Marie Antoinette (2006)
Yankee Idiots
First 25 minutes. Nothing happens.
Can she speak French before coming to France? We don't know.
What kind of personality does she have? We don't know.
Film says nothing about the history. Film says nothing about reality.
French people have Yankee mimics and dialect. What kind of comedy is this? Film is English. Why? Novel is about France, not USA.
Terrible Kirsten. Awful acting.
This is a real 'kitsch' film.
How did they give the prizes? God knows.
How did they take the prizes? This is absurd.
These are real Yankee idiots.
Apocalypto (2006)
A New Kind of Film
I am sure that Mel Gibson has not wanted to do it , but it is there.
It stills there.
In this film there is: An 'avant-garde' story, very very unexpected story: You have little worlds. You make little wars.
And then suddenly a new big war comes and exterminates you. All your forest. All your world. Even all your Universe.
This is true for Korea, Vietnam, and Iraq.
And than you see: A new and different future.
Of course, a new and a different war.
Am I clear?
Batoru rowaiaru II: Chinkonka (2003)
A Real Political Metaphor
Littles versus bigs.
Little countries versus big countries.
(And there is a film titled 'Versus' indeed.) The littles unite when they learn that they don't have even chains.
War is the only way to stop massacre in the slaughterhouse of the biggests.
To survive is the only way to the tomorrow.
Metaphor of metaphor: Father director begins, son director finishes the movie after his death: "Don't forget me", he cries in the film and may be in the last days of his real life.
Different camera movements and time slices. A more real war atmosphere than 'Saving Private Ryan'.
I wonder BR III: USA killed more than 8 millions of civilians. And then littles killed more than 16 millions Yankies in the BR III. A real war atmosphere than 'The Day After'.

Untold under the Sun
3 axioms:
1. Cinema in its history has a special moment during the 'past 5 plus next 5 years' decade. Genre-art film and feature-documentary film categorization confuses and brings us hybrid products. In these circumstances experimental way may give best results. 2. Korea is a passage between China and Japan. Far East Asia Metaphysics culturally followed the same way. Today there is a new moment. War choreographed and kitsch accepted movies of Japan and China is recomposed by Korea. This is an experimental way. 3. Directors (genre or auteur) may not have historical consciousness (Hegelian indifference), ie may not know what they do.
3 interpretations:
1. Tango is firstly used in a kung-fu film, but not in butoh (Japanese modern dance). Tango is a novum element as music, as action, and as thought. It strangely conjugates with Far East Asia Metaphysics of body (ie war, sex, cure, pray, and dance together). An experimental step, but strictly match in this film. 2. To watch the war of a man and a woman may bring orgasm to a man or a woman. This is natural and normal. But this war may not will end till even after post-humanism. This film shows it. 3. Form and concept may not be synthesized or praxisized, but may still give us a novum film. This is such an example. But the director may not know it or wants to do it.
Sans Kapiyi Kirinca (2005)
Not Comic
Turkish Cinema has a big problem. Directors aren't interested in global cinema. They are local and folkloric, but want to be international. This brings kitsch results such this movie.
Film has jokes translated to Spanish from Turkish and they don't have any meaning for non-Turkish audiences. Even for Turkish audiences after 10 years.
Players, even Ferhan SENSOY have a worse acting than average. They act like puppets.
Movie was shot in Cuba, but nothing includes about Cuba. So Cuba is thought like a banana republic.
Waste of money, waste of time.
