The film's title, Melissa P. (2005), is derived from author Melissa Panarello's source novel, "One Hundred Strokes of the Brush Before Bed."
Although she trained for a few months, 'Maria Valverde''s Italian wasn't good enough, so she was dubbed. As consolation, Valverde dubbed herself for the Spanish version.
