Neil Young and his band, Crazy Horse, have embarked on their first national road trip in a decade this spring, a return to the plans that were in motion before the pandemic disrupted their reunion.
The 16-date tour kicked off with two nights in San Diego on April 24-25 and will conclude in Chicago on May 23.
The tour comes hot on the heels of the release of the latest Neil Young & Crazy Horse album, titled Fu##in’ Up. The album will initially have a limited release on vinyl exclusively for Record Store Day on April 20, followed by an all-format release on April 26.
The album comprises reimagined versions of songs from the band’s past, recorded in 2023. Young’s last full tour with Crazy Horse took place in 2014; in subsequent years, they performed a handful of shows in central California and Canada. Plans for a wider tour in 2020 were put on hold due to the pandemic.

Shortly after the dissolution of Buffalo Springfield in 1968, Neil Young teamed up with the core members of struggling L.A. rock band the Rockets, renamed them Crazy Horse, and spent the next five decades working alongside them. Their first record was 1969’s Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, featuring classics like “Down By The River” and “Cowgirl In The Sand.”
But their early recording sessions produced a lot more music than the seven songs on Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere, and Young is finally sharing this music on June 28 with the release of Early Daze.

Los Angeles’ famed Roxy Theater officially opened its doors on September 20th, 1973, with a performance by Neil Young and his band the Santa Monica Flyers. Fifty years to the date later, Young was back on stage at the Roxy, this time with Crazy Horse, in tow. What’s more, for the first time in his illustrious career, he performed two albums live and in their entirety: 1975’s Tonight’s the Night and 1969’s Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere.
In addition to celebrating 50 years of the Roxy, the gig was a benefit show raising money for the Painted Turtle and Bridge School. Young and company tore through some of their live staples like “Cinnamon Girl,” but also dug up deeper cuts like “Borrowed Tune,” “Lookout Joe,” and “Tired Eyes,” which he hadn’t performed since they were released in ’73. Young also played the 1969 song “Round and Round (It Won’t Be Long)” for the first time ever.

Yesterday, Lynne Ramsay made what’s most likely a massive career error by quitting Jane Got a Gun in spectacular fashion. By not showing up for work on the first day of filming, she either did the only thing she could do to take care of a personal crisis or she pulled a dick move by threatening a production and the jobs of several hundred people. Details are unclear at this point, but according to Deadline Hollywood, producer Scott Steindorff has pulled a director out of a hat to take Ramsay’s place. That filmmaker is Gavin O’Connor (Warrior, Miracle), and he’s an excellent choice for the wild west story that sees a young woman (Natalie Portman) turn to an ex to protect her husband from a gang ready to kill him. O’Connor has proven several times that he can make great adult fiction without alienating or making the tone too niche to enjoy...

Lifetime has decided not to go forward with Cinnamon Girl, its drama pilot co-created and executive produced by Renée Zellweger, which was set against the backdrop of the Los Angeles music and movie scenes of the late 1960s/early 1970s. It tells the story of four coming-of-age girls — Cassie (Allie MacDonald), Lola (Alexis Knapp), Junie (Brooke Anne Smith) and Lou (Jade Bartlett) — and explores their lives at the crossroads of the era’s political, artistic, social and sexual rebellions. Zellweger co-created Cinnamon Girl with Anthony Tambakis (Warrior), and the premise was a combination of Zellweger’s real-life journey from small-town Texas to Hollywood stardom and Tambakis’ lifelong fascination with the Laurel Canyon music scene and the New Hollywood, auteur-driven era that began in the late ’60s. Cinnamon Girl was the last of three produced pilots from Lifetime’s most recent batch whose fate had not been determined. The network recently...

The first new drama series from Lifetime‘s most recent batch of pilots has emerged. The cable network has given a series order to drama Witches Of East End, starring Julia Ormond, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, Rachel Boston and Mädchen Amick. The 10-episode series, produced by Fox 21, will premiere later this year. The Witches Of East End was one of four hourlong pilots Lifetime ordered last summer. Of the other three, two have been completed, the Renee Zellweger-produced Cinnamon Girl, whose fate is still up in the air, and The Secret Lives Of Wives, which Lifetime passed on earlier this month. The fourth, Hr, is still casting. Based on Melissa de la Cruz’s best-selling novel, Witches Of East End centers on the adventures of Joanna Beauchamp (Ormond) and her two adult daughters Freya (Dewan-Tatum) and Ingrid (Boston) — both of whom unknowingly are their family’s next generation of witches.

Just yesterday, the network cancelled dramedy Drop Dead Diva after four seasons. The hourlong pilots that have been completed and are in contention for a series order are the Renee Zellweger-produced Cinnamon Girl as well as Witches Of East End. Bridget Jones actor to direct and star in film reportedly based on experiences of real-life standup comedian Dov Davidoff
Bridget Jones star Renée Zellweger is to make her feature-directing debut with the comedy-circuit yarn 4 1/2 Minutes. She will also act in the film, alongside Johnny Knoxville, who will take the lead role of a messed-up comedian who has to look after her character's son. The script will be written by Anthony Tambakis, and is apparently based on the experiences of real-life standup Dov Davidoff.
Zellweger has been increasingly moving into behind-camera duties in recent months. She and Tambakis are sharing writing credits on a TV series, Cinnamon Girl, which received an order from the Lifetime channel in July. She is also still attached to star in Bridget Jones's Baby, the third movie in the series, but according to reports the project is on hold indefinitely.
Other major roles appear to be thin on the ground.
