La casa de papel (2017)
Best series in the history of Spanish series
This show deserves every possible award it could get. The original storyline, the masterplan behind every move and character is simply out of this world. As I was unfamiliar with Spanish actors, I had no idea what to expect but man oh man was I blown away by the performances. This show is one of the few that kept me on the edge of my seat for every season. You can tell that this show originally ended with season 2 before getting picked up by Netflix, but season 3 continues the story without that being too obvious or
annoying, since you'll just want more. This series ended the same as Friends did: at its peak. The stort was told, there were no unnessary storylines added so all in all you're in for one hell of a ride when you start this series.
Élite (2018)
Will forever be entertaining
With a really strong first season my expectations for this show were really high. I think casting two popular actors from La Casa de Papel was a clever way to get people to watch this show, but the storyline is what kept everyone dying for more. Sure the first three seasons were the best ones, but somehow this show stayed entertaining with new actors being added. It's a perfect mix of the rich and wealthy, struggling with addiction or mental problems. Throw a bit of murder in the bowl and you'll find yourself an interesting high school drama. Even though a lot of people feel like this show needed to be cancelled a long time ago, I think this could easily go on for another 5 seasons without getting boring.
Knokke Off (2023)
Elite meets Outer Banks
Throw Elite and Outer Banks in a bowl, mix it together and then you'll have Knokke Off. It's a surprisingly good show and the actors are way better than I had expected. It's the perfect summer show where sex, drugs and murder are the main subjects resulting in an interesting and entertaining story. It does have quite some things that are similar to the first season of the Spanish Netflix show Elite but not in a way that it's too obvious. I actually thought it was a clever way to base a new show off of such a massive success such as Elite, without it being a knock off (pun intended). Definitely looking forward to a possible season 2!
