The breakout star of Love Lies Bleeding, Katy O’Brian, is also seeing her fair share of franchise roles. Prior to her latest A24 movie, O’Brian has played parts in projects for Disney like The Mandalorian and Marvel Studios’ Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. She will also be seen in the upcoming Twisters, where she says, “We filmed a tornado movie during tornado season in Tornado Alley.” She would reveal that her character is “a little sillier” than she has been used to, but she won’t go as far as to call it a comic relief role. “I don’t want to say comedic role, and then everyone’s like, ‘She wasn’t funny.’ We’ll say it’s silly and fun.”
Now, according to Deadline, O’Brian is joining the cast of Mission: Impossible 8 as filming continues underway for the Tom Cruise action film. Details surrounding the upcoming...

As last year’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning (which has dropped the “Part One” subtitle since it hit home video) wrapped up, we saw that Tom Cruise’s Imf agent lead character Ethan Hunt would live to run another day – and pictures from the set of Mission: Impossible 8 (which won’t be called Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two after all) show him doing just that! Cruise running is a big part of these movies and his overall career, so it’s nice to see that Mission: Impossible 8 will indeed have him moving across the screen as fast as his legs can carry him. There’s even some video from the set as well, if you want to see this run in action.

Five years have gone by since Tom Cruise announced that Paramount Pictures had given the greenlight to two more Mission: Impossible movies, with Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) and Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018) writer/director Christopher McQuarrie returning to the helm. At one point, we thought these movies were going to carry the titles Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One and Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part Two… but Paramount is backtracking from that decision. After Dead Reckoning Part One underwhelmed at the box office when it was released last year, the studio has dropped Part One from the subtitle and has let it be known that the next film, which is still in production, will have a different title. A decision they really should have made before releasing the first half of the story. At least we’re still getting the second half of the story, with the...

The 2024 Sundance Film Festival was essentially one giant reunion for the flyboys of “Top Gun: Maverick,” with Danny Ramirez, Glen Powell and Jay Ellis all starring in films playing the festival.
The trio trekked to Park City, Ut just days after news broke that a third “Top Gun” movie was in the works at Paramount, and Ramirez told Variety that the cast’s group text — fittingly named with the emojis “up” and “gun” — had been “buzzing” with questions about what’s going on with the developing project.
“Obviously, it’d be amazing to be able to do a third film in this beautiful story. But, as we learned with the second one, it’s got to be absolutely right,” Ramirez said, noting the 30-year gap between the original “Top Gun” and “Maverick.”
“Being cognizant of that, we’re excited at the prospect of everyone back in the air,” he teased.

Davis made his feature film debut in 2019 in the 20th Century Studios’ film The Call Of The Wild, alongside Harrison Ford, directed by Chris Sanders.
He most recently portrayed the characters of Degas in Mission: Impossible- Dead Reckoning Part One and Lt. Rob Delaney is confident that SAG-AFTRA "will win" their dispute.Last month, the American actors' union went on strike over an ongoing dispute with the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and Rob, 46, is confident that a win for SAG-AFTRA is "inevitable and we can all get back to work".When asked during an interview with The Observer Magazine about his role in the latest 'Mission: Impossible' film with Tom Cruise, Rob replied: "I can’t tell you about any of that because of the strike – but that’s good because somebody will read this and they’ll be disappointed, and they’ll complain to the studio. You only need the tiniest bit of labor history to learn that we will win, so the studios might as well just skip to the inevitable and we can all get back to work."Rob stars in 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part On' alongside Tom,...

Business-wise, "Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One" may have been a slight victim of the Barbenheimer phenomenon, but that didn't mean that Christopher McQuarrie's third entry in the franchise wasn't another stellar piece of blockbuster entertainment from what is easily the greatest Hollywood franchise going.
Paramount Pictures made the weird decision of opening "Dead Reckoning" just one week before all the premium screens were swallowed up by "Oppenheimer." However, for those of us who did see it on those screens (I actually saw it four times), it blew us away with its impeccable craft, breathless action, and fun, twisty, timely tale of artificial intelligence. In fact, it currently sits atop my list as the best film of 2023 so far, and when the lights went up in the theater after the film ended, I wanted to watch "Dead Reckoning Part Two" immediately.

[Editor’s note: The following interview was conducted before the SAG-AFTRA strike began on July 14, 2023.]
Rebecca Ferguson is ready for a break. She’s finished her A.D.R. (additional dialogue) on “Dune: Part Two,” the promotion chores on “Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One” (her third in the series), and is on her way home to hang with her 16-year-old son and still-friendly first husband in Sweden.
She was prepared to go back to England’s Hoddesdon Studios to shoot the second season of “Silo,” the most popular series on AppleTV+, returning her to the lead role of Sheriff. Not necessary, as the day after we spoke, July 13, SAG-AFTRA announced they were going on strike. “The percentage of people fortunate enough to have a good life as actors have to fight for the other percentage,” she said on the phone.
The 39-year-old actress, who grew up in Stockholm, attended a bilingual English school, and trained as a dancer, has steadily built herself into a major star.

Greg Tarzan Davis is the only actor who can say that his first three films were Tom Cruise-led blockbusters, beginning with Top Gun: Maverick and now, Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One and Part Two. Davis bonded with Maverick co-writer and Mission: Impossible co-mastermind Christopher “McQ” McQuarrie on the set of Joseph Kosinski’s smash hit, and so McQ later conceived Dead Reckoning Part One with Davis in mind for a role.
Overall, Davis is grateful to his seasoned collaborators for passing on their knowledge to him, starting with his Dead Reckoning Part One scene partner, Shea Whigham. Whigham not only taught him the value of providing a variety of different takes, but he also helped him with his self-tapes during their downtime. The lessons didn’t stop there as Davis once again shadowed McQ on set, as well as in the editing room, alongside Cruise and editor Eddie Hamilton.

Vanessa Kirby and Pom Klementieff filmed "40 takes" to simply pick up a key on ‘Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One'.Vanessa, 35, plays arms dealer Alanna Mitsopolis, while Pom's alter ego is assassin Paris in the action sequel, which sees Tom Cruise reprise his role as Ethan Hunt for a seventh time. The actresses have spilled on Christopher McQuarrie's directing style and revealed that he insisted they do the little things over and over again, but rather be frustrating it merely added to the "fun" on set.In a joint interview with website Collider, Vanessa said: “We did 40 takes of picking up a key, and it was so fun because actually, you realize by take 30, you're thinking as an actor, yeah, you're just picking up a key, but I thought, 'How many ways can a human being pick up a key?'Pom, 37, added: “Yes, it tells a different story.

Shea Whigham thought his pursuit of Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker would forever be his toughest assignment, but then Tom Cruise’s Ethan Hunt quickly proved him wrong in Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One.
In Christopher “McQ” McQuarrie’s critically acclaimed seventh chapter of the spy action franchise, Whigham plays Jasper Briggs, a foot soldier for the CIA’s Clandestine Services, and together with his partner Degas (Greg Tarzan Davis), he’s tasked with the tall order of chasing Ethan Hunt around the world. And while his similar role in Todd Phillips’ box office smash hit Joker (2019) would seem like the inspiration for his Mission casting, it was actually his Dod bureaucrat character from the Sam Esmail-directed and Julie Roberts-led Homecoming that piqued McQ’s interest.

Tom Cruise and Hayley Atwell in ‘Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning Part One’ from Paramount Pictures and Skydance
Naming the big bad “The Entity” is a dead giveaway that plot isn’t going to matter as much as the spectacular action sequences in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. And unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know Tom Cruise has put his body through hell to pull off the seventh Mi film’s insane action scenes. Cruise’s efforts pay off big time in one of the best entries in the blockbuster franchise.
But about that plot… Ethan Hunt (Cruise) is tasked with recovering a key that controls The Entity, an artificial intelligence that has become sentient. The Entity began with controlling social media and moved on to attacking governments across the globe. But that’s small potatoes compared to its ultimate goal: world domination.

New Delhi, July 10 (Ians) In their seventh outing Ethan Hunt and his Imf team are back with a bang in Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, and have an onerous task of tracking down a dangerous weapon before it falls into the wrong hands.
Transformed from the budgetary limitations of the original television series into a hugely profitable franchise, this latest addition is a magnificently spectacular and awe-inspiring 164 minutes of edge-of-the-seat actioner. Its pulse-racing stunts are so dazzling that they have an endless appeal with the starry presence of Tom Cruise who, undoubtedly, is the highlight of the movie.
Its plot has a unique spirit. It is steeped in nature, which sets it apart from all other jumbo budget movies of this genre, and so, there’s no point in looking for deeper meanings or analysing the holes in this nail-biting spectacle.

Tom Cruise is used to going to extremes to thrill audiences with the bombastic action of the Mission: Impossible franchise, but how long can he cheat death by repeatedly playing MI6 agent Ethan Hunt? If Cruise has his way, he’ll laugh at the Grim Reaper’s boney face alongside the withering visage of Father Time by defying the odds for years to come. Forever the goal-oriented actor, Cruise says he wants to walk in Harrison Ford’s shadow by playing Ethan Hunt until he’s the Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny actor’s age.
“Harrison Ford is a legend,” Cruise told The Sydney Morning Herald while walking the red carpet on the Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One premiere. “I’ve got twenty years to catch up with him.” While Cruise has played Ethan Hunt for over twenty years, Ford still plays Henry Walton “Indiana” Jones Jr.

The newest adventure of Ethan Hunt and his Imf comrades will be making its way into theaters in a couple of weeks. Recently, Tom Cruise and his frequent collaborator, Christopher McQuarrie, are championing the theater-going practice and good ol’ fashion cinematic experiences as they encourage audiences to see both Oppenheimer and Barbie to support theaters. This is in addition to their determination to give movie-goers the most thrilling entertainment for their latest outing, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One. The new featurette takes you behind the scenes of another giant set piece involving a little-known extreme sport called Speedflying. It’s both exactly as it sounds and exactly what you’d expect from Cruise and Company.

Tom Cruise says "time expands" when he shoots his daredevil movie stunts. The 60-year-old actor is famous for filming as many of his own action sequences as possible, no matter what the risk, and his new blockbuster 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One' sees him continue that tradition, with him even having a knife fight on top of a speeding train in one sequence. On the first day of shooting on the action sequel, Cruise rode a motorcycle off a Norwegian mountain before jumping with a parachute to the ground, a scene that took eight takes to get the perfect shot. The Hollywood legend admits that when the adrenaline starts flowing through his body during the stunts time, for him, simultaneously becomes both "short and long".Speaking to media at the UK premier of 'Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One' in London on Thursday...

“Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One” was finally unveiled at a starry world premiere in Rome on Monday evening, drawing a packed gala screening in the Auditorium della Conciliazione, a stone’s throw from the Vatican.
The gala screening was delayed by more than 90 minutes as Tom Cruise was holding an apparently impromptu meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni at the Palazzo Chigi, seat of the Italian government.
The crowd in the auditorium grew increasingly annoyed with having to watch interviews from the red carpet held earlier on the Spanish Steps in what started seeming like an endless loop on the venue’s screen, equipped with a Dolby Atmos sound system for the special occasion.
However there was warm applause when Cruise, director Christopher McQuarrie, and a large contingent of the film’s ensemble – including Hayley Atwell; Rebecca Ferguson; Simon Pegg; Vanessa Kirby; Pom Klementieff, Esai Morales, Shea Whigham...

Tom Cruise talked emotionally about his love for big-screen movies and dove deep into the philosophy of global cinema during an interview with Deadline on the red carpet Monday in Rome where he attended the world premiere of Paramount and Skydance’s Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One.
The event took place on the Spanish Steps of the Italian capital, where much of the latest franchise installment takes place, and fitting because of the value Cruise places on overseas markets for his movies, saying, getting emotional as he described the “artform” and how it “bridges walls, it breaks them down and allows people to be able to share that kind of commonality and experience.”

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One writer/director Christopher McQuarrie describes the new Mi film’s Rome chase scene as more ambitious and unpredictable than any car stunt they’ve previously shot. The two-minute behind-the-scenes featurette shows just how incredibly difficult the car chase was to shoot, especially given that it was all done practically.

Returning cast members for this seventh film of the Mi franchise include Ving Rhames as Luther Stickell, Simon Pegg as Benji Dunn, Rebecca Ferguson as Ilsa Faust,...
