In a major M&a move, Banijay UK has acquired independent scripted production company Caryn Mandabach Productions Limited (Cmp). Cmp, founded by prolific award-winning producer Caryn Mandabach, produces and owns the BAFTA-winning global hit drama series and brand, Peaky Blinders.
Under the agreement, Cmp’s slate of projects and back catalog transfers to Banijay UK. Moving forward, the group will manage all future series, spin-offs and brand ventures resulting from that IP including the recently announced Peaky Blinders movie, which has been greenlit by Netflix, as Deadline exclusively reported earlier this week. Mandabach remains attached to the film as a producer alongside Steven Knight, Cillian Murphy and Guy Heeley.
Mandabach, whose list of credits is extensive, will pivot to a first-look development and producer agreement with Banijay UK under her newly formed Conduit Productions umbrella.

The sixth season finale of The Conners aired last night, and if things had worked out differently, it could have also been the sitcom's series finale. The cast and crew reportedly filmed an alternate closing scene, just in case the show had been cancelled. The series was ultimately renewed for a seventh and final season of just six episodes.
Starring John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson, the ABC series is a spin-off of Roseanne, and follows Dan Conner (Goodman) and his extended family as they struggle through life in the fictional town of Lanford, Illinois.

Today, associate editor Tyler Johnson and I had an off-the-cuff conversation that felt like an article in the making.
But what if the conversation is more fun than any article we could write? We’re about to find out.
Carissa: I love this bit from David Cronenberg from an interview with The Hollywood Reporter out of Cannes:
THR: So if you’re not ready to put your filmmaking career to bed, what makes you get up each day with an inkling you may do another movie?
Cronenberg: What makes me wake up is the thought of breakfast, quite frankly. That’s enough to get me out of bed.
Tyler: Love him, love that.

ABC has officially announced that The Conners will return for a seventh and final season. This news comes as a bittersweet moment for fans who have followed the series since its inception as a Roseanne spinoff in 2018. We wanted to land this show in a place where it felt like we could say goodbye in the best way possible, said Sara Gilbert, who not only stars as Darlene but has also served as an executive producer. The upcoming final season will be the shortest in the show’s history, with ABC announcing that it will consist of a concise six

ABC is switching up its schedule in a big way come fall 2024, and it’s bad news for some of our favorite series.
The Rookie, which has been bounced around the schedule in recent years, won’t return for Season 7 until 2025.
An exact timeline for the show’s return has not been determined, but it will have an 18-episode order, which is pretty good when considering the delayed start.
ABC plans to air those 18 episodes uninterrupted. Will Trent, which has been renewed for Season 3, is also getting the same treatment.
The biggest shocker on the fall schedule is the decision to bump Grey’s Anatomy to the 10/9c slot after spinoff Station 19 ends its run.
The news comes following a budget cut for the long-running medical drama, which will reduce the number of series regulars per episode.

It’s over for The Conners at ABC. The network has officially canceled the beloved Roseanne spinoff, confirming its seventh season will be its last. The final season is expected to be short, with only six episodes, bringing the total episode count to 106 after the series concludes on May 22. This is a significant drop from previous seasons and confirms lingering speculations about the show’s uncertain future. End of an Era The Conners premiered in 2018 following the controversial firing of Roseanne Barr from the reboot of her eponymous sitcom Roseanne. Barr’s highly publicized removal stemmed from racist remarks she

Following its landmark 100th episode, ABC’s beloved family sitcom The Conners, a continuation of Roseanne, is set to conclude with its upcoming seventh season. This announcement comes as bittersweet news to fans who have followed the Conner family through decades of laughter, drama, and familial shifts. Farewell to a Family Marking the end of an era, The Conners began its journey in October 2018, stepping in as the narrative successor to Roseanne. The Conners fans can breathe a sigh of relief as the ABC comedy will return for a seventh and final season at the network. The Roseanne spinoff was rumored to be renewed for an abbreviated final run by Deadline, which originally reported that the upcoming season would allow for the wrap-up of ongoing storylines from the current sixth season. Fresh off of its 100th episode, The Conners renewal isn’t altogether shocking as the television family continues to delight. Disney/Justin Stephens Current original stars of Roseanne, John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson are expected to return for the season, reprising their roles as Dan, Jackie, Darlene, and Becky. The Conners will get one final run on ABC.
The network has picked up a seventh season of the comedy, which will be its last on the network. It’s also set to be the shortest of any of the show’s seasons, with an episode count likely in the single digits. The shortest previous season of The Conners was its first, which ran 11 episodes; this year’s strikes-shortened edition has 13. The series as a whole will have 106 episodes to its credit after the May 22 season finale.
The Conners premiered in fall 2018, a few months after ABC canceled its highly rated Roseanne revival following racist remarks by star Roseanne Barr. After the show’s producers, including Tom Werner and Sara Gilbert, negotiated Barr’s exit, ABC gave a series order to The Cooners, which follows the other members of the Conner family (Roseanne’s character dies offscreen before the show...

It’s official: The Conners will be getting a proper goodbye. The Roseanne follow-up has been renewed for seventh and final season. As Deadline reported exclusively last week, the order is believed to be for six episodes, with the main cast, including John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert and Lecy Goranson, expected to return. The renewal took longer to finalize because dates for the cast, particularly Goodman, had to be worked out, I hear.
Along with the official renewal, ABC has released the first “farewell season” promo, which leans into The Conners‘ history that spans two shows. With The Conners recently airing its 100th episode, Roseanne becomes a rare comedy franchise to produce two series that have hit that milestone.
“You’ve been part of this family for years,” the promo says, mixing footage from The Conners with a couple of shots from Roseanne. “After 6 seasons, be there to say goodbye.

The ABC sitcom The Conners was renewed on May 2 for Season 7, which the network has announced will be the show's last.
That final season, which will wrap the series up with an abbreviated order of six episodes, will bring to a close a saga that began in 1988.
We first met the Conners that year on the first season of Roseanne, a long-running series on ABC that ran until 1997.
The series was created by the famous comedian Roseanne Barr, who also starred as a character named Roseanne.
More than 20 years later, Roseanne was revived, with the majority of the original cast, once again on ABC. The revival was a big ratings success that led to its immediate renewal for a second season.

Double Oscar winner George Clooney has become one of the most successful people in his profession but despite family connections (his aunt was the late singer Rosemary Clooney), he struggled for years to make it as an actor.
After dropping out of college, Clooney would try his hand at acting. He struggled for a few years until finding a part on “E/R” in 1984. This wasn’t the “ER” that would make him a star 10 years later, but instead was a short-lived sitcom with the same name. Some of this TV season’s blood has already been spilled — looking at you, “NCIS: Hawai’i” — but as we head toward upfronts week, there are still a number of broadcast shows “on the bubble.”
But as the networks settle in on a diet of mostly stable franchises and fewer series pilots, there’s also less primetime schedule frenzy this year. The days before upfronts week which would normally mean a rapid fire few days of broadcast series renewals and cancellations announcements. But normal left the building a long time ago.
The broadcast network portion of upfronts has been so significantly pared down from years past that it hardly resembles what it used to be. These days, most of the broadcast networks announce renewals and cancellations well ahead of their actual presentations.
Take CBS, which has already announced its new fall and spring schedules as well as all of its renewals and cancellations.

Did The Conners get saved from cancellation or was the series axed in a shocking twist? As of recently, the show’s fate was up in the air as it neared the end of Season 6. It was also set for a schedule change so there was a lot going on and many unanswered questions. So, what has ultimately happened? Keep reading for more details.

With just three episodes left in Season 6, it was not looking promising for The Conners to be renewed. At this point, it was late in the game and the stars should have signed on if there was to be another season. Since no one really knew their fate, an extra bit was filmed in case the season finale...

One of TV’s most iconic families gets a chance to say goodbye.
Deadline reports that The Conners is nearing an official pickup at ABC for Season 7.
The caveat is that it would be the Roseanne follow-up’s final season of around six episodes.
A deal is still being ironed out but is expected to be finalized relatively soon. John Goodman, Laurie Metcalf, Sara Gilbert, and Lecy Goranson are among the cast members expected to return.
Many final seasons of long-running shows lose cast members due to the ever-increasing costs of making TV.
A consistent performer for ABC since it premiered, the show has much softer ratings than Roseanne – all following Roseanne’s controversial cancellation in 2018.

Today's intel is a bit of a mixed bag for fans of The Conners.
After months of cancelation rumors, the long-running Roseanne spinoff has been renewed for a seventh season.
That's the good news.
The bad news is that the show will be coming to an end for good.
And it will do so with a dramatically reduced episode count.
According to a report from Deadline, producers were able to work out a deal with ABC wherein the show will be extended so that it can offer viewers a proper conclusion.
Unfortunately, that conclusion will unfold over just six episodes.
Again, it could've been worse, as there were fears that The Conners would be unceremoniously kicked to the curb at the end of its current season.
The situation was so dire that a tag scene was shot for the upcoming season finale that would end the story in a satisfactory way,...

Exclusive: Good news for The Conners fans. The Roseanne follow-up, which just marked its 100th episode, will be getting a seventh season. Why did The Conners lose its time slot and get moved so close to the end of Season 6? There are just a handful of episodes left yet the show had been moved back much later. So, what is the reason for this switch? Keep reading for more details.
Why Did ‘The Conners’ Lose Time Slot, Get Moved?
The Conners has been a staple on Wednesdays at 8 pm on ABC since Season 5. Prior to that, however, it aired at 9 pm. The move did not really matter much as fans were just happy the show was getting renewed. It was on shaky ground as it started as a Roseanne reboot in 2018. Then, she was fired but the cast and crew were not done just yet. So, the matriarch was killed off and the series was rebranded and has lasted six seasons, bringing back many familiar faces. Now, the show is moving to a brand new time slot.

Leanne Morgan’s current tour is called Just Getting Started, and the 58-year-old comedian is living up to that with a comedy series and two more specials at Netflix. The streamer has given a 16-episode order to an untitled multi-cam sitcom, headlined by Morgan in her TV acting debut and executive produced by top comedy showrunner Chuck Lorre. Additionally, Netflix has picked up two more stand-up specials from Morgan following the success of her first one, the 2023 Leanne Morgan: I’m Every Woman.
Co-created by Morgan, Lorre and Susan McMartin, the Untitled Leanne Morgan Project will follow Leanne whose life is upended when her husband of 33 years leaves her for another woman. Starting over when you’re a grandmother and in menopause isn’t exactly what she had in mind, but with the help of her family, she will navigate this new chapter with grace, dignity and jello salad.

The Conners have always struggled with money — but a financial development in the Roseanne spinoff’s most recent episode probably caught a few longtime viewers off guard.
Season 6, Episode 8 (“Toilet Hacks and the Management Trick”) marked Dan Conner’s 70th birthday. To commemorate the occasion, Dan announced to the family that he was going to start collecting his social security and union pension. “Yep, I beat the system by being poor and living longer than the government thought I would,” he said. (I mean, he lived longer than any of us thought he would, but I digress….)

Actor John Goodman, 71, known for Roseanne and The Big Lebowski, was spotted with a slimmed-down figure at John F. Kennedy Airport in New York. Goodman was with his wife, Anna Beth Goodman this weekend. Goodman has lost a remarkable 200 pounds over the last few years.
Goodman wore khaki pants and a dark green sweatshirt over a blue shirt, while his wife wore a white blouse with dark pants and white sneakers.
Since 2007, Goodman has been working on his health after quitting drinking. The actor worked with a fitness trainer to build an exercise routine and reshape his diet. It was said that Goodman took on a “Mediterranean-style eating plan,” incorporating fish, nuts, olive oil, vegetables and fruits.
Goodman’s exercise routine consisted of working out six days a week, aiming to take 10,000 to 12,000 steps daily with a treadmill or elliptical bicycle.
In 2016, Goodman talked to Howard Stern about his fitness journey.

Spoiler Alert! This story contains plot points from Wednesday’s episode of The Conners on ABC.

For any television series reaching its 100th episode, looking back is a given, but there aren’t many shows with a 35-year history like ABC’s “The Conners,” the sitcom following the blue-collar family with an affinity for getting knocked down by life’s struggles while making us laugh along the way. “It’s just lucky, I guess,” says John Goodman, who plays patriarch Dan Conner. “Now all of a sudden, it’s 100 episodes. I can’t believe how fast the time went by, but I guess that’s just because I’m getting old.”

The return of some classic Roseanne actors has come wondering if comedian Roseanne Barr will ever come back to play a role in The Conners.
Barr was the lead of the beloved ABC sitcom bearing her name for nine seasons from 1988 to 1997 along with a revival that saw the actress (along with the rest of the cast) return to the show in 2018.
However, despite plans for more, the Roseanne revival was canceled and the spin-off The Conners was greenlit, coming after Barr's reputation was sullied thanks to some controversial tweets.

The Evansville, Indiana “Roseanne house” is back on the market. The outside was used to establish the location for the Roseanne and The Conners series.
The house is near the University of Evansville at 619 Runnymeade Avenue. The inside looks nothing like the sitcom. Roseanne was created by Evansville native, Matt Williams.
The house was last on sale in 2015.
Listing Agent Dorren Hallenberger claims people have been reaching out about the famous home.
“People wanna know what the inside looks like now since they watched the television show,” said Hallenberger. “People looked at all the interior pictures online so people just to know what’s going on in Evansville, and you know it’s important to the community.”
The home has four bedrooms and two full baths. It is being sold “as is,” although freshly painted with news carpets. See the complete listing here.
