Silo (2023)
So dark and I mean DARK
So dark, and I don't mean the plot lines. So many movies being made are like this now. What the heck? I know this is supposed to be a "dark dystopian" series but I can hardly make out some of the scenes. I've seen other series like this. Are the sets not really complete or not well done? Do they keep it dark so won't notice how bad the sets are? I've watched 2 episodes and will continue with it for awhile to see where it goes, but I'm getting very annoyed by this new way of making movies. I realize the mood they are trying to convey but it's way overdone.
Please movies makers, stop this nonsense!
Dear Edward (2023)
Good acting
I like the acting, although Edward doesn't have too many expressions. The characters are good but there are too many of them. The plot moves along pretty well.
But what no one else has mentioned is why is it so DARK? I can can hardly see some of the scenes. This seems to be a thing in some movies or episodic shows. Especially night scenes. Put some light on these shows!!!
Some of the characters have odd interactions with each other. They don't listen.and they interrupt a lot. But many shows are like this. And don't get me started about the music. Too much!
It was hard for me to believe that Edward spent his nights in the house next door with Zoe. And no one thought that was strange? They could ignore it because he was healing or felt better there? He seemed to have a pretty independent life for a young kid.
Christmas in the Wild (2019)
Nice little movie with a message
Ok, it was a little cheesy, as someone said, but I liked it. I liked the actors, the scenery, the animals, and the message about elephant conservation. People love to pick apart movies but you can just sit back and enjoy it for what it is. It was never meant to be an award winner. It's just a pleasant film to watch at Christmas or anytime.
The Mandalorian (2019)
Has any mentioned how DARK everything is?
I finished the 3rd episode and every single scene is dark. It's hard to figure out who is who. I think this is a show for diehard Star Wars fans so no wonder there are so many 10's. It's definitely action packed. Baby Yoda IS cute. I have to agree with one reviewer that there is no charisma in any of the characters.
I don't hate this show, I just feel it lacks any emotion. I actually didn't mind the 30 minute episodes because I didn't plan to binge watch anyway. 30 minutes at a time was enough for me. The characters are unique, just like in Star Wars, so that was fun. Watch if you are a big fan but otherwise you might watch a couple of episodes and then drop it.
Absentia (2017)
So many unbelievable situations
There are so many situations that Emily gets into that I can't believe she survives most of them. She is punched, thrown, hit, shot, almost drowned, stabbed, knocked unconscious. Then it isn't too long before she's up and running around again. Plus she has severe emotional problems. The show is very dark. And I mean DARK. So many scenes are so dark that you can't tell what's going on. She looks messy most of the time. The scenes that are supposed to be.in Moldova are ridiculous. That whole part could have been left out. The acting is good but this series could have been just two seasons.
Just try to go with it as best you can.
