Some people should not be able to write or direct film and tv because they just don't get people. You need a certain depth for that.
The previous couple of episodes were like a whole different show, especially the one before the last one. The characters were real, multidimensional, truly interesting so watching this after those ones was like a sugar crash, my mind would just wander off like crazy, going everywhere but the screen.
I really liked some scenes tho, like the one in the bathroom with Jessica and Ani speaking at the mirror. Of course the acting is remarkable but the framing work is outstanding all along the episode, actually. But they were still lacking of depth except when Ani or Jessica were on screen. The interview scenes were really boring but the actor that plays the principal is incredible, I've seen him in a version of "the shinning" a long time ago where he plays an unforgettable Jack Torrance. The actor that plays Alex's dad is great too, and of course our Clay who is just something else... what a guy!
The background music was spectacular, especially the tune that plays while Clay is in bed. It creates ambience and depth.
I don't know how much of this is because of the writing or the production but I am amazed at how plain this show can turn sometimes. Some aspects of the direction were beautiful tho, like the framing etc.
