- ABC edited 24 seconds from this film for its 1986 network television premiere.
- On the widescreen Laserdisc version, the sound effect when the staff lands in the map room after Indy drops it, is different from all other versions.
- When the film was broadcast in HD for the first time on German TV in 2009, the film featured a new 5.1 sound mix. Except for Indiana Jones and Marcus Brody, all roles were spoken by different voice actors than in the original dubbing.
- The original 1983 pan-and-scan VHS release, instead of letter-boxing the opening credits like later editions have, the titles all together are changed, made obvious by the different type of font and color.
- The 4K Blu-ray release cleans up even more VFX shots, a significant one being when Indy and Sallah are about to open the tomb of the Ark.
- DVD release cleans up numerous effects shots. The effects aren't replaced, but various visible riggings and matte lines were erased digitally including the reflection when Indy is facing down the cobra.
