Get ready for more retro-styled Survival Horror, as Top Hat Studios and developer J.R. Hudepohl are bringing fans Labyrinth Of The Demon King to PC via Steam in 2025. Set in a world inspired by feudal Japan, the appropriately dark title carries that grainy low-fi aesthetic (complete with a 4:3 aspect ratio!), and has the usual inspiration from the likes of Resident Evil and Silent Hill. This time, we also get the dungeon-crawling aspect of FromSoftware’s King’s Field.
The story for Labyrinth Of The Demon King centres around Ashigaru, a footsoldier in the service of Lord Takeda Nobumitsu. The world has entered The Latter Age Of The Dharma, with society crumbling, and war, disease and famine having killed thousands. Not to mention that there are demons roaming around.
Deceived by a powerful demon king, Nobumitsu led his army into an ambush, with you being the only survivor. Against your wishes,...

“At first, I thought they were a rock and roll band because they all kind of came in with bandanas and long hair and beards and stuff like that,” reveals Ron Howard about his first encounter with Jim Henson and his team behind the Muppets. For our recent webchat he says that it was his one-and-only 1970s encounter with Henson, adding “I did cross paths with him one time backstage at this crazy prime-time live variety show that ABC was trying to hatch as a regular series. They didn’t wind up continuing with it, but were both guests on an it, and for a brief moment, we kind of intersected.”
Howard is the director and producer behind the new Disney+ documentary “Jim Henson Idea Man” about the legendary founder of the Muppets. Henson’s children gave Howard and his documentary team full access to the family and company archives.

Plot: “Jim Henson Idea Man” takes us into the mind of this singular creative visionary, from his early years puppeteering on local television to the worldwide success of Sesame Street, The Muppet Show, and beyond. Featuring unprecedented access to Jim’s personal archives, Howard brings us a fascinating and insightful look at a complex man whose boundless imagination inspired the world.
Review: It’s hard to properly quantify the importance of someone like Jim Henson. The value of education is obvious but the ability to make it fun for kids is a tough nut to crack. Whether it’s through Sesame Street or The Muppets, Henson’s work has taught generations. That’s not to mention the emotional maturity brought on by films like The Dark Crystal and Labyrinth. So it’s well overdue that we’re treated to a documentary, lovingly portraying one of the most remarkable minds in Hollywood.

Chris Hemsworth is a powerhouse when it comes to acting. Having portrayed some of the fiercest and most formidable characters in cinema during his entire career, even the actor’s looks scream that he might be just as tough and intense in real life as he is on-screen most of the time. Despite mostly playing such powerful characters, Hemsworth has a soft, gentle heart.

Jim Henson: Idea Man is a story about how rare it is to be in the presence of a true original and such pure creative genius. Jim Henson was not just an expert at marketing his brand; he was certainly no fool in that department. He was an artist of the highest order. Mr. Henson was a technological innovator, allowing his puppets to emote and move in unprecedented ways.
Mr. Henson then brought those talents to Hollywood films, contributing to projects such as Labyrinth and the experimental The Dark Crystal. He brought joy to millions of families’ homes with The Muppets and Fraggle Rock. Perhaps most importantly, his work on Sesame Street left a lasting impact on children by teaching them skills that went beyond the classroom.
Move over, Mr. Rogers, Mr. Henson was America’s empathetic hero. He just let his friends like Kermit take the credit.

Even though we saw the last Harry Potter movie 13 years ago, the discussions regarding the franchise’s characters and the actors who portrayed them aren’t going to subside in a while. The same is with the first movies’ antagonist, fierce and arrogant Draco Malfoy, who was convincingly played by Tom Felton, the fandom’s favorite blondie.
It can seem that the actor now stays out of the spotlight or is out of acting at all, however, he isn’t. Indeed, after his Hp success Felton took smaller roles in a number of lesser-known projects, but that doesn’t mean they’re not worth a try.
The same year when The Deathly Hallows – Part 2 was released, the Draco actor appeared in Rise of the Planet of the Apes (2011), which gained a lot of hype at the time. The role of Dodge Landon marked a far cry from the role of Harry Potter’s rival.

There's a delightful moment early in Ron Howard's documentary "Jim Henson Idea Man," where Henson, creator of the Muppets, appears on "The Orson Welles Show." Recounting his youth, Henson admits that when he was a child he had absolutely no interest in puppets, nor did he use puppets. Welles is overdramatically shocked. "You never saw a puppet?" the auteur turned talk-show host asks, incredulous. Henson didn't say those exact words, but he nods in agreement. It's a wonderful little anecdote: the man who is perhaps the most famous puppeteer to ever live didn't really care about puppets when he was younger. As "Idea Man" makes clear in its early moments, puppetry just sort of happened to Jim Henson. As a young guy obsessed with TV and filmmaking, Henson answered an ad for puppetry on a local TV station — and the rest is history. Henson was a natural, and his career...

If you were to learn that Disney+, from the company that owns the work created by the late Jim Henson, was broadcasting a documentary about the visionary puppeteer and filmmaker and that doc was being directed by Ron Howard with substantial input from Henson’s family, you could probably guess what the movie would be like.
And you’d be right.
In this case, though, there’s nothing wrong with a little predictability. Henson and Howard are a fine match, and the sort of film you’d expect Ron Howard to make – straightforward, skillful, honest and sympathetic – is pretty much the kind of movie you’d want about Jim Henson.
There are surprises in “Jim Henson Idea Man,” which had its world premiere on Saturday night in the Cannes Classics section of the Cannes Film Festival. But there’s nothing shocking, nothing earthshaking about this portrait of the man who gave us Big Bird,...

It may not be too much of an exaggeration to say that Jim Henson came up with the concept for an immersive video dome long before Sphere bubbled up in Las Vegas.
In the mid-1960s he developed an idea for a nightclub he called Cyclia – “the entertainment experience of the future” – that would feature crystal panels throughout the ceiling, floor and walls onto which films would be projected.
“Once an hour, a woman in a white leotard would rise from a pedestal in the center of the floor to have film projected on her body as she danced,” writes author Brian Jay Jones in Jim Henson: A Biography.
For better or worse, the psychedelia-inspired concept never became a reality. But it’s an example of the restless imagination that propelled Henson throughout his life. The incredible range of Henson’s creative urges come into focus in Ron Howard’s documentary Jim Henson Idea Man,...

It’s fitting that Ron Howard’s documentary “Jim Henson Idea Man” gets its name from the man himself. During an early bit of voiceover, we hear the “Sesame Street” and “Muppets” creator describe his take on just what it is he does: Idea man. Nothing more, nothing less.
As the film winds on, others are more lofty in their estimations. Henson was a “man with a purpose,” a superhuman, someone for whom terms like “incredibly productive” can’t do justice. He “wanted to do more than was humanly possible,” one of Henson’s adult children tells us. Howard’s film reminds us how true that was during Henson’s lifetime and into his continuing legacy.
Henson was a puppeteer and creator of everything from The Muppets to “Fraggle Rock,” an animator and actor, a TV genius (Henson’s fingerprints are still on every element of “Sesame Street”), and a filmmaker.

Ascended rock deity David Bowie appeared on TV and in movies as early as 1968, only shortly after the release of his first record. His first leading performance came in 1972 with the release of Nicolas Roeg's sci-fi satire "The Man Who Fell to Earth," a film about an alien who comes to Earth and becomes distracted by drugs, TV, and other unhealthy creature comforts. Bowie later played himself in Uli Edel's harrowing 1981 J.D. flick "Christiane F.," in addition to starring in the smoky vampire film "The Hunger" and terse Pow drama "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence." A younger generation fell in love with Bowie because of 1986's puppet film "Labyrinth," while he was cleverly cast as Pontius Pilate in Martin Scorsese's "The Last Temptation of Christ."
In 1993, when director Renny Harlin was preparing to make his mountainside actioner and Sylvester Stallone vehicle "Cliffhanger," he very much wanted Bowie to play the film's villain.

Guillermo del Toro is renowned for the many masterpieces he has created. His artistic prowess has allowed a certain sense of faith that fans find themselves with because of the darker elements he is willing to tap into. As someone who has always found himself liking darker sketches and the scary side of things, exploring the gothic storylines isn’t something the director is afraid of.

You remind me of the babe? What babe? The babe with the massive cult following! Nearly 40 years since its release, Labyrinth has endured as one of the most beloved fantasy movies ever. While it was a flop at the box office, the movie would go on to embody so much of what makes the genre what it is, not to mention it being a charming – and sometimes frightening – representation of the brilliance of cinematic puppetry.
Like so many of our favorite movies, when it comes down to it, the box office numbers never mattered. That’s definitely the case with Labyrinth, which took in just under $13 million domestically on a budget reportedly around double that. Jennifer Connelly remembered “hearing rumblings” of it being poorly attended at the multiplex but that it eventually found its fandom. “People’s affection has grown over the years. Pop history is littered with prolific partnerships, but the artist-producer pairing is arguably one of the most indispensable. Not only can an intrepid knob-twirler coax the best out of an artist, the most fruitful of these collaborations are often reciprocal. Think George Martin and the Beatles; Timbaland and Missy Elliott; or Jam & Lewis and Janet Jackson. Taylor Swift and former Fun guitarist-drummer Jack Antonoff have both achieved commercial and critical success outside of their work together, but their alliance over the last several years has, more often than not, resulted in pop magic.
The duo first worked together over a decade ago, on the unassuming “Sweeter Than Fiction,” a song from the British-American film One Chance. The following year, Antonoff co-wrote and co-produced three tracks for Swift’s blockbuster album 1989, the success of which propelled him to the top of every A&r exec’s wish list, helming tracks for Pink,...

How did Jim Henson inspire generations of dreamers? Director Ron Howard chronicles the life and legacy of this master puppeteer in “Jim Henson Idea Man.” The documentary follows Henson’s life from working on local television to crafting a highly regarded filmography. Along the way, he would see The Muppets become pop culture icons in their own right with a TV series and several box office hits. Henson’s work also extended to children’s education programming with the much beloved “Sesame Street.”

“The most open, warm person I have ever known. Her passing has left a huge hole in our lives as a family. I miss her hugs,” Warwick continued. “She was a unique character, always seeing the sunny side of life. She had a wicked sense of humor and always laughed at my bad jokes.”

Has it really been five years since the release of Ready or Not? The film, which starred Samara Weaving as a young bride who her spouse’s wealthy family hunts as part of a ritual, received positive reviews and didn’t do too badly at the box office, so where’s the sequel? Well, directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and producer Chad Villella — collectively known as Radio Silence — told Entertainment Weekly that they’ve been working on Ready or Not 2 since the release of the first movie and tease that it’s “an absolute f***ing banger.“
“It’s getting figured out,” said Gillett. “That’s what we’ll say: Ready or Not 2 is getting figured out. What we can say is that there is a script that is an absolute f—ing banger of a sequel. And however it gets made, and in whatever capacity we are helping get it made,...

You remember Road House, right? The 1989 movie where Patrick Swayze is a professional New York City bouncer imported to Missouri to work at the most raucous road house bar in the Show Me State? The kind of film in which the hero does tai chi, reads philosophy and coos Zen koans like “Pain don’t hurt,” and the bad guy utters bon mots like, “I used to fuck guys like you in prison?” (It was a different time.) Jennifer Lopez is winning hearts with her latest musical film This is Me…Now: A Love Story which released on Amazon Prime on February 16th, 2024. The film which is the second installment in a 3-part project, plays out as a quirky romantic drama loosely based on the superstar artist’s experiences with love and heartbreak which ultimately led to rekindling her romance with Ben Affleck.
Jennifer Lopez in a still from This is Me…Now: A Love Story
Interestingly, the ambitious scale of Lopez’s film brings back memories of an earlier project starring David Bowie titled Labyrinth. This musical fantasy film which released in 1986 had all the makings of a cult classic, but unfortunately ended up being a flop owing to its lack of connect with audiences.

You remind me of the babe. What babe? The babe with the – woah! If there’s one thing we can’t shake from 1986’s Labyrinth, it’s not the remarkably inventive set design, the memorable characters from Jim Henson’s Creature Shop or the fantastic early performance from Jennifer Connelly. It’s the real scene-stealer and childhood-destroyer from Labyrinth – David Bowie’s junk. And if you thought you couldn’t rid your mind of it, imagine having to keep tabs on its size during filming.
Brian Henson – son of director Jim Henson – recently told ComicBook.com that Bowie’s “codpiece” actually changes sizes throughout the movie, which surely only the most devoted Labyrinth fans would have noticed. “The scene where it’s most prevalent I think, is the scene where David pretends he’s a beggar, and then pulls off the costume and stands up, and it’s the Goblin King.

It’s beautiful how movies can take us back to an innocent time. A perfect example is the absolute adoration of Jim Henson’s classic features, The Dark Crystal (1982) and Labyrinth (1986). For many, growing up on The Muppets and Sesame Street brought a level of excitement for both of these features. Even still, while Crystal made a decent showing at the box office, audiences weren’t ready for Labyrinth upon its release. Now, however, both films have found themselves well-loved and admired. So much so that both are getting the 4K treatment, and you can stream them immediately.

Fathom Events, the premier name in specialty distribution, is partnering with New York-based Paper Canoe Company to bring the new fantasy film Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps to theaters nationwide this summer, we’ve learned this week.

Exclusive: Fathom Events has acquired the fantasy throwback film Man and Witch: The Dance of a Thousand Steps, set to be released nationwide in theaters sometime this summer.

The screenplay to the 2014 mega-hit "Guardians of the Galaxy," the 10th film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, was credited to director James Gunn and longtime Hollywood screenwriter Nicole Perlman. Perlman also has story credits on the films "Captain Marvel" and "Pokémon Detective Pikachu," and has previously been attached to a sequel to the 1986 Jim Henson film "Labyrinth," as well as film adaptations of the 1980s toy properties "Visionaries" and "M.A.S.K."
Perlman, according to an old article on the Marvel website, was recruited into the Marvel writing room way back in 2009 and was offered the opportunity to write a spec script for a "lesser" Marvel property as a test of her style and working capabilities. She selected "Guardians of the Galaxy," a Marvel title that had been rebooted by authors Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning the year before. Perlman said to her interviewer that this was a common...

Starting with “Labyrinth”, Lijo Pellissery begun to move away from the ultra-fast, ultra-tense, ultra-violent style he had established with film like “Angamaly Diaries” and “Jallikattu”, slowing down and becoming slightly more arty. This change is cemented in “Like An Afternoon Dream” which implements a rather oneiric approach throughout, although the tension is not exactly missing from here either.

The late, great Jim Henson's impact on television cannot be understated. Obviously, "Sesame Street" was a trailblazer for children's programming. Using Henson's googly-eyed puppets, the PBS series educated kids about everything from math to the different cultures of the world and the circle of life itself. Henson's "Fraggle Rock" was no less ambitious; beneath the boisterous songs and the rowdy Fraggles' shenanigans was a radical peacenik series Henson hoped would "change the world and stop war."
"Muppet Babies," an animated show featuring Henson's Muppets as pint-sized toddlers in a nursery, set its sights nearly as high. At first, Henson was hesitant to collaborate on the series with Marvel Productions, worrying the studio's children's cartoons based on known properties in the 1970s and early '80s lacked the depth of his previous TV ventures. In time, though, it was the very challenge of producing a cartoon that held to...

The Bloody Disgusting-powered Screambox is home to a variety of unique horror content, from originals and exclusives to cult classics and documentaries. With such a rapidly-growing library, there are many hidden gems waiting to be discovered.
Alongside exclusives like Secret Santa and Night of the Missing and such classics as Black Christmas and Silent Night, Deadly Night 2, here are five Christmas horror recommendations you can stream on Screambox right now.
Christmas Evil
Not to be confused with the innumerable Santa slashers, Christmas Evil (also known as You Better Watch Out) is tonally more in line with Taxi Driver than Silent Night, Deadly Night. Looking back, it's no wonder "Labyrinth" bombed at the box office. The last feature film directed by the late, great Jim Henson is just too inspiredly bizarre to have ever stood a chance of catching on with a mainstream audience right away, much less at the height of the Reagan era when it originally came out in 1986. It took many years of young people singing along to "Magic Dance" during slumber parties and coming to recognize their own sexual awakening right along with the then-teenaged Jennifer Connelly as Sarah for the film to become the cult classic it is today.
Indeed, dark, twisted, and occasionally sensual fantasy films that struggle to catch on with the masses before finding a niche audience were very much Henson's bag in the '80s. His and Frank Oz's 1982 feature film "The Dark Crystal" was also a financial dud that enjoyed a long...

Taylor Swift has postponed tonight’s Eras Tour concert in Buenos Aires due to what she called “truly chaotic” weather, a description that might also apply to the media frenzy with the arrival in Argentina last night of Travis Kelce.
The Kansas City Chiefs tight end reportedly arrived in Buenes Aires on Thursday, fueling speculation that he’d be attending either tonight’s now-canceled show or, more likely, the Saturday night show.
The canceled Friday show at Estadio River Plate Stadium has been rescheduled for Sunday night.
Next up for Swift are three shows in Rio de Janeiro next weekend, then São Paulo, Tokyo, Australia, Singapore, France, Sweden and more. See the full itinerary here.
