CBS leads all networks, and ABC’s “General Hospital” tops all programs, as nominations for the 47th annual Daytime Awards were announced Thursday by the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences.
“General Hospital” garnered a total of 23 nominations, followed closely by the other major TV soaps: NBC’s “Days of Our Lives” (22), CBS’ “The Young and the Restless” (21) and CBS’ “The Bold and the Beautiful” (13). Digital drama series “Eastsiders” (Netflix) and “Studio City” (Amazon Prime Video) landed eight nods each, while among daytime talk shows, ABC’s “The View” led all competitors, with eight nominations as well.
The most-nominated kids’ series were Apple TV Plus’ “Ghostwriter” and HBO’s “Sesame Street,” also at eight nominations. Interestingly, both are programs from Sesame Workshop that were once seen on PBS in previous incarnations. (The HBO episodes of “Sesame Street” are still run in a second window on PBS.)

Facebook Watch is extending — and expanding — its flagship original series, Red Table Talk, headlined and executive produced by Jada Pinkett Smith. Facebook has signed a new three-year deal with Pinkett Smith and Westbrook Studios, her company with Will Smith. The pact will keep the popular Daytime Emmy-nominated talk show exclusively on the platform with new episodes streaming through 2022, featuring Pinkett Smith, her daughter Willow Smith and mother Adrienne Banfield Norris.
Additionally, Facebook Watch is turning Red Table Talk into a franchise with the green light of a second series from Pinkett Smith and Westbrook Studios. Set in Miami, Red Table Talk: The Estefans, features music icon Gloria Estefan, her daughter and rising musician Emily Estefan and her niece and Daytime Emmy Award-winning TV host Lili Estefan. Like the mothership program, the offshoot will feature the three women of different generations discussing social and personal issues with family, celebrity guests and experts.

Exclusive: Facebook Watch has opted not to renew its original series Sorry For Your Loss, starring Elizaeth Olsen, for a third season and Limetown, headlined by Jessica Biel, for a second. The critically praised Sorry For Your Loss is being shopped around, I hear.
Facebook Watch still has several scripted series in the pipeline, which will be released as planned. Going forward, the company will be pairing down significantly their scripted development efforts. Word around town is that Facebook is leaving the scripted business. Sources close to the situation indicate that Facebook is not closing the door completely on original scripted programming if the right project came along but its focus is shifting to unscripted fare where it’s had more success and better traction with Facebook users.
Among Facebook Watch’s most popular originals are the Daytime Emmy-nominated Red Table Talk with Jada Pinkett Smith as well as Returning the Favor with Mike Rowe.

Facebook Watch announced Thursday that it will be renewing two of its original series, “Sacred Lies” and “Sorry For Your Loss,” for a second season. The two shows, which launched in September and October respectively, have found early success on the platform.
“Sacred Lies,” a series based on the Grimm Brothers tale “The Handless Maiden” and Stephanie Oakes’ novel “The Sacred Lies of Minnow Blyl,” is produced by Blumhouse TV. The first season, which spans 10 30-minute episodes, follows the journey of a handless teen who escapes from a cult and finds herself in juvenile detention, suspected of knowing who killed her cult leader.
The show page has accumulated 300K+ followers with each episode averaging more than 1.7 million views (a view on Facebook is defined as watching a piece of content for at least three seconds).

Last year, when Facebook was beginning to seed its newly-launched Watch tab, one of the first shows it announced was Returning The Favor, an inspiring documentary series led by former Dirty Jobs host Mike Rowe. A few months later, Facebook greenlit a second season of Returning The Favor, which has since premiered for Watch viewers.
Now, as Returning The Favor rolls along, its creators are looking to inspire fans of the show to help out people in need. Rowe and his team have launched a Facebook group called The Returning The Favor Effect, which aims to turn the show's premise into a nationwide movement of positivity and goodwill.
In Returning The Favor, which is produced by Hudsun Media and mikeroweWorks, Rowe travels the Us in search of hard-working do-gooders who deserve praise for the charitable work they have done in their respective communities. A February 13 episode, for example, spotlights an...
