The Batman (2022)
too dark, too long, too pointless
As I'm writing this, the last szenes of this movie are still running and will and it will just not end.
One pointless end-scene after the other.
I really like the Batman movies before. This were good, well made action movies.
But this new Batman 2022 wants to be everything just to hide it is nothings.
Batman stumbles from one overly dark scene to the next overly dark scene. It is full with evrything has to offer:
The Riddler, The Pinguin, Cat-woman, Wayne-Family-Things, Falcony, currept polive men, in the end even the joker... (I was just waiting for Robin showing up)... and all to hide that this movie behind all its rainy darkness is just empty. There is no real plot. Everythings seem unconnected and Batman just misplaced.
Monotone Music, Monotone pictures, no Mimic in the faces. For me a pointless movie. I was waiting for it to be over and ist just didn't want to end.
Everyone is F*cking Crazy (2023)
Worth watching!
What is the show about?
Four teenagers decide to continue their therapy as group therapy after their therapist died by falling out of a window.
For a German production, everything feels fresh and creative.
The script and actors are very commited. There are many higlights and also some down sides (especially when everything feels a bit to costructed). Some scenes could be connected a bit better.
But all throught out season 1 it keeps very enternaining and well past.
Especially with the cliff hanger and the end of season 1, I hope it will be continued because of the interesting characters and theier actors.
The Last Kingdom (2015)
Maybe the best series of this kind ?
A few years ago, I read almost all the books of the Uhtred-Saga. Bernard Cornwell did a real good job with this books. He knows, how to connect historical-backround with an exiting story and interesting characters.
The Series, is a little bit different compared to the book. The plot was changed a bit, some of the characters were a bit changed. In the book, everyhing seemed 'larger', because a movie can not focus on so much backround and many different characters like a book can do.
Still 'the last kingdom' is one of the best, if not the best series of this kind. Of course it has to stand against 'Vikings' and 'game of thrones'.
I liked the first seasons of GOT, but after a while the story was to boring ans dialog driven for me. For me GOT was good, but clearly overhyped.
Than I found Vikings (long before the big streaming servis featured it on their main page). The world and characterss felt more real, their was more action and just more going on. Would be almost the perfect vikings series, if there was not 'Last Kingdom'.
Last Kingdom and Vikings have many things in commen, but also some differences. Last Kingdom feels 'smarter' to me, where Viking is more 'raw'. I like both, but I think LK is a bit better and gets better with avery season.
Maybe one last point: many modern series, have only arse-chracters. And if there is a good character, it will turn sometime into an arse or will die. People seem to like this, but for its a stopper.
Last Kindom likes its Characters, like Cornwell did, and this is, why i like to watch it.
Warcraft (2016)
Really not that bad
Did not exspect too much.
But for my own surprise, this movie was quite entertaining for me.
The story is fast paste. The characters are interesting. And Travis Fimmel and the rest do a good job for only green-room-acting.
It even felt, that especially Travis Fimmel had some possibilities to improvise. First I thought: This guy ries to act like Ragna until I regognized it was the same actor.
Sure, its far away from a really good movie. But its a light, enternaining one.
I was even a bit disappointed when I found out, that the planned triology was not continued. For this, the end of the movie is a bit disappointing.
Schattengrund (2018)
A lot of drama for no story
Dark coloured video filters.
Enternal Foreshadowing soundtrack.
Josefine Preuß acting like in a teenie-horro movie.
All trying to hide, that the story is quite flat.
It seems that the will was there to make a good movie. But somehow it did not work out.
And the connection to the Harz Mountains was completly missing.
25 km/h (2018)
Could have been more
I had great expectation watching this movie since Bjarne Mädel and Lars Eidinger are two of my favorite actors.
And yes, it was nice and quite entertaining to watch.
But somehow also a little flat and incoherent.
Also the two main actors played nice, I somehow did not believe they were two brothers from the 'Schwarzwald'.
American Sniper (2014)
Stop glorifying war and weapons
The USA has a problem of glorifying violence, weapons and killing.
This movie might be crafted well, but the story is wrong.
There is no good reason to kill other human.
Detectorists (2014)
If something deserve a 10 out of 10, it is this show.
If something deserve a 10 out of 10, it is this show.
No action.
No false romance.
(Almost) no Villains.
Just a good stoty. Funny Dialogs. Good acting. Good written Characters.
The perfect show for times likes this.
Dunkelstadt (2020)
Dunkelstadt
So, it is an German TV production, which takes place in a 'Dark Down' (it was actually filmed in Antwerp) ... but it is not so dark. at least not from the pictures.
What I did not like so much:
The Stories were quite simple and did not have much 'inner logic'... and somehow the consequences were missing. They were followoing the same stracture every episode.
What I liked:
The main Actress and her side kick were fun to watch!
So, its ok to watch it sometime in between.
Skammerens datter (2015)
European Fantasy with depth
Just watched this movie by chance:
I expected another light Fantasy movie with no depth.
I was quite wrong.
The movie has its real own story (based on book, as i got to know), is fast paced, quiet dark and engaging.
Overall very well done. Very nice setting and good actors.
So, only thing I wonder, why this movie is quite underrated here at imdb.
I guess it has a problem to get to the right audience:
Many might just want to see another flat american-style fantasy movie:
They will be swamped and disappointed.
For children (<12) this movie might be to dark and rough.
For older audience, who like dark fantasy, there might be to much moral and it might be to fariytale-like.
So, if you like a good, dark fantasy story without blood, but with some moral and heart, this movie is for you!
Gisaengchung (2019)
Good, but really a masterpiece?
For shure it's a good movie.
The production is great ( visual, audio, cut).
But the story started great and end up a little flat.
Also the critic about capitalism could be sharper.
