Chicago (2002)
A musical for whom dislikes musicals...
I actually was not expecting such a nice movie even it's Oscars. I am totally amazed by the tremendous performance of Catherine Zeta Jones. All the scenes of her, made this movie a masterpiece. Richard Gere was also great, just Renee disappointed me a little. Not her performance but the character was not appropriate to her, I wish someone else had played her role. I liked most the dance scene in jail at Renee's first night which everyone explains their reason for being there and the one which Richard Gere plays Renee as a puppet. I strongly recommend this movie to everyone, even the ones who doesn't like musicals because this movie could change your ideas. I'm not a musical fan but enjoyed it a lot. 8 out of 10 from me.
The Ring Two (2005)
Horror continues with a remarkable performance of the little star David Dorfman ...
After having solved all the mystery in the first movie, I was wondering what this second one will offer except new murders. As I really liked the first movie, I was dubious about this second one but I got more than I expected. A logical reason that why she is back and the remarkable performance by the little star David Dorfman of the movie made this film great for me. Especially, his gestures on the sandwich eating scene was so great.
If you watched the first, I know you can't stop yourself watching this second one but also you don't have to. A satisfying continue of the first movie 8/10.
Don't Say a Word (2001)
Astonishing performance by Brittany, and Famke's beauty makes it must see!!!
Even the story was exciting itself, it was Brittany's performance and Famke's beauty that make me like the film. Douglas also performs well but the ending was too simple for the story. It shouldn't be that easy for Douglas to get rid off bad guys. Except the ending, it is a nice movie and I give 7/10. But, if you are a Famke fan like me then it is definitely a must see movie, because I've never seen her this much beautiful, she is so charming !!!
Die Another Day (2002)
Big American Help!
As a big Bond and Brosnan fan, it is always enjoying for me to watch a bond movie. A cool character, played by a cool actor. Just like the previous bond movies, you can find exaggerated scenes which bond gets rid near death situations. If you accepted bond as it is, so it shouldn't be a big surprise for you. On the other hand, we see lots of changes in this latest bond movie. Especially, the camera movements as in Matrix and also lots of others that you will notice while watching. What has made a big disappointment in me was the American aid to Mr. Bond. The jinx character played by Halle Berry, is just like a partner to Bond and helps him. We used to see Bond girls that are beautiful but not that much active on the killing of bad guys. At most, they were just pushing a button and were never send to mission with Bond. They were there because they were with Bond. This time, Bond sent to a mission with a NSA agent and got American help.
After all, Bond is changing in this first millennium episode, but it is not acceptable for me to see Bond getting help from Americans. Come on, there are lots of American agents saving the world, just leave Bond alone. As a result, Brosnan's not best Bond movie and because of changes and especially the American help my vote is 7/10.
Hababam Sinifi Tatilde (1978)
One Big Classic
One of the Hababam Sinifi series, and as great as others. Even these series shot in late 70s, they are still popular and having rating records in Turkey. Most people criticize these series for the language it has, and the language has partially censored on t.v.'s which makes the movies like a peacock with one color. The most amusing part is censored.
For the ones who are non-Turkish, it may seem like a stupid serie but you should watch it in original sound, undertitled so you can get the amusing dialogs and facial expressions better. Especially, Saban character should be watched with his original voice to get entertained.
Lastly, this series is shot in late 70s and all episodes are really nice and will be watched again and again. Thanks a lot the whole cast and director that they have shot this serie which became a classic in Turkey. Special thanks to Kemal Sunal (Saban in the movie) and GOD take care of him, you took him early so he has to be special for you too.
Yesil Isik (2002)
waste of time, unless...
This movie is a big disappoint for me. Even the great stars, it's been a big torture for me to wait till the end. I think, the director wanted to make a fairy movie with some effects and fairy dialogues, but definitely not successful. It's a waste of time unless you are really romantic drama lover and be able to watch any kind of romantic drama story. I do not recommend this film to anyone, especially to non-Turkish people.
Her Sey Çok Güzel Olacak (1998)
The best Turkish comedy film so far
It's definitely the best Turkish comedy made ever. As there are lots of drama's made in Turkey, it is so nice to see comedy that makes everyone laugh till tears come from eyes. The problem about the movie, is not everyone would be able to understand all jokes. If you are a not a Turk and especially do not know anything about Cem Yilmaz (the actor), then it would even seem silly to you. The Turkey's best comedian ever Cem Yilmaz's one man show. He is just awesome that it is so surprising that Mazhar Alanson has been able to adopt him , and not pressed under the Yilmaz's wonderful performance. Alanson, who is a singer, is also starred in some other films, which were disappointments, performed well enough to made the film best Turkish comedy made ever. Thanks to both actors for shooting such a nice movie. If you wonder about Turkey and see how the middle-class life in Turkey in a funny way you should watch this film. I don't know, if some of the jokes would loose their meanings in English or some other language but I'm sure it would make you laugh even only with Cem Yilmaz's own acting.
Sweet November (2001)
Best Romantic Film Ever Made
I've seen lots of romantic films which are all the same. Here is a different one with a greater scnerio and acting. This film is the one that made me a big Charlize fan. Her beauty with her wonderful acting makes it hard to not to fall in love with her. I don't care the ones who criticizes the film. I got one thing to say them; You just don't like romantic films or you like the ones that are all the same and stupid, ending like "They lived happily ever after". I definately put this film some other category with it's wonderfully realistic ending. I love you Charlize...
