpire essentially handed Hawthorn the game. It's not the result, it's just bad for the game for it to be decided by stupid decisions like this. Just don't blow your bloody whistle for something minor in the deciding moments of a game. The Giants dominated the hit-outs and were +6 in the clearances, with more of the footy via handball. The Hawks had 3 more inside 50's, for 5 more scoring shots. O'Halloran best afield in the losing side, with 15 disposals, 6 tackles, an assist and a career-high 4 straight goals. Briggs 21 disposals, 38 hit-outs, 11 clearances, 5 inside 50's and an assist. For Hawthorn, Day 26 disposals, 10 tackles and 5 intercepts. Sicily 22 disposals, 5 inside 50's, 8 intercepts and 569 metres gained.
3. (Gws) X. O'Halloran, 2. (Haw) W. Day, 1. (Haw) J. Sicily.
Firefly: Heart of Gold (2003)
No heart here.
In Heart of Gold, a Companion-trained friend of Inara's who runs a brothel on a remote planet calls upon the help of Serenity.
This episode's not fun and it's filler, I neither understand its purpose or the conclusion. Inara's friend asks for her help, that friend betrays her with Mal and is killed, defeating the point of said help, then Inara tells Mal she's leaving Serenity at the end and gives no reason for it. All the other characters have no role in the episode other than just being in the shootout and they don't have much dialogue either, which is unlike all the others episodes. So, yeah.
NBA on ESPN: NBA Finals - Game 1 - Mavericks vs Celtics (2024)
Finals - G1 - Mavs @ Celtics, Jun 6 2024.
Porzingis returns coming off the bench. White with back to back early 3's and Porzingis impacting defensively in the paint and making his shot in the mid-post, the Celtics go up double-digits. They go nuts to end the term, with Porzingis blocking everything and consecutive 3's going down, Boston up 17. Brown goes through the entire Mavs team for a slam. Porzingis just can't miss and Dallas has no answer. Brown strips Luka in the backcourt and gets the transition hoop. Doncic with the step-back 3 to end the half, cutting the deficit to 21. Dallas continues to cut into the lead in the 3rd and Doncic with consecutive 3's. They reduce the margin from 29 to 8, before the Celtics settle. Brown on both ends, kicks the lead back out to 20 going into the 4th. The Celtics hold Dallas at bay in the last, to claim the opening game. Boston shot much better from the field and 3. Both teams took care of the ball, but Dallas with just 9 assists for the game and the Celtics +4 on the boards. Porzingis with 20 points, 6 boards and 3 blocks, in 20 minutes of action. Brown 22 points, 6 boards, 3 steals and 3 blocks. Holiday 12 points, 5 assists and 8 boards, with no turnovers. For Dallas, Doncic 30 points, 10 boards and 2 steals, but just 1 assist and 4 turnovers.
3. (Bos) K. Porzingis, 2. (Bos) J. Brown, 1. (Dal) L. Doncic.
Friday Night Football: Round 13 - W-Bulldogs vs Brisbane (2024)
Wb vs Bris, at Marvel Stadium.
Liberatore returns for the Dogs, with Darcy out. Treloar gets the opener for the Dogs with a fortunate bounce. Dale with a poor kick-out, has Dunkley kick the reply back over his head. The Lions poor going inside 50 and Bontempelli goals on the angle up the other end. Daniher replies from the angle, Brisbane up 3 at quarter-time. McNeil misses a needed easy set-shot for the Dogs and the Lions kick away. Bontempelli can't get into the game, getting plenty of attention, O'Donnell though goals on the angle. Neale literally goals on the halftime siren, to give the Lions a 33-point lead. Hipwood with a good mark and runs in for his fifth. The Dogs lift, O'Donnell marks and slots it. Rayner settles for Brisbane on the angle and the Lions kick it back out to 32 going into 3-quarter time and home comfortably by 43 points. The Lions won the hit-outs and dominated the clearances +18, with more of the footy. Brisbane with 19 more inside 50's, for 9 more scoring shots and had good conversion. Hipwood best afield, with 20 disposals, 4 contested marks, 7 inside 50's, 484 metres gained and 6 goals. Neale 38 disposals, 10 clearances and 2 goals. Andrews 15 disposals, 3 contested marks and 9 intercepts. For the Dogs, Liberatore 23 disposals, 7 clearances, 7 inside 50's, 5 tackles, 452 metres gained and 2 assists.
3. (Bris) E. Hipwood, 2. (Bris) L. Neale, 1. (Wb) T. Liberatore.
Firefly: The Message (2003)
A bad message.
In The Message, a dying request from an old army buddy turns treacherous for Mal, Zoe and the rest of the crew.
I dislike this episode for many reasons. Even before he pulls a gun on them, I have a real distaste for this person, bringing his troubles upon those he knew a long time ago. They shared an experience together and have a lifelong bond, but it's such an a-hole move. Mal tells Wash to make the call with this guy having a gun on him, like make the call your bloody self. So he shoots at Zoe's husband and they still go and take him home... I don't get it, like you shot him for good reason. Also why doesn't the lieutenant just destroy the ship when they get back anyway, just because.
Friday Night Football: Thursday Night Football - Round 13: Adelaide vs Richmond (2024)
Adel vs Rich, at Adelaide Oval.
Both teams decimated by injury and struggling. Adelaide omitting O'Brien for some reason and Richmond resting Dusty. The Tigers with some quality ins though; Bolton, Taranto and Prestia. Cumberland kicks the opener for Richmond from a soft free and the Tigers kick away early. Rachele gets the Crows on the board, Richmond up 6 at quarter-time, with Borlase missing an easy set-shot after the siren. Strachan marks and goals in the 2nd, Adelaide up 1 at the half. Cumberland kicks his third in the 3rd, Bolton misses another easy set-shot that would've put Richmond well ahead, Baker doesn't miss though. Schoenberg kicks a needed goal from 50 for the Crows, the Tigers up 22 going into 3-quarter time. Adelaide with two quick goals to start the 4th, Campbell stops the momentum with a nice goal for Richmond and his second. The Tigers hold on to win by 8 points, as the Crows blunder some late opportunities. Richmond dominated the hit-outs and were +5 in the clearances, Adelaide with much more of the footy. The Tigers with 6 more inside 50's, for 1 less scoring shot, but better conversion. Taranto best afield, with 26 disposals, 6 clearances, 5 inside 50's, 8 tackles and an assist. Balta 20 disposals, 18 effective, 7 intercepts and 523 metres gained. Baker 24 disposals, 6 clearances, 7 inside 50's, 441 metres gained and a goal. Mansell 6 inside 50's, 8 tackles and 2 goals. For Adelaide, Nankervis 28 disposals and 10 intercepts. Dawson 32 disposals, 8 tackles, 504 metres gained and 2 assists.
3. (Rich) T. Taranto, 2. (Adel) L. Nankervis, 1. (Adel) J. Dawson.
Firefly: Trash (2003)
Mal: Yeah. That went well.
In Trash, Mal has an encounter with his old friend Monty, who introduces his wife Bridget, i.e. Saffron. After being left there Saffron proposes to steal a priceless antique from a fortress in the planet Balerephon to Mal and his crew.
It's a decent light episode, with constant back and forth between the two. Hilarious when Mal and Saffron are going into the details of the caper, while everyone's sitting there wondering why Saffron's on the ship. Wash: 'No, actually... I was wondering... WHAT'S SHE DOING ON THIS SHIP? Didn't she try to kill us? We're in space, I don't remember making a stop."
"Bye bye now."
AFL Sunday: Round 9: West Coast vs Essendon (1997)
Wce vs Ess, at Domain Stadium.
Essendon kicking with the breeze in the opening term, but it's all West Coast early, Gehrig on Hird. The Eagles smothering everything forward for the Bombers, but Hird gets the reply from 50. Prior follows with a classy goal through traffic out of defense. Alessio marks and adds another, Essendon leads by 2 at quarter-time. West Coast with two early goals in the 2nd, before Alessio marks and replies. The Eagles kick away with the breeze, Jakovich selling plenty of candy, slots it on the angle from distance. Young slots a much needed goal for Essendon before the half, cutting the deficit to 20. Hird slots his third in the 3rd and Denham from 50. Fewster takes his third overhead grab and slots his third for West Coast. The Eagles lead by 26 at 3-quarter time and will kick with the breeze in the 4th. Lewis cleans up another Bombers player, he's obviously got a holiday booked and on a mission. Morrison goals from 50 and Wooden puts Essendon away on the boundary, the Eagles home by 25 points. West Coast won the hit-outs, with more of the footy, for 10 more scoring shots, the Bombers with excellent conversion. Peter Matera best afield, with 24 disposals and 6 marks in defense. Grgic 19 disposals, 14 hit-outs, 6 marks and a goal. Jakovich 18 disposals, 7 marks and a goal. Cousins 21 disposals, 3 marks and 2 goals. Fewster 5 marks and 4 goals. For the Bombers, Hird 29 disposals, 3 marks and 4 goals. Prior 16 disposals, 5 marks and 2 goals. Denham 23 disposals, 3 marks and a goal. Alessio 10 disposals, 5 hit-outs, 4 marks and 2 goals.
3. (Wce) Pe. Matera, 2. (Ess) J. Hird, 1. (Wce) I. Grgic.
The Asphalt Jungle (1950)
Just politics, baby. Good old dirty politics.
In The Asphalt Jungle, a major heist goes off as planned, but then double crosses, bad luck and solid police work cause everything to unravel.
It's an okay to watchable noir crime caper, with an array of different characters, where no one gets out alive. Louis Calhern's Emmerich the most interesting of the bunch, the lawyer brought in to buy the gems and finance the operation, with Marilyn Monroe as his mistress. Doc knows he's broke, but still shows up there with the jewels anyway. It doesn't make a whole lot of sense and pretty substance-less. Then you've got this desperate Doll character, continuously walked all over. It's fine, overrated obviously.
Firefly: War Stories (2002)
Jayne: Oh, hey. Free soup.
In War Stories, Wash starts to become jealous of the bond between Zoe and Mal and demands to go with Mal to trade the cargo of medical supplies with locals. However Niska's men capture them and take them aboard the space-station.
Among the best of the episode's, where Wash takes center stage. Niska enjoys torture so much, he brings em back to life just to torture em some more, well played by Michael Fairman. Not sure what the deal with Mal continuing to make jokes is, either that's his coping mechanism or his way of making Niska like him, pleading to be spared. Wash garners a new level of respect for Mal here.
Firefly: Ariel (2002)
Simon: Well, if I didn't know better I'd say you all were ready to save some lives.
Serenity travels to the core world Ariel and Simon comes up with a plan to steal drugs from the hospital, while he investigates what they did to his sister.
The planning of the job perhaps overstays its welcome, there are some big moments though, with the two by two hands of blue. Tend to forget Jayne's betrayal's a little provoked with River slashing him at the beginning, it's not nothing. A favourite scene of mine with Mal and Jayne at the end, with Jayne feeling shame. It's pretty odd coming off the back of "Jaynestown" though, would've thought that experience might've changed him a little.
Firefly: Out of Gas (2002)
Mal: Okay, I need that in captain dummy talk, Kaylee.
In Out of Gas, when Serenity's life support system fails, Mal orders the crew off the ship, but he stays behind.
Splendid episode with gravitas and endearing qualities, among the best of the show. End of the world type, going down with the ship, with flashback introductions of the crew and how they came to be. Good performances by all involved, Nathan Fillion in particular. You'd think they'd carry backup parts out in space, just relying on Kaylee for everything heh. It's a well selected division of the shuttles I gotta say. Zoe didn't say why she came back, but then she wasn't conscious prior.
Firefly: Jaynestown (2002)
Zoe: Is that Jayne? Is that really him? Wash - pinch me, I must be dreamin'.
In Jaynestown, the crew has a job in a town where Jayne once robbed the magistrate but dropped the stolen money, making him a local folk hero, and a target for the local boss.
An amusing plot and a catchy tune. Jayne has his moments throughout the show. For the first time he's inspired others and one even gives their life for the. Mal chooses to take the time to appreciate the situation and help make sense of it. Jayne kicking ass with just his knife.
The man they call Jayne. He robbed from the rich and he gave to the poor. Stood up to The Man and he gave him what for. Our love for him now ain't hard to explain, the hero of Canton, the man they call Jayne!
AFL Sunday: Round 12: Gold Coast vs Essendon (2024)
Gcs vs Ess, at People First Stadium.
Both rucks out for either side. Wright kicks the opener for the Bombers and sets up the next, Long gets the Suns on the board. Essendon getting good numbers to the footy, King misses after the quarter-time siren, the Bombers up 9. King slots the first of the 2nd though, lots of defending sweeping back and forth between the arcs and Wright getting back intercepting. The Suns kick ahead though, up 8 at the half. King goals again to start the 3rd, Gold Coast with extra run and Essendon's scoring has come to a halt. Quite a few missed opportunities by the Bombers too, the Suns up 11 at 3-quarter time. Essendon manages to bring it back, before Gold Coast kicks away again. The Bomber bring it back within a goal late, but a ridiculous free and 50 ends things. The Suns won the hit-outs, Essendon +2 in the clearances, with an equal amount of the footy, the Bombers 17 more tackles applied. Essendon with 4 more inside 50's, for 5 more scoring shots, but the Suns much better conversion. Anderson best afield, with 33 disposals, 17 contested, 8 clearances, 5 tackles, 8 intercepts, 487 metres gained and 3 assists. Andrew 25 disposals, 22 effective, 8 intercepts and 508 metres gained. Rowell 26 disposals, 8 clearances, 11 tackles and 470 metres gained. Long 2 assists and a career-high 4 straight goals. King 2 contested marks and 4 goals. Collins 3 contested marks and 11 intercepts. For Essendon, Durham 23 disposals, 19 effective, 5 clearances, 6 inside 50's, 5 tackles, 446 metres gained and a goal. Redman 23 disposals, 22 effective and 10 intercepts.
3. (Gcs) N. Anderson, 2. (Gcs) M. Andrew, 1. (Gcs) M. Rowell.
Firefly: Our Mrs. Reynolds (2002)
Mal: C'mon, Inara. How's about we don't play. You didn't just trip, did you?
In Our Mrs. Reynolds, a woman claiming to be Mal's wife appears aboard Serenity.
A full service episode, fun throughout and a serious situation all said and done. Have to appreciate all the effort Saffron puts into it, despite being a killer. Dunno what the hell business it is of Book's getting on Mal, not sure where he thinks he is, but Mal doesn't let it affect him and Inara's little predicament's amusing. Jayne who appears to save the day, receives little to no thanks and River's conveniently uninvolved in the entire thing, in the backdrop being all seeing and all knowing.
Wash: We'd always hoped you two kids would get together. Who is she?
Saturday Afternoon AFL: Round 12: Hawthorn vs Adelaide (2024)
Haw vs Adel, at the MCG.
Rankine out for Adelaide. Reeves lays the tackle and kicks the opener for the Hawks and Gunston goals in his 250th. The ball living at Hawthorn's end, up 20 at quarter-time. Moore goals from the angle in 2nd and then another. Adelaide abysmal, down 29 at the half. Walker subbed out. Doesn't get any better in he 3rd for the Crows, before Fogarty goals from the boundary. The Hawks small-forwards constantly running into defenders and falling over and the umpires give them a goal for nothing, then you have the idiots in the commentary agreeing. Absolute joke, Riewoldt spent his whole career falling over asking for free-kicks... Then Ginnivan butchers it every time he touches it, but all they do is compliment him. Hawthorn up 33 going into the 4th and home comfortably by 27 points. The Crows dominated the hit-outs, the Hawks +10 in the clearances, Adelaide with more of the footy via handball. Hawthorn with 22 more inside 50's, for 9 more scoring shots. Moore best afield, with 27 disposals, 5 inside 50's, 5 goals and 2 assists. Newcombe 26 disposals, 9 clearances, 5 inside 50's, 457 metres gained and an assist. Scrimshaw 14 disposals, 3 contested marks and 10 intercepts. Sicily 21 disposals, 8 intercepts and 528 metres gained.
3. (Haw) D. Moore, 2. (Haw) J. Newcombe, 1. (Haw) J. Scrims-.
Friday Night Football: Round 12: Collingwood vs Western Bulldogs (2024)
Coll vs Wb, at Marvel Stadium.
The Pies with many absences, including De Goey, Richards out for the Dogs. Josh Daicos slots the opener from 50 on the angle and Collingwood with two more early goals. Dreadful pansy umpiring once more. Bontempelli goals on the angle, the Pies up 17 at quarter-time. Terloar goals out of congestion in the 2nd and the Dogs bring it back and hit the lead. Noble misses the mark by a mile on his second handball, Nick Daicos goals from 50 though. Darcy still can't be stopped and converts, the Pies up 3 at the half. A non-too-thrilling 3rd-term, Collingwood up 12 at 3-quarter time. The Dogs dominating field position in the 4th and hit the lead. Darcy with multiple impactful smothers in the match and kicks the sealer for the Dogs, home by 18 points. The Pies marginally won the hit-outs, the Dogs +17 in the clearances, with more of the footy. The Dogs with 23 more inside 50's, for just 1 more scoring shot, but better conversion. Bontempelli best afield, with 38 disposals, 10 clearances, 9 tackles, 519 metres gained, an assist and 2 goals. Darcy 5 contested marks and 3 goals. Treloar 37 disposals, 21 contested, 11 clearances, 9 inside 50's, 6 intercepts, 687 metres gained, a goal and an assist. For the Pies, Nick Daicos 32 disposals, 27 contested, 16 clearances, 8 inside 50's, 627 metres gained and 2 goals. Moore 14 disposals, 3 contested marks and 8 intercepts.
3. (Wb) M. Bontempelli, 2. (Coll) N. Daicos, 1. (Wb) S. Darcy.
Firefly: Safe (2002)
Kaylee: Looks like it was made with, you know, longing. Made by a person really longed to see a swan.
In Safe, Mal must choose which crew members to save when one is gravely wounded and two others are kidnapped. Simon finds an uneasy haven in a remote village, but River's uncanny perceptions jeopardize the Tams' temporary safety.
One of the least thrilling episode's for sure. Gunfire takes place where they are already standing, River goes off and does a dance and much of the episode's spent with Simon, revisiting the past. The best part is Kaylee confronting Simon's offhand remarks.
Kaylee: "You were being mean, is what. And if that's what you think of this life, then you can't think much of them that choose it, can you."
Firefly: Shindig (2002)
Kaylee: Is that him? Mal: That's the buffet table.
In Shindig, Mal attends a social event in order to secure a job transporting cargo off-planet for a client, where a dance with Inara leads to him being challenged to a swordfight in defense of her honor.
The episode's on the silly side, exploring the Inara romance and lacking of any other plot. Obviously Mal didn't have to just accept this fate in a fight he can't win, but here he does. The dialogue could certainly be better too.
At the start on Inara's screen it looks like a video message sent by the first guy, but then Atherton's talking directly to her, so that means she just cut the first guy off... damn. Better hope you don't run into all these people you rudely cut off, at this party or another.
