“13 Reasons Why” star Dylan Minnette says his pivot from acting to focus solely on his rock band, Wallows, happened when acting began to feel like “just a job.”
“I was fortunate to find success in it — I was on ’13 Reasons Why’ and it was really popular and definitely reached a peak so far in what I’ve had in acting. But it also started to feel like a bit of a job,” Minnette said in an interview on the Zach Sang Show of his shift to music. “I was in a very fortunate position where it was always fun for me, always really inspiring, but then … it was just starting to feel like just a job.”
Minnette, who leads Wallows alongside band members Braeden Lemasters, and Cole Preston, explained that music and Wallows reflects a “passion that we’ve always had as a group to really take all the way,...

13 Reasons Why alum Dylan Minnette has one big reason why he walked away from his acting career. “[I’ve done] it for so long — like, a really long time — and I was very fortunate to find success in it,” Minnette said in a new Zach Sang Show episode. “But [acting] also started to feel like a bit of a job.” Minnette got his start as a child star, with a guest spot on Two and a Half Men in 2005 and a recurring role on Prison Break that started that same year. Between 2017 and 2020, he starred in the Netflix hit 13 Reasons Why. But he hasn’t been seen on screen since his 2022 arc on The Dropout, as he’s been focusing on his music career with the alt-rock band Wallows. In Apple TV+’s upcoming limited series, Jake Gyllenhaal hopes to be Presumed Innocent and not proven guilty.
Based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Scott Turow — which of course previously begat the 1990 Harrison Ford/Greta Scacchi/Bonnie Bedelia film — the eight-episode series covers a horrific murder that upends the Chicago Prosecuting Attorney’s office when chief deputy prosecutor Rusty Sabich (played by Gyllenhaal) is suspected of the crime. “The series explores obsession, sex, politics, and the power and limits of love, as the accused fights to hold his family and marriage together,” reads its official description.

In early May, sandwiched between the NewFronts and the traditional broadcast (and now streaming) upfronts, a new showcase for pitches to major advertisers will make its debut.
Billed as The Way Upfronts, the series of virtual presentations slated for May 7 and 8 is a hybrid of the annual springtime spectacles of ad-supported television and the supercharged energy of a festival marketplace. Plans call for making them quarterly, in-person events, with next month’s launch edition meant to increase visibility at a time when talent will already be making the rounds and fully emerging from a strike-impaired 2023.
Oscar-winning producer and manager Michael Sugar’s company, Sugar23, is leading the new initiative, which has secured attendance from brands representing some $120 billion in spending. Those Madison Avenue dollars are drawn to the talent in the Zoom. While organizers have not shared the names of presenters to the public, the host committee for the event includes Scarlett Johansson,...

Hugh Grant has been expanding on his career beyond his famous rom-coms, having starred in last year’s special effects-laden big-budget films Wonka and Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves. Grant will be returning to his popular franchise with Renée Zellweger for the recently announced upcoming fourth film in the Bridget Jones movies, Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy. The plot is said to “pick up with Bridget in her early fifties, as she navigates the challenges of modern life while juggling the responsibilities of motherhood.”
Grant recently spoke with the publication People as he teases the next installment in the series. The English actor stated,
It is very moving as well as funny. It’s partly based on Helen Fielding’s experiences of bringing up two children by herself after her husband died. And so Bridget is bringing up two kids and wondering whether she should ever go back to dating.

In this “bold political slasher” from the Bloomquist Brothers, a small town is shaken by a series of ominous killings in the days leading up to a heated mayoral election.
As accusations fly and the threat of a masked killer darkens every street corner, the residents must race to uncover the truth before fear consumes the town.
“We’re very happy to be partnering with the team at Dark Sky who know and love the power of genre cinema like we do,” said the Bloomquist brothers. “As the chaos of modern politics rages, The Founder is primed and ready to be unleashed on American audiences.”
Erik Bloomquist directed Founders Day, written by Erik and Carson Bloomquist.

The live-action series will take the beloved Nickelodeon animated show and attempt to bring it to life in a new medium for a new generation. Transgender actress Tommy Dorfman accused Delta Airlines employees of violating “human rights” after misgendering her during a testy exchange that went viral this week.
An employee shown in the since-deleted TikTok then calls her “condescending” and threatens to have her escorted out of the airport.
Dorfman, who starred in Netflix’s “13 Reasons Why,” uploaded a clip of the conflict to her TikTok account just before Christmas. In the video, she accuses at least two Delta staffers of repeatedly misgendering her at check-in, saying that one off-camera employee did so “intentionally.”
