Kai Maurer studied acting at Lamda. He has appeared in such films as The Score, U-571 and Beyond the Sea. His work in television includes appearances in Red Dwarf and a leading role in the BBC soap opera Eldorado but unfortunately always being type cast as "Zee German". His stage work includes a West End appearance in It Won't All Be Funny at the Garrick Theatre and His short films have been screened at such festivals as Edinburgh, Raindance, East London, Manhattan Short Film Festival, IFCT (International Festival of Cinema and Technology) New York and at the Curzon Soho and the ICA in London and Edinburgh.
Previously he worked as a musician in his native Germany, touring the country in an orchestra (on trumpet) and playing in a rock band (on drums). He formed Surface Films with Matthew Scott-Perry in September 2003 and Splinter is the first feature film he has directed.

Dominik Kuhn, a native South German, started out as a producer in the live event business and as a touring sound engineer in 1987 before in the mid-nineties he made the conversion to moving image producer and eventually to writer-director. Until the end of 2009, as a creative strategist he wrote and directed advertisement and image films for Europe's big agencies and brands, as well as for the European branch for Hollywood industry. His specialty in advertising film are uncommon visual worlds and tongue-in-cheek boards, which made him to one of the most sought after specialists for viral campaigns in Germany. Since 2009, he is creator, writer, producer and voice actor of his own TV show "Die Welt auf Schwaebisch" on German national broadcaster SWR Fernsehen. The show is based on the principle of dubbing over movie snippets, news and other footage in broad native south German accent and with funny new, sometimes bizarre meaning, which he became famous for with more than 50 clips he did on YouTube, based on the same principle. His Star Wars spoof "Virales Marketing im Todesstern Stuttgart" ("Viral Marketing at Death Star Stuttgart") has scored to date more than six million clicks on various Internet video platforms, and has become mandatory viewing for marketing people in the German-speaking part of the world. He grew up as the firstborn of two sons of the qualified engineer Dr. Peter Kleber and his wife Margot. He attended primary school in Vaduz, Liechtenstein. In 1964 he moved with his family to Bensberg near Cologne. In 1974 he passed his high school diploma. From 1974/1975, Kleber studied law at the Eberhard Karls University in Tübingen. In 1978 and 1979 he spent two semesters abroad in Lausanne. In Tübingen he became a member of the Catholic student association AV Guestfalia Tübingen.
At this time he made his media debut as a freelancer for Südwestfunk in Tübingen and Baden-Baden. In 1980, Kleber passed his first state examination in law, followed by his traineeship in Stuttgart. His second state law examination followed in 1983. In the same year, 1983, he traveled to Washington D.C. for a research stay for his dissertation. and New York. For his studies and stays abroad, Kleber received a scholarship from the German National Academic Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD).
After the second state examination, Kleber worked as a lawyer at a law firm in Stuttgart specializing in international business and competition law. In January 1985, Kleber became studio manager of Südwestfunk in Konstanz. In 1986, Claus Kleber received his doctorate on the subject of "Private broadcasting - design options within the constitutional framework". From 1986 to 2001, Kleber reported as a correspondent for the ARD broadcasters in both radio and television reports from the USA, where he was most recently appointed radio editor and studio manager in Washington D.C. was appointed.
During this time, Kleber provided live reports on the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 for ARD. During his time in Washington, Kleber met the country's most influential politicians in his work. Among other things, he held personal conversations with the incumbent US Presidents George H. W. Bush, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush. In 2001 he moved to ZDF, where he was ultimately promoted to ARD studio manager in London. At the beginning of 2003, Claus Kleber became director and presenter of the ZDF news program "heute-journal".
In 2003, ZDF broadcast the Kleber documentaries "Allmacht Amerika", "People in the Tomorrowland" (2006), "India - Unstoppable" (2006) and "America's Other Side" (2007). By from antiquity to today" (2006). In 2010 he was awarded the Hanns Joachim Friedrichs Prize for television journalism for his moderation of the program "heute-journal".
