Tell Me Lies season two is in production, and we’ve learned of some casting news recently.
The show was renewed for a second season in November of 2022 and we haven’t heard much since, likely due to the actors’ and writers’ strikes. Now, we know of a few returning stars, and we’re making our best guesses as to who else might be returning. Plus, we’re confirming two actors have joined the series as well.
The series follows a tumultuous but intoxicating relationship as it unfolds over the course of 8 years. When Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White) meet at college, they are at that formative age when seemingly mundane choices lead the way to irrevocable consequences. Although their relationship begins like any typical campus romance, they quickly fall into an addictive entanglement that will permanently alter not only their lives, but the lives of everyone around them.

The finale episode of Tell Me Lies hit Hulu on Wednesday, leaving viewers gawping in shock as the toxicity of the story’s central relationship kicked up to a whole new level.
The show, based on the Carola Lovering novel, and written by showrunner Meaghan Oppenheimer, follows the all-consuming romance between two college students, Lucy Albright (Grace Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson Wright), as they navigate a devastating tragedy against the backdrop of their own family traumas and destructive behaviors.
Here, Grace Van Patten, who began acting as a child in The Sopranos and most recently starred in Nine Perfect Strangers, sits down with Deadline to discuss the reality of depicting a strong woman sucked into an emotionally abusive situation, what she hopes viewers will take away from this and her second season dreams of vengeance.
Deadline: When we meet her, Lucy is this tough, numbed-out person who takes no prisoners.

August theatrical releases were a bit sparse, but “Partner Track,” “Lost Ollie” and seven other book-based projects found their way onto streamers last month, including HBO’s “Game of Thrones” prequel series “House of the Dragon.” September has more theatrical releases, but fewer book adaptations to look forward to. Those that are coming out this month have rich history though, especially “The Rings of Power” series that Amazon has based on J.R.R. Tolkien’s books and appendices.
There’s also “The Silent Twins” starring Letitia Wright and Jodhi May as well as Andrew Dominik’s feature film “Blonde” adapted from Joyce Carol Oates’ book about the career of Marilyn Monroe.

Jackson White and Grace Van Patten Say Hulu's "Tell Me Lies" Is "Completely Different" From the Book
Carola Lovering's 2018 novel, "Tell Me Lies," is getting the TV treatment - but don't expect a totally straightforward adaptation. Starring Jackson White and Grace Van Patten, the 10-episode series unpacks the toxic, all-consuming romance between college students Lucy Albright (Van Patten) and Stephen DeMarco (Jackson White), which unfolds over the course of eight years. Think: the After movie franchise and Netflix's "You."
"It is the three-dimensional version," White tells Popsugar of how the show compares to the book. "We had the blueprint and the template to go off of and play from, but it's a completely different thing, and it's given life to all these book characters. It's really cool."
According to Van Patten, the series "takes its own path in terms of plot and little twists and turns, but the characters are still the same." She adds, "I think fans of the book will be just as surprised.
