Storyline
Did you know
- TriviaThis episode marked the last time all of Charles and Caroline Ingalls' biological children - Mary, Laura, Carrie and Grace - and adopted children Albert, James and Cassandra appeared in the same episode, and certainly was one of the only times everyone was under one roof at the same time. This was the final episode for Linwood Boomer and Melissa Sue Anderson (who played Adam and Mary Kendall, respectively).
- GoofsWhile Laura is pregnant in here, she was not pregnant during Christmas time with Rose. Rose was born on the fifth of December, in 1886, about three weeks before Christmas.
- Quotes
Charles Ingalls: Stop your crying, woman!
Caroline Ingalls: I will! In a minute.

Gratuitous and unengaging
I wonder if the other reviewers watched the same episode that I did. Due to a blizzard, everyone is stuck in the Ingalls house. We get four Christmas recollections from someone's childhood. The first was by Caroline. The actress that played Caroline, as a child, was a flop. In no way did she convince me that I was watching Caroline Ingalls. In an earlier episode, a young version of Caroline was played by Katy Kurtzman, who was excellent. If we couldn't have Katy here, they should have gotten a child who could, at least, act. The stories told by Almanzo and Laura are OK, nothing more. Hester Sue's story is memorable only because it was offensive. I see nothing "cute" about children debating whether Santa Claus is black or white. The racially charged language used by these children didn't belong in a Christmas-themed episode. As an adult, Hester Sue seems not to have any hangups about race. Why, then, would she think her white friends would want to hear the racially charged story that she told? The whole episode left a bad taste in my mouth. Seemed like something that was shown for lack of a better idea. Also, what was going on with Mary? Melissa Sue Anderson wasn't listed in the opening credits, but at the end of the closing credits. Talk about disrespect to an original cast member!
