The Jurassic Park / Jurassic World franchise is continuing – and it’s doing so without any of the leads from the previous movies. The new film in the series is aiming for a July 2, 2025 theatrical release, and when it reaches the screen, it will be introducing us to a new batch of characters. Those played by Sam Neill, Jeff Goldblum, and Laura Dern are out, as are the ones played by Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard. So far, we’ve heard that the new Jurassic World movie is set to star Mahershala Ali (Green Book), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Anatomy of a Scandal), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and a bunch of hungry dinosaurs. Now Deadline reveals that the cast is being rounded out with the addition of Luna Blaise.
Blaise is best known for playing Olive Stone on 62 episodes of the TV series Manifest.

We’ve been waiting a few years to see if and when the Marvel Cinematic Universe Blade reboot that’s set to star Mahershala Ali of Green Book is going to go into production – and while we continue to wait, Ali is in talks to join former MCU star Scarlett Johansson in the new Jurassic World movie that’s in the works at Universal! As The Hollywood Reporter notes, Ali tends to be very selective and usually avoids Hollywood blockbuster-type projects (aside from Blade), so getting him to sign on for a role would be a big “get” for this project.
If Ali’s deal closes, he’ll be sharing the screen with Johansson (Black Widow), Jonathan Bailey (Bridgerton), Rupert Friend (Anatomy of a Scandal), Manuel Garcia-Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), and a bunch of hungry dinosaurs. This new Jurassic World movie will have Gareth Edwards directing the film from a...

Hannah Dodd didn’t mean to audition for Bridgerton. Then again, she didn’t mean not to.
It was the spring of 2022 and Dodd was responding to a casting call. She had “no idea” what the project was — the title and character name were kept tightly under wraps — only that she would be playing a Regency-era maiden. And while most auditions require multiple scenes, here she was only asked to perform one: a scene where she would play a guest at a ball. Normally, Dodd would do a ton of...

Bridgerton season three is almost upon us (part one lands on Netflix on May 16) and the first full trailer has arrived to prove it.
Sensibly skipping book three in Julia Quinn’s frothy Regency-set series and getting straight to the Penelope and Colin of the matter, the third season is all about Pen’s search for a husband. Desperate to break out of the Featherington home and frustrated by her failure to attract attention from the ton, Penelope enlists the services of childhood pal Colin Bridgerton. With Colin’s tuition, a suitable beau can’t be far away. In fact, one might just be very close indeed…
Before we come to all the blue-eyes-bandaged-hand stuff though, some viewers have a question. Who, in the name of the gloriously bewigged Queen Charlotte, is the new face being presented at court by Lady Violet Bridgerton at 0:16?
That right there is Francesca Bridgerton,...

Without Valentine’s Day date nights to bolster grosses, ticket sales for “Bob Marley: One Love” fell sharply on Thursday.
The drama about the reggae legend earned $3.8 million in its second day of release, a 73% drop from its debut that brings its stateside total to $17.9 million. The Paramount release is hoping to hit the right notes over Presidents Day. It is projected to earn $30 million to $35 million over the six-day holiday stretch.
Its main competition is from Sony’s “Madame Web,” which is the studio’s latest attempt to expand its Spider-verse of Peter Parker-adjacent heroes and villains. Sony has had a mixed track record, scoring with the likes of “Venom” while falling flat with “Morbius.” “Madame Web” grossed $2.2 million its second day of release, bringing its domestic total to $8.2 million. Paramount’s “Bob Marley: One Love” stirred things up at the Valentine’s Day box office. The biopic about the reggae legend is outpacing estimates after opening to $14 million domestically. It added $4.9 million to its haul from 10 overseas markets, including the U.K., France and Spain. Its global gross stands at $19.4 million.
Those domestic numbers easily overshadow the opening of Sony’s “Madame Web,” the latest entry in the studio’s hit-and-miss, cinematic Spider-verse. The comic book adaptation generated a little over $6 million domestically.
“Bob Marley: One Love” was initially projected to collect $30 million to $35 million stateside between Wednesday and President’s Day on Monday. But unless the grosses are front-loaded, it could exceed those estimates. “Madame Web” is expected to generate $26 million during the same six-day period.

The original was a runaway hit last year after Paramount made the smart move to release it in theaters rather than o Paramount+. The gamble paid off: the film went on to gross $217 million worldwide, with a sequel quickly put in development.
The original film revolved around a psychiatrist who after witnessing a bizarre, traumatic incident involving a patient, becomes increasingly convinced she is being threatened by an uncanny entity. Plot details for the sequel are being kept under wraps.
Given the popularity of the first pic, Paramount sees the film as a top priority going forward and the casting process was competitive, with several up-and-coming stars chasing the part Scott would eventually land. The sequel is due to be...

If everything had gone differently, we would have already seen "Madame Web" by now. Yes, though the studios would have you believe it was delays caused by Covid-19, their refusal to give this summer's striking writers and actors a fair deal in a timely manner pushed the lady slinger back off her initial July 7 release date, and then again off an October 6 release. "Madame Web," the latest experiment in Sony's massively successful "Spider-Man" franchise, is now slated for February 16, 2024. That means it will open against the Bob Marley biopic, "One Love," so there should be distinct enough audiences for both films to do well.
There have already been two spinoffs of the core "Spider-Man" films, following the villains Venom and Morbius, to wildly different levels of success. If you count the "Spider-Verse" films as spinoffs, then there's an even higher bar for success that may not be fair...

Anya Chalotra of The Witcher, Chloe Cherry of Euphoria, and Ralph Ineson of The Witch star in the dark comedy Two Neighbors, which was able to secure a SAG interim agreement to film while the actors strike was still going on and wrapped production back in September. Although the story is set in New York, filming took place in the UK.
Marking the feature directorial debut of “multi-disciplinary artist” Ondine Viñao, who has exhibited video projects in the US and abroad, Two Neighbors was inspired by Aesop’s fable Avaricious and Envious. This take on the story shows what happens when Becky (Chalotra), an ambitious but struggling writer, is overcome by envy and spite when she meets Stacy (Cherry), a beautiful but insatiable socialite, at a lavish party hosted by Stacy’s father at their country estate. Whenever a producer in recent times has exited their partnership with a star, quite often said producer’s output is not as robust.
It’s a different situation for Bruna Papandrea, who after peeling off from Reese Witherspoon’s Pacific Standard Production Company has been on quite a roll with such TV hits as HBO’s The Undoing, Netflix’s Anatomy of a Scandal and Luckiest Girl Alive, Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers and now the Prime Video limited series The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart based on Holly Ringland’s novel. This is all under Papandrea’s six-year-old production banner Made Up Stories, which is devoted to female-centric stories.
On today’s Crew Call podcast, we talk with Papandrea about why she went solo with Made Up Stories, the genesis of The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart, and more.
Lost Flowers of Alice Hart follows the story of the title protagonist.

Jessica Chastain is a savant of acting, and now she’s getting a whole limited series to prove it. The “Eyes of Tammy Faye” Oscar winner and current star of “A Doll’s House” on Broadway will star in “The Savant,” a new limited series ordered by Apple TV+.
No other cast members outside of Chastain have been announced, and Apple TV+ states the storyline and character details are being kept under wraps. However, the show is inspired by a feature published in Cosmopolitan, with the original writer Andrea Stanley serving as a consultant.
Apple did not specify what article from Stanley the show is based on, but judging from the title, it’s almost certainly “They Call Her The Savant,” a 2019 profile of an anonymous woman who infiltrates online hate groups in order to track and prevent potential mass shootings.

The Oscar-winning The Eyes of Tammy Faye actress will star in The Savant, an eight-episode limited series based on a true story published by Cosmopolitan.
