Guitarist Dave Navarro was back playing with Jane’s Addiction at London’s Bush Hall on Thursday (May 23rd), marking his return to the stage after a battle with long Covid kept him sidelined for a few years.
In 2022, original bassist Eric Avery rejoined the legendary alt-rock band after more than a decade away, but with Navarro sitting out, it prevented a reunion of the classic Jane’s Addiction lineup. Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen and former Red Hot Chili Peppers guitarist Josh Klinghoffer had filled in the past couple years.

On Thursday night, Navarro, Avery, singer Perry Farrell, and drummer Stephen Perkins played their first show together since 2010.
In addition to Navarro’s return, the concert featured the debut of a new song called “Imminent Redemption.” The band also played “True Love,” another new tune that they unveiled in concert last year.

Jane’s Addiction’s classic lineup performed its first show in 14 years last night at London’s Bush Hall. The band, who reunited with co-founding bassist Eric Avery in 2022, took the opportunity to showcase a new track, “Imminent Redemption.”
The song marks the band’s second new song in the past year after they debuted “True Love,” their first new music in over a decade, last year. Jane’s Addiction initially formed in 1985 and features singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro, drummer Stephen Perkins, and bassist Eric Avery.

AC/DC are hitting the road for the first time in eight years. The hard rock band announced a European stadium tour Monday morning that kicks off May 17 in Gelsenkirchen, Germany, and wraps up August 17 in Dublin, Ireland.
It’s a new lineup of AC/DC featuring drummer Matt Laug, who played with the group during their one-off Power Trip performance last year, and former Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney “carrying the torch” for bassist Cliff Williams.

The Armed have released a new album called Perfect Saviors. Stream it via Apple Music or Spotify below.
As the self-described “World’s Greatest Band,” it’s not surprising that The Armed would have some pretty strong words to say about the environment that inspired their next album. “Too much information has made us dumb and confused,” singer Tony Wolski offered in a statement. “Too many ways to connect have inadvertently led to isolation. And too much expectation has forced everyone to become a celebrity. Predictable primal dangers have given way to newer social ones. And the result is a world that is confounding and terrifying — but ultimately still beautiful. We hope this record is exactly all of that, too. Perfect Saviors is our completely unironic, sincere effort to create the biggest, greatest rock album of the 21st century.”

Rock bands are usually rife with stories about members’ tumultuous exits, and the Red Hot Chili Peppers are no exception. The group fired guitar player Dave Navarro in the 1990s, and even the remaining members admit it “went horribly.”

Earlier this week, Jane’s Addiction quietly debuted their first new song in 10 years, “True Love,” at the end of a show in Bakersfield, California, on Sunday, March 5.
The song is a psych-tinged ballad that builds to an understated peak, with frontman Perry Farrell’s voice reverberating against twinkling guitars, splashy cymbals, and a pensive baseline. Fan-shot video of the performance arrived online a few days after the concert, and in the clip, Farrell introduced “True Love” by saying, “We want to give you something very special… We’re gonna...

Jane’s Addiction unveiled their first new song in a decade on Sunday (March 5th) during a concert in Bakersfield, California. The tune, titled “True Love,” was performed by the band’s current touring lineup of Perry Farrell, Stephen Perkins, Eric Avery, and Josh Klinghoffer (who is filling in for Dave Navarro).
“True Love” is the first new Jane’s tune since 2013’s “Another Soulmate,” a one-off single that followed the band’s 2011 album The Great Escape Artist.
The slow ballad is driven by Avery’s melodic bass line, enhanced by Klinghoffer’s occasional guitar theatrics, as Farrell sings with a subdued restraint throughout the song.
Jane’s have been sharing video clips of Farrell, Avery, and Perkins in the studio on Instagram, and it could be assumed that “True Love” was written during those sessions. Last year, Farrell told Heavy Consequence during a video interview that he’d love...

“I’m in a frenzy!” 75-year-old Iggy Pop barks on “Frenzy,” the first track on Every Loser. This comes as something of a surprise. While such a state used to be par for the course for the most shirtless man in rock, it’s been a while since his solo work has reflected that kind of intensity. Both Préliminaires, in 2009, and Après, in 2012, focused on his earthy croon (in French, no less). Iggy had spent much of the first decade or so of the 21st century thrashing out his demons with the reformed Stooges,...

Dave Navarro has some bad news to share with fans looking forward to seeing him on tour with Jane’s Addiction this fall.
A few months back, Perry Farrell and Billy Corgan made a joint appearance on “The Howard Stern Show” to announce their respective bands would be teaming up to hit the road for a joint Smashing Pumpkins-Jane’s Addiction tour.
However, Navarro won’t be participating in the tour, and he took to Twitter this week to reveal that he’s still suffering the aftereffects of Covid-19, nearly a year after being infected.

When Jane’s Addiction kick off their North American arena tour with Smashing Pumpkins on Oct. 2, they’ll be joined by original bassist Eric Avery for the first time in more than a decade. But this won’t be a complete reunion of the classic Jane’s lineup: Guitarist Dave Navarro, who is suffering from long Covid and unable to tour, will be recuperating at home. In his place will be Queens of the Stone Age guitarist Troy Van Leeuwen.

When Taylor Hawkins, Dave Navarro, and Jane’s Addiction bassist Chris Chaney started jamming together at Hawkins’ L.A. home studio in early 2020, they had little ambition beyond killing time during the pandemic. “After a couple of songs, we realized we had a sound,” says Navarro. “We just kept going, and before we knew it, we had a body of work. And then a light bulb went off and we realized we had an actual band and were going to make a record.”

As Nine Inch Nails mounts their comeback, the band's longtime fans are being hit with the holy grail of updates: We now have a new song, an album title and a plethora of tour dates.
The totally revamped rock band -- which will now feature Eric Avery of Jane's Addiction, Adrian Belew of King Crimson and Josh Eustis of Telefon Tel Aviv alongside original members Trent Reznor, Alessandro Cortini and Ilan Rubin -- has unveiled "Came Back Haunted," the first Nin single since 2008's "Discipline." The song will feature on the upcoming album "Hesitation Marks," slated for a Sept. 3 release and labeled "frankly f—ing great" by Reznor in a press release.
Nine Inch Nails will also hit the road on a massive world tour with Explosions in the Sky and Godspeed You! Black Emperor on hand to open. It's the first set of concerts since 2009's Wave Goodbye Tour...

Trent Reznor's rebooted Nine Inch Nails is in need of a new bassist: Eric Avery, who was announced to be joining the reformed industrial rockers on their 2013-14 world tour earlier this year, has pulled out of the project. "It's with very mixed emotions I tell you all that I'm pulling out of Nin," Avery wrote on a Facebook post on Wednesday afternoon, May 15. "I know. Good news, for Nine Inch Nails fans; they can now satisfy any '90s Nin nostalgia with a viewing of "Closure," a 1997 documentary about the band recently made available online.
The 75-minute video was posted to Nine Inch Nails' Tumblr this week. The band explains the video as "a documentary of Nine Inch Nails’ 1994-1996 'Self Destruct' tour, including concert and behind-the-scenes footage." This footage includes appearances by Marilyn Manson and David Bowie and copious amounts of long-haired '90s mosh pitters head banging to the band's early hits.

“I’ve been thinking for some time now it’s time to make Nin disappear for a while.”
So went Trent Reznor’s musings in early 2009 that announced the indefinite hiatus of Nine Inch Nails. Now, as music fans know ‘indefinite’ is often a lot more definite than most artists are wishing to let on – or admit to. So, with that announcement in mind a general feeling that this was not a hiatus but in fact the end fell upon most Nine Inch Nails fans, and was the general consensus of the music press and the music scene.
As Reznor went onto clarify, he would still be creating music but branching out beyond the Nine Inch Nails moniker, and whilst he was saying he’d never say never to producing music as Nine Inch Nails he saw no future for the band as a live entity for the foreseeable future.

Nin assemble! That's the gist of Trent Reznor's announcement today on Pitchfork.com (linked directly from the title page of band's official site, shown above), wherein he revealed that the legendary electro-rock phenomenon would be “reinventing itself from scratch” and returning to the stage this summer in its new incarnation. The most significant part of Trent's new post was the revelation of the band's lineup, which will include some past collaborators as well as new core members. The band's last stage incarnation was the “Wave Goodbye” tour, which was chronicled in the amazing concert film Another Version of the Truth, which made FEARnet's best-of list for 2010 (viddy some excerpts from that show at the end of this article). “I was working with [guitarist] Adrian Belew on some musical ideas, which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to...

The arena tour kicks off this fall in the U.S. and goes international in 2014. More details (presumably with an album announcement?) to come, he says.

Where do we even begin with Jane’s Addiction? Thanking them for their decades of contributions to defining the sound of alternative rock music is probably the best place to start. Selling over seven million records in the U.S. alone, garnering Grammy nominations and launching and headlining the music festival, Lollapalooza, Jane’s Addiction are legends in the music world. Forming in Los Angeles, California in 1985, Jane’s Addiction consisted of vocalist, Perry Farrell, guitarist, Dave Navarro, bassist, Eric Avery and drummer, Stephen Perkins. Since the 80s, the group released three studio albums, Nothing’s Shocking in 1988, Ritual de lo Habitual in 1990 and Strays in 2003. Despite now and then “break...

Alt-rock legends Jane's Addiction killed it the other night, performing an eight-song, forty-two minute after-hours set at, of all places, Google's annual I/O developer conference in San Francisco. The original lineup was on stage, minus bassist Eric Avery, replaced by Strays-era low-ender Chris Chaney. Jane's is keeping in fighting trim, while grabbing some of that corporate money, as they prepare to tour in support of their forthcoming album, The Great Escape Artist. Lead singer Perry Farrell brought his nasally defiance to the tech-heads, gently teasing the crowd about "Googlepalooza" as he intermittently swigged from a bottle of wine. Stephen Perkins hasn't missed a beat with his tribal thump on drums, and Dave Navarro remains the guy who's no longer with Carmen Electra. (Just kidding.) It's funny to see how smartphones and tablets have usurped the place of lighters at rock [...]...

Rocker Perry Farrell insists Jane's Addiction's search for a permanent bass player is far from over - because their latest addition, Dave Sitek, doesn't like touring. The reunited rockers lost original bassist Eric Avery and his replacement Duff McKagan last year and former band member Chris Chaney joined the band for a New Year's Eve concert.
Now former TV on the Radio star Sitek has joined the group as Farrell, Stephen Perkins and Dave Navarro work on a new album - but he's unlikely to be a permanent fix. The frontman tells Rolling Stone, "He's not a guy that likes to go on tours though, so we haven't decided who it will be yet."
And Farrell tells the publication he's still puzzled about why former Guns N' Roses star McKagan quit the group after just three shows and five months. He adds, "I couldn't really tell you what his problem was.

Dave Sitek is working with Jane's Addiction on their new album. The producer and multi instrumentalist, a member of TV on the Radio, has replaced former Guns N' Roses member Duff McKagan as bassist, and is also thought to be helping the band write songs for their as-yet-untitled new album.
Frontman Perry Farrell said in a statement he and his band mates, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Steve Perkins, are "fully immersed in the process of making modern music. It has been a great experience thus far, and the results have so much potential."
Although Dave has produced records for groups including his own, Foals and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, the album will be helmed by Rich Costey, who has previously worked with Muse and Glasvegas. The album will be the group's first since "Strays" in 2003.
Jane's Addiction were hit with the departure of the group's founding bassist Eric Avery, who dramatically quit in March.

McKagan stepped in to replace co-founder Eric Avery following his departure from the band in March and he hit the studio with new bandmates Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins to record fresh material for the reunited rockers' first album in seven years.

Slash will resume his search for Scott Weiland's replacement in Velvet Revolver once he completes his solo tour. The group, founded by the guitarist and his former Guns N' Roses' bandmate Duff McKagan, has been auditioning singers since firing Weiland in April 2008.

Former Guns N' Roses star Duff McKagan has reportedly become the latest member of Jane's Addiction - he's rumored to have stepped in to replace bassist Eric Avery. The band reunited in 2008 after Nine Inch Nails frontman Trent Reznor convinced them to join him on tour - and they have also been back in the studio working on new material.
The reunion was marred by the recent departure of original member Avery, but frontman Perry Farrell subsequently revealed they have been working with a new "writing partner" and internet rumors have turned to McKagan.
Fansite Xiola is reporting the Velvet Revolver rocker has joined the band in the studio. Avery previously refused to reunite with the rockers when they reformed in 1997 and 2001, following their original 1991 split. He has been replaced over the years by stars including Red Hot Chili Peppers bassist Flea, Martyn LeNoble and Chris Chaney.

After rescheduling two out of the four Los Angeles dates on the "Wave Goodbye" tour, Nine Inch Nails pulled out all the stops for their California fans, wrapping up the band's live farewell with a show at the Wiltern last night, which featured a guest appearance from Jane's Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro on three tunes.
What tricks were up mastermind Trent Reznor's sleeve this week? While New York fans were treated to a performance of the entirety of The Downward Spiral and guest appearances by Bauhaus' Peter Murphy, the Los Angeles shows has secrets of their own. Gary Numan joined the band at the Echoplex on September 6 and again at the Henry Fonda Theater on September 8. The Echoplex — a dingy, overheated basement club venue which shares its name with a song on the 2008 album Nin The Slip — was the perfect setting for Reznor's rage-filled, claustrophobic songs.

Chicago — Perry Farrell left it to a couple of Lollapalooza veterans to close out day three of his annual party in the park. Of course, after two days of sets by everyone from Tool and Kings of Leon to the Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Asher Roth, one of those headliners was his own Jane's Addiction, who played the fest with their original lineup for the first time since they helped launch the touring juggernaut way back in 1991. The other topper, the Killers, have also been there before, serving the same honors back in 2005 at the first Chicago-based Lolla, and they brought an even bigger sound and vision this time around in a head-to-head with the reconstituted Jane's.

Eighteen years ago, they helped found Alternative Nation on the first-ever Lollapalooza tour. On Friday night (May 8), they'll hit the road together again.
Nine Inch Nails and Jane's Addiction kick off their so-called Ninja 2009 jaunt Friday in West Palm Beach, Florida, marking the first time they've shared the stage together since Lolla '91. It's a double bill that makes an awful lot of sense — yet, for a whole lot of reasons, it almost never happened.
First and foremost, Jane's had to reunite with original (and long-estranged) bassist Eric Avery, which British music mag NME had a lot to do with.
"We weren't thinking of getting together at all. But we were called by NME magazine to receive this thing called the 'Godlike Genius Award,...

The original members of Jane's Addiction will reform for the first time in 17 years to receive a career achievement award from Nme, Reuters reports.
Bassist Eric Avery said he would take to the stage with singer Perry Farrell, guitarist Dave Navarro and drummer Stephen Perkins at the Nme Awards in Los Angeles on April 23.
"I have always considered reunions to be a way to make a quick buck, and it sells short my own experience of it the first time around," Avery said in a statement. "The reason I started . . .
