While in the middle of filming his latest mystery film, Fountain of Youth, Guy Ritchie is revealing another film project, Wife and Dog. Ritchie’s 18th feature hails from Black Bear, who launches Wife and Dog at the upcoming Cannes Film Festival event. Plot details about Wife and Dog remain a mystery, though Variety hears Ritchie is returning to the shady world of British Aristocracy for this anticipated feature. Cameras roll for Wife and Dog in October, with top-tier Hollywood actors negotiating for starring roles.
Like many of Ritchie’s film projects, he’s writing the screenplay and producing alongside his production partner, Ivan Atkinson, and Black Bear’s John Friedberg. Teddy Schwarzman and Michael Heimler of Black Bear executive produce.
As Cannes revs up for another competitive year, Ritchie is rolling cameras for Fountain of Youth, a mystery written by James Vanderbilt, starring Eiza González, Natalie Portman, John Krasinski,...

Eiza González has become one of the most interesting actresses working today. Over the years she has starred in big films including Baby Driver, Alita: Battle Angel and Bloodshot. In recent years, she started appearing in dramatic roles in films like I Care a Lot and the action thriller Ambulance where she got to show her range as an actress.

Eiza González is opening up about her experience as a Latin woman in Hollywood and how preconceived notions have made booking roles a challenge.
In a new interview, the 3 Body Problem star said she has been labeled as “sexy,” but doesn’t take that as a compliment as it hinders her range.
“I just think it’s an overly sexualized idea of a Latin woman,” she said in an interview with InStyle magazine. “It’s so disappointing and it’s so pathetic.”
González said that trying to get out of that box “has been single-handedly the biggest challenge of my career,” noting that “None of my white friends who were in the industry were getting that. It was just me.”
“I remember being [told for] so many projects, ‘She’s too pretty for the role. She’s too hot for the role,'” she continued. “Then I’d just be like,...

Mr. & Mrs. Smith definitely didn’t surpass expectations, it mostly left us with question marks for expressions because of how lackluster the show really was. I suppose you could say there are some good parts; you’ve got beautiful sets and some fun fashion choices, but most importantly, a bunch of cameos that are meant to enhance the show considering how dull it is otherwise. Not to say that Donald Glover and Maya Erskine are incapable of holding our attention, but it’s probably a mix of the writing and the pacing of this show that had me completely bored by the end of it. And, no, even these incredible special appearances did not pique my interest in any way. However, they do add a little bit of fun, even if briefly, to the mostly tedious show. Mr. & Mrs. Smith follows spies in this new spyverse, where there is...

Emerald Fennell’s twisted social satire Saltburn casts Rosamund Pike as Elspeth Catton, a wealthy onetime model with Bohemian chic style and a sharp tongue. Since the film’s release, some of Elspeth’s most memorable lines have gone viral in the same way as star Barry Keoghan’s more, ahem, revealing scenes. As it turns out, it’s all had an impact of Pike, a veteran star who has previously generated awards season attention for turns in Gone Girl, A Private War and I Care a Lot, to name a few.
“The way that Saltburn has caught the public’s attention, I felt enticed into leaning into that for how I dress during this little bit of time [during awards season],” Pike told The Hollywood Reporter while walking the red carpet at Saturday’s BAFTA Tea at The Maybourne in Beverly Hills. Will the Golden Globes think pink? “Barbie,” which leads with nine nominations, is expected to win four awards on Sunday: Best Comedy/Musical Film, Best Screenplay for Greta Gerwig and Noah Baumbach, Best Original Song (where it has three nominations) for Billie Eilish‘s “What Was I Made For?” and the new Cinematic and Box Office Achievement category. Its Barbenheimer other half ,”Oppenheimer,” is also predicted to win four prizes, which would make the duo just the seventh and eighth films to win exactly four awards in one night, not to mention on the same night. With the genre split, “Barbie,” at the very least, is shaping up to be the most awarded comedy of the night. But is it in tighter races than one might think?

Since her breakout Oscar-nominated role in David Fincher’s “Gone Girl,” Rosamund Pike has been on the brink of returning to “the club.” She has proven herself to be one of the most consistently compelling actors working today with highly acclaimed lead performances in films such as “A Private War,” “Radioactive,” and “I Care A Lot.” This is along with the versatility of her work in television. Pike stars in the Amazon viewership juggernaut “The Wheel of Time” and, on the other side, won an Emmy for her quiet portrait of one half of a marriage-in-crisis in Stephen Frears’ short-form series, “State of the Union”.
For her film work, Pike currently boasts that Oscar bid for 2014’s “Gone Girl, a Golden Globe nomination for 2018’s “A Private War” and a Globe won on the comedy side for 2020’s “I Care A Lot.” Many believe if the voting for the BAFTA...

When Rosamund Pike sat down to tea with Emerald Fennell to discuss “Saltburn,” the filmmaker’s follow-up to her Oscar-winning “Promising Young Woman,” she ordered coffee. Fennell asked if she was going to drink it black, to which Pike stated that she was going to add milk. Recalls Pike, “So she said, ‘Oh, thank God. I think people who have their coffee black have no love in their life.’ And I just thought, ‘Okay, first test passed.’”
Pike had already read the script her agent described as “pretty delicious,” a decadent tale of obsession and excess that finds young Oxford student Oliver (Barry Keoghan) ingratiating himself into the family of classmate Felix (Jacob Elordi). Fennell wanted to offer Pike the role of Lady Elspeth Catton, Felix’s wildly out of touch mother who loves to take in charity cases — in addition to Oliver, her friend “Poor Dear” Pamela (Carey Mulligan...

As Mae West once declared, “When I’m good, I’m very good. But when I’m bad, I’m better.”
That might also be the case when it comes to British actress Rosamund Pike, who just won a Best Actress trophy in the musical or comedy category for the darkly comic “I Care a Lot.” Her win was a bit of a surprise since newcomer Maria Bakalova, who plays Sacha Baron Cohen’s daughter Tutar in the “Borat” sequel, was considered the favorite. But she was no match for Pike’s wicked-smart turn as a stylish hoaxer who legally becomes a guardian for seniors who supposedly can’t take care of themselves and end up seizing their assets for her own gain.

Netflix spent big at this year’s Toronto International Film Festival, picking up Anna Kendrick’s directorial debut “Woman of the Hour” for $11 million and Richard Linklater’s well-reviewed “Hit Man” for $20 million. But other than that and despite an unusually numerous 50 titles for sale, the TIFF market at large was muted.
The lack of activity was in sync with the festival season for 2023 so far, as Sundance and Cannes went off with a smattering of deals compared to years past.
“In this marketplace, the studios and streamers, aside from Netflix, would rather spend big bucks on one or two movies that they are passionate about versus spending a boatload of money to fill a slate or clog up the pipeline with regular content,” a high-level distribution executive told TheWrap who declined to be named.

Provocative Oscar-winning Carey Mulligan films, the British royal family, and Mattel. What do they all have in common? It's not a trick question. The answer is Emerald Fennell, the writer and director of "Promising Young Woman," who also played a young Queen Camilla in "The Crown." Fresh off her small role as (pregnant) Midge in Greta Gerwig's plastic box office sensation "Barbie," Fennell is back behind the camera for "Saltburn," her second feature as a writer and director.

Prime Video dropped a sneak peek of “Wheel of Time” Season 2 ahead of its release on Sept. 1, which fans can now watch at the end of last season’s finale.
According to the Amazon-owned streamer, the special look “reflects the structure of the best-selling and epic “The Wheel of Time” book series by Robert Jordan,” in which he would add the first chapter of the next book as a preview.
The scene, which opens the first episode of the second season, is an adaptation of the fan favorite “Darkfriend Social” prologue of the second novel of Jordan’s series, “The Great Hunt,” upon which “Wheel of Time” Season 2 is largely based. It’s also based on some elements of Jordan’s third novel, “The Dragon Reborn.”

The Academy Awards isn’t every actor’s cup of tea. Rosamund Pike was once one of a couple of stars who found the Oscars, and award ceremonies in general, a bit hard to sit through.

Pike didn’t mince words when it came to award ceremonies. Whereas some actors may consider winning an award the high point of their careers, Pike once felt the exact opposite.
“I find award ceremonies so often the low point,” she once told Instyle (via FemaleFirst).
Pike was aware that some might not take too kindly towards her opinion. But she didn’t mind being as candid on the matter as other actors with past negative opinions towards award ceremonies.

Guy Ritchie is, as the kids say, booked and busy.
Fresh off “The Covenant” and the long-delayed “Operation Fortune: Ruse de Guerre,” the suddenly prolific British genre filmmaker has a new project set up by Black Bear International. The new film, with a title and plot under-wraps, is being prepped for buyers at Cannes and will mark a class reunion of sorts. The big-budget actioner will star Jake Gyllenhaal of “The Covenant” and both Henry Cavill and Eiza González, who feature in the upcoming “The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare.”
Ritchie said “There’s something special that happens when you collaborate with the same partners regularly: you build a shorthand and a trust that lets everybody do their best work. Jake, Henry and Eiza are all astonishingly talented, committed, and engaging actors. This is going to be an action-packed movie that is both intellectually stimulating and physically exhilarating.”

Now available on VOD and Digital HD on all major platforms from The Horror Collective, our latest Q&a is with Summoning Sylvia co-star Troy Iwata who tells us all about the new LGBTQ horror comedy:
What drew you to Summoning Sylvia and the character of Reggie?
Troy Iwata: I actually auditioned for Kevin originally, sent in an audition tape for that and then just got an offer for Reggie so I was like…ok. Any opportunity that offers a refreshing glimpse into queer representation I’m all for. First off I was obsessed with how funny the script was and the blending of genres was enticing as well. I loved that it was a story that took place after the coming-out process, after the self-discovery and acceptance process. There’s an entire life that happens after all of those journeys for queer people and it’s light and beautiful...

Mexican actress Eiza Gonzalez has purchased a 110-acre spread in Ojai, California, that offers sweeping views of the Topatopa Mountains, which are renowned for their “pink moment” at sunset.
The property is a compound comprising around 6,500 square feet of buildings. They include a light and airy 4,351-square-foot, three-bedroom main house, a 1,300-square-foot guest house, an art studio and a two-car garage.
Gonzalez’s purchase, which closed late last year for a price of 4 million, features a great room with 20-foot ceilings and French doors; a primary bedroom with its own French doors and a walk-in closet; and a primary bath with a steam shower and adjacent exercise room. In the kitchen are custom cabinets, a Sub-Zero refrigerator and freezer and a Dacor double oven. On the property, which has its own well and solar panels, are fruit trees and an olive tree that has been used by a previous owner...
