Riverdale: Chapter One Hundred Eighteen: Don't Worry Darling (2023)
Where has this writing been for the last 2 seasons?
I normally don't write reviews and I definitely don't write reviews for episodes, but this is the exception for me. I've been watching Riverdale since the start. I highly enjoyed the first few seasons no matter how cheesy they were but the last season and a half really took a turn. I was still watching it and finding some enjoyment out of them but it wasn't the same. The writing really took a turn after the show returned from shutdown. This doesn't even feel like the same show anymore and that's a good thing. This first episode really feels like a reset and it works. Let's just hope the rest of this final season continues down this path and the writers don't return to settling for mediocrity.
The Lego Star Wars Holiday Special (2020)
Fun little Star Wars special for the whole family
This is a short 44 minute special about the sequel trilogy gang celebrating Life Day while Rey is teaching Finn how to be Jedi. Rey gets frustrated with her teachings and decides to leave and go seek guidance from former Jedi's with time travel. While doing this she messes up a lot of stuff and creates a fun little adventure that also has a little Christmas carol feel.
Adventures of Captain Marvel (1941)
The Original Captain Marvel
The Adventures of Captain Marvel was the first live action adaptation of a comic book superhero and it was marvelous. The special effects were way ahead of their times and a lot of them look better than what was used in Superman 78. The multiple camera angles were also something not done in movie serials. The acting for the most part were really well done.
Solo: A Star Wars Story (2018)
Wasn't expecting to enjoy this movie.
I grew up watching Star Wars. I owned every movie and watched them all over a dozen times, but ever since Disney has purchased the franchise my love for Star Wars has died a lot. Rogue One was mediocre and The Last Jedi is utter garbage, so I wasn't expecting this to be any better.
I walked into the theater not really expecting to like Ehrenreich as Han, but honestly he was the standout actor. He had enough Han mannerisms to make me believe I was actually watching a young Han.
The major negative I have with this film is that it's a prequel. By that I mean, no matter the situation, you never feel scared for the 2 main characters of Han and Chewy and that takes you out a bit because you know their fate already.
All in all, if Disney decided to use this cast, with director Ron Howard, I would watch a whole trilogy about young Han. This movie might have single handily restored my faith in Star Wars.
