Star Trek: Picard (2020)
Finally....!
Season 3 - They produced it just like real fans would do. Skip season 1 and 2 and finally enjoy new, real Star Trek!
Somehow there are monster-of-the-week-ly stories and a whole top story is holdin' a construction.
And when I talk to my friends, I tell them, that season 3 of picard is like an unshot Star Trek XI, that's shot.
Now, that's what Star Trek used to be in it's best times.
Let's say 'Thanks!' to Mr Goldsman and his whole team, from producers to set-runners, finally gave the Trekkies what they've longing for so long.
Even the actors seem to act with so joyful love to the good ol' times, so thanks to all of you!
Jurassic World Dominion (2022)
No feeling at all
They have Sattler, Grant, Malcolm, dinosaurs, but they gave the movie no Jurassic Park-feeling at all.
Instead it feels like a Bond-movie.
Do it again or cancel the series.
Dexter: New Blood (2021)
Dexter became a Sherlock
One-dimensional characters, lazy-writing, Dexter is no longer a scientist but now analyzes (only 2) crime-scenes in Sherlock-style (things simply come to his mind), Dexter now acts like a bloody beginner although he cloaked his identity about 20-30 before....
The appearing sister has not a single function but saying 'Better don't do that.'
This inofficial 9th season is completely predictable with no surprises.
Even the showrunner of the first 4 very good season couldn't change that. Now let's rewatch season 1-4, so that we can keep Dexterin good reminiscence.
Nie opuszczaj mnie (2010)
I feel distance
I feel distance - Not to the movie itself but to the main-characters. There are so many dream-sequences, flashbacks and other "artsy" stuff in the movie, that I can find no way to catch the characters over a period. Great pictures, interesting story but main-characters the viewer won't get close to.
Malignant (2021)
Classical Slasher with bigger budget and new vfx
As well as I don't hype the slasher-movies of the 80's and nineties, as good I accept Wan's will to do an 80's Slasher with own idea.
Slashers seldom find a surprising end with no clumsy ending-dialougues. So this one doesn't. Well played, good looking, nothing inventional but entertaining.
On - drakon (2015)
Beautiful version of Beauty and the Beast
The old 'Beauty and the Beast' in a new likeable story.
A known fairytale in modern fantasy-pictures creates a fantasy-story in a gothic-romantic way. Okay, actors are model-like but are acting powerful.
They, a quit good CGI and the fantastic setting make a beatiful fairytale looking great on screen.
3 1/2 Stunden (2021)
Entertaining, but that's it
A nice movie for the whole family without any aspects of historical correctness, exept the date of building the Berlin Wall.
This drama tells the hardnes of making a lifetime-decision. It could have been settled in any other story, but it shows no history, cuz all the facts (doping, open-gay pair, female train-driver and many others) are simply wrong. Without the historical basing it would be much less disturbing. Actors did a good job, colour-grading was cheesy, camera-work was okay, CGI could have been much better, sound was great.
The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021)
Entertaining, but a little too rushy
Too early to spoil a slice of content. The horror worked, some plotholes I can take , but it was too much a kind of paper chase.
When the movies 1 & 2 took their time to introduce the families, I can't find a connection to any of this 3rd movies characters.
Alita: Battle Angel (2019)
Maybe guilty pleasure for some
This movie should have been 2 hours longer to avoid it's giant plotholes.
It has great visual effects, it is thrilling, it is fast, the actirs are great. But most of the decisions aren't followable. Met the ending just headshaking. Although awaiting part 2.
You Should Have Left (2020)
Cheap and expectable
The actors are doing a good job in an easy written story without any surprises. If there were any jump-scares the movie would mayve have been horrific. At least it was just boring.
Greyhound (2020)
Too short but great potential
Knowing Hank's historical projects like "Band of Brothers" and "The Pacific" or "From earth to the moon" it's obvious, that this movie is too short for creating any characters-depths or any further scenes but being-attacked scenes. Also the movie obviously was a pure green-screen-project. It's not looking realistic. With more budget there can be a great series with depths and stories. It was not boring at all, but it's definetely and unfortunately no highlight.
3 Days to Kill (2014)
typical Besson-story under typical McG direction
Too fast cuts and an entertaining story. That still makes a fast, not boring, movie for a 'what shall we watch?'-evening.
The Lost City of Z (2016)
Great cinematic Movie
The Lost Cityof Z - great pictures combined with a realistic script result in a dark toned survival-adventure. A biopic as it needs to be. The depth of the jungle and the fear of the protagonists in it sometimes remind of Apocalypse Now. It's an undervalued motion-picture that pulls the viewer down to the desperation and fear of the movies hero.
Ad Astra (2019)
Calm told journey
In brilliant pictures told story, about a man who's losing his desperation and passion for lonelieness by comparing his life with his fathers'.
Annabelle Comes Home (2019)
Boring
It felt like the movie never started. There was no motivation for evil to achieve anything, there were no victims, there were just two shocks and most of the time we sniffle through a house with very slow camera-walks. End of the "horror". Waste of time.
Game of Thrones: The Last Watch (2019)
Compliments
As a person who was working on movie and show-sets for years I can say, that this is lovely making-of with a look at all the ones who are mostly not in first lines of the credits but also give their power and love to the momentarily project. They also have feelings, families and thoughts, that have to be shared. Thanks for this movie!
Blood Child (2017)
Interesting idea, amateur-like movie
Read the story and found it interesting. The movie introduced it's idea nicely. These are the positive things to tell. D.O.P. seldom caught good shots, dialouges and their pacing very often don't work, some actors overacted, some were flat. Director and D.O.P. need more experience and the movie needs a remake, cause of the interesting story-idea. Maybe in a few years by the same team...?!
Prodigy (2017)
Great idea suffered the acting
The idea was good, but the acting of the little girl was to stiff. It could have been an older girl or a better actress. The movie had its tense but the kid was to robotic. Guess, she needs a little more practise to be a great actor . She playes well, but unfortunately not well enough for that complex mind.
Den blomstertid nu kommer (2018)
Tense but in the end it looks like fearmongering
No doubt, it was a thrilling movie, driven by good acting and nice twists. We'll never get to know who definitely was responsible for the attacks, but last pictures seem to tell us, it was the Russians. In the end we saw a whitewashed picture with muslims and russians as suspects. That's to cheap for a movie which tries to take realistic steps, cause it's not objective. We don't get to know about motives of the attackers. We lose view on last survivors of the government. Suddenly all the attacks seem to be focused onto only one point in whole Sweden. The movie get's lost in the drama between father and son and by that it loses realism. There are great elements in the movie but the ending becomes to easy.
The Walking Dead (2010)
First 4 seasons worth watching
It started very realistic and dark but Kirkman's origin graphic novels were getting cheesy and comic-like. So does the show. Also the show lost while season 6 or 7 the good directing. Find out where! ;) Extras are just standing around and listen to the same speeches every 2nd episode, without acting. The first 4 seasons are worth watching, then you better should stop.
There is no reason for 3 Rick-movies by actual producers, although Andrew Lincoln had a good performance through the bad scripts of season 6 till 9. It seems there is no rescue through the chaotic writers room-results (even if Robert Kirkman could be involved). In Germany they talked about "Random Rick" who had no followable ways of reaction to anything that happened to his tribal crew. Somewhen the whole story lost its character-lines and this was the death of love to this once great show.
