The last we saw of Mary Elizabeth Winstead, she was kicking ass alongside Harley Quinn and the rest of her Bird of Prey squad. Mixed amongst the ensemble, Winstead still managed to shine as the awkwardly lovable, and incredibly dangerous assassin she could be. It left us all wanting more — and so the universe […]

Friendships are put to the test when nine former classmates on a reunion camping trip awake to find they’re locked into explosive vests with countdown timers on them. The only way to get more time? Kill each other…
Sometimes it’s unfortunate for filmmakers that the cast they put together can be, ultimately, unlikeable in the eyes of the audience. However in some cases, especially in horror films, having an unlikeable cast actually adds an extra dimension to your movie. Case in point, Triggered.

With the month of September nearly upon us, that means two things: one, we have a new batch of titles headed to VOD and Digital platforms, and two, our beloved Halloween season is finally almost here. And when it comes to September’s digital releases, we have a lot of great films to get excited about that will be headed home over the next few weeks.
The month’s releases kick off with a double dose of clown-themed horror—Clownado and Gags the Clown—as well as Jim Jarmusch’s The Dead Don’t Die and a Scooby Doo on Zombie Island sequel on September 3rd. Both Satanic Panic and The Fanatic hit various platforms on the 6th, and September 10th is playing host to a trio of terror as well: Artik, Hellmington, and Investigation 13. Haunt arrives on digital on the most perfect of days—September 13th—and look for...

We’ve got a creepy trailer for you to check out for the upcoming film Prey. The movie is produced by Blumhouse and directed by French filmmaker Franck Khalfoun (Maniac). Prey stars Logan Miller and Kristine Froseth. Here’s the synopsis for the film:
From Hyde Park Entertainment, ImageNation and Blumhouse Productions, the terrifying thriller stars Logan Miller and Kristine Froseth as two young strangers forced to run and fight for their lives against a mysterious and deadly force lurking deep in the jungle of a secluded island retreat.
The film looks pretty weird and scary, but I don’t know if it has enough story to carry it. Check out the trailer below, and let us know what you think. Prey hits theaters on September 27, 2019.

"What if your very own slice of paradise was actually a nightmare?" Blumhouse has launched an official trailer for a horror thriller movie titled just Prey, produced by Hyde Park Entertainment and ImageNation. This jungle island survival movie is the latest from French horror filmmaker Franck Khalfoun. To help rehabilitate a high school senior for behavioral issues, he is placed on a uninhabited island, but soon finds he is not alone. Being discovered could prove deadly. Logan Miller & Kristine Froseth star as two young strangers forced to run and fight for their lives against a mysterious and deadly force lurking deep in the jungle. This also reminds me a bit of J.D. Dillard's Sweetheart, about a deserted island that's haunted by some creepy ass creature. But this still looks like it has some gnarly scares. Here's the first official trailer (+ poster) for Franck Khalfoun's Prey, direct from Blumhouse's YouTube: From Hyde Park Entertainment,...

Bethesda kicked off their 2019 E3 press conference by announcing updates and expansions for some of their biggest games including Fallout 76, The Elder Scrolls, and Rage 2. A few brand-new titles were announced including Ghostwire: Tokyo, a very promising title from the makers of Resident Evil and The Evil Within. Video game streaming seems to be all the rage right now and Bethesda has jumped on that bandwagon with a service of their own.
Fallout 76 Updates
Despite Fallout 76 receiving mixed reviews upon its release last year, Bethesda have been hard at work to improve the game. During the press conference, Todd Howard took the stage to show off the new updates for Fallout 76, including a new 52 player battle royale mode called Nuclear Winter and the Wastelanders update, which will have new story quests, NPCs to interact with, and branching dialogue options. Deathloop sees two assassins compete in a battle for time.
Arkane Studios, the team behind the brilliant Dishonored franchise and the pretty good Prey, have revealed that their next project is a strange title called Deathloop.
"Deathloop” transports players to the lawless island of Blackreef in an eternal struggle between two extraordinary assassins," reads the official description of the game. "Explore stunning environments and meticulously designed levels in an immersive gameplay experience that lets you approach every situation any way you like. Hunt down targets all over the island in an effort to put an end to the cycle once and for all, and remember, if at first you don’t succeed… die, die again."
Truth be told, we don't really know much about this game beyond what we saw in the first trailer and what's mentioned in the description above. However, it certainly does seem like...

E3 may be the biggest show of the year, but there are many E3 facts you probably didn't know.
Since 1995, E3 has been the biggest video game show of the year. What started as a trade show largely intended to appeal to industry figures soon ballooned into an absolute spectacle that captured the attention of millions of gamers across the world.
E3 has endured a few ups and downs over the years, but it remains the most exciting time of the year for gamers. Despite its incredible popularity, though, there's actually quite a few pieces of E3 history that remain obscure to those millions of gamers across the world who eagerly watch every day of the show. That's especially true of the show's early years, which weren't widely broadcast and have been somewhat lost to time.
So before you binge the countless hours of video game content...

Harmon will be an executive producer on the CBS TV Studios effort, which comes from former Shadowhunters showrunner Ed Decter. Last year, Will & Grace returned with an exceptional new revival that delighted audiences and critics alike with its signature edge. Behind the scenes, though, not everything clicked back in. In fact, our resident Grace aka Debra Messing said it took a few episodes before she really found her stride again. "The whole first season, I kind of felt like I went through it in shock," Debra said during an interview on the show's iconic set. I had been lucky enough to visit last month, just ahead of the revival's second season.
"It took me about three episodes to feel like I got back into the bones of Grace," Messing continued. "I did have moments in the beginning where I saw that I was dressed like Grace, I saw that I was in Grace's apartment and in her office, but I didn't quite feel like her yet.

Stephen King’s horror novel “From a Buick 8” is in the works as movie at Ashok Amritraj’s Hyde Park Entertainment with William Brent Bell set to direct from his own script.
King published “From a Buick 8” — which derives its title from the 1965 Bob Dylan song “From a Buick 6” — in 2002 and set the story around the rural town of Statler, Pa., where state police have kept a mysterious 1954 Buick Roadmaster in the shed behind the barracks for over 20 years. After a well-liked member of the troop is killed by a drunk driver, his son begins to visit the barracks and the cops begin telling Ned about the “Buick 8,” which turns out to have a malevolent spirit.
King’s 1983 novel “Christine” touched similar themes with a vintage Plymouth Fury and its effects on the car’s new teenage owner. Columbia made the movie “Christine” in the same year with John Carpenter directing and Keith Gordon,...

Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds Beacon Theatre, NYC June 15, 2017
Much is being written that Nick Cave's current tour of Skeleton Tree may be his best yet. Seeing Mr. Cave and The Bad Seeds' performance last night at the Beacon Theatre in New York City, I would agree. Playing every song from that album except "Rings of Saturn" plus another eleven classic songs (set list here) from his catalog, it was a show that will be difficult to rival by any touring act this year or quite possibly until Mr. Cave decides to tour again. Quite remarkable given that he's a few months shy of his 60th year on Earth.
Channeling both rage and ragged beauty, he is singer of staggering charisma. Plunging himself into the open arms of adoring fans almost from the start, his rich, booming baritone never missed a note in any of songs, even those...

Aw, hell. Since Cinemax’s new supernatural drama, Outcast, is based on The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman’s comic-book series of the same name, I had great expectations going into the premiere (June 3, 10/9c, and already streaming). Why wouldn’t I? I love The Walking Dead and all things scary, and am a big fan of Patrick Fugit, who stars as Kyle Barnes, a tortured soul bedeviled by demons since he was a kid.

All episodes were provided prior to broadcast.
BBC America often functions as a catch-all for any and all British series seeking U.S. distribution, but that’s rarely as apparent as it is with the arrival of Prey, a wholly derivative but solidly delivered slice of serialized storytelling that’s not a six-part thriller so much as two three-part seasons jammed together for broadcast purposes.
Without any additional series on order, it appears that the six episodes unspooling over the next few weeks are all audiences will get of Prey, from writer-creator Chris Lunt, which makes its stateside landing feel less like a premiere and more like a burn-off. But even if that’s the case, there’s enough here for fans of copper comfort-food to temporarily warm themselves with.

It's been long in the works, but ITV has now confirmed that it's ordered a pilot for a revival of The Saint.
Set to go into production in 2016, this new take from writers Ed Whitmore (Arthur & George) and Chris Lunt (Prey) promises to bring Simon Templar - a roguish Robin Hood for the modern day - to a whole new audience.
But who could possibly follow in the esteemed footsteps of Sir Roger Moore (and Ian Ogilvy... and, erm, Val Kilmer) in bringing Leslie Charteris's gentleman thief to life? Digital Spy has picked out 12 potentials.
1. James Norton
Last year, Norton delivered two spectacularly disparate performances - as reprehensible Tommy Lee Royce on BBC One's Happy Valley and as 'sexy vicar' Sidney Chambers on ITV's Grantchester. Take a little of Royce's edginess, add a dash of Chambers's charm and you might just have yourself the perfect Saint.

ITV is planning a revival of 1960s drama The Saint.
The broadcaster has commissioned a pilot episode penned by Ed Whitmore (Arthur & George) and Chris Lunt (Prey).
According to the Radio Times, the pilot will go into production in 2016.
The Saint was originally created by Leslie Charteris, and starred Roger Moore from 1962 to 1969.
The series follows the character of Simon Templar, a criminal who is known for leaving a stick figure with a halo at the scene of his crimes.
Whitmore said: "There is a post-Breaking Bad appetite for morally grey characters. Simon Templar is a kind of Robin Hood figure - he's timeless."
The writer's new drama Arthur & George, based on a real-life investigation involving Sherlock Holmes creator Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, will launch on ITV on Monday (March 2).

Outside of his stint as James Bond, Roger Moore's most iconic other role was that of the well dressed Simon Templar, the titular hero of the 1960s TV series "The Saint".
Today, The Radio Times reports that ITV is planning to reboot the franchise with a pilot being ordered for a modern day incarnation of the series. Leslie Charteris created the original novels that inspired the series which produced 118 episodes and was popular in over sixty countries.
Ed Whitmore ("Waking the Dead") and Chris Lunt ("Prey") are penning the pilot for the new version which aims to go into production next year. Whittier says the aim is to produce a show that explores the morals of a man who both fought and committed crimes to do what's right: "There is a post-Breaking Bad appetite for morally grey characters... Popular in the 1960s and early 1970s with more rare appearances in the 1980s, 1990s and the 2000s, the anthology-style horror film has made a solid resurgence in recent years with such portmanteau releases as The ABCs of Death films and the V/H/S series.
With Mexico Barbaro, Fear Paris and other projects in various stages of completion, the anthology horror film looks to continue to be an important part of the horror cinema landscape.
Some anthology films employ a framing or wraparound sequence in an attempt to connect the segments that make up the film while others dispense with this classic Amicus-style approach entirely and simply present a collection of short films connected by genre.
Either way, a horror anthology film is ultimately about the quality of its individual segments and this article will take you on a tour of the greatest horror anthology segments of all time.

BBC 2 is adapting Bernard Cornwell's Saxon Stories for an historical 8-episode TV drama...
News
Here's a spot of exciting news. Bernard Cornwell's gripping The Last Kingdom novel is coming to BBC Two in the form of a shiny eight-part TV series.
Part of the Saxon Stories saga, The Last Kingdom is an historical drama starting in the year 872 in a post-Viking invasion pre-England. It follows the fate of young Uhtred Ragnarson, a man of noble Saxon birth but orphaned and raised by Vikings, who must decide where his loyalties lie against a backdrop of bloody battle and heroic deeds.
The project has quickly been labelled the BBC's answer to Game Of Thrones, which, if accurate, finds no complaints from these quarters. The BBC's Drama Commissioning Controller, Ben Stephenson however, says The Last Kingdom "will feel like nothing else on television, with all of the scale and...

Prey comes to an end, and keeps up its high standard. Here's our spoiler-filled review of the finale...
Review
This review contains spoilers.
The final episode of Prey opens with each of the main characters in varying states of disarray; Marcus is injured and in the middle of nowhere, Reinhardt’s stranded after he leaves her unconscious, Mac is forced into increasing levels of manipulation and Sean is so consumed by guilt and grief that he’s permanently drunk. After the incredible train sequence that concluded the second episode, the third takes a quieter approach, returning the emphasis to the personal stakes of Marcus’ story.
I often think the most difficult aspect of a series such as Prey is sticking the landing after building up something up so effectively. With the expansion of the events around Marcus, it could have easily gotten away from Chris Lunt and Nick Murphy and becoming something overblown and unsatisfying.

The cast and crew of ITV's Prey have hit back at BBC Radio 4 critic Philip Hensher after he made controversial comments about the show.
Hensher described the character played by actress Rosie Cavaliero as "the fat lady detective" when discussing the show on-air, and made other critical comments about the opening episode of the drama.
Prey director Nick Murphy said that Hensher's comments are "pitiful", tweeting: "Describing female character as 'fat woman detective'. Saturday Review meets Heat Magazine."
John Simm, who leads the cast of the new series, added: "He's a Prick. Delighted he didn't like it."
Meanwhile, Red Production Company, who are behind the series, posted: "You can guess what we at Red think. Appalled that Rosie C's break-out performance reduced to 'fat lady detective' in recent radio review."
The opening episode of Prey topped the ratings outside of soaps on Monday (April 28), attracting 5.7 million viewers and a 25.2% audience share.

A new version of classic TV series The Saint is being developed.
Prey writer Chris Lunt revealed on BBC Radio 5 Live today (April 29) that he has been hired to write a brand new version of the classic spy series starring Sir Roger Moore.
"I'm doing a reboot of The Saint, just script commissions at the moment, they are not guaranteed at the moment, but yes - that's quite exciting," he said.
Lunt explained that he will be heading to Hollywood with writer Ed Whitmore (Silent Witness), and that it will "have a very British feel" and will be "shot half in the UK and Europe and half globally".
He continued: "It's been produced by this American production company but they're looking for a British broadcaster to come attached. I've got a meeting with Sky soon."
Last year, The Saint was adapted for a new series by production company Mpca, starring Adam Rayner as Simon Templar.

ITV's new crime mini-series is a tense, dramatic affair - though when was the last time you saw a floppy disk in real life?
This review contains spoilers.
Prey opens with police officer Marcus Farrow (John Simm) emerging from a crashed police van: not in his professional capacity, but as a prisoner. He swiftly makes an escape after helping the other victims of the crash in a bold opening that quickly sets the tone for the remaining episode. Flashback to three days earlier, Farrow is helping his colleague and friend, Sean (Craig Parkinson), with an investigation into a body that could be a missing Turkish gangster, the key to which could be on a couple of floppy disks which hold the original case files (it’s been a long time since I’ve seen a floppy disk as a crucial plot point).

Prey ITV John Simm
Life on Mars star John Simm returns to television on Monday in ITV’s new mystery drama Prey. Simm plays Detective Sergeant Marcus Farrow — a popular cop who is falsely accused of murder. Rather than facing his accusers, Farrow goes on the run with Acting Detective Chief Inspector Susan Reinhardt (Rosie Cavaliero) in hot pursuit. Farrow has two aims: to avoid capture and to identify the real killer.
Following in the footsteps of shows such as Savage and Line of Duty, Prey explores the lines law enforcement officers are prepared to cross in order to solve crimes or to protect their own interests. Joining Simm in the cast are Adrian Edmondon (The Young Ones) and Anastasia Hille (The Fear). Episode one airs on Monday 28 April at 9 pm on ITV1.
