Black Beach (2020)
Definitely under-rated. To be watched.
No, it's not fast and furious 8 in Africa. It's more a Constant Gardener type of movie (though not as good). It's realistic regarding the cynical attitude of developped countries, big trusts and even international organizations toward Africa. The story is pretty clear (I did not understand some comments) and actors are good.
Tomiris (2019)
A good epic movie based on true history.
We know by Herodotus and other writers that Cyrus was defeated and killed by Tomyris, Queen of Massagetes, a Scythian people. He had probably arrested and killed her son (some stories said he committed suicide when being a prisoner).
So it is a fictional story based on true history, as far as we know.
And it's a good action movie. Landscapes are fantastic and battles are very well shot.
Le guetteur (2012)
Disappointing
So many good actors in such a disappointing movie. It looks like it was written in parts by different writers who did not know what the predecessor had written. Characters are superficial and not credible. For the first time, I found Daniel Auteuil not playing well.
The Legend of Zorro (2005)
Nice movie, but ...
Although the 2000 Zorroes don't find the Fairbanks-Power magic (I guess it is very difficult to find Basile Rathbone's type of baddies) I really liked this "legend", and so did my kids. I think the scenario is a bit less far-fetched than the previous one's. The actors are excellent. Stunts (fights on the top of the train) are great as well.Waiting for the number 3, with old Antonio Banderas handing over to his son (but in the 1860s, it will be hard to have sword duels)...
I just have one concern: the bad guy is a French, again, and wants to destroy the young United States. As far as I know, French were among the US best allies in real history.I wonder how long the French are going to pay in movies for their position against the war in Irak (see "Master and Commander", where the original English enemy was surprisingly re-baptized French). Hollywood scenarists were known to be more independent in the 1950s, and some of them among the best were blacklisted for that.I'm still waiting for a movie about the (absence of) nuclear weapons and true financial interests in Irak.
