Amy Poehler and her Paper Kite Productions partner Kate Arend are building a mini docuseries empire. The two created competition series Making It, followed by last year’s Baking It, and now they’ve teamed up with the producers of the original Queer Eye for The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning. “We like to try to work in the unscripted space in a way that isn’t about intimidation or humiliation,” Poehler says. “We’re not that interested in watching people fight.”
The actor, who narrates the show about an organizer, designer and psychologist who help people clean out their homes both in preparation for death and as a healing process, gathered at the Crosby Street Hotel for a live THR Presents panel, powered by Vision Media, where they discussed the making of the show and the “cathartic release” they get while watching.

In recent years, Culver City — known for its small-town vibe within the larger L.A. megalopolis — has welcomed a growing number of new-media companies to its streets, including Amazon Studios, Apple and TikTok, plus HBO and other divisions of Warner Bros. Discovery. This entertainment industry influx — which is bringing an estimated 7,500 to 9,500 jobs to the city of 40,000 — is now amping up the restaurant business there, especially as more employees return to office life.
“I had two emails from Apple today about [booking] dinners,” says chef Akasha Richmond of Akasha restaurant, which opened in 2008. “One for 90 people and another person emailed about a dinner for 27.”
At lunch hour, Platform LA — a 6-year-old boutique mall that includes stores and restaurants — is packed with entertainment staffers, says Patrizio Spagnoletto, global CMO at Warner Bros. Discovery. “It’s the stomping ground of people who are in the industry.

While saltier reality shows including Bravo’s “Real Housewives” franchise and HBO Max’s “FBoy Island” are still very much a thing — and very popular — there has also been a bumper crop of “nice” reality programming infiltrating the arena.

Amy Poehler and Peacock are cleaning house. The NBCU streamer has ordered a non-scripted series based on Margareta Magnusson’s book The Gentle Art of Swedish Death Cleaning.
Parks and Recreation star Poehler will produce via her Paper Kite Productions, alongside Queer Eye producer Scout Productions, and will narrate the series.
The hour-long transformation series features people who are at a major crossroads and need to get their houses and lives in order. A Swedish “Death Cleaner” will help organize and demystify homes, lives, and relationships, allowing us to prepare for death while we enjoy life
The Swedish Death Cleaner will turn each home upside down as they uncover and undo decades of collecting. The only thing worse than death? Traveling back to the ’80s.
Natasha Lyonne reprises her existentially challenged role as Nadia in Netflix’s “Russian Doll” for Season 2, premiering April 20. Set four years after the events of Season 1, the trailer for the second season shows Nadia (Lyonne) getting lost in the New York City subway system, wondering when she is. Posters of “Sophie’s Choice,” bad ’80s clothes, and even early 20th-century soldiers prove that Nadia can’t escape being a prisoner of time. Check out the trailer for Season 2 below.
“The universe finally found something worse than death,” she says. “I broke time.”
Yet Alan (Charlie Barnett) wonders if perhaps they have unfinished business — and Nadia’s family history points to lost gold treasure aboard a train. Just add it to one of the many inexplicable things happening in her life, which is Nadia’s modus operandi.

Netflix has unveiled the trailer for Season 2 of “Russian Doll,” which is slated to premiere on April 20 more than three years after its critically-acclaimed first season.
Created by Natasha Lyonne, Amy Poehler and Leslye Headland, the mind-bending dramedy ended its last season with Nadia (Lyonne) and Alan (Charlie Barnett) escaping a time loop that restarted each time they suddenly died.
Season 2 picks up four years later, but it’s a subway ride rather than a cocaine-laced cigarette that seems to send Nadia catapulting into a new dimension. After a stranger asks her, “Is that your train?” she woozily awakens inside a subway car that feels plucked from another decade. Spotting a “Sophie’s Choice” poster and a Travis Bickle lookalike, she wonders whether she’s woken up in the middle of an “’80’s flash mob.”

“Bel Air” is about to feature a “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” reunion — of sorts. Daphne Maxwell Reid, who played Will’s aunt on later seasons of “Fresh Prince,” and Vernee Watson-Johnson, who recurred as Will’s mom on the show, are returning to Bel Air — in guest starring roles for Episode 9 of Peacock’s new drama.
Maxwell Reid and Watson-Johnson portrayed Aunt Viv and Viola “Vy” Smith, respectively, in the original series. For their upcoming guest roles on “Bel-Air,” the two will play “Helen” and “Janice,” members of the Art Council Board of Trustee.
Peacock’s “Bel-Air” reimagines the beloved “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air” sitcom — with a new lens on Will’s (Jabari Banks) complicated journey from West Philadelphia to the gated mansions of Bel-Air. The series, inspired by Morgan Cooper’s viral trailer, is executive produced by Will Smith — as well as director/co-writer Cooper and showrunners T.J. Brady and Rasheed Newson.
