Silo (2023)
Intriguing and captivating detective story
Silo is telling a story about a bunch of people living in a bunker under the ground, with no memory of the history. The settings suggests that it was a nuclear disaster and now outside is not livable. But as the story develops it becomes obvious that inside the bunker society there is some conspiracy plot - the totalitarian ideology inside, built to preserve order and guarantees the survival of the community is built on lies. All who tries to solve it dies from mysterious reasons. The laws prohibit any items from before and artificially limit opportunities to develop and progress. The story pulls off with a couple failing to make a baby and eventually questioning the natural reasons and assuming an evil plot. Season 1 leaves us with more questions than answers, but it is a very intriguing and captivating detective story in a science fiction setting. Love it!
Forever-Forever (2023)
Harsh story about harsh times
It is a very nice film, I applause to the film director and operator - the story, the picture, everything is very high quality and it keeps the thrill through the entire story.
It is a school and life drama about kids, who were left for themselves in a world full of chaos and uncertainty, and poverty. Adults are busy with making a living, or just enduring the uncertainty of the future after Soviet Union collapsed, they simply are not there for the kids. While the amount of cruelty and violence on the raise, starting with schools - you are the part of a tribe, or you are a goner. Kids learn how to live in a bad way making a lot of wrong choices.
So much trauma, this film reveals a lot about the generation.
Along for the Ride (2022)
A very decent story
I was surprised, that it is not just some another teens drama. The emotional maturity of this film is so much above the average. Instead of usual over dramatic teens this piece shows us mature individuals who are capable not only to understand the emotion of the other, but deal with their own shit with a minor push from mates.
It might be a bit idealistic for teens, although one of the characters is 20, this is what I want to see in modern generation youth.
I really enjoyed the film and it's a sip of fresh air in the chaos in films about infantile and egoistic characters, the whole drama of which is realizing that other people also have feelings.
Totally recommend and love to see films being more like this one. Actors are really good, fit their characters so nice, believed in every scene. Almost ;)
Nosorih (2021)
Existential crisis in a movie
It's a very atmospheric movie of great quality. The time of Ukraine history after USSR, when people didn't know what to do. It is strong, harsh, but realistic and depressing movie. But it shows what we've gone through - it's all have taken place. And this scares the most. There is no romance about a bandit life, but it will make you feel something.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
Very childish, but could be fun
To be honest, it's more of a disappointment. The film itself is almost for kids - jokes, funny character, the base of a plot is a joke. Not to mention this version of Spider-Man is quite dull - Tom is a nice guy, but I used to know Spider-Man as a very smart lad. But doctor Strange is like he was replaced for this film - his actions are irresponsible and stupid.
On the contrary, it's still can be fun, even though marvel repeats itself all the time. Seeing familiar faces and hearing familiar phrases did touch a free strings. Also the ending creates hope that we will meet the Spider-Man we deserve in the next series.
Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga (2020)
Mocking Euro - Not Bad
If you are familiar with the contest - you would laugh from time to time. But be prepared - they are mocking everyone. And yes, it is still a stupid comedy - it is a rough parody, but it is pretty nice characters there. I really loved how they tried to express the core of the nations participants types in a comic way, of course.
I don't think this film will suit to those who don't follow Eurovision contest, so it is kind of narrowing it's target audience, but still, totally worth my time.
