2 stars for the effort

One question kept popping into my head throughout the whole movie. "Who green lit this?" It's hard to believe a group of people watched this and said "wow, this has to be in theaters" It was hard not to leave halfway through. I figured I'd give it a chance since I was already there. The premise is all over the place. The acting and special effects were not great, and that's being generous.

I get that horror movies can be hit or miss, and I took the risk knowing that. Went in with low expectation and this shattered them, and mine were way down there. I just want to save someone the trip if they are considering watching this movie. I would have gladly switched to the cheesy rom com they were showing next door.

Forgive them Father for they have (all) sinned

No pun intended - I mean I am trying to see the good in something ... I really do. But it is quite hard to do here ... in this case. And there may or may not be multiple puns hidden in there. There is almost nothing hidden in the movie - Doug Bradley ... a horror icon, literally phoning it in! I reckon you can count that one as a pun .. go ahead.

Depending on your moral compass or if you are even a believer, I reckon you kind of have to be to "enjoy" this somewhat. But even so .. it won't be easy. The movie has so many flaws .... there is so much wrong with it. I couldn't list all the things .. well I could, but my time is way too valuable. Although judging by the fact I sat through this, maybe it isn't. Again surely the best intentions, but it just doesn't work ... at least not as a straight movie ... if you watch as a silly, badly acted mayhem ... well maybe you can be entertained ... no this is not the end of the world ...

PAINT DRYING IS MORE ENTERTAINING

One of the reviews has this rated 8 out of 10. I will bet you money he was in the film or has a vested interest. If someone rated this a 3 it would have my suspicions on high.

This movie is horrible. I mean seriously, I am glad I got to see for free because did I mention how bad it is? As another reviewer stated, how was this green lit?

Read the the other negative reviews, I'm not going to waste anymore time on how bad it is and give descriptions on the bad acting and end of the world devil scenarios that are laughable.

If I had to say one good thing, that would be some scenery shots looked pretty.

Aspires to be a chilling sci-fi horror, but falls flat
nERDbOX_Dave12 April 2024
"Thorns" aspires to be a chilling sci-fi horror, but instead blossoms into a thorny mess. The plot, riddled with more holes than Swiss cheese, follows a nonsensical path paved with convenient leaps of logic.

The acting is equally uneven. Some scenes feel phoned-in, with wooden deliveries that would make a rocking chair jealous. While others, particularly the scenes featuring actress Cassandra Schomer, hint at a deeper potential the film frustratingly squanders.

I get that indie horror is becoming all of the "Rage" right now, but this should not have made its way to theaters, when I think of all of great direct to streaming horror films last year, that didn't.

80s horror throwback

This was beyond fun. When watching this film it brought me back to when I would watch horror movies with my Aunt like Childs play, Nightmare on Elm Street, Fright Night, and Friday the 13th.

Fun jump scares, blood/ guts, and the internal frustration that you would do the complete opposite of what the main character does is what makes a great 80s horror movie. Believe me Thorns does not disappoint!

The lightning is perfectly eerie in Thorns. They were able to devour the audience in the fear of the color RED.

When you watch this movie you will feel the passion and fun everyone brought into making Thorns.
