What Do We Know About Dune Prophecy? More than you may think. With the second part of Denis Villeneuve’s adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction novel a critical and box office success, it is going to be several years before we see the next feature film in the series, Dune Messiah. Luckily, production on the small-screen prequel /spin-off was concurrent with Dune: Part Two which means before the end of the year we are going to return to the fictional realms of Arrakis, Geidi Prime, and more via Max.
While not much in the way of footage has made its way online, there have been quite a few reveals about Dune Prophecy, so let’s jump in and discuss.
Denis Villeneuve is not directing any episodes

If you’re still in Shōgun withdrawal, you can look forward to Peacock’s own take on a lavish historical epic this summer. Robert Rodat (Saving Private Ryan) is behind the small-screen adaptation of Those About to Die, Daniel P. Mannix’s book of the same name, which was also the inspiration for Ridley Scott and David Franzioni’s Gladiator.
This new period drama will come racing to our screens on July 18, with the decline of the Roman Empire as its backdrop. Peacock released a teaser for the series, starring Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hughes, and Iwan Rheon, among others, last month. And the streamer is now moving full speed ahead on promo with new images, including closer looks at the Roman Emperor Flavius Vespasian (Hopkins), who founded the Flavian dynasty; Titus (Hughes), Flavius’ son and successor; and games master Tenax.

Dennis Villeneuve’s take on Frank Herbert’s beloved sci-fi saga Dune is something truly special. The two movies released so far have been acclaimed by both fans and critics, who loved the world that the Canadian filmmaker has managed to create. And while the film series is moving forward with Dune: Messiah, currently in the works, we know that a prequel series – Dune: Prophecy – is also in the works and that it is going to premiere later this year. A trailer has recently been released, which we reported about, which also confirmed the series’ Fall 2024 release window. Aside from the trailer, a series of stills from the series have been released, revealing some important moments and some of the characters.
The series itself is a prequel set 10,000 years before the main timeline. It will follow two sisters from the Harkonnen family as they try to save humanity from...

Dennis Villeneuve’s take on Frank Herbert’s beloved sci-fi saga Dune became a major hit, with both fans and critics agreeing that Villeneuve has made yet another masterpiece as far as the whole franchise is concerned. Both of the films were global hits and we know that the third and final movie of the trilogy, Dune: Messiah, is currently in the works. But, while we wait for the third movie, we are also going to see a prequel series, Dune: Prophecy, which will explore the world of Dune before the first movie. The series is going to premiere on HBO Max later this year, and we are happy to confirm that a trailer for the series has been released, confirming its Fall 2024 release window.

I vividly recall when the trailer for "Star Wars Rebels" season 3 debuted at Star Wars Celebration in 2016. When the promo unveiled Grand Admiral Thrawn -- the awesome Big Bad of Timothy Zahn's "Heir to the Empire" novel trilogy from the Expanded Universe (aka Star Wars Legends) -- as the season's main threat, it was a fist-pump moment for fans of the EU. So, naturally, when the "Rebels" panel opened up to fan questions, one brave soul told "Rebels" co-creator/showrunner Dave Filoni the thing that was on everybody's minds: Do Mara Jade next!
Okay, they framed it as more of a query, but that was the gist.
Mara Jade, as it were, was introduced in "Heir to the Empire" as an assassin in the Emperor's Hand, a secret agent group that served Emperor Palpatine in the EU. A version of the Hand now exists is the Disney canon, but...

Amidst the pomp and circumstance surrounding the Imperium delegation’s arrival to the Atreides home world of Caladan, Duke Leto Atreides (Oscar Isaac), has a practical question. “How much did it cost them, traveling all this way for this formality?” he asks his Mentat Thufir Hawat at the start of Dune. And then Thufir, played by Stephen McKinley Henderson, does something weird. He doesn’t whip out a palm pilot or consult his calculator watch. He instead rolls his eyes into the back of his head for a couple of seconds and then produces an answer: “Three Guild Navigators, a total of one-point-four-six-million-sixty-two Solaris roundtrip.” Director Denis Villeneuve nor his co-writers Jon Spaihts and Eric Roth explain what any of those words mean in the script, or why Thufir does that weird thing with his eyes. And viewers easily chalk it up just another weird thing in this unfamiliar world.

Once known as Dune: The Sisterhood, the Max streaming series Dune: Prophecy, which serves as a prequel to the Dune feature films directed by Denis Villeneuve, started filming in November of 2022, then underwent quite a shake-up in 2023 when the director of the first two episodes, Johan Renck (who executive produced and directed all five episodes of the HBO limited series Chernobyl) decided to leave the project over creative issues, then Shirley Henderson (Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire) – who had been cast as one of the show’s lead characters – followed him out the door. Everything has been worked out since then, with Dune: Prophecy on track for a fall 2024 premiere. To start building the hype, Max just unveiled a teaser trailer for the show, and you can check it out in the embed above!

British royal family news reveals that Princess Beatrice, daughter of disgraced Prince Andrew, believes she is a worthy replacement for Princess Catherine who is receiving cancer treatment.
No lie. Here’s what to know about this amazing development which comes on the heels of Harry and Meghan’s laugh out loud Nigerian Riveria Tour.
Both Catherine and King Charles are receiving cancer treatment which means the ranks of senior royals is depleted. According to the Daily Mail, “Princess Beatrice is set to take on a more visible role within the Royal Family, adding support during a particularly busy period for the monarchy.”
Royal News – Princess Beatrice Expects To Replace Kate
If true, Beatrice’s increased visibility comes with a serious downside: the specter of her father, stripped of his royal titles due to accusations of his participation in an underage sex trafficking ring.

The history of science fiction movies knows the breakthrough, made by Ridley Scott in 1982 with his Blade Runner, a dystopian tale about the revolt of the human-like replicants. This Harrison Ford-starring film influenced a great number of filmmakers, becoming one of the most cultish sci-fi features of all time.
Among the inspired ones was the Dune director Denis Villeneuve, who was so in love with Ridley Scott’s movie that even decided to make a sequel of it. Back in 2017, the world saw his Blade Runner 2049, where Ford reprised his iconic role alongside the new lead, Ryan Gosling, who starred as the young police officer, hunting rogue replicants.
Despite the fact that the movie was quite disappointing at the box office, grossing just $267.5 million worldwide against a production budget of $150–185 million, over the course of 7 years it has gained enormous hype and been recognized as a masterpiece.

5 Sexiest Characters in Star Wars Sequel Trilogy - Main Image
Just when we thought that Star Wars trilogies were over after the release of Episode VII – Revenge of the Sith in 2005, Lucasfilm once again brought the story of the galaxy far, far away to life with the sequel trilogy. But aside from its intricate storylines and fascinating lore, another thing that caught the viewers' eyes was its characters’ incredible charm and allure.
The Star Wars sequel trilogy, which included Episode VII—The Force Awakens, Episode VIII—The Last Jedi, and Episode IX—The Rise of Skywalker, featured some of the best actors of their time.
It saw the return of Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and the late Carrie Fisher as Luke Skywalker, Han Solo and Leia Organa.
But it also introduced franchise newcomers Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Adam Driver, and Oscar Isaac as Rey Skywalker, Finn, Kylo Ren and Poe Dameron,...

Back in 2000, director Ridley Scott took us back to 180 Ad for Gladiator, which told the story of Roman general Maximus Decimus Meridius (played by Russell Crowe), who is favored by Emperor Marcus Aurelius to be his successor because his own son, Commodus, is unfit to rule. Commodus disagrees, so he murders his father, has Maximus arrested, and has Maximus’s wife and son killed. While Commodus establishes himself as the new emperor, Maximus escapes from captivity – only to be captured again, this time by slavers who sell him off to become a gladiator. Soon he’s fighting in front of Commodus in Rome’s Colosseum… and it all builds up to Commodus challenging Maximus to a duel. Gladiator was a major box office success and racked up multiple Academy Award wins, including Best Picture. So there was already talk of a sequel in 2001, but it ended up taking more than...

Star Wars: Dark Empire's Luke Skywalker And The Phantom Menace's Darth Maul Get New Hot Toys Figures
When Disney acquired Lucasfilm from George Lucas for a whopping $4 billion, the Star Wars Expanded Universe immediately concluded and was latter dubbed "Legends."
This wasn't a shock as there was no way the studio would ever be beholden to decades worth of comics and tie-in novels while trying to create a new trilogy of movies - not to mention countless tie-in stories - set in a Galaxy Far, Far Away.
Understandably, many Star Wars fans have been upset to see the characters and tales they loved from the EU era sidelined and largely forgotten. However, Disney has incorporated elements of them into the new canon from the start, with Grand Admiral Thrawn's Star Wars Rebels role a perfect example of that.
As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, we're also slowly starting to see merchandise based on those stories, and Hot Toys has today unveiled a Luke Skywalker figure based...

King Charles has finally announced a return to royal duties. The United Kingdom’s king has refrained from many of his regular public-facing duties since being diagnosed with cancer. However, a royal commentator claims something important is missing from this announcement, raising eyebrows. Here are the details.
King Charles’ announcement and what wasn’t said
On April 26, the royal family’s Instagram account announced that Charles would be returning to public-facing duties after a “period of treatment and recuperation following his recent cancer diagnosis.” However, royal commentator Daniela Elser of News.com.au believes there is much more than meets the eye regarding the careful wording of the statement.
She writes, “It’s worth looking at what the palace has said and, perhaps more importantly, what it has not. According to the palace, Charles’ ‘doctors are sufficiently pleased with the progress made so far that the King is now able to resume several public-facing duties.

Over two months after King Charles III revealed he had been diagnosed with a still-unspecified form of cancer, the monarch has announced he will return to “public-facing duties” in the coming weeks.
Outside of a few public appearances — including greeting well-wishers outside of an Easter Sunday church service last month — King Charles III had taken a step back from royal duties as he received treatment for cancer, during which he “continued to undertake state business and official paperwork as usual.”
However, on Friday, Buckingham Palace shared the news that “His...

Either way, the meeting seems otherworldly, not least of all because Paul and Alia are conversing on a beach. On Arrakis.

The idea of our alternate selves living completely different lives somewhere out there is no longer the sole domain of perhaps the nerdiest franchise in all of sci-fi, the Marvel Cinematic Universe, or the best episode of "Community" ever made. During a history-celebrating festival in the United Kingdom, Scottish actor Brian Cox lost his temper and attacked actors, theater critics, and politicians. Napoleon (2023), helmed by Ridley Scott, was the first flick he targeted. The yearly gathering discusses historical events with academics, educators, and prominent people.
Cox first took issue with Joaquin Phoenix’s depiction of French Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte in Scott’s $221 million historical epic. The actor, who played Logan Roy on Succession for four seasons between 2018 and 2023, spoke candidly about his thoughts on Phoenix’s performance at HistFest, calling it “terrible”. Reacting quickly to Cox’s remarks, fans questioned why a great actor would ‘hate’ another great actor.

Desperate times call for desperate measures, and in the concluding phase of the final season of Bad Batch, the titular team of renegade Clone Troopers find themselves in a similar situation. As seen in the previous episode, the covert Clone operative had managed to learn about the batch’s location in the fishing village of Pabu by stealing Phee Genoa’s travel logs. By bringing reinforcements from Tantiss, the operative ensured he burned down all escape routes the batch might have opted for and continued forcing the residents of the village to give Omega up. At the end, unwilling to let others suffer for her, Omega decided to surrender herself, asking Crosshair to use this opportunity to track her so they could learn the location of Tantiss, which would allow the batch to rescue not only her but all the captive Clones.

It's been 24 years since Ridley Scott's "Gladiator" brought the glory and gore of ancient Rome to gorgeous life, and now the prolific director has returned to the tale with "Gladiator 2." Set 20-30 years after the events of the first film, "Gladiator 2" will star Paul Mescal as Lucius, the son of Roman Empress Lucilla. Though Maximus (Russell Crowe) died along with Lucius's vicious uncle Commodus (Joaquin Phoenix) at the end of "Gladiator," both Lucilla and Lucius survived.
The movie will also star Denzel Washington as an arms dealer who has a stable of gladiators and Joseph Quinn as Emperor Caracalla, along with Pedro Pascal, May Calamawy, Peter Mensah, Matt Lucas, Fred Hechinger, and Derek Jacobi. That's quite a packed cast, although with a reportedly massive budget of more than $300 million, "Gladiator 2" could prove to be a disaster financially while paying off well for movie-goers who want to see some high-end historical fiction.

After Disney acquired Lucasfilm, one of their biggest creative decisions regarding the "Star Wars" franchise was to completely disregard the entirety of the Expanded Universe, opting to turn all the novels, comics, video games, and other assorted media surrounding the "Star Wars" movies into what is now known as Legends and removing them from the overall canon of the galaxy far, far away.
However, since then, several "Star Wars" projects have brought some of the Expanded Universe content back under the canon umbrella, such as the villainous, master strategist Grand Admiral Thrawn. The character originated in the "Heir to the Empire" trilogy of novels by author Timothy Zahn, which is largely considered to be among the best "Star Wars" books ever written.
But just because that story was relegated to Legends doesn't mean Lucasfilm is ignoring it. Not only is a version of this storyline slowly coming to fruition in...

One of the most famous scenes in the Star Wars film saga almost didn’t happen at all. Although the movie was always going to end with Anakin Skywalker losing a few limbs, the stunt team behind Prequel Trilogy closer originally choreographed a different climax for Revenge of the Sith‘s final duel between brothers. In fact, an earlier version of the fight on Mustafar didn’t have Obi-Wan getting the high ground on Anakin at all; there was no cocky last leap from young Skywalker to seal his fate.
As Revenge of the Sith stunt coordinator Nick Gillard explained to Empire magazine, “Originally, they both land on the side of the lava flow and immediately start fighting. Anakin disarms Obi and grabs him by the throat. He’s about to chop his head off, but Obi sucks the lightsaber into his hand in a defensive move to try and block it,...
