The Iron Claw (2023)
Sad Story great actors poor director
First off all the actors were great in their roles, and really nailed it. Other reviewers already touted this movie so no reason to be redundant on the good points. Its a Good movie See it.
Now the complaints. If you are watching this movie and have NO idea who the Von Erich are or the story, then this will not help. The director fails utterly to explain anything either by showing or telling why each of the brothers die. Hell in one scene Kerry is riding a motorcycle the next he is on crutches. So you have to assume he got into some kinda accident, but its never stated or show, nor what was hurt. It is not till some 20 minutes later you figure out he hurt his foot. They never show any of the demons that haunted the brothers thoughts that led them to dying or what was going on in their lives. They also omit Chris completely (as in he doesnt exist) and though I have read the directors reasons its not acceptable, its like making Apollo 13 and leaving out one of the astronaughts. You cannot omit an entire family member that was a huge part of their live.
It seemed that the director was trying to show this from the perspective of only Kevin, and if so they he still could have done a better job explaining things. This is the highest rated movie he has ever done and it was better than most stuff being made now but could have been better. Clearly it was made only for Wrestling fans who already know the story, but you need to appeal to a wider audience.
Justice League Action: Barehanded (2018)
Doing Hal Dirty
I love this show, its a bit silly very much in the same vein as Batman the brave and the bold but even sillier, but this has gone too far. Hal Jordan was always my favorite character in the DC universe and Thus I have read his comic books extensively and know the character and this was NOT him. Hal would never remove his ring just to watch his hands and would never forget to put it back on nor would he be simping to Batman. This is more like they were trying to channel Ryan Reynods and not from the Green Lantern movie but from his sillier comedies. I know they are making this for kids but lets not make him out to be a complete moron please.
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman: Lethal Weapon (1997)
Some good some aweful
So great episode when it comes to Superman once again having problems with his powers. The story is Perry Whites son gets his hands on a piece of Red Kryptonite and uses it to give Superman some glitches where he has trouble controlling his powers. Showing Clark dealing with the thought of being unable to help people in need shows you how much he cares, and Lois is by his side helping her husband through this. Its very touchy and why I gave this an 8. But I had to take a point away for the horrible ending.
So in the last act, Mr. Gadget and his son plot to destroy Metropolis if they don't pay him 1 billion dollars! The problem with this plot is, 1) his device can only destroy one building at a time, and 2) has to be pretty close to the target for it to work. So when he threated the blow up the 'Hall of Justice' they need Perry's son and his red kryptonite to be there to stop Superman. The police, clear the building but everyone is hanging around outside the building when they set off the device and Superman lands and uses his Xray vision to find it, but Perry's son hesitates and Superman exposes the device. Meanwhile the Mayor has ordered police snipers with Green Kryptonite anumitin to be ready to shoot Superman if he "Looses control of his powers". Finally Jerry White relents when Mr. Gadget threatens to kill Perry if Jerry doesn't comply. Considering the lack of a threat Mr. Gadget is this threat is idle. But the worst offsens happens when, after Jerry opens the box, Superman looses his power. The problem I have is this: The device has now been exposed, it is CLEARLY what is causing the building to crumble, there are HUNDREDS of people standing around, and police and no one moves to take a crowbar to the device? Also neither does Superman who is just standing there trying to use his heat vision. Just some bad writing.
Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea: Day of Evil (1966)
Absolute trash
It amazes me how much we let stuff slide as children. Growing up watching this show I remembered loving it. Seeing it again as an adult its some of the hokiest stuff ever. MST3K could make a career just lampooning each episode.
That said most of the episodes with the 'monster of the week' are just silly innocent over the top fun, but this episodes, 'monter' is the worst most ill concieved enemy ever! First, the alien itself is this shapechanger that can someone (never explained) can completely mimic the target perfectly as well as memories. Where it gets stupid, is the aliens have the power to heal while at the same time their touch causes severe burns. If that is not silly enough, they also have this weird morality where they cannot KILL, yet they can command and even CONTROL the body of another to kill. Tell me how this is different than killing?
The next problem I have is how easily a nuclear missile can be deployed without any security back ups or redundancy. Next is how no one seems to be willing to get help. When the Admiral first see's the alien he could have easily called in the others and had the alien shot or at least attempted to arrest it. Throughout the episode no one ever seems to want to get help with anything. The fight scene between the Admiral and the Chief was so badly done all I could do is laugh about it, and what is up with the crew failing to believe in crazy stuff after 2 years of some of the craziest stuff they been through. It is like the writer was hired only to write this one episode and knew nothing about the show and didn't bother to find out. The last stupidity was the Admiral let the alien go without any attempt to stop them. How do you know if it won't work if you don't try it. This was a trainwreck of an episode.
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman: Battleground Earth (1996)
Did none of them read a comic?
This episode and the one before "Lord of the Flies" were a 2 parter featurning the Kryptonians. What a MESS.
First off, the continued insistance that visiting Kryptonians can instntly master all the powers of Superman when it has taken Clark a lifetime of practice just to learn to fly, is just silly. That alone doesn't ruin this episode because they do this in every show and movie so this is just one of those stupid Superman tropes.
The Writers clearly knew nothing about the Kryptonians. They seemed to make up everything about them on the spot, and came up will all this silly beaurocracy stuff. Clark had no reason to believe Zara and Ching, and he was far too gullible and trusting that they were not the lying to him and were the usurpers.
Then Lord Nor shows his hand by capturing Smallville and threatening (after killing people) the world and this is NOT evidence to the Kryptonian council that he should be labeled and outlaw and arrested? It was pretty dumb. But what made it worse was he and his felling Kryptonians were a clear and LETHAL threat, literally vaporizing people, and the show made a joke out of everything they did.
The worst part for me was when the tried Clark and found him guilty and scheduled him for DEATH! Have these people read a Superman comic? The Kryptonians don't execute prisoners they send them to the phantom zone.
Blue Bloods: Fresh Start (2016)
Hire an Advisor
My biggest complaints about this show is the fact that they have just thrown basic police procedures and even the most basic and more commenly known facts to the wind. In this episode they have an AWOL officer who is suffering from Drug addiction, and Danny and Baez get into a running argument over having him busted and kicked off the force of sending him to get help. OK first off you cannot be a drug user to get into the police department, however, once inside if you become an adict (whether its alcohol or drugs) the ADA rules demand that the user gets onto a program to over come the adiction. If you refuse to admit you have a problem and refuse the treatment you will THEN be subject to termination. So Danny's entire argument is stupid and there was also no reason to sneak around. The second issue I have is an ongoing problem where, when an officer is killed in the line of duty, the police wear a black patch across their badges out of mourning and respect. They never do this in the show.
Star Trek: The Apple (1967)
One of the BEST OG Trek
Why the Apple is one of the most imortant and Iconic Episodes. In my opinion this is one of the best well written episodes. It has everything that made TOS the best: Exploration, the discovery of a new world, new peoples, the very basis of what TREK is supposed to be about. It has a strong plot, that of surviving a planet bent on killing them. A moral story; what happens when we let machines run our lives, progress over stagnation, servatude vs freedom and love vs oppression. You have Kirk showing you how much he loves his crew and ship, how the burdon of command weights heavily upon his shoulder. How he needs both Spock and Bones for their contrasting views. It featured one of the best planetary sets that had to be built from scratch, some of the best costumes and make up seen. We establish the 'red shirt' curse by having all the security guards negated by Vaal. We get to see just how tough Spock is as he manages to shake of death TWICE! We get to to see a strong woman, Yeoman Landon, not only hold her own in a fight but manage to defeat two men with her martial arts training. We get one of the BEST lines form McCoy when he finds out the people of Vaal are forbidden from intimacy; "well so much for paradise" and in the end during the epiloge the whole scene were they liken Spock to the role of Satan from Genesis. For those who do not know, after "The Cage" pilot they wanted the Spock character removed because of his visual similarity to Satan. I absolutely love this episdoe.
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman: Oedipus Wrecks (1996)
Warm heared review
I understand the people who gave this bad votes, but many of the compaints are about things that can easily be explained. I too disliked the Doctor taking advantage of a patient but its not unfounded and its more common and lets face it, Lois Lane is a catch many people would ruin their lives over, just ask Lex. As far as Lois being weak willed, she was already naturally falling for the doctor and could have been susceptable to hypnosis because she is doing something she already wanted. Notice how quickly she got over the Doctor when her memoriy was back. His Jaw remembrs.
This was a feel good Lois and Clark story of their undying love and dedication, specially Clark's, to their love. The plot is always secondary to the romance and it was still good. The weak number 2 son, trying to earn his mothers love and approval driving him to villanous acts. Great episdoe.
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman: Super Mann (1995)
What a mess
This dumpsterfire of an episode is just so hard to swallow. People always tell you that you have to suspend disbelief when watching a fiction. The problem is you can only suspend so much. In writing classes they teach you "it is easier to accept a believable lie and an unbelievable truth" What this means is try to make your 'fiction' believable to the watcher.
This said, there are so many unbelievables in this episode, I will only pick the worst. First is the fact that the Nazi's made one silly TV broadcast and suddenly thousands of Nazi's pop up all over the world like they have been in waiting. The truth is the Nazi party exists in one form or another all over the world to this very day and yet has so little influence on people because of their doctrines of hate, that they could not get any support, so the fact that is happened so easily in this episode was just impossible to accept.
Next was the aquisition and transportation of nuclear weapons, even with Senator's helping, the Nuclear regulatory commission, intelligence, and other agencies track every piece of weapons grad plutonium and it would be very difficult to sneak just ONE inside a US city let alone dozens. It is possible with some heavy suspension of disbelief but it was not the only issue.
Lastly was the infighting among the Nazi's. When you are in the "Vast" Minority you cannot afford to just execute any one who maybe supportive to your cause. A better plot would have been for West to go to Lois and spill the beans on their plan.
The last thing was Superman getting irradiated. This one is passable to people who don't understand but when you have a Scientist at STAR labs who cannot come up with the answers and LOIS had to, that kills me. Also since Superman gets his power from absorbing solar radiation he would be IMMUNE to becoming radioactive. There is no special magic radiation that a bomb releases that the sun does not. Also since skin cells shed, all Superman would have needed to do is ditch his costume and take a decontamination shower and he would be clean.
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman: Don't Tug on Superman's Cape (1995)
Corney but good
Lois and Clark in retrospect is a much better show than I remember. When I first saw it I felt it was a bit too corney for my taste as it was the 90s and we were moving (slowly) away from 'campy' superheroes to more dramatic ones, specially with movies like the first Batman move in 89. However, what makes this show work is the very well thought out plot lines. Taking a cue from the "Adventures of Superman, they writers realized the plots would be better if Lois and Clark had to solve a mystery to find the badguys rather than have Superman constantly 'physically challeneged'. Them having to do 'detective work' makes the show much better.
This episode features a great villain duo of Jonathan Frakes and his wife Genie Francis, and they use their brains to put Superman and Lois in jeopardy. It is a great example of using clever ideas and detective work to solve the problem at hand. I love this episode more now because it also keeps the love story going without it being too overbearing like so many shows today do. Plot first, love in the background and enough action to remind you Superman is in the show.
Season 3 marks a turn to more 'campy' villians that before but it is still an excellent show and worthy of watching.
Blue Bloods: In the Box (2015)
This show is getting worse
The first season of this show hooked me. Great plots, great characters and good police action. Sure there was the typical amount of Hollywood stuff added in, like the fact that it only ever takes ONE police officer to Cuff a perp because after they get caught they just fold up like a folding chair and let people cuff them (this never happens), or the fact that perps always surrender when a cop says FREEZE! That is very Hollywood and very fake, but the good plots and characters made it interesting.
However, it seems that after the first season the fired their Police expert and just started to do what ever they want. The plots are stupid and unrealistic, the criminals get away with stuff because of total police incompetence, and the story is SO character centric that only DANNY can save the day!!
In this episdoe they let an ARMED man into a Police station (never happen, they would have to go through a metal detector) and he holds Baez hostage in an interogation room. First problem is NO ONE notices when he pulls the gun, only Danny (see above complaint). Then they say the interrogation room windows are bulletproof!!!! WHAT!! WhY!!!! That stuff is so expensive and with limited Police budgets they would not do that even if there WAS a good reason, which there is NO good reason, except for PLOT. Next a Professional negotiator would be brought in, but wait, we have SUPER DANNY who can do it all. The entire incident is ONLY resolved when Super Danny charges into the room when Baez makes a move to wrestle the gun from the perp. NONE Of the other 20 cops do anything to help!!!!
You dont have to be an ex-cop to know this is just stupid.
Blood Machines (2019)
Visually stunning junk
This is what happens when you try to make a movie out of a music video. The whole thing makes as much sense as an 80s Music Video with all the amazing scenery and music you would expect, and the nonsensical plotline of an acid trip. What makes me sad is the visuals and special effects are so amazing if they could just have teamed up with one of the hundreds of B-movie Science fictions which actually have a descent plot but no budget to make a good movie, we could have something.
As other reviewers have said, don't try to understand the show, just take it in as a long music video, though I found myself fast forwarding through some of the moronic dialogue which has absolutely no bearing on what is going on and only adds to the confusion of this drug induced plotline only someone high could ever make heads of tails of.
Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman: Witness (1994)
Poor Writing
I LOVED this show when it first aired, and I am enjoying it EVEN MORE watching it a 2nd time, but I have to review this episode and call it out for its HORRIBLE writing. TWICE Clark had a chance to stop the 'assasin' and could have EASILY done it without giving up that he was Superman but he let the guy go.
So the plot is this master of disguise assasin was hired to kill someone, and Lois was witness. So first off, the assasin was in disguise so Lois could not identify him. His TRUE face was never seen by Lois yet for (poor writing) reasons, he felt she COULD identify him, even though he never removed his make up.
Then he tries to off Lois by disguissing himself as a cripple in a wheelchair and tried to gun Lois and Clark down in the middlel of the street. Though only a few feet away from them, after Superman (as Clark) catches all the bullets, he 'blinks' and suddenly the assasin (who has no powers) vanishes. Clark, in spite of super vision cannot find him. OK FINE, flimsy as heck but maaaaybe.
Second attemp on Lois he disguises himself as Lois's superintendant and enters her appartment to gun her down, Lois defends herself as well as she can but he manages to get the better of her but has lost his gun and decided to strangle her. Enter Clark who, threatens him. He then runs away (through the door Clark entred) and (even though Lois was choaked unconscious) Clark lets him go when he could have easily knocked him out then go to help Lois in the same amount of time it would have taken anyway. But NO, he gets away again.
Superman finally gets the bad guy but the writing could have been a little better in those two spots.
Blue Bloods: Partners (2014)
The show continues to spiral down
Not going to spoil the episode, everthing I will talk about happened before the credits. I will double down on another reviewer. The scene with the crazed man was just stupid. Does this show even have a police adviser? They used to, but they clearly are ignoring them. Police would only use a taser on an armed perp, they would have tried to take him down physically. Also the vehicle coming out of no where is impossible as the cops also would have blocked off traffic and stopped it going both ways.
The other incident involved officer Janko, who is 5 foot 4 and maybe 100 pounds soaking wet, trying to handle a 160+ pound angry muscle bound man. If anyone has seen even TWO police body cam videos (I have seen thousands) they would tell you even a 200 pound officer would have a hard time subduing a perp of any size and strength!!! If you think you can do it alone you are watching WAY too much TV. The very IDEA that Janko felt she could handle him alone is pure Hollywood fantasy. You will NEVER find a cop of any sice or strength that would refuse help in taking down a perp.
This show used to be pretty good in its portrayal of police work but it has jumped the Shark.
Rebel Moon - Part One: A Child of Fire (2023)
Seen this movie too many times
I finally saw it last night, and I can safely say it was a much better movie than "Jupiter Ascending". So was it good, it was because there was no 'forced messaging' was it bad, no, there are far worse crap out there (I am looking at you sequal trillogy) The biggest problem is, there was ZERO originality in any thing in this show. You can CLEARLY see all the Star Wars characters and zero effort was made to divulge the plot lines, they just changed the names and costumes. The plot is stolen right out of Bugs Life/7 Samuri/Magnificent 7 etc. The problem is, they would have to be all superhuman to pull this off. It would be like if Obiwon and Anakin singlehandedly took down the Seperatists.
Now lets talk about the costumes. They were horrible and took me out of the immersion. It felt more like I was watching a documentary on the British occupation of Ireland than a science fiction. The native clothing was too familiar even Firefly managed to do better on a limited budget and they are actual humans whose history is closer to ours than in Rebel Moon. However far in the future this is from humanity (or a long long time ago) they dressed like 19th century Irish. The imperial uniforms were better but also very reminiscent of 20th century Huns.
I don't mind the buildings and structures looking familiar because let's be honest, a good design is a good design anywhere you live. The only difference is style, and they probably should have put some effort into making the buildings 'style' more alien and less Viking settlement.
Again it wasn't horrible but I predicted virtually everything that happened, there were no surprises (AT ALL) so it was like playing a game when you know all the answers or playing a video game on Godmode. It was just boring.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves: Part VIII (2023)
The perfect ending
The perfect and well written ending to an epic story. Bass Reeves had over 3000 arrests so they could go on and on for a decade making episodes but if this is going to be the final one, it ties things up nicely.
Bass was one of the most clever Marshalls, who used disguises and fake names to hunt down and arrest wanted criminals and his cleverness is shown in this epiosde. Sorry no spoilers. The episode also deals with so many subjects that were going on during the post civil war era, of which was the black family finding their place in society, struggle against racism and bigotry and just the growing pains of America.
Amazing acting performances from every one on this show. Hope they make more but if this is the last one, I am satisfied.
Monarch: Legacy of Monsters: The Way Out (2023)
WHO CARES!!!!
So the writers of this show have taken a hard left turn and have decided that the Randa families love affairs are more important than the Titans or even Monarch. This episode focuses on Cate reliving the 2014 attacks but goes off on tangents that have nothing to do with Monarch or the Titans and have no impact on the over all story, while completely ignoring what has happened to Monarch and Lee Shaw, who gets two minutes in the show. I have no idea what the writers were thinking but they just waisted everyones time for 5 minutes of actualy plot advancement. NO ONE CARES about things that have nothing to do with the plot.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves: Part II (2023)
Slow but steady
While this episode moves a little slower, it doesn't cover 10 years of his life like the first episode. I am learning a lot about Reeves than I never knew, like the fact that he lived on a reservation after he fled slavery and learned Creek Indian. That second part comes into play in this episode as he has to go after his first wanted man. You get to meet his mentor and see what kind of a man Reeves really is. A man of conviction and strong beliefs especially that of justice. Obviously all of this came from his background and what his life experience was like but rather than become a bitter man he tries to become a better man. This is a great struggle for him, and for any man, but it shows you the conviction and goodness of his heart.
I'm not a person who likes to read subtitles, because I'm dyslexic and I can't beat that fast, but the addition of the Creek Indian discussion with the subtitles was paste well enough that it was easy to follow and I didn't have to pause the video. But inevitably it lends some realism to the show.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves: Part 1 (2023)
Good start
I am glad to see them finally do a story about one of the most unsung Lawmen of the old West. There is enough ambiguity about his life to allow for plenty of storytelling to make the show more exciting and interesting. The truth is, the Wild West was not so wild as Hollywood portrays, but there are some great stories.
Bass Reeves was one of the smartests most successful lawmen to meet justice in the old west and its nice for them to finally tell the story so others can enjoy it. I will not drop any spoilers but I will just say they kept to his origin story as closely as possible while making it maybe a bit more exciting than it was. The choices of actors in this show is brilliant and David Oyelowo shows his acting chops with a wide range of emotions. Top notch.
Lets hope this show remains excellent.
Blue Eye Samurai: The Great Fire of 1657 (2023)
WTF!!!! you were doing so well!
7 Episodes (go see what I rated them) 8s and 9s. They seemed to have a solid grasp on Japanese life and culture of the period and while they took some liberties with dialogue for us westerners, it was pretty solid till the end.
First, this was the Season finaly and while they did close ONE plot line (the overthrowing of the Shogun) it was such a small subplot that it had zero impact on us viewers. You never know if you are going to get a 2nd season, even if they say you are, so I always prefered it when Shows would end a season on a High note. I also figured, with her hunting 4 people they would do one per season, and she could have closure with each but NOOOO.
So the season ends with thise wessel worming his way out of a death sentense at the hands of Mizo, and gets a trip off of Japan to London. This is where I have serious problems. There is NO way the Samuri let this man live, let alone Leave the country after his coup attemp and murdering the Shogun with no honor. She is not going to be able to sneak him out and she is 'frankly' too small and weak to Force him onto a boat without help so I am just not buying the end of this story. This is why they had to just show him already on the ship to London because if they tried to explain HOW she sneaks him out, no one would believe it. Also nothing good happenes for ANY of the other protagonists, they are all in just as bad or worse of a situation then when they started, so this was a completely unhappy ending for everyone.
Blue Bloods: To Protect and Serve (2013)
this is why I don't watch Cop show
I know its Hollywood and they have to sanitize everything for TV, and they also have to dramatize things, but they end up showing most police departments as incompetent idiots and the main characters always have to be the "heroes" and most competent.
First off violent criminals are always cuffed when they are in court and if there was somehow an incident where a defendant overpowered a bailliff, there are usually a number of armed bailiffs or officers that would have shot this guy dead before he could take hostages. Second, assuming he could gain control of the courtroom, he is one man with a single firearm. SWAT would have been mobilized and they would have breached the court, tossed in a flashbang and taking him down. Lastly, assuming no one approved SWAT breaching, they would have had a sniper outside when he was making his getaway and they would have taken him down.
Since I am on this rant, the show continues to show THEE most submissive criminals you will ever find. Soon as even the smallest and weakest police officer catches a fleeing felon they fall limply to the ground and allow themselves to be handcuffed. This NEVER HAPPENS LIKE THIS. They always resist and it usually takes 3 or more officers to subdue them. Anyone who thinks otherwise has never tried to handcuff anyone who doesn't want to be cuffed, it is NOT easy.
Blue Bloods: Family Business (2012)
Not so good
First off, this is one of the rare cop shows that are very good and treat police procedures well. That said, they do many things for reasons of Hollywood drama that would never happen in the real day of a police officer. For example perps pretty much going limp and allowing themselves to be cuffed, its never that easy but if they showed realistic cuffing it would take half the episode. The other thing is they have this habbit of being too nice and giving criminals more of a chance to surrender than in real life. I am pretty sure that is what we would ALL like to happen, but I bring it up because I usually let this stuff slide for the reasons I mentioned.
But this episode was too much. There were too many chances for Danny to stop Walker. First, since Danny was wired, the cops could have found Walker sitting in the cab. Danny could have also tossed the bomb into the River soon as he took it off his partner. If not then even at the end when he is digging his grave and the SWAT team arrives, they 'realistically' would have given Walker ONE second to drop the gun, he was actively threatening another with a firearm they would have shot him long before Danny had to hit him with a shovel.
Gamera: Rebirth (2023)
Gamera's Back???
First off, I have been a Gamora fan since I was a child, as the movies were targeted towards younger kids. As I got older I saw how silly they were but they were still fun to watch if you didn't take them too seriously. Gamera was kept alive thanks to the efforts of Mystery Science Theatre 3000, until the triumphant return in 1995 which featured some of the absolute BEST man-in-suit Special effects in any Kaiju movie to date. This new Gamera was more edgy and hardcore and violent, which gave it a broader appeal to older age groups, specially this one. The 3 90s movies were so good I wanted more, but bancrupcy and other issuse plagued the studio and Gamera was done.
When I heard about the rebirth project I was at first excited but then concerned that it was going to be made an anime like Godzilla Earth. This neuvo-animation style seems to have become popular but like 'lens flare' and 'shaky cam' I hope its just a passing fad because it is not as good as traditional animation and frankly the kind of effort and work they put into it, they may as well go live action and enhance the CGI, its just a cheap way out.
As far as the plot, this is the first time I have ever seeen in ANY Japanese movie, the involvement of the American forces embedded in Japan. It always seemed like it was all up to the Japanese alone to defend their island when the very presence of the American forces was to aid in the islands defense. This would have been a new and unique take on Kaiju movies if they didn't make the Americans a bunch of racist incompetent jerks. Why can't we just tell a story and let the Kaiju be the bad guys for a change?
Ahsoka: Part Four: Fallen Jedi (2023)
The Power of PLOT prevails
One of the things I always complained about Dave Feloni was that the power of plot had the ability to neutrilize the force and technology. Case in point in an episode of Clone Wars, Anakin didn't have his light sabre and seemed to forget how to use the force throughout that episode till he got it back.
Ahsoka lands in the middle of hostile territoriy and doesn't bother to set up any passive systems to alert her to enemies closing on the ship. Sure they don't want to use active radar and such to broadcast their position but there are other things you can do, like trip wires attached to cans FFS. At least use the force to sense incoming trouble. Guess Ahsoka is not that good.
Hela decides to bring her only child with her on a dangerous mission, great parenting.
Otherwise the duels are fine, the plot is still stupid, and not much is acomplished in another episode. They really have forgot how to make shows.
Star Trek: Lower Decks: We'll Always Have Tom Paris (2021)
High hopes for season 2
The initial problems I have with this show is, it's is making fun OF Trek Tropes rather than putting the characters in situations that are funny. This seemed to course correct by the end of the 1st season so I continued to watch.
My second problem is that everyone on the ship acts the fool and totally not something you would ever see in Star Trek. Why can't the command crew be the 'serious' ones. Many of the Greatest commedy teams and show of all time always featured the one (or 2) characters that played it 'straight and serious' and the lower deck characters could play the fools. There is no need to make everyone the fool as the comedy doesn't land as well.
I feel so many 'fans' are taken in by the tons of Fanservice throw at them in the form of references to the older shows. This creates that feeling of nostalgia that causes fans to feel warm and funny for the show, but its a smoke scream for just silly missbehaving horrible characters who should have been courtmartialed years ago.
Finally a note on this particular episode, which actually was not bad for a change, was the return of Shaxs. This is supposed to be a trope on bridge crew dying and mysteriously returning without explaination, but THIS HAS NEVER HAPPENED IN STAR TREK!
